HELP- red, green, blue, and white pattern on startup - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hello all:
I turned on my AT&T Tilt (8925) and for no apparent reason I got a pattern of red, green, blue and white stripes.
On the red stripe it says:
KAIS1*0 MFG
SPL-1.0.OliPof
CPLD-8
On the white stripe it says "Serial".
It won't go pass the stripes. I performed hardSPL about a year ago if that matters.
Any ideas what's going on? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

try plugging in the cable and turn on the phone, if it says usb where serial was before you should be good to go, you'll probably have to do a hard reset or upgrade your spl and load another rom.

If by hard reset you are referring to taking out the battery, I have already tried that.
Just before the red, green, blue and white stripes there is a brief messege saying: Loading...No image
I am guessing I lost my ROM.
How do I upgrade SPL and install ROM without an ActiveSync connection??
Thank you

Why not start reading the forum. This is covered MANY times.
To upgrade a rom look here
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Kaiser#ROMx20.Upgrading
To hard reset ( Removing a battery does NOT perform a hard reset ) look here
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser_Resets
If you cant get your phone back up and running, use this as your last resort.

Next time read......... this is ALL on the first page of the Kaiser wiki........

Just download spl 3.56 flash that get a new rom and run it if it recognizes the phone there is a connection, proceed and phone should come back to life, try romeos v4 very good rom.

u cant play with spl now cuz u dont have an os therfore not able to run sspl
its weird problem and i think its caused by corrupted rom image... try to flash ur rom - ur device appears unlocked still try to flash a shipped rom att or htc depending on ur device
good luck - u should have ur phone up and running after a flash
btw as soon as u flash - perform a hard reset
use shipped rom
use wm 6.0

Thanks all.
Apparently I have a bad microUSB among other things. The issue with the HTC microUSB is documented here. This may or may not have caused this. I plugged the USB cable as bibobrian suggested and the device moved on beyond the stripes, but problems with microUSB persist. I am going to try to fix it and update you.
Thanks for your help.

I've the same problem, ad although I've tried reading the threads I am techologically challlenged; stoopid.
I've plugged in the XTC via the USB cable and indeed the USB notification replaces the word serial.
However, the hard reset does nothing. It sayd you should do this with the phone not connected or charging, so as soon as I disconnect the cable it reverts to the word serial. Either like this, or still connected, a hard reset just re-generates the three coloured screen.
I guess that I could work my way slowly through the ROM stuff etc, but not until I can hard reset.
Any more sugestions that an idiot like me could follow? Otherwise, it's off to the O2 shop to get it sent off for repair.

Hi Jahrami,
Thanks.
Just tried it but looked like I got a corrupted file through the download as it wouldn't run/unpack. I'm downloading again, and will give it another go when I have it.
I don't usually have much success with these things, so wish me luck! Or it's a 2 week wait for a repair.

Hi Jahrami,
No joy. Can't get an Active Sync connection. This is why my PDA wasn't backed up in the first place, as I haven't been able to get it to connect for months.
I could see it as a storage device, but Active Synch wouldn't recognised it. Possible because I'm using Vista? Can't see it at all now, and just downloaded device centre again.
Off to the flipping shop.....

Error 270

Hi everyone!
I've got a big problem. I Flashed my 3600 (Swisscom version XPA v1510) with Karmba's WM6 in en. 3 Days later i want to flash a ger version. then it has a failure. since then, ever when i want to flash something (wm5, HTC wm6 lit, bepe etc. cid unlock crashproof spl etc.) it goes to 1% or by cid to 7% then my trinity goes black screen, i hear the "usb connection lost" sound on my pc and the RUU says error 270 update error, the image file is corrupt. i loaded down the files several times, on my loc. HD, ext HD, SD card... nothing works. when i turn on my phon normally, the htc screen appears wit a swisscom label at the bottom, with some numbers and then... nothing. i can't do anything. i only can start it in bootlader mod with a key combination... i need my phone, so i need help please! i've seen, when i put in my mini sd and start the bootloader, before the 3 color screen appears, it says "loading" can i eventually flash from the card? i'm really despaired... plz help!
tnx and greetz!
just had the same problem on my trinity. rom upgrade wouldnt go further than 1%, giving me an error 270 on the flashtool on windows after this one percent.
try: splxploit (use forums search).
go into boot loader (camera + power on), close wescomm (or something like that) and rapimgr on windows via taskmanager and start unbrick.bat. after that flash "Hard-SPL". and after that use the rom you like ...
worked for me. good luck.
what u described, i tryed several times. it never works, in 25 tryis the xploit worked 2 times. after that the hard spl goes to 2 or 7 % and then the same... but now i've tryed what u said, with deactivate this 2 ****ing tasks ^^ and look there, it worked! tnx very much! before, i loaded every file from this ftp server wich might help, but there were only 2 tasks... thanks again and have an nice evening! greetz
hehe, glad to hear ...
btw. the problem occurred to me too, when flashing form an english version to a german one. at first it flashed to 20% or so and then disconnected - dropping the phone back to the colored bootloaderscreen. the flashing tool wanted me to follow some steps, which i did, and tried to flash the phone again. and there this 1% disconnect started to happen each time i wanted to flash - independent of the rom i used. after following the steps mentioned above the whole process worked fine again.
Error 270 mean bootloader must be updated.
Search for hard spl on wiki
bootloader? i can update nothing, block at 1% image update. I have the same Version like Blade Hunter, HSPL-1.07.0000
But now i cannot update mit Oli's Hard-SPL, same error. I make it over XP with the automatic installation of Hard-SPL.
Somebody nows an other update methode how works. At the moment i can do nothing with my mobile, like Blade Hunter.
ok, works again after flash with splxploit:

Hi guys!
I had the exact same problem Blade Hunter described (also with with Karmba's WM6)! I was able to solve the proble by killing the 2 windows tasks that control de usb/activesyn (wcescom & rapiXXX) and using the unbrick tool!
I have successfully unbricked my trinity and flashed a new rom.
Great pda, great xda-dev community!

I have the same problem with my Touch. I am trying to install the following
[WM 6.1] NEW BLUE ELVES ROM V5.0 - CE OS 5.2.2021 (BUILD 19521.1.1.0) (8MB PAGEPOOL)
When The device gets the 3% it shows the following message:
Image FIle is Corrupted. PLease check your update utility.
Anyone could please help me? My device is a HTC Touch with 128/256MB. Thanks for all!

Hi,
had the same problem and with the help of you guys I could fix it.
Just for everyone who could not fix it a short summary:
1. To be sure, do all the stuff on a Windows XP machine
2. DISABLE "Allow USB Connection" in Active Sync so you see a small red X symbol next to the Active Sync symbol
3. Start the device into Bootloader mode (Cam+Power+Reset) and connect the device to your PC and make sure USB is written on the bottom of your screen (NOT Serial!)
4. Download splxploit (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=39770&d=1180043588) and execute unlock on your PC
5. Follow the instructions
6. Download HardSPL (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=45018&d=1185364317) and follow the instructions
7. Finally (to be sure) restart into Bootloader mode and check if SPL is showing "SPL-1.30.Olipro) - if this is the case you've done it !
8. Flash your preferred ROM via miniSD or USB connection
Hopefully this should be clear to everyone
Cheers
Try using/buy better USB cable. Cable with Ferrite core is recommended. Happened to me once.
Hope thet help.
FACEOFF!
Thanks a lot ... you saved my day!
Chalid,
Hey man, Thanks for this info! I have been pulling my hair out over this phone for ages, finally the info you've given has been the breakthrough I needed! God bless!!

Accidentally restored WM6.0 files after flashing 6.1 Tilt locked up. HELP PLZ!

UPDATE...REMOVED BATTERY FOR A WHILE AND UN/RE INSTALLED ACTIVE SYNC AND DEVICE WAS RECOGNIZED AGAIN! Was then able to re-flash 6.1////hope this helps someone else.
Thanks for the help!
Ok, I have read for 2 days, trying to find a fix for this, and even posted in familiar threads with my issue for help. This is my first thread. Someone PLEASE help me!
I flashed my Tilt from HTC e-club the other day. I read to use the PIM back up...so I did. The flash was a success! Everything worked fine. I popped in SD and opened PIM but could not find backup log. I still had everything backed on Sprite so I just restored with it. BIG BIG BIG mistake! It showed all the files reloading and then did its auto reset. Once phone reset I got that irritating Att screen then the shrilling 3G screen...THEN IT GOES BLACK! If its not black its filled with black and white bars going down the screen b-w-b-w-b-w-b-w-b-w. Active-sync no longer recognizes my device, I cant get it to hard reset with soft keys and stylus. I dont have any info I cant live without on the phone. I have saved all of my data, cabs, pics, etc. on my SD.
I tried the black screen fix...no good, I tried to re flash from bootloader/multi color screen, I plug in USB and my PC dings like I have connected but nothing. Device goes from serial to USB in multi color screen but PC sees nothing. Hopefully someone has an idea that doesnt require another device purchase.
Thanks help would be greatly appreciated.
I didn flash hardSPL can I still flash original 6.0 from SD?
Did you by chance try a HARD reset ? ( BOTH SOFTKEYS and the soft reset on the bottom )

ALSO,
Have you changed your SPL?
If so, copy the nbh to the root of your SD card and rename it to KAISIMG.nbh ( Case Sensitive just as I have it here )
After doing this go into bootloader screen ( camera button and soft reset ) and it can reinstall a rom from SD
One more thing,
Im not sure if sprite gives you the ability, but go into its settings and make sure to NOT copy the crucial windows registry entries as this WILL mess up your operating system if you changed from 5.0 to 6.0 or 6.1
A Hard Reset and then re-restore from Sprite, but do NOT restore any Windows OS Files / Registry settings, etc.
Thanks

Yes I did the hard reset correctly. It just continues to soft boot.
I believe what you said above is what happened.
When I backed up w/ sprite it copied original OS files from 6.0 on top of new 6.1.
I have not changed SPL unless it was done through the steps on the HTC site as I was loading 6.1. I don't think it does, but I may b wrong.
Can I still flash from SD?
this happened to me. Just reset your device while holding the camera button. you should see a tri colored screen. run the offical 6.1 update. ignore the instructions just run it and tell it to install.
PC/Active-sync doent see my device

Could your phone still sync?

I'm a retard and think I have a brick now, please help

So I've flashed plenty a rom in my day, but for some reason this time I forgot to flash back to an official rom. I was running SNN Diamond, and was flashing to CR86 Touch HD .5 and forgot to flash the T-mobile ROM first and now all it does is boot the first flash screen and everything is the same except the OS version is different. I tried hard reset, but nothing works. Please tell me someone can fix this.
So...
Flash original.... if not...
Try Drugstore solution DIY thread i havent the link but is something like stuck on splash screen search a little...
Not Downgrade dont cause this ISSUE...
So here the deal now. For the last few hours its been trying to boot to the new OS and failed so it reboots and tries again. At a few points I have been able to get to align my screen but then it reboots again. Eventually I was able to establish an activesync at one point and took my chance and tried to flash the T-mobile ROM. It was at about 20% when it entered the 3 colored screen and was disconnected from my computer. After a few failed recovery attempts by the T-moblie ROM (the wizard would keep restarting every few seconds) the update utility gave up on me and in other words said go find a service provider. It stays at the 3 colored screen fine, I go to update, gets to about 1% and starts spazzing out again by constantly restarting.
tl;dr: stuck at 3 colored screen, keeps restarting itself after trying to flash T-moble.
Its due to weak battery, perhaps its not having enough juice to complete the flash.Get the battery fully charged or may be the battery has seen its days, get a new one.
I just tried the Cingular ROM (since it its the Cingular 8125) and I got up to 85% then the progress bar went red and hung up then gave up. The error I keep getting is 302 and how can I charge my battery in bootloader? I tried using Wizard Love and got this:

Here's what I'd try,
First remove the battery out of the wizard, next put it in. Without turning the wizard on, plug it into your wall charger and wait to see if the light on the phone turns orange. If it does then let it charge till the light turns green and try flashing a stock rom again.
If that doesn't work, you may have to get a new battery and one of those cradles that lets you charge an extra battery without it being in the phone.

Unfortunately I tried that, the problem is when I plug in my charger it automatically boots up to the bootloader, if I try to turn it off, its stays off for half a second, led turns orange for another half a second and bam, its back to bootloader.
I think i had the same probleme where my device just keep on reboting on the splash screen. I was able o load new rom but just the os version change. My problem was due to an eprom format error. You can see it during a hard reset. There is a fix for it, if your got the format error during a hard reset (To perform a Hard Reset a)Press and hold the Comm Manager button and Voice Command button on the device b)Keep the two above mentioned buttons pressed, and at the same time, use the stylus to lightly press and hold the Reset button. The phone will restart and ask for confirmation, click 'yes',it'll boot up into windows.), use it.

So I just tried drugstore's DIY and when it rebooted after the whole deal it just went back to bootloader what now guys? I can flash an official ROM up to 85% (both T-Mobile or Cingular) and it always gets stuck at 85% (turns red) and then goes back to rebooting itself again.
HELP!

Same issue happens. My wizard calls it quits (around 46%) and reboots. Battery is full every time I try a flash.
Are you sure that you are CID and SIM unlocked?
You can use Wizard Service tool to check.
Highly recomend this tool.
Once you see your information, post it here so that we can help you further.
It should also tell you if you have a G3 or G4 so that someone who is more experienced with G4 (If that is what you have) can help you.
WST doesn't detect my device Wouldn't my CID be unlocked from upgrading it to WM6 in the first place? I know my SIM is unlocked cause I was using t-mobile with a cingular device when it was working. Also its a G3 device.

If you'd flashed to newer roms previously then that SHOULD mean your phone is CID unlocked. Have you attempted the button rom flash yet? It's small and fast, May work for you.

Touch pro2 stuck at tricolor bootloader screen

OK i tried getting help at the hardspl thread but just getting a generic answer.
I was wondering if there is anyone who can point me in the right direction or hold my hand so to say with step by step instruction on possibly fixing the problem i currently have.
here is what i had performed to get to where i am at right now.
I had my phone hardspl. been flashing different roms then stayed with one. then today my phone wasnt able to activesync and the usb wasnt being recognized so i wasnt able to activesync, or use phone as a disk drive or internet sharing but the phone would still charge through usb. i called tmobile they are sending me a phone ill get it in about a week in the meantime i need to make this one back to stock.
So i downloaded and flashed the tmobile stock rom which i found here....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550975 after that was installed.
I then downloaded the tmobile splash screen which was provided in a link found here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4592520&postcount=163
i then downgraded the radio.
after doing all that all what was left was to change the hardspl to relock to spl. well being that my usbport was not being detected by computer to use activesync being that your phone needs to be synced in order to use the rhodiumsplrelocker.exe program. so i ran the program and when the files showed up from the program i took the RUU_signed.nbh file and moved it into another folder and renamed it to rhodimg.nbh and placed on my memory card thinking this would relock the phone using the sd card loader method..
I ran it and then the phone frooze. it rebooted and when it did this is what shows up
When i try to put the stock rom image file back on my memory card as i was told to do... after the first screen with the tricolor it then goes into a second screen with the words loading and thats it...i let it run like this for 20minutes and there was no change. heres what that screen looks like
is there anyone who may help me i would appreciate it greatly. ill be willing to make a donation to you for a solution that really works.
Connect to your device via MTTY (delete the NBH on your SD for good measure), and in the MTTY terminal, simply type this command:
Code:
[FONT=Courier New][B]set 16 0[/B][/FONT]
After that, it should boot back to Windows Mobile just fine. Good luck

can you send me the mtty program or send me a link or direct me to where i can get this mtty program much appreciated
edit: i tried mtty program and its not working. the program needs to access the usb port on phone. the first problem i was having was that the computer was no longer to read the usb port on phone due to a problem with the usb hardware. so any fix that may require a usb to computer connection may not work...if theres a way to put a file on the memory card that would work to fix or to have it boot to windows without going into the loader all the time that would help.
I just looked at the pictures in the first post, and that SPL is the shipping SPL, and not HardSPL. Therefore, it doesn't matter if the phone boots or not, since you've made everything stock, and they have nothing on you. You can just say that your phone started doing this and you don't know why, and if you play dumb, they'll have no reason to suspect otherwise.
you need to find a computer with a working usb port. Mtty is your best way out of this. It's a pretty simple problem that you have actually. mtty can be quirky so don't give up!

I have the same problem and the issue isn't our computer is the actual MINI USB port on the phone that no longer works
Um, i hate to tell you, but that same thing happened to me. I got it all back to stock, called HTC , sent it in for repair, they kept it for 45 freeking days. I just got it back. Cost $20.
Good luck. I tried everything before sending it in. Nothing worked.
Im just wondering if sending it to T-mobile that way would cause a charge to me
usb not working
ok this is for everyone who has tried to help and i really do appreciate it. but one thing people seem to keep forgetting about is you have to remember the USB PORT on the phone has MALFUNCTIONED meaning it doesnt work anymore. So for those of you who have come up with try using MTTY program...well the thing is you need to have a working USB in order for that to even work. so as i have mentioned before is there any program out there that would help by trying some rebooting program you can install on the memory card or what would really help is if the people who made the hardspl and the splrelocker would make a splrelocker program that can all be run off of the memory card with no need for the USB port because if and when that usb port is no longer working and you need to return for warranty reasons then it would be a great help being you can still relock the spl even with a non working usb port.
ok, so everybody started out not being able to activesync due to a malfunctioning mini-USB port.
If this was the case, how was anyone able to downgrade the spl in preparation for a return.... which normally requires a working MiniUSB connection?
Are you absolutely sure this isn't the (more common) PnP-doesn't-recognize-the-port issue?

when i first received the phone ... yes the usb port was functioning well and i was able to hardspl my phone... and everytime i would flash a rom i would put the rhodimg.nbh file on the root of my memory card and do the hold volume button down and hit the reset button allowing me to boot to the tricolor screen without the need for activesync or usb to flash a rom. during the use and life of my phone the usb port malfunctioned maybe from wear and tear who knows...so even with the usb dying im still able to flash roms to my phone through the memory card which i could use a memory card reader to put the rhodimg.nbh file onto and then put memory card into phone and reboot the phone while holding down the voldown button still letting me access the bootloader screen without the need for usb. so my thing is if a problem develops during this process how do you fix it when the usb no longer works.
So your SPL isn't downgraded then? That would make sense given the problem you cite. I'm hoping you say that it is because that means there's still hope b/c I don't know of a way to do the downgrade from SD. The only way you can communicate with the BL is through the USB port afaik.

Correct me if im wrong, the screen where he is stuck (See screenshot post #1), looks like original SPL? If so, how can T-Mobile even notice it has been reflashed? What im trying to say is, if he just play dumb, he should get warrantee just fine, since it looks all original to me.
good point... looks like yours is one option. Still perplexing how the downgrade could have occurred with a bad miniUSB port... There are some real quirks getting mtty to connect. Some of them had to do with getting USB active on the BL screen... I haven't used the utility since I had my TyTN in the days before soft/hardSPL however.
not sure where you ended up with this, but I ran across the following thread and thought about your problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540290
It shows the many things that are needed for successful USB tri-color connect with mtty.

wow that was a big photo...
ok, well, do you have a GSM tp2? or a CDMA/GSM one? because it says RHOD500 modelid on the screen but I'm not convinced that you actually have a CDMA worldphone...
if you are not sure, then tell me what carrier the device is from, that'll give me a hint if it's GSM or CDMA/GSM.

[Q] Stuck in cyclic restart after Radio ROM upgrade!?!

Hi, i am from Turkey,
I have a Touch Diamond (Diam100) bought from Norway. I just loaded a new radio ROM onto my phone (I am security unlocked and sim unlocked and hard SPL'd, thanks to Olinex!) and everything looked to work fine, the status bar got to 100% and the phone rebooted as usual after a new ROM load
However - it is completely stuck in a cyclic reboot. I get the HTC startup screen and then it just reboots again and again. I tried a hard reset and got the confirmation message that it was restored OK, press volume up to boot. However it does the same reboot again and again
I tried some thing like that:
*Try to install "RUU_Diamond_HTC_NOR_1.93.409.1_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.29.25.12_1.00.25.05_Ship" stock rom, but it freezes at %13
*Try to install stock radio rom "Diamond_Radio_1.00.25.05" bu it freezes at %95!
*Try to install stock spl, everything looked to work fine, the status bar got to 100% and the phone rebooted as usual after a new ROM load but the problem seems again!
i can install cooked roms, but after restart this problem happens again and again!
Can you help me please? I love my phone very much.. (
(sorry for my poor english)
Hi, try MTTY your phone. log in to use search in these fora and find "The definitive MTTY thread". It's a bit of...homework to do but will get you out of this.Your issue is caused by certain undeleted items which remain after a rom flash as far as i've learned.I hadn't have to do it until after several ROM flashes but guess sooner or later everybody faces it.Well it's time you did it too...
Cheers

hi, i tried it step by step. but nothing happens
Hi,
Dude, that's frustrating, however as i understand it's a stock SPL you've presently got on your phone, right? I don't know which SPL version you've had before but just in case, try to update to HSPL version 1,93. Then try flashing a ROM you like.If problems persist MTTY your phone again after having upgraded HSPL.
And a word of advice based on own experience: Not all radios are compatible with all ROMs and vice versa...
Hope you're soon going to get this right,
Regards from Greece

before you upgrade the radio, whether it has been unlock device with the XDA Unlock Application ..? try to hard reset your device after that make sure the device go to the boot loader (3 colors screen) and reflash with the official ROM!! then unlock the device and immediately you can do to upgrade the radio (at the time of upgrading the radio make sure the SIM card removed)

hi, i can not change the hspl, i tried again and again, but nothing changed.
(hspl olinex 1.93 signed and unsigned versions)
i tried to change the hspl to stock spl, installation was going and everything was ok (%100 inst.) but after restart, spl 1.40 olinex in bootloader mode again!
i don't know how can i change this 1.40 spl. i think the main problem is spl and radio rom.
