somebody give coreplayer a whirl...
and tcpmp...
tcpmp has worked in the last couple ROMs. I've been using 0.81.
How's the performance? Is the processor fast?

nice and speedy. I never found the original TyTN a slouch, but now that there's a lot of memory available I can run several apps in parallel (even while playing long audio files).
i have installed coreplayer and tcpmp player on my kaiser. both are excellent on performance. the only thing is that the tcpmp player used to be able to play all the WMV files in my wm5 o2 flame but now on the wm6 kaiser, it wont show the wmv files at all in my video folder.
anyone knows why? is it my setting problem?
thanks, eric

This is an issue with the wmv files that they included on wm6. There is a posting somewhere on the codecodec forums linking to a posting here which has a zip file with the dll's you need. Just unzip them into the codecodec dir.

And I quote.
"Finally, in order to test the horsepower of the TyTN II I installed The Core Pocket Media Player and watched a few sample videos. What amazed me here is that I was able to put a video clip on the internal storage memory of the device that was NOT optimised for pocket PC and despite the DivX video being 640 x 320 it played back without so much of a stutter! This is something that I’ve never been able to do on any other device."

thanks so much i found it and fixed it.
How did you fix it?
i downloaded the 2 wmvencoder.dll files and dragged them into the windows dir, then installed .81 rc1. wmv can be decoded now but the performance is not good. i m still trying to find out why. but now at least it can play wmv files.
Does anyone know the settings for TCPMP and the Kaiser so that it plays video correct when slide is open and flipped up?
At the moment it plays ok in portrait (tap the screen and it goes landscape full screen) but when I actually open and tilt I cant get it to rotate and play full screen. it stays in portrait???
any ideas?

I experience exactly the same thing. I can play wmv files, but the performance is poor.
Did you by any chance find a solution?
PS! The poor performance is experienced in both TCPMP and Coreplayer.
Check this thread out...

Per the above post.
"... I'm using TCPMP and I've found that the following steps help relieve some of the problems.
1. Options/Video:
Change from DirectDraw to Raw FrameBuffer
Uncheck "Dither" (whatever that is)
2. Options/Video/Pixel Aspect Ratio: set to Auto
3. Options/Settings/Advanced
Check "Slow Video Memory"
4. Options/Settings/Buffering
Change "Preload at Underrun" to 85%
Note: I'm using PocketDIVxEncoder to convert everything to AVI files with the right audio/video size and format and I've tweaked the rom quite a bit. The most important setting change I've found to improve response of programs/video came from the vx6700 forums:
H_KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/GDI/GLYPHCACHE/limit
change setting to either 32758 or 65536
I've tried both, and I'm using 32758 because it's a smaller memory footprint, but 65536 appears slightly faster.
"
Has not helped much. I am trying to play an H264 file encoded at 640x480, 23.976 frame rate. palying back via the FFmpeg AVC format. Audio sounds fine, but I am getting less than 1 frame per second of video. Is it the H.264 codec? I know it is close to the mp4 format, but one of the posters in the referenced thread said these settings helped (for .mp4), where for me it they do not.

I replaced my qtek2020 (400mhz) with the tytn2. With my qtek i was able to play almost anything (divx with high bitrate, vcd files, streaming 800kbps video over activesync) . The tytn2 seems to be to weak to play these files.
www.streamingpda.nl --> humortv (800kbps) stutters.
Divx --> without reencoding stutters.
Does anybody know a solution, please help, its the only thing i am dissapointed in with my new baby.
thx
anybody?
Ok, maybe no one has a solution but can somebody confirm that he has the same problem?

Perhaps you could tell us what you are attempting to play these with.

I went to the site you reproted and saw the same problem. The video seems to play ok for about 20 seconds and then goes in to a jerky frame mode. The sound is still clear though.
Oddly, I went to the windows media site from the windows media player that this site seems to demand and watched some clips there that played flawlessly.
Might it have to do with the way your site is encoding their stuff?
I am a noob but the windows media player offers almost no options to fiddle with to try to make things better. How to force the video to play with TCPMP?
I tried windows media player (not a lot of options indeed) , tcpmp (the latest version) and Makayama liveTv. They all sem to have the same problem. It is ok if the bitrate is below 500 kbps. I am giong to try that windows media site.
I'm having the same problem. As the video plays it will skip parts of it. but as you say the sound is fine.
have you tried setting your video driver to GDI? i would think that would solve the problem
How do you do that?

In TCMP: Options>Video>GDI
Oh Ok, I tought you know how to hack the WMP.
I use CorePlayer (and TCPMP) and I use RawBuffer ... Works fine (faster than WMP).

GDI or Rawbuffer?
what does GDI do?
so we have to use tcmp? wmp is useless if we want some kind of quality or flow? What the hell were you thinking HTC? give us some new drivers that works with wmp! allways a guinea-pig.
Posted this in another thread, but it applies here as well.
I'm using the Core Player and I tried "GDI" vs "Raw Frame Buffer" and the benchmark tells me;
GDI=Ave Speed of 135%
RawFrameBuffer=Ave Speed of 168%
Guess I'll stick with Raw, it plays my Divx vids perfectly, but I encode mine at 320x240 just for small gear like this and iPods. They look very sharp and clear at these modest rates.
I also tried RawFrameBuffer with the Keyboard Open=163%
So is my TyTN 2 worthless for playing back h.264 videos ?
I'm trying to playback the DL.TV podcasts in native ipod video encoded .mp4
It is already formatted 320x240 at under 400 kb/s w/AAc audio...
The sound plays fine, but the video stutters along.
Benchmarking only comes up eith 58%
Do I need to fix the settings ?

I am using TCPMP 0.72
I have tried both GDI and Raw Buffer with no noticeable difference in quality.
Both stutter along on that video.
Is there a web pae or post with the correct option setting for all of these other sub menus ?
Thanks again,

I did some thing like that with my v2.5 and the video did not play as well, also had the same error with window media.
But then I fixed it with v2.7.
nope, didnt do that
Ive noticed the same problem.
i didn't delete any codec whatsoever. There is no way this is fixable?
BTW, when i had 2.3 BETA, it worked fine.

I meant itje may have deleted the codec. If it's a problem across multiple users of that ROM, post it in that ROM's thread to see what can be done. Besides, I'm half asleep so I'm not even sure if I'm using complete sentences.
I'm using İtje's Rom 4,4 I can't play video files with media player and Tcmp
I just installed CorePlayer and when I play video (WMV) It's extremely choppy. I also tried it on WMP and its also very choppy. Any suggestions on how to remedy this? TIA
check your specs on the video, codec, bitrate, etc
Check out Coreplayer, it really improved the view and choppiness on my movies.

LOL, he already said he tried coreplayer
set the video settings to raw frame buffer and see if it helps
Call HTC and ask them to send you the video drivers for your phone.
Are there any specific or recommended settings for converting to AVI of WMV? Divx or Xvid? What setting for those of you that have gotten video to play what settings do you use? I'm using TMPGEnc to process the video.
The phone is not even 3 months old. Doesn't it come with the latest HTC drivers? Can I download them?

The "drivers" is a joke. They Kaiser is missing the Hardware Graphics acceleration drivers. Check out http://htcclassaction.org.

My problem is that video playback seems random.
I've converted some video clips I've downloaded from the internet, using PocketDivXEncoder, and am using CorePlayer for playback.
The first time I view, the quality is great - but subsequently they are choppy to the point where they are unwatchable.
I can't understand why this should happen.
I've played around with a few things - I thought I'd got it sussed when I moved the clips to the DCIM folder, but again it only worked the first time.
Weird...
As a side issue, for future reference, what are the recommended settings for quality/size/bitrate etc. when trying to load video onto my TyTN II?

It seems to me that you have some program running that sometimes uses a lot of CPU resources and prevents the video player from using them.
As for encoding, I'm usually using ~350kbps divx video/128kbps mp3 audio in 320x240 frame size.
I thought that...
Closed all apps, even did a soft reset...
(Thanks for the numbers by the way)
Hi there. I installed the TF3D as a panel which has fixed the crashing problem. Also installed some HD Touch addons like volume bar, keyboard. Everything works fine until i created a video using the X1 camera. Tried to play it back and windows media player says it cannot play the file, and that it maybe currupted. The preinstalled videos like the 007 trailor (mines a UK voda X1) doesn't work also.
Resetted everything, the videos started to work again. Installed TF3D and other addons, and again videos don't work. Anyone else have this problem? Avi files work fine, just 3gp and mp4 ones don't? Incidentally, my omnia had the same problem when i installed TF2D manilla. Any help grately appreciated.

Gonna try the patch zenkinz thanks for the reply will let you know how It works out.
Did try it and it does not work for me.
I did some extensive searching on the forum but the only thing that seems to be the solution is a hard reset.
"you need to have clean X1i w/o previous installation of Youtube to work."
I'm guessing this also goes for "repairing" the MP4/3G Playback?
Can't play 3gp and MP4 videos anymore using Windows Media on my Xperia WM6. It had been working fine for months but yesterday it just stopped playing these files. WMV works fine and so does the 3gp and MP4 videos if played on any other player. There must be a solution other than a hard reset!!! Is there a way to reinstall Windows media or perhaps someone can send me the exe and any other files that make windows media work on WM6.
Thanks
It seems like a ROM issue to me, but pasha's situation seems to beg to differ. Any programs you install recently?

No... none ... although i do test a lot of different applications and games. But i don't recall installing anything in particular during the time this problem appeared. I did change the image files in the Sony Ericsson Xperia panel but i dont think it should effect WMP. Interestingly i noticed that i am able to play MP4 and 3gp files using WMP if they are in the WMP videos library list. However can't play them if i select them directly from any file explorer.
