Hey everyone,
Been trawling through the forums reading as much as i can. I have a new Diamond, free upgrade from Vodafone. Im having a little bit of trouble with the battery, yes i have searched lol!
When i get a missed call or a text message the backlight turns of after, if i ignore the call or text, but the phone remains very hot. I think this heat is draining the battery, as last night i didnt realise i had a missed call and the battery bar went down about a 1/4 in just two hours!
Is this a normall thing that they all do? I think as there is a text running in the background the phone stays active even though the screen is off. This is doing my head in.
Also when i receive a call, the phone doesnt ring for ages, i tried it with my wifes phone, and it rang 5 times on her phone before mine started ringing!
Anyone know why these things might be happening?
Thanks in advance.
James.
Just tested it again, screen off phone cold, screen off with sms in background hot hot hot!

I flashed my phone and got open touch working great, after a couple of weeks it suddenly started making this loud noise, every time I hit the red (hang up) button, even with the keys locked. it also makes the noise when I hit the green (call) button when i call some one.
the first time, I did a hard reset and it fixed it, but yesterday the phone's battery died on me, and when I charged it and turned it on. it was doing it again.
is there any way to fix this without hard reseting it. or a way to prevent this.
it noise it makes is the STANDARD alarm when receiving a text message. but like I said is making it all day long every time i call and even when is in my pocket.. thanks.....

Not sure why your having this problem, but you should move this question to the correct thread so I and others can help you. Instead of creating a new thread.
Thanks,

Try and flash your device with a different rom to see if this problem continues.
As for the correct thread, I mean the original thread where you got the download link from.
Thanks,
flash with another rom!!!
as far using other roms, all I got to say us that I really like this one, but i am open for suggestions, what other rom???
I thınk it can be technical problem
I had the same problem with a different rom and found the solution here:

hi people,
i have a big problem, the phone stopped vibrating when i recieve a call and when i play teeter. It's very strange, battery is working and the the sound is ok.I performed a full hard reset but nothing to do.My rom version is the ultimate official firmware 1.37.408.3 ita.
I hope someone can help me here. Thanks
Mine had same problem. I did soft reset, hard reset but nothing worked. Strange thing that it vibrated some times on call but not working in Teeter at all. I took it to service center and they told its faulty. I have returned it now. I suggest you to go to service centre.
Regards.
Hi,
strangely after some days, the phone and the game are vibrating normally now.
Touch Pro not vibrating all of a sudden
Came up with this topic after doing a search and despite my phone being a pro and not a Diamond I am asking this in this thread as the 2 phones are basically the same and well vibrating is a universal thing with phones these days compared to the 80's early 90's when if a phone did vibrate it was a luxury.
My touch Pro has all of a sudden stopped vibrating and after doing a hard reset nothing has changed
The Author of this thread had a problem to me which sounds the same and he mentioned after a couple of days it started working again. I hope the same happens to me but will wait a couple of days to see if it does before taking it to the service centre.
Fabrik78 is your phone still vibrating 5 months down the line?
I can hear nothing shaking inside so to me it doesnt sound like the motor has come loose but still got me pauzzled.
Has anyone else had the same problem and has it rectified itself like Fabrik78's phone and if yes does anyone have any idea why it has done it and how long should I wait before I get it checked. My phone is about 3 months old.
Cheers
John from downunder
Does it vibrate when you turn on the phone?
Cause as soon as it boots it gives a little test vibrate.
Greets.
No, it doesn't, thats why I was checking to see if Fabrik78's is still working. Going by his description its the same as mine. He didn't say anything about the starting up but I would gather saying no vibrating would include the starting up test vibrate.
I'm having a similar problem with my 6 week old Touch Pro. It never vibrates anymore, not even on startup. It just stopped working a few days ago
Mine stopped vibrating a while back and I had just figured it was the rom I was playing with (around the same time frame) but it finally started bothering me so I reverted back to the shipped rom, hard reset messed around with settings and still no vibrations, not even at boot. Finally called spring yesterday morning for a replacement I'm assuming it's a known issue as the rep was rather fast to send a replacement without even the mention of bringing it to a store to be checked out but that could just be a cool rep.
This has kind of happened to me, I think.
It was 5am the other day and I was recieveing texts but had it on vibrate but could feel it. Then again, it could have been me really tired.
I'll post back if I notice it again.
It does work with Tweeter though, or whatever the games called
htc touch pro stopped vibrating
so i've had my pro for about five months now and it just started to not vibrate.
it doesnt vibrate when i receive messages, calls, startup or on teeter.
i dont know if i should wait a while or talk to a sprint rep.
please give me feedback
I have noticed that over the past year (almost) with my Kaiser, through the many problems, none major , many times I have gotten frustrated and just shut down my Kaiser for the night and went to bed.
Only to find the next morning that the problem went away. Now I know it could be because of the soft reset involved ( though many times a soft reset didn't initially solve the problem) or giving the battery a rest, or letting the unit cool down. But to me, shutting down every night seems to cure a lot of ills. And prevent some.
I just want to throw out the " Question of the Day "
What does everyone do with their phone at night and why?
How many people shut down completely, How many just put it to sleep, And how many people just leave it on always and forever.
P.S. Didn't make a poll because I hate polls. Just wanted to discuss.
My phone is my alarm clock so I leave it with the screen off on my bedside, face down because the flashing LED's drive me mad

I know, but I only want it off at night. I could probably do something with MortScript or even in C# if I could be bothered.
Dave
Mine stays on...always....forever...ON...always.........at night on standby...lots of reminders, alarms etc......never had problems now going on 7 months.
What kind of problems does this solve?
Mine is always on. I also use it for my alarm clock.
Also face down, otherwise the speaker doesn't sound loud enough to wake me!

Maybe it has to do with the circuits cooling down. There's a reason why PCs have heat sinks and cooling fans.
The Tilt/Kaiser gets hotter than any phone I ever had.
I normally trek on the weekends, so i switch it off and kiss my phone goodbye . Weekdays, don't ever switch it off...
mine is also my alarm clock so i keep mine on for as long as i can. sometimes though, it does act up and i do have to reset, maybe once or twice every month or so =)
I turn mine off at night when I go to sleep and give it a full recharge every night.

Exact same here
Yesterday night I actually turned the phone off because some moron sent me a bogus text message half an hour after i fell asleep which pissed me off, and coming from him I expected that more would arrive... but that's very rare.
Since a week or so I've had some minor problems with my Diamond.
First after a couple of hours with no use, I saw the led blinking (hey, a new text messag, let's have a look) and the phone wouldn't wake up.
Even pressing the power button for a long time didn't make a difference, I resorted to taking out the battery and restarting it that way.
Everything was back to normal after turning it back on so I didn't really worry about it.
Until this weekend, I tried to wake it up from standby and the screen looked euhm... rather strange
I made a picture of it (please have a look at the attachment). In this state it didn't respond to any button, not even a long press of the power button.
While I was putting back my camera this screen disappeared and the normal touchflo was back, but still the device didn't respond to anything.
So again I resorted to removing the battery and everything has been fine eversince...
But now I'm a bit worried... Anyone have any idea what might be causing this? I must say it's been quite warm in my house the last week (about 27C) so I can imagine that temperature could have an effect...
Thanks for any suggestions.
Oh, I almost forgot..
It's a stock Dutch Diamond.
The latest ROM (2.03.404.3 NLD)
Radio 2.09.25.23
Protocol 52.51.25.26H
That's a cool screen saver!

It sure is
My first thought was: Oeh! Capture it!!
But I couldn't start the screencap program because well... the screen didn't really work
I have seen too this strange screen in my Diamond a couple of times, but I couldn't tell the reason. I was forced to reset the device as well.
I'm curious about the reason, any ideas?

Has your Diamond been functioning normally after that? Or has it developed more problems (and has perhaps been repaired)?
I'm a bit worried that this is the beginning of major problems...
Hi guys!
I have a big problem with my G1. I purchased it in eBay from other user, and it has normal scrach in the corners.
The phone came with standard firmware (1.0) so I made a upgrade and rooted it. I've it in Cyanogen 4.2.4.
*The first problem is the battery performance, charging full it runs on "stand by" almost 7 to 8 hours, maybe 2 o 3 calls of 4/5 minutes, 2 or 3 SMS and no more...(all turned off:GPS/WiFi/BT/low backlight)
Right, I bought another generic battery from eBay, and it was worst! It runs about 5 hours on stand by...
I tryed a lot of things, reading about battery issues of other users and made a battery reset (dischargue it until the phone doesn't turn on and then charge it to 100%, x3 or x4 times). I've installed "Advanced task manager" to stop all the apps in background and the problem continues...
Comparing with a friend's G1, I found in mine G1 the "Spare parts" app from Cyanogen Rom, in the tab "battery history" where said "time spent without sleeping: 97%" and the my friend's G1 is about 10% max... so, this indicates that my G1 is doing something that I can't see because it's warm when I carry it in my pocket. (in "spare parts" appears that twice batts are Health:OK)
I tryed taking off the SD card, and nothing.
I tryed a hard reset, and runing some days without installing extra apps and nothing, the battery performance is veeery poor!
*The other problem that the G1 has, is when I take off my pocket (is warm) to answer a call or simply do something and the screen turns black! I see the backlight but nothing appears... I should press many times the "end call button" to make the screen back...It happens a lot of times around the day...
I don't know if this problem have something related with the battery issue.
I likeee a lot Android, but the @$%&# G1 is a troublee, I'm soooo bored with it!
I'm thinking that this issues are a hardware problem, I dismantled the G1, carefully and all were ok, none of the flex that communicates the boards seems bad...so I don't know what to do!
Pleeease help meeee!!!
Thanks all the people that take time to read and answer it, I appreciated!!!
I'll be pending for your answers! =)
[Sorry for my baaaad english, I'm learning. ]

EDIT: I've 5 Google Wave Invitations, if somebody want it, plz tell me and I'll give it to you!
Turn off Auto Rotate so your accelerometer isn't always on. You could turn off syncing too.
Upgrade to a 2.0 ROM, I've had great battery life.
Your english is fine btw...better than many Americans...
Thanks Deathwish238, for your help! (tks too for your comment about my english )
I already have the Auto Rotate off and the auto syncing too.
But now the battery issue is not the "important" problem...I'm having a lot of problems with the screen, I should push the "end call" button about 10 or more times, or change the battery reperdly and finally works. But, imagine if you want to anwer a call or make an urgent call!!! I couldn't!
I'm so bored with this issues, I wanna throw it!!!! But my love for Android is more! XD
I wanna fix it, but I need to know what is the problem...
check that your backlight isnt staying on whenyou close G1 - that would drain the battery fairly fast - easiest to check in a dark place - just look between screen and keyboard
might not be the issue but worth checking
cqms13, thanks for your comment! =)
I checked that before, and no, the backlight is not staying on.
I'm worried about the heat of the phone when I carry it in my pocket, the phone is doing nothing (and all turned off too, just the cell radio) and is so heat when I pull off from the pocket... That could be the origin of the problems with the screen and the low performance of the battery...
How can I discover what's generating the heat??
