Hello,
I am looking for a contactlist/phonebook editor (windows xp) to edit the phonebook of the diamond touch ( including the pictures )
I know of the xml backup, but it dumps all contacts separate.
Is anyone working on a easy to use editor ?
thanks in advance.
If you use ActiveSync, the default application is Outlook's address book I believe. It's pretty convenient and has support for editing photos and all different kind of information fields on your contacts.
aye - you get a free outlook with the thing - use it. If you already have outlook running even better.
I just couldnt figure out how to have it sync only a specific category of contact. I know you can do it, i just cant find the setting.......
you can do all your editing on the phone through the menu.
I sync mine through Lotus Traveler only problem is it keeps listing them Surname, Forename instead of the other way around - I keep having to go into each contact individually and change it around after each new ROM install.

I searched this issue on the web, but couldn't find a suitable answer.
When you create a new contact which includes initials like "van de", outlook replaces this with capitals, like "Van De".
It doesn't matter if you create this on the pocketpc or in outlook on the PC, after the first sync there are capitals.
I also looked at AutoCorrect options within outlook, but that doesn't provide a solution.
Hi all,
I need some help please. I received my TyTn II yesterday and now I need to shift all my data (contacts, tasks, sms, etc.) across to the TyTn II before selling my S710.
I know I can use Outlook syncing to get the contacts and tasks across, but can someone please confirm exactly what process I should use as I've previously had syncs wipe the data on my PC when connecting a fresh phone to try and get data onto it. I have already been using the S710 to sync with Outlook 2007 on this PC (ActiveSync 4.5).
Also, can someone please tell me how to get my texts (sms) onto the TyTn II from the S710? - I've got Sprite Backup 6 on the S710, but I don't know whether the "upgrade" backup file option will work between a WM6 Smartphone and a WM6 Professional device. I've actually tried to restore just the "personal databases" from an S710 backup onto my TyTn II but the SMS's don't show up, only call lists and contacts.
Any help and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
- Odie
Get PIMBackup. It's somewhere on the Forum here, and can backup your TXT messages fine!
Heck, I actually used it last week to copy 2600 SMS messages from my Nokia N80 (outputted to .csv) into my Kaiser...
It works great!
I don't actually think that DotFred's PPCPIMbackup - to give it its' real name - will work on a SmartPhone....as the name suggests, it's for "PPC" or Pocket PC devices.
You could ask the man himself - post in the thread in the Development & Hacking forum HERE, or visit his website DotFred.net.
Mark.
Thanks for the suggestions.
I think it might work if I can get my Vox SMS output as CSV, I think I've seen a program that does this. Then I can use PPCPIMbackup to import them into the Kaiser.
contacts, mail, agenda can be synch with outlook
for sms you can save them to SIM
Thanks for all of your replies.
As I had hoped, the contacts and tasks synced successfully from my laptop's Outlook 2007 (after getting the latest stuff synced from my S710)
Notes seem to have messed up in that my multi-line notes have been split into multiple single-line notes. I'm not too fussed about this as I didn't have that many notes anyway, but it's a little disappointing.
Now as for the SMS, I managed to get it done pretty painlessly using a fantastic program called Jeyo Mobile Companion (it runs on the PC rather than the device itself). It supports both WM Smartphone and WM Professional, and exports the SMS database as an XML file, which I then managed to import onto my Kaiser. Everything went smoothly, all items seem to be present and in the correct folders too. Fantastic!

CSV stand for Comma separated value and means that the value [in contact are Name, Surname, Number, etc...] are separated by the comma "," or other punctuation... Wikipedia This format can be open with Excel and convert to xls format...
Do you have your sms in csv format?? How can you import in the TYTN??
Thanks
Bye
I know waht csv is
I was asking for the csv format (the column order, wether or not text should be double quote enclosed) that PIMBackup is using for importing the sms.
I got them into a csv file using Float's Mobile Agent it should work for almost all Sony Ericsson mobiles.

I made a backup with "Binary backup" disable and PIMBackup made a .pib file that I opened with 7zip and I found a .csm file. I opened it with Notepad and I found this code for the csv:
Code:
Msg Id;Sender Name;Sender Address;Sender AddressType;Prefix;Subject;Body;BodyType;Folder;Account;Msg Class;Content Length;Msg Size;Msg Flags;Msg Status;Modify Time;Delivery Time;Recipient Nbr;Recipients;Attachment Nbr;Attachments
Now i will try to edit this csm with my csv info and try to restore... I hope thet it works...
Hello guys. it may be a simple question but I cannot find an answer for this.
I only have the option to sort it by last name.
how can I change to first name listing?
thanks alot!!!
I got the same problem (I used to sort my contact with first name too...)
but seems wm doesn't give any options how we can sort the contact.. sigh...
I think that the only way is to reverse the surname with the name tag in Outlook, at least I have done so.
Full name, I put them in the same field as if it were a composite name and I left blank surname, then if you want the last name first, just invert.
Other methods I have not found for the diamond, there was p3600 shows by name or surname
I found a way.
At Leas on my mac.
I tried 2 softwares to synchronize my Contacts with Diamond..
*SyncMate
- Syncs all goo but no option to sort First Name.
*Missing Sync
- Perfect. Lots of options including sort First or Last Name.
iCal sync, tasks, everything you would expect and more.. it goes even further providing SMS/MMS syncing, itunes, iphoto...
incredible.
If you are like me and uses your HTC Diamond to sync with a Mac for me there's no better choice!
http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_windowsmobile.php
Search for the tiny program called "Contact Changer" This does what you want
Hope this helps.
sync the Diamond to the Outlook on your pc.
In Outlook, select the display method as First Name, Last Name.
Sync again to get the sorted contacts back to the diamond.
or..
change the FILE AS field as required (will take time as this has to be done one by one)
Hey everyone,
Like most of us, I have contacts in lots of places, and I would be happier if I could have them in one place. Google Contacts I think is the most appropriate tool for syncing contacts (not just with phone / Gmail) but with other places too.
It is rather straightforward how to sync Google Contacts with a TD2, but I really hate that when it does sync, it puts contacts in as Lastname,Firstname.
I was suggested that I use Contacts Changer (a Marketplace available app), but because contacts sync with ActiveSync, it keeps re-syncing and putting them back to the Lastname,Firstname format.
Does anyone know a solution to this? Anyone know how to make it show up in the contacts list as Firstname,Lastname? Permanently??
(Note: I considered putting contacts in using only the 'First Name:' field, but then that has downsides too. Sorry if I'm being fussy now )
Mate...I had to edit my 200contacts one by one on Google Contacts...and write them like:
PHIL_JONES
ROBERT_MILES
...
That was the only way so that they would be properly shown in mu HTC D2...
Hope it helps...
Im desperate, i already spent two days to find a way how to import contacts to my lumia 520 with WP8 without using any cloud service like live, hotmail, google, etc. I had a diamond 2 with WM 6.5. I got my screen broken, only what i was able to do - syncing contacts with my computer. Now i have all the contacts in outlook, but i find no way how to import contacts to WP8 with no cloud. Pls. help. If there is a way how to import sms - ill be most happy man on that month
If you have WM 6.5 you can save/export contacts to vCard (*.vcf format) and copy to SD card. Next, you have to install Transfer my data and via this app you can import contacts from SD card.
With this aplication you can too transfer your contacts via bluetooth from your old phone.

I have no access to my old phone anymore. With broken display i have only outlook to be used as a source. Anyway, Transfer My Data app is working with bluetooth, no possibility to access SD card, which is in my case not a solution. Thanks for you effort.

Ok, here is the idea - is it possible to save VCF file to SD card on my laptop and use the laptop as source "mobile phone" via the application? On my laptop i have W7.
Im really getting angry on Microsoft. They always have to screw it up - they are so desperate for our private data.

Export your contacts from Outlook as a CSV. Then you can use Yahoo or Hotmail to import the CSV file. If it has the option to select CSV from Outlook make sure to use that option. It makes a difference if they specify. Whichever account you use you may want to clean your contact list because they will all be mixed in together. What I did was created a second Hotmail account and used that as my WP8 ID and for all of my MS Live account access. Imported my CSV file to that Hotmail account, then setup that Hotmail account on the phone contact list and everything imported in a few minutes. Hope it works for you as well as for me. I really prefer to use ATT address book but it wont work on my unlocked unbraded 520. If you can get ATT address book to work then that is by far an easier way. Login to https://addressbook.att.net/ and setup your account. I'm making the assumption that you have ATT as your provider. Once logged in and setup, import the CSV file there. Then open ATT address book app on your phone. Also set it up as your contact list in settings.
One other possible option: WP can import contacts from the SIM. SIM cards tend to only be able to store a really small number of contacts at once, so it may take several rounds of storing and importing, but it's a think you could try. If your old phone isn't currently usable for this, you could try having it done at a carrier store; they usually have the tools.
By the way, if you're so paranoid about privacy that you don't want MS to even know who is in your contacts list and/or you don't trust their privacy policies, I'm not sure that any modern smartphone is really going to work for you. A completely rooted Android phone with a modified, custom-built ROM, perhaps? All the major smartphone OS vendors use "cloud" synching for things like contacts.
Thanks for help
all of you guys. At the end i spent yesterday 3 hours to manually do that. I export all the contacts and sent them as vcf. Then i received e-mail to my Lumia 520, and one after one - it takes 4 clicks for one contact - added to my contact list. I had like 580 contacts - at least, after few years i delete some of them
Once again - BIG THANKS for your effort!!
Now the second part of the question - as im going to order new digitizer for my loved diamond 2 - how to export/import sms from WM6.5 to WP8 with no cloud?

I hate all this cloud system - i always tried to keep my data private, and stored only local. For the next phone i should ask you guys first, and than get one
