Hi, there,
Since i upgraded from t-mobile's original WM6.0 to WM6.1, my ActiveSync 4.5.0 (build 5096, Date Published: 2/13/2007) can no longer sync properly with a second PC for Outlook PIM (contacts and calendar), and gives the error message "ActiveSync encountered a problem on the desktop. Support code: 86000107). It has no problem with the first PC (whichever is sync'ed first), only when sync'ing with the second one.
i'm also sync'ing with an exchange server on both PCs, and no problem there. i've also tried to set up the exchange sync on the phone (as well as on each of the PCs initially), the local PIM sync problem still persists.
I've tried all versions of Dutty's 6.1 ROM and many radios. I'm currently on Dutty's 19199 Lite and NIKI Radio's 1.58.16.27 (seems to be the best combination for me, TomTom nearly as good as WM6.0 + good phone reception, although a bit power hungry and adding speed camera warning to the map noticeably slows TomTom 6.032 build 8351).
i suspect that this is not a problem to do with the cooked ROM or radio, but something to do with Microsoft - perhaps compatibility between WM6.1 and ActiveSync 4.5 that is not fully tested yet?
Is there anyone who has encountered a similar problem? I've tried all search, but no luck.
any fix would be appreciated.
Do you try other WM6.1 cooked ROM(s) from Schaps, Sleuth, Alex, Kyphur and many more?
i tried Schaps, Sleuth, Alex before, as well as Vodafone's original (cannot remember though if this one was OK)
I've just flashed Dutty's WM6.1 Lite (released on Mar 08) few minutes ago and I did have the same error 86000107. It can be synced with either the 1st or the 2nd PC w/o error but not both. Whenever I fix the one then I have a trouble on the other.
I just did a quick search for error 86000107 and a few people solve the problem by doing this:
Uncheck all items in activsync then connect / sync.
Check and re-sync the items 1 at a time.
The problem appears to recur when tasks are selected for syncing. I haven't had this problem myself but have had something similar with syncing notes which I've resolved in a similar manner.
Hope this helps.
ach2, clever that, search for the error code! i tried search for all sync probs...
anyhow, i do not sync Tasks, nor Notes. I believe i tried what was suggested above before, in desperation.
shall try again tonight on the home machine. cheers.
You can this:
1 Changed registry HKLM/System/Version from .dutty to .4.0.2
2 renamed Device Name
3 deleted partnerships in PC and PPC (I had 2 of them, do not know how I got 2nd one)

There are also a lot of discussion on the Artemis Forum re this.
Thanks
Dave
cheers, Dave. did try all sorts of deleting partnerships (inc renaming device name), but shall try the registry tweak tonight...
why .4.0.2 though? hec, well, if that works, then it works and is worth a try.
shall report back.

Not my fix mate.
Have to ask taiseer.
Dave
I fixed it by opening new PST file and importing the old one. If it'll not help try to sync under brand new profile in Windows. This helped me...
How I resolved the 86000107 code error
I had this problem also, it occurred with all 6.1 ROMs I tried, did not occur when I went back to 6.0 ROMs. But I was able to fix it in 6.1 ROMs by opening a new .pst file on the second computer and then syncing the files with this new .pst file. I can now go back and forth between the two computers without problem and the error does not recur. I have not tried to reload the old .pst file or its backup from computer 2.
BTW the fix mentioned where you uncheck different information types, sync and then recheck them and sync did not work for me after the first successful sync.
Hope this helps!
sadkosk/safe as milk:
cheers. shall try.
have to admit that i also sync the .pst files at the 2 locations, using Briefcase.
I'm using last Ranju ROM. And this method helped me.
Code:
Uncheck all items in activsync then connect / sync.
Check and re-sync the items 1 at a time.
Interesting...

Very interesting! I believe i did this before, but now I've re-investigated again. Still not fully working for me, but this works if i sync two, not all three, of the following:
1. push email sync with exchange server (PDA overwrites server if conflict)
2. contacts sync with home PC (PC overwrites PDA if conflict)
3. calendar sync with home PC (PC overwrites PDA if conflict).
NOW EVEN MORE INTERESTING!
------------------------------
Do #1 and 3 first, then no problem adding #2!!! All other combinations will cause a problem how can one explain that?!
Now the only ultimate test left is to see if this still works at work tomorrow...
Sometimes this occurs due to a bad or corrupt item in the calendar, email or other outlook item.
Sometimes it helps to export the whole PIm (Calendar, EMail, Tasks, notes, contacts, etc) and re-import them and sometimes you need to run the outlook repair pst file utility. I know a lot of people will not believe this, but it truly works if you are having sync issues.
If you are using only Exchange sync, you may have to export your data into a PST File.
Inbox Repair tool
If you can't open your Personal Folders file (.pst) or your Offline Folder file (.ost), or you suspect that your .pst or .ost data file is corrupted, you can use the Inbox Repair tool (Scanpst.exe) to diagnose and repair errors in the file. The Inbox Repair tool scans only the .pst or .ost file, not your mailbox on the server running Microsoft Exchange. The tool determines whether the file structure is intact. If it is not intact, the Inbox Repair tool resets your file structure and rebuilds the headers.
The Inbox Repair tool works on both the Microsoft Outlook 97-2002 Personal Folders File (.pst) and the Office Outlook Personal Folders File (.pst) data files in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 and Microsoft Office Outlook 2007.
Scanpst.exe is installed when you install Outlook. It is located at:
drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE12.
Repair errors by using Scanpst.exe
Exit Outlook if it is running.
Double-click Scanpst.exe, located at drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE12.
In the Enter the name of the file you want to scan box, enter the name of the .pst or .ost file that you want to check, or click Browse to search for the file.
To specify the scan log options, click Options, and then click the option that you want.
Click Start.
If errors are found after the scan is complete, you will be prompted to start the repair process to fix the errors.
A backup file is created during the repair process. To change the default name or location of this backup file, in the Enter name of backup file box, enter a new name, or click Browse to look for the file that you want to use.
Click Repair.
Start Outlook by using the profile that contains the .pst file that you tried to repair.
On the Go menu, click Folder List. In the Folder List, you may see a folder named Recovered Personal Folders that contains your default Outlook folders or a Lost and Found folder. The recovered folders are usually empty, because this is a rebuilt .pst file. The Lost and Found folder contains the folders and items recovered by the Inbox Repair tool. Items that are missing from the Lost and Found folder cannot be repaired.
If you see a Recovered Personal Folders folder, you can create a new .pst file, and drag the items in the Lost and Found folder into the new .pst file. When you have finished moving all the items, you can remove the Recovered Personal Folders (.pst) file, including the Lost and Found folder, from your profile.
Notes
If you are able to open the original .pst file, you may be able to recover additional items from your damaged .pst file. By default, the Inbox Repair tool creates a file called file name.bak, which is a copy of the original .pst file with a different extension. The .bak file is located in the same folder as your original .pst file. You may be able to recover items from the .bak file that the Inbox Repair tool could not recover. Make a copy of the .bak file, and give the file a new name with a .pst extension, such as bak.pst. Import the bak.pst file, and then move any additional recovered items to the new .pst file that you created.
A copy of the log file is written to the same location as the .pst file.
I think is wm6.1 not fully compatible on now WMDC or AS.
Try many wm6.1 here.
Similar problem on Vista WMDC, after u sync with 2nd computer, than sync back on 1st computer, it say error on sync.
After I del 2 partnership on both computer, no any problem on both PC sync independently.
eagle 1:
i suspect what you said is correct.
i think i've sorted the problem by re-building a new .pst. when i ran the scan, no problem was found on this newly built pst, but when i ran it on the old one, it reported that there were some minor errors found.
so i guess either the scan or a new build will correct the sync problem. what left now is to test it syncing on my office PC tomorrow.
many thanks for the tip.
sadly, i have to say, none of the above work for me after back and forth a few times (home->office->home).
guess it's something to do with my old outlook (2002)?
Sadly that you waste your time trying to fix this. I posted the result on post #4.
BTW, nothing wrong w/ Outlook 2002, either. I could duplicated your issue while running 2003 and 2007.

The easiest way would probably be to import them into Outlook and then sync with your Diamond. Outlook accepts different kinds of delimited .CSV as well as different generations of .XLS and even Access db files so you are not in any way restricted to .wab (which is actually Windows Address Book and not Outlook)
I do not have outlook (i only use webmails).
But ... is there a way to type in my contact on my PC (easier) using a freeware ?

Okay then... refer to this link http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-...import-contacts-csv-file-without-outlook.html - someone here had exactly the same issue you do and they got it resolved without Outlook. Hope this helps
You can also try Jeyo Mobile Companion http://www.jeyo.com which has a feature to import many kinds of files (including .csv) straight into your device without the need for Outlook
TNX gust i'll test later this WE.
Any one can tell me, What Diamond Contacts file type is? and if can be edited?
Do NOT hesitate for any forward suggestions?

No one has a tip... ???
Please: Where are the contact stored on the Diamond & can this be edited ?
Thx a lot

Hello guys. it may be a simple question but I cannot find an answer for this.
I only have the option to sort it by last name.
how can I change to first name listing?
thanks alot!!!
I got the same problem (I used to sort my contact with first name too...)
but seems wm doesn't give any options how we can sort the contact.. sigh...
I think that the only way is to reverse the surname with the name tag in Outlook, at least I have done so.
Full name, I put them in the same field as if it were a composite name and I left blank surname, then if you want the last name first, just invert.
Other methods I have not found for the diamond, there was p3600 shows by name or surname
I found a way.
At Leas on my mac.
I tried 2 softwares to synchronize my Contacts with Diamond..
*SyncMate
- Syncs all goo but no option to sort First Name.
*Missing Sync
- Perfect. Lots of options including sort First or Last Name.
iCal sync, tasks, everything you would expect and more.. it goes even further providing SMS/MMS syncing, itunes, iphoto...
incredible.
If you are like me and uses your HTC Diamond to sync with a Mac for me there's no better choice!
http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_windowsmobile.php
Search for the tiny program called "Contact Changer" This does what you want
Hope this helps.
sync the Diamond to the Outlook on your pc.
In Outlook, select the display method as First Name, Last Name.
Sync again to get the sorted contacts back to the diamond.
or..
change the FILE AS field as required (will take time as this has to be done one by one)
Hello,
I am looking for a contactlist/phonebook editor (windows xp) to edit the phonebook of the diamond touch ( including the pictures )
I know of the xml backup, but it dumps all contacts separate.
Is anyone working on a easy to use editor ?
thanks in advance.
If you use ActiveSync, the default application is Outlook's address book I believe. It's pretty convenient and has support for editing photos and all different kind of information fields on your contacts.
aye - you get a free outlook with the thing - use it. If you already have outlook running even better.
I just couldnt figure out how to have it sync only a specific category of contact. I know you can do it, i just cant find the setting.......
you can do all your editing on the phone through the menu.
I sync mine through Lotus Traveler only problem is it keeps listing them Surname, Forename instead of the other way around - I keep having to go into each contact individually and change it around after each new ROM install.
