Create the Contacts from an .xls or .csv files Possible? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hi,
I had created sometimes ago for my Samsug mobile a Contacts file. This file was updated and converted to .xls file and .csv (text with a comma separating fields) file. That Contacts file is NOT AT ALL the same as the Outlook .wab file.
Today, I'm looking to convert these .xls file or .csv file to my Diamond Contacts.
1) Anyone can help on this How to?
2) BTW, What Diamond Contacts file is? It is, possible to edit it?
I'll appreciate any help

The easiest way would probably be to import them into Outlook and then sync with your Diamond. Outlook accepts different kinds of delimited .CSV as well as different generations of .XLS and even Access db files so you are not in any way restricted to .wab (which is actually Windows Address Book and not Outlook)

I do not have outlook (i only use webmails).
But ... is there a way to type in my contact on my PC (easier) using a freeware ?

Okay then... refer to this link http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-...import-contacts-csv-file-without-outlook.html - someone here had exactly the same issue you do and they got it resolved without Outlook. Hope this helps

You can also try Jeyo Mobile Companion http://www.jeyo.com which has a feature to import many kinds of files (including .csv) straight into your device without the need for Outlook

TNX gust i'll test later this WE.
Any one can tell me, What Diamond Contacts file type is? and if can be edited?
Do NOT hesitate for any forward suggestions?

No one has a tip... ???
Please: Where are the contact stored on the Diamond & can this be edited ?
Thx a lot

HTC S710 'Vox' to TyTn II (Kaiser) - Migration, How do I get my data/sms/etc across

Hi all,
I need some help please. I received my TyTn II yesterday and now I need to shift all my data (contacts, tasks, sms, etc.) across to the TyTn II before selling my S710.
I know I can use Outlook syncing to get the contacts and tasks across, but can someone please confirm exactly what process I should use as I've previously had syncs wipe the data on my PC when connecting a fresh phone to try and get data onto it. I have already been using the S710 to sync with Outlook 2007 on this PC (ActiveSync 4.5).
Also, can someone please tell me how to get my texts (sms) onto the TyTn II from the S710? - I've got Sprite Backup 6 on the S710, but I don't know whether the "upgrade" backup file option will work between a WM6 Smartphone and a WM6 Professional device. I've actually tried to restore just the "personal databases" from an S710 backup onto my TyTn II but the SMS's don't show up, only call lists and contacts.
Any help and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
- Odie
Get PIMBackup. It's somewhere on the Forum here, and can backup your TXT messages fine!
Heck, I actually used it last week to copy 2600 SMS messages from my Nokia N80 (outputted to .csv) into my Kaiser...
It works great!
I don't actually think that DotFred's PPCPIMbackup - to give it its' real name - will work on a SmartPhone....as the name suggests, it's for "PPC" or Pocket PC devices.
You could ask the man himself - post in the thread in the Development & Hacking forum HERE, or visit his website DotFred.net.
Mark.
Thanks for the suggestions.
I think it might work if I can get my Vox SMS output as CSV, I think I've seen a program that does this. Then I can use PPCPIMbackup to import them into the Kaiser.
contacts, mail, agenda can be synch with outlook
for sms you can save them to SIM
Thanks for all of your replies.
As I had hoped, the contacts and tasks synced successfully from my laptop's Outlook 2007 (after getting the latest stuff synced from my S710)
Notes seem to have messed up in that my multi-line notes have been split into multiple single-line notes. I'm not too fussed about this as I didn't have that many notes anyway, but it's a little disappointing.
Now as for the SMS, I managed to get it done pretty painlessly using a fantastic program called Jeyo Mobile Companion (it runs on the PC rather than the device itself). It supports both WM Smartphone and WM Professional, and exports the SMS database as an XML file, which I then managed to import onto my Kaiser. Everything went smoothly, all items seem to be present and in the correct folders too. Fantastic!

Hi to all
I have a problem related to import sms into TYTN II. I have all my old sms that I received on my Samsung D500 in a csv file, but I cant import into TYTN II because Jeyo doesn't read csv and also PIM backup restore only pib file..
Is there any solution??
Thanks

CSV stand for Comma separated value and means that the value [in contact are Name, Surname, Number, etc...] are separated by the comma "," or other punctuation... Wikipedia This format can be open with Excel and convert to xls format...
Do you have your sms in csv format?? How can you import in the TYTN??
Thanks
Bye
I know waht csv is
I was asking for the csv format (the column order, wether or not text should be double quote enclosed) that PIMBackup is using for importing the sms.
I got them into a csv file using Float's Mobile Agent it should work for almost all Sony Ericsson mobiles.

I made a backup with "Binary backup" disable and PIMBackup made a .pib file that I opened with 7zip and I found a .csm file. I opened it with Notepad and I found this code for the csv:
Code:
Msg Id;Sender Name;Sender Address;Sender AddressType;Prefix;Subject;Body;BodyType;Folder;Account;Msg Class;Content Length;Msg Size;Msg Flags;Msg Status;Modify Time;Delivery Time;Recipient Nbr;Recipients;Attachment Nbr;Attachments
Now i will try to edit this csm with my csv info and try to restore... I hope thet it works...

WM6.1 ActiveSync with 2 PCs error code 86000107

Hi, there,
Since i upgraded from t-mobile's original WM6.0 to WM6.1, my ActiveSync 4.5.0 (build 5096, Date Published: 2/13/2007) can no longer sync properly with a second PC for Outlook PIM (contacts and calendar), and gives the error message "ActiveSync encountered a problem on the desktop. Support code: 86000107). It has no problem with the first PC (whichever is sync'ed first), only when sync'ing with the second one.
i'm also sync'ing with an exchange server on both PCs, and no problem there. i've also tried to set up the exchange sync on the phone (as well as on each of the PCs initially), the local PIM sync problem still persists.
I've tried all versions of Dutty's 6.1 ROM and many radios. I'm currently on Dutty's 19199 Lite and NIKI Radio's 1.58.16.27 (seems to be the best combination for me, TomTom nearly as good as WM6.0 + good phone reception, although a bit power hungry and adding speed camera warning to the map noticeably slows TomTom 6.032 build 8351).
i suspect that this is not a problem to do with the cooked ROM or radio, but something to do with Microsoft - perhaps compatibility between WM6.1 and ActiveSync 4.5 that is not fully tested yet?
Is there anyone who has encountered a similar problem? I've tried all search, but no luck.
any fix would be appreciated.
Do you try other WM6.1 cooked ROM(s) from Schaps, Sleuth, Alex, Kyphur and many more?
i tried Schaps, Sleuth, Alex before, as well as Vodafone's original (cannot remember though if this one was OK)
I've just flashed Dutty's WM6.1 Lite (released on Mar 08) few minutes ago and I did have the same error 86000107. It can be synced with either the 1st or the 2nd PC w/o error but not both. Whenever I fix the one then I have a trouble on the other.
I just did a quick search for error 86000107 and a few people solve the problem by doing this:
Uncheck all items in activsync then connect / sync.
Check and re-sync the items 1 at a time.
The problem appears to recur when tasks are selected for syncing. I haven't had this problem myself but have had something similar with syncing notes which I've resolved in a similar manner.
Hope this helps.
ach2, clever that, search for the error code! i tried search for all sync probs...
anyhow, i do not sync Tasks, nor Notes. I believe i tried what was suggested above before, in desperation.
shall try again tonight on the home machine. cheers.
You can this:
1 Changed registry HKLM/System/Version from .dutty to .4.0.2
2 renamed Device Name
3 deleted partnerships in PC and PPC (I had 2 of them, do not know how I got 2nd one)

There are also a lot of discussion on the Artemis Forum re this.
Thanks

cheers, Dave. did try all sorts of deleting partnerships (inc renaming device name), but shall try the registry tweak tonight...
why .4.0.2 though? hec, well, if that works, then it works and is worth a try.
shall report back.

Not my fix mate.
Have to ask taiseer.
Dave
I fixed it by opening new PST file and importing the old one. If it'll not help try to sync under brand new profile in Windows. This helped me...
How I resolved the 86000107 code error
I had this problem also, it occurred with all 6.1 ROMs I tried, did not occur when I went back to 6.0 ROMs. But I was able to fix it in 6.1 ROMs by opening a new .pst file on the second computer and then syncing the files with this new .pst file. I can now go back and forth between the two computers without problem and the error does not recur. I have not tried to reload the old .pst file or its backup from computer 2.
BTW the fix mentioned where you uncheck different information types, sync and then recheck them and sync did not work for me after the first successful sync.
Hope this helps!
sadkosk/safe as milk:
cheers. shall try.
have to admit that i also sync the .pst files at the 2 locations, using Briefcase.
I'm using last Ranju ROM. And this method helped me.
Code:
Uncheck all items in activsync then connect / sync.
Check and re-sync the items 1 at a time.
Interesting...
Code:

Very interesting! I believe i did this before, but now I've re-investigated again. Still not fully working for me, but this works if i sync two, not all three, of the following:
1. push email sync with exchange server (PDA overwrites server if conflict)
2. contacts sync with home PC (PC overwrites PDA if conflict)
3. calendar sync with home PC (PC overwrites PDA if conflict).
NOW EVEN MORE INTERESTING!
------------------------------
Do #1 and 3 first, then no problem adding #2!!! All other combinations will cause a problem how can one explain that?!
Now the only ultimate test left is to see if this still works at work tomorrow...
Sometimes this occurs due to a bad or corrupt item in the calendar, email or other outlook item.
Sometimes it helps to export the whole PIm (Calendar, EMail, Tasks, notes, contacts, etc) and re-import them and sometimes you need to run the outlook repair pst file utility. I know a lot of people will not believe this, but it truly works if you are having sync issues.
If you are using only Exchange sync, you may have to export your data into a PST File.
Inbox Repair tool
If you can't open your Personal Folders file (.pst) or your Offline Folder file (.ost), or you suspect that your .pst or .ost data file is corrupted, you can use the Inbox Repair tool (Scanpst.exe) to diagnose and repair errors in the file. The Inbox Repair tool scans only the .pst or .ost file, not your mailbox on the server running Microsoft Exchange. The tool determines whether the file structure is intact. If it is not intact, the Inbox Repair tool resets your file structure and rebuilds the headers.
The Inbox Repair tool works on both the Microsoft Outlook 97-2002 Personal Folders File (.pst) and the Office Outlook Personal Folders File (.pst) data files in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 and Microsoft Office Outlook 2007.
Scanpst.exe is installed when you install Outlook. It is located at:
drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE12.
Repair errors by using Scanpst.exe
Exit Outlook if it is running.
Double-click Scanpst.exe, located at drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE12.
In the Enter the name of the file you want to scan box, enter the name of the .pst or .ost file that you want to check, or click Browse to search for the file.
To specify the scan log options, click Options, and then click the option that you want.
Click Start.
If errors are found after the scan is complete, you will be prompted to start the repair process to fix the errors.
A backup file is created during the repair process. To change the default name or location of this backup file, in the Enter name of backup file box, enter a new name, or click Browse to look for the file that you want to use.
Click Repair.
Start Outlook by using the profile that contains the .pst file that you tried to repair.
On the Go menu, click Folder List. In the Folder List, you may see a folder named Recovered Personal Folders that contains your default Outlook folders or a Lost and Found folder. The recovered folders are usually empty, because this is a rebuilt .pst file. The Lost and Found folder contains the folders and items recovered by the Inbox Repair tool. Items that are missing from the Lost and Found folder cannot be repaired.
If you see a Recovered Personal Folders folder, you can create a new .pst file, and drag the items in the Lost and Found folder into the new .pst file. When you have finished moving all the items, you can remove the Recovered Personal Folders (.pst) file, including the Lost and Found folder, from your profile.
Notes
If you are able to open the original .pst file, you may be able to recover additional items from your damaged .pst file. By default, the Inbox Repair tool creates a file called file name.bak, which is a copy of the original .pst file with a different extension. The .bak file is located in the same folder as your original .pst file. You may be able to recover items from the .bak file that the Inbox Repair tool could not recover. Make a copy of the .bak file, and give the file a new name with a .pst extension, such as bak.pst. Import the bak.pst file, and then move any additional recovered items to the new .pst file that you created.
A copy of the log file is written to the same location as the .pst file.
I think is wm6.1 not fully compatible on now WMDC or AS.
Try many wm6.1 here.
Similar problem on Vista WMDC, after u sync with 2nd computer, than sync back on 1st computer, it say error on sync.
After I del 2 partnership on both computer, no any problem on both PC sync independently.
eagle 1:
i suspect what you said is correct.
i think i've sorted the problem by re-building a new .pst. when i ran the scan, no problem was found on this newly built pst, but when i ran it on the old one, it reported that there were some minor errors found.
so i guess either the scan or a new build will correct the sync problem. what left now is to test it syncing on my office PC tomorrow.
many thanks for the tip.
sadly, i have to say, none of the above work for me after back and forth a few times (home->office->home).
guess it's something to do with my old outlook (2002)?
Sadly that you waste your time trying to fix this. I posted the result on post #4.
BTW, nothing wrong w/ Outlook 2002, either. I could duplicated your issue while running 2003 and 2007.

open and import "ics" files into WM calendar

I just found the Formula 1 dates, for all races for 2008, as "ics" file and as "pst" file.
I cannot execute the "pst" file in Explorer in my HTC, seems this is only for
the Outlook in normal Windows.
But I can execute the "ICS" file in Explorer in my HTC, but when i look into my Calendar, i see that only one entry has been imported, the first one , in this case only the first race date.
Is it possible that the WM6 pro cannot read the ics files ??
I also tried other ics files and here i have the same probleme:
ONLY THE FIRST ENTRY GET IMPORTED INTO THE CALENDAR
Can someone please help me ??

If you already have the needed file in a PST format then you could just import it in Outlook (desktop) and then sync your device.

I don't have Outlook
There is a 90 day trial on the HTC cd , but a friend of me
tried to install and sync with Outlook and he had problems,
the sync didn't work.
That's the reason why i didn't install the 90 day trial version
i've tried now to import the ics to google calender and then to
sync the google calender with GooSync with my htc.
Surprise , the same problem.
Is it possible that the calendar in my htc is corrupt ?
Install outlook on your desktop.
Email open the ics file with outlook, if it still only show one event the the ICS is invalid.
in outlook all events are visible.
the ics is ok , i've downloaded it from :
http://www.outlooktermine.de/
I've also attached the ics file, maybe someone can try it on his htc ?
As i wrote before , in GooSync the problem is the same.
(In google calender all events are published.)
I've tried to sync my htc but the entries from outlook aren't visible in
my calendar in htc.
Maybe something went wrong by installing and uninstalling other calendars
that i've tried in the last weeks
Your problem is ALMOSt the same as I ahve been tearing my hair out about...and I thnk I have a solution for you!
I fly a LOT on American Airlines and import the .ICS file for each flight into my calendar.
Well, If I have multiple flights in, say, a week or a month and import multiple ICS files, only the last imported file shows up on my Tilt.
The problem is that WM6 uses the field UID in the .ICS file and American Airlines uses the same UID for every .ics. Thus the last imported one overwrites any others in your PDA calendar - even though Outlook on the Desktop correctly shows all of them (Outlook uses more than just the UID to index them).
The solution is for you to open the .ICS file in Wordpad and search for all the UID fields. Then simply edit the UID so that each one is unique. the best way is to just change, say the last 3 digits to an incrementing number.
Then import the .ICS file and all will be well!
Great news , many thx .
Will try this hint tomorrow , it's late now and i've go to work in 7 hours
Will inform you tomorrow if this was the the solution for my problem
good night
your hint don't work
Is it possible that someone try the ics i've posted.
Any other tips for me
thx in advance
Today i've tried some ics files on 2 other Htc with wm6 pro,
none of them works.
Seems we have a typical Microsoft problem
Maybe this will work better in WM6.1 but i doubt,
because WM6.1 is also from Microsoft
THX Guys for your help, seems that we can close this topic now
hello
same problem for me when trying to import ics file from Korganizer on linux ...
the 1st one is displayed and no other ones ...
I've see that there is some caracters conversion problem on ics files ..
on Mandriva thread, I saw that the convertion from ISO8859 to UTF8 is necessary to import ics file to Korganizer ...
could it be a starting resolv solution ? (I try and don't works too)
BTW, the UID on my ics file , are all differents
Bump! whatever happened to this? I'm having this problem
I'm having the same issue described. I was able to upload the calendars for my school (which were in .ics format) but those are the only ones that work. Using .ics files compiled from outlook, or google calendar, only uploads one calendar entry.

Contact (phonebook) editor ?

Hello,
I am looking for a contactlist/phonebook editor (windows xp) to edit the phonebook of the diamond touch ( including the pictures )
I know of the xml backup, but it dumps all contacts separate.
Is anyone working on a easy to use editor ?
thanks in advance.
If you use ActiveSync, the default application is Outlook's address book I believe. It's pretty convenient and has support for editing photos and all different kind of information fields on your contacts.
aye - you get a free outlook with the thing - use it. If you already have outlook running even better.
I just couldnt figure out how to have it sync only a specific category of contact. I know you can do it, i just cant find the setting.......
you can do all your editing on the phone through the menu.
I sync mine through Lotus Traveler only problem is it keeps listing them Surname, Forename instead of the other way around - I keep having to go into each contact individually and change it around after each new ROM install.

How to copy/edit Notes on PC

The title says it all. I need to be able to copy and edit the Notes I have written on my Tilt, on the PC. MS Word can't seem to read it properly....or am I doing it the wrong way?
Any help would be appreciated.
The standard way of doing things would be for you to sync your phone with the PC, and the notes would appear in Outlook just like with the other data.
Are you creating .pwi files? If so, you cannot edit on pc that I know of. Ordinary .txt notes you can. I use the Notepad app for ppc and then the Notes txt editor on PC.
Can the pwi notes be changed or exported into MS Onenote Mobile?
