Problem with Windows mobile device center - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

When i connect my diamond to my computer (under vista 64 ultimate SP1 french), i've got this message : votre connection rencontre un problème. veuillez déconnecter et reconnecter votre appareil, puis réessayer (your connection encounters a problem. Please disconnect and reconnect your device, then retry).
Tried to reinstall WMDC, no succes.
Tried on other computers (under vista an XP), no problem.
I can access the phone, flash new roms, but i can't sync my device.
Anyone has an idea to solve this ?

No one ???

Unplug your phone, delete the connection, plug the phone, create new connection. That should do it.

WMDC has many issues. I've been using a pocket PC for nearly 8 years and never had as much difficulty syncing my device as I have had with Vista!
Aside from what the moderator offered, there is no real option. I've tried re-booting the system with limited success.

Also please remember that WM6.1 has a bug which won't allow it to sync multiple computers. A search will lead you to that thread, but as far as I'm concerned, no solution worked for me...

Try this:
http://www.tipandtrick.net/2008/win...drop-and-not-sync-with-vista-wmdc-activesync/
Did not the job for me, flashing a new rom was my solution...
cheers

No connection to delete. I have also tried to uninstall WMDC, but same issue. I can access the diamond, but i can't configure a connection. So no sync available.

No more idea ?

Unable to establish a connection between the PC and the device. Get up-to-date solutions to common connection problems. Please click the following link:

that link is of no use. The tray has a network connection icon which shows it isnt able to get an ip address. ive been searching on google for hours and read countless forums. but no solution found . The device was connecting and syncing perfectly fine before i formatted and reinstalled windows. Anyone having any idea? :S

USB Issue.

Hello there,
I've been searching around the internet now for about 3 hours to no avail, I have even resorted to emailing HTC for help. Thats how desperate I am.
I have a MDA Vario III (HTC TYTN 2) that has worked flawlessly for a long time (since christmas) but has suddenly stopped communicating with Activesync.
Im not bothered about syncing contacts etc, all i want to do is use the file browser to download and upload photos etc.
I have tried all the suggestions i have found so far (enabling adanced network functionality, disabling it, reinstalling Activesync etc.) to no working answer.
Can anyone help me?
raty
Not sure if you tried this or not. Delete your existing partnership and then reconnect it. Good luck. Activesync sux.
Hey,
I've deleted the partnerships off my vario3, and completly reinstalled activesync. Still didnt work.
Ive taken the phone into the T-mobile shop i bought it from, they seem a little too keen to send it off for repairs, maybe this is turning into more of a regular thing that i thought?
Kept onto the phone just for now, I wnt to try and fix it before i send it off.
Uh... why send it off if you fix it?
read through this thread and look at post #10 and see if your computer is detecting the device at all..
also try removing your simcard and microSD card and connect your device to your pc in bootloader mode and see if it says USB on the bottom.

It's probably the Notification queues have lost their active sync bits
use Pocket IE or Opera (mobile) to download and install something like MemMaid or SKTools
you can then add the Active Sync components back into the notification queues, and then rebuild them
Once done you should be able to sync etc
notification queues! What is that?
First I ever heard of that. I am having active sync issues as well and I have tried everything in this post.
Nothing works, it connected a few nights ago and it all of a sudden stayed connected all night. I am Back to having problems again.
Does anyone know if avast will hurt active sync?
here is your answer...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=362679
read thorugh EVERY LINK and you should be good
ive read through those links and none of them have a fix for me.
The computer recognises my phone, in device manager it comes up under Windows CE USB Devices as HTC USB Sync.
i shall try the bootloader idea and report back.
@Kimtyson- if i fix it i wont be sending it off, that would be obsurd
@pjwilkin- i have never come across that before while reading about the titan, fancy sharing some knowledge?
Just got my phone into bootloader (thanks wiki) and when the usb cable is connected it says USB and the computer starts to install drivers etc.
***bump***
sorry thats not proper foru etiquet but im desperate for som answers
Some further things to try
Can you connect via Activesync using Bluetooth? What about on other PCs and on other USB ports on your PC? What happens if you delete that HTC USB Sync listing in device manager, unplug the phone, reboot the PC and then reinstall Activesync 4.5 (I use the CDROM the phone came with the phone for that)? See if you can get the phone shop to plug it into one of their PCs with Activesync or WMDC.If it's showing up in your PCs device manager then it's likely some sort of problem/configuration issue with your desktop PC it's connecting to - not a problem with the phone itself.
this has happened to me ..
i vote for changing usb ports..
you probly already did so..
please post when you fix it..

im assuming that all activesync services etc load up ?

Problme Syncing Tilt with Vista/ActiveSync

I recently got a new PC with Vista Ultimat. Synchronizing the phone has been a nitemare.
If i hook the phone up, the computer beeps in recognition; I can even browse files on the phone sometimes. But ActiveSynch says I'm disconnected, the phone says I'm connected.
I find the only way I can get the synch to happen is to install MS Mobile Device Center 6.1 . I have the phone hooked up during the install, and during the install the phone is recognized and it will synch.
Any ideas on improving this. I"m surprised I didn't find this and a solution already out here (maybe using wrong search terms.).
Thanks
Try the info in here.

Thansk for pointing that out, but it didn't help.
And, interestingly, even reinstalling WMDC doesn't always work either.
What rom are you using? I had problems synching when I flashed Garmin dk2 rom. But all others work fine.
Try this, it worked for me.
Go to start<<settings<<connections tab. Then select the USB to PC icon. Uncheck enable advanced network functionality. Restart PPC and then try to re-sync.

New Xperia will not connect with Vista

Hi,
I am getting a bit frustrated over this.
When I connect my X1 to my Vista x86 nothing happens (well the USB task tray icon show for about a second and vanishes again).
When I disable the "advanced option" in the USB/PC connection settings in the X1 I at least get a USB connection with something identified as "PocketPC USB Sync".
Any idea why this is happening and how I can get a real connection with the win mobile device center?
Thanks for helping me out!
Cheers,
Tillman
maybe give this a try:
http://modernnomads.info/wiki/index.php?page=Windows+Mobile+Device+Center+Troubleshooting
I've once had the issues of not able to connect my Windows Mobile device with vista too, and it can get very annoying.. good luck with it.
You might want to try and disable the firewall and then connect the device. I had this problem with Sygate Personal Firewall (sygate was bought by symantec and personal firewall is now terminated and no longer available)
Thanks for the quick response guys!
I already tried disabling the firewall (nod32) but that did not help.
Also checked all services - everything is peachy in that department.
But still - no connection.
When I switch back to "legacy mode" (disabling the advanced option in usb/pc settings on the device) then the device will tell me that I need to install active sync 4.5 or higher and wmdc still does not connect.
This is really strange...and annoying and the same time.
Any more ideas or any way for me to debug what's going on?
Thanks for you help!
Have you intalled "Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1" on your Vista-PC?
The MobileDeviceCenter should be standard without the need to install...
At my Vista Home the X1 had no problems to connect.
Open the Mobile Device Center and delete all old connections of other PPC. Then start your PC again, Softreset your X1 and try again. This should help. I had the problems too, when first connecting, because he didn't liked my G900-connection which was first
After this I too could install my G900 again and no problems since yet (2 weeks).

Well sometimes the Mobile Device center could stuff up or not work due to some issues such as installation of Mobile Device Center 6.1 went wrong. I have experienced that I think I didn't follow the procedures correctly and things just wouldn't work. Eventually I had to do some uninstall and reinstall many times to finally get it working.
When I first plugged mine it it installed some drivers but didn't show up in the Mobile Device Center; unplugging and replugging in caused it to work...did you change settings in between plugging in for the second time?
What I have tried so far (and nothing worked):
Uninstall / reinstall WMDC
Uninstall / reinstall Win Mobile Remote Adapter (yes, this does show up once I am connected with "advanced" USB mode)
Uninstall / reinstall "PocketPC USB Sync" (shows when X1 is set to legacy USB mode)
When in "advanced" mode I can also see a new LAN connection showing up in network overview.
The same X1 on a different Vista 32bit right next to this one will connect just fine. So it's definitely about a driver or config thing with this Vista.
This is driving me...well you know what.
btw, you did try restarting your comp when performing some of those steps, and you did try different USB ports right?
I know that you had to ask.
Yes I did. I have rebooted the system several times in between all those reinstallation tasks.
By the way. When I am in USB legacy mode and reconnect the USB cable then the X1 will show a messagebox telling me that it's connecting with the host and that the user credentials / user account (having to translate here) are correct.
But still NO connection visible in WMDC.
I had the same problem with my X1. I assumed that because my HTC Diamond worked the X1 would as well.
I finally installed WMDC from the SE install cd, and bingo!! al good. Hope it works for you...
Wow!
Even though it does not work (yet) it's showing some new signs.
Installing WMDC from SE disc fails at 99% progress and then rolls back.
There's gotta be some installation error log this, right?
Thanks for coming up with that suggestion. Really, I should try installing from vendor CDs more often instead of hunting down the latest version on the net.

maybe give event viewer a try and check under Windows Logs (not sure if it will be application or system tho)
just in case you aren't sure, in vista either type in "Event Viewer" in the start menu search bar, or type in "eventvwr"
Don't you just like vista?
That helped (to install SE's WMDC). The issue was that my HTC Universal was still connected to one USB port (for testing purposes since that device is not recognized either).
As soon as I unplugged the HTC I was able to complete the WMDC installation.
Unfortunately though it still won't connect to my X1.
Any more ideas?
what is your settings in Windows Mobile Device Center connection Settings?
Well here is my settings that is working with my x1:
Allow USB connections checked
Allow connections to "DMA"
This computer is connected to "Automatic" (this shouldn't matter)
Allow automatic device authentication checked
Allow data connection on device when connected to PC (this shouldn't matter either)
also, while this link was in the first link that I have posted for trouble shooting, just want to make sure you actually tried The offical Windows Mobile Device Center troubleshooting guide?
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-center-troubleshooting.mspx
namely these steps:
Quote"
If Windows Live OneCare is installed on your machine, it may be blocking the device connectivity. Please click here for the steps to configure Windows Live OneCare to allow the device to connect.
My device wasn’t connected during this installation.
While it is not a strict requirement that you have a device connected during the installation process of Windows Mobile Device Center, we highly recommend that you do.
"
I didn't have the DMA set (changed that now). Everything else already was like you described and it does not work.
This really freaks me out. I always hated my iTunes/iPhone connectivity but that honestly works much smoother. Of course I do understand that this behavior is non standard as I have experienced myself that the phone works with my other Vista machine but that does not really help me here.
Any update on this? I am having the same problem.
I'm having the _exact_ same problem too, but in Vista x64. I don't know why WMDC can be such a c**t sometimes, as I have never been able to 'sync' with my Media Center PC.
My only saving grace is that my laptop has Bluetooth, and syncing works great on it. I have never had success connecting the USB cable (with many options changed around of course) to either of these computers. Only Bluetooth syncing works for me...
Hopefully we can find the answer!
What USB cable are you using??? the one that came with Xperia??? Cos the one that came with my Xperia never worked out of the box, it could only charge...
I also got another extra cord which came in another box, that worked fine for both syncing and transferring data until today, now it says USB device not recognized, maybe I was trying the flash X1 with new ROM through SEUS, did the whole lower volume key and power button to get the 3 strips.
Now I am using the USB cable that came with my external HDD, that's currently working, hopefully it won't fail me.
so any ideas??? I don't want to keep changing cables...

Connection issue with Vista, help

Please could anyone help me! The windows mobile device centre suddenly stopped to recognize my Compact IV! It just says Not connected... I tried several things such as Connect with Active sync or Disc Drive (on the phone), unticked 'enable advanced network funcitionality, disabled Norton security, reinstalled the mobile device centre... always rebooting the Vista. It still wont connect!!! Anyone with more ideas to try?
I can access the internal storage from Vista, but I as its not connected with the mobile device centre, it doenst allow me to sync and install any exe files!
Appreciate any help (and I have searched forums, yes) Thanks
did you try to softreset and or hardreset your diamond ?
which version is your? my wmdc is 6.1 and working, the older didn't...
The same thing happens to me. I have to reboot my computer and soft reset my phone and then try again, and it works. I'm using version 6.1.6965 of WMDC.
tried many times
Thanks guys, but doesnt seem to help. Tried rebooting PC and the phone, still no luck. Even tried different USB ports!
Any idea could still try? Its so frustrating!!
I have the same problem but I sync to Vista using bluetooth instead of using the lead as it works every time. I gave up trying to sync using the lead.
help needed still
Bluetooth is so slow... Really want the USB cable connection to work. Apprecieate anyone could help! Please?! Tried with different cable but didnt help. Frustrating!
