I'd like to use the HTC Touch keyboard on my Tilt for the times that I don't want to slide out the keyboard, but installing it seems to break the autocorrect feature when I am using the hardware keyboard. I see a few other people mentioning this in various threads, but I have yet to see any mention of a solution to this problem. I've tried all sorts of combinations of enabling and disabling autocorrect and various xt9 features, but the only way I can get autocorrect back is by uninstalling the HTC Touch keyboard.
By autocorrect, I'm referring to the ability to type in "il" and have it automatically change to "I'll"
Hi - did anybody find a solution to this? I've been searching high and low!
I'm in exactly the same boat - I love HTC keypad as it really helps me use the Kaiser one-handed, but I really miss the auto-correct on the hardware keyboard.
Is there a version of this SIP that doesn't break auto-correct?
I tried the HTC phonepad, but just couldn't get used to it after using the newer Keypad.
I would love to have a good T9 style SIP, but also have autocorrect on the hardware keyboard......anybody that can help?
Thanks!
I'd noticed that too, quite annoying as the touch keypad is so useful.

I too found the same issues yet I loved the T9 input using the touch pad. I removed the xT9 one and installed this one instead.
You still get T9 and it works fast too. The internal keyboard auto correct also works with it too.
Is also made by HTC but can't remember where I found it. May have been on here before or recently.
I've been earching for a solution to this as well for months now. The autocomplete that XT9 disables is part of wm6 which it calls "word completion." When XT9 is installed via htc keypad, word completion ceases to work along with the feature that auto-fills contacts as you start to type a new SMS.
Thanks for posting that pkonepad cab, but unfortunately.that' the sip that radatia mentioned above. The buttons on the new HTC touch phonepad are bigger and easier to use.
What we really need is someone here that knows some programming to somehow alter the touch phonepad so that xt9 can be toggled on and off (without a registry change and restart), or better yet somehow change it to use a T9 like the phonepad's instead of xt9...
I have exact same problem. I love the htc virtual keyboard because became useful. However once I installed it, the hardware keyboard word completion no longer work I need that too because I use it.
I have another question, do anyone know if I can make the default windows word completion to auto select the top most word suggested list so I can just enter space bar to select it. Now I always have to use down key to select the word 1st. Not efficient.
Just wanted to bump this topic. There have got to be others out there who share our frustration... and someone who can put an end to it!
I've given up on the HTC Keypad, much as I like it and it making the device usable one-handed.
Have moved onto the PocketCM Keyboard as my preferred SIP just so that I can still keep word completion when using the hardware keyboard.
Hope that someone posts here if a solution is eventually found......
oh man!
I'm the opposite.. how I wish the hardware keyboard is not auto correct enabled when I use it.
I've tried dis-abling the auto correct etc.. dun seem to work..
now using Resco keyboard..
it's the next best thing, but kinda defeats the purpose of getting the tytn II in the first place.
Yes the touch keyboard has many issues when used on kaiser. i can't get autocomplete to work with the hardware keyboard either unfortunately.
I do know that "multiword completion" in the xt9 settings or whatever is a bad thing and causes other problems, so i uncheck that. But, still can't figure out how to get autocomplete to work.
I spent a lot of time searching and installing/uninstalling these things to try and find a perfect mix, no luck though. It's still QUITE usable for me, but i would like auto complete for hardware keyboard, though, i dont think i'd use it as i type realy fast anyways with it.
It's quite hard to justify buying a keyboard when we are able to install a free one that *almost* does what we want! pcmkeyboard with iphone buttons and XL touch skin is good, but i am realy starting to like xt9.
:-( i have this problem now and love the keyboard...
is there a way to make the pcm keyboard the defualt keyboard on a Tilt instead of the small keyboard it comes with? i can select it w/quicmenu but everytime my phone goes in standby or is turned off it goes back to the original keyboard, is there a registry edit or something i can do to fix this?
SIPChange

Hello folks, i have searched these forums and cant seem to find the answer i am looking for regarding xt9 and the kaiser.
I have a kaiser and have installed WM6.1 duttys march04 rom and 1.64.08.21 radio, with the HTC touch keyboard and keypad CAB.
The keyboard/keypad work excellently when using the device with one hand, and xt9 seems to pick up alot of words
BUT
when i am typing long texts/emails, and using the slide out hardware keyboard,
xt9 deletes characters and corrects words when i dont want it to, even when i click the xt9 symbol to turn it off, or even change it to a different input like Keyboard or Transcriber. very annoying/useless.
please help!!
thanks in advance

nobody got this same issue?
You might be looking for a way to disable xt9 then.
http://www.google.com/cse?cx=000825...w&q=Disable+XT9&cof=FORID:0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
no i dont want to disable xt9 totally i only want to disable it for the hardware keyboard, as it works great for the "touch" keyboard/keypad, and i hate using abc input.
Is this possible?
use the xda google search try these to search these words: Xt9 and hardware keyboard.
look at the fifth link. someone had the exact same problem as you and the solution was given. it was dutty's disable xt9

that disbale uutility will screw up your keypad even worse. When it installs, it wipes out the image files used for the xt9 and then you won't be able to uninstall the touch keyboard/pad at all. I would recommend not using the disable utility.
Keep in mind that the Touch keyboad/pad was designed for the HTC Touch device, which doesn't have a slide out keyboard. Therefore the code was never meant to run on the Tilt, at least perfectly. I've tried every variation of the touch keyboad and they all don't work well for one reason or another....
i see.... well thanks anyway.
does anyone know of a GOOD alternative to the touch keypad app?
ive tried alot of others such as
FingerFriendlyFriends
PCMKeyboard
Phone Pad
Touchpal
but none of them are as good/easy to use.
Cheers

yes please elaborate
"it" being the disable xt9, given that I have the touch keyboard installed.
it may be that you are using the touch keyboard that's already installed as part of the rom, in that case the disable utility probably works. I was using a cab based install of the touch keyboard, one that worked with my tilt fine except for the lost of auto-correct and no word suggestion anymore. When I installed the disable xt9 utlity, it wiped out the images used within the keyboard but still left xt9 installed but in a non-useable way. Then I had to manually remove everything, both the keyboard and the disable util manually because neither would uninstall now....
Hi all, just got the diamond last week, damn its nice, just the battery life sucks.
I used to own a UK T-Mobile Mda 3, loved the calender as i change shifts a lot, was looking to replace it a few months back heard tell of the diamond so decided to wait.......however...
The sms full keyboard on my old MDA3 used to allow predictive words (t9 i think) but the diamond does not seem to, I like the keyboard layout over the qwerty or comapct qwerty as they both take up too much for the screen for my taste.
The t9 does not seem to work in the keybaord layout, i think i have all the settings correct, as it works in the other 2 setups but not keybaord.
also, is there a website that lists all the compatible 6.1 programs? not sure what i want, but more like teeter would be nice, or even a different sms prog that allows predictive text!!
Cheers

The same for me. T9 works only using qwerty layout. If you use keyboard layout predictive text doesn't work. Someone has an idea ? My rom is 1.37 from HTC official italian.
Thanks in advance

Found it ! Thanks to newtonmj in modaco forum
You must chaange the registry key XT9SupportMSSip in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Tegic\eT9\ from '0' to '1'.
This allows the predictive text to work correctly in standard keyboard too.
I don't know if this mod can "damage" other settings but I don't think. It allows the predictive input to work using microsoft standard keyboard. In my device now works !

Very nice. I think I'll try it. But I wanted that worked correctly standard keyboard without adding third part software. What is standard in my device MUST work correctly. Then perhaps I'll not use it, but this is another thing
I'm paranoic. But I can't accept that a phone worth about 500€ does't go in the appropriate way......
I think i just found out that EZInput is a HTC addon only working with touchflo (which is called manilla?). Could someone confirm/deconfim that please?
I'm running a ROM called Revolution which runs titanium (without touchflo) - it frees up more ram which i really like (i kept running out of ram).
I really really hate that qwerty keyboard since it's so hard to hit with a finger (not using the stylus a lot) i remembered the old htc input thing that would put 2 or 3 letters on one button (old t9 style or the compact thing i think it's called?)
How can i install a keyboard that does that for my titanium?
Nope EZInput works with both Manila and Titanium. I think the input you're refering to is called the Phone Keypad. You could try out my latest ROM, you can choose between Full Qwerty, Compact Qwerty, Phone Keypad and Swipe inputs. (please read the instructions before you install my ROM)
...but if you want to stay with your current ROM then there is a registry edit that you can do to change your current input to Phone Keypad.
Ok thanks for the input I might check out your ROM, atm fighting to get WiFi working again...
