Hi,
I just installed MS Voice Command and ever since, if I go Start then Settings my Diamond crashes (screen freezes, buttons don't respond etc).
Apart from a Hard Reset, is there anything I can do to fix it? I was thinking if I could uninstall MS Voice Command ... but the uninstall method is via Start -> Settings ...
I tried renaming the MS Voice Command directory so that its files are inaccessible but that made no difference.
Any ideas?
Mike
Never mind, fixed. I tried to re-install MS Voice Command and it removed the first installation ... and device is now working okay, phew!
Another possible solution may have been using SKTools to uninstall it.

I'm using Voice Command 1.6 and it says it quit due to low memory. It didn't used to do it but now it does it all the time. How much memory does it need? Is it because I have too many songs?
Voice Command 1.6 "DON"T WORK"
I purchased Voice Command 1.6 and installed it in my AT&T 8925 "Tilt" (HTC Kaiser). I get pop-up message "Voice Command is quitting because of low memory, please close running program" There are no other programs running. I'm confuded. The microphone icon doesn't appear on my Today screen. There is a lot of posting of users are having the same problem. I heard MS is aware of the problem and is keeping very quite about it. They don't want to recall all the Voice Command 1.6 for replacement. I used SKtools to increase RAM; same problem. I check start-up; 1. btdwake 2. poutlook 3. sddaemom 4. voice command. There are only 4 files. I am returning the software back to MS for a refund. We shouldn't have to accept this.
Do anyone out there have a solution? Geeks?
Thanks,
Steve
Whilhelm & Steveng2000:
I was able to clear up the problem utilizing SkTools:
Menu > View
place checkmark on: Maintenance, then scroll down & select Processes
Menu > Action > Attempt to free up RAM space
After I running the above, sufficient RAM space is now available to run MS Voice Command 1.6 on my Tilt.
That said, though I may on rare occasion get the 'low memory" pop-up display, if I merely press the PTT button again, MS Voice Command launches fines with mic icon appearing. btw: I have my Microphone AGC set to: Enabled
Wilhelm, not sure, but I doubt the number of songs you've got stored in your phone or storage card would have any effect on memory usage unless you're actually running your media player & other apps concurrently while operating MS Voice Command.
Steveng2000: I've got the same exact four files (plus a few more in addition) as you in the Startup folder, but not experiencing your problem.
This said, perhaps someone else here might have other suggestions for Steveng2000 & Wilhelm to try in fixing the problem on their Tilt.

Where is MSVC installed? It should definitely be stored on the device, not the card.
I haven't had any troubles with MSVC on my Tilt, other than still having to install ZaJules BT Command fix, enable it, reset, disable it, reset, pair headset. After that - bingo!
First of all, I am very very satisfied witj my TyTN II.
Video playback WAS an issue for me (as a AV professional), but I am absolutely satisfied after installing CorePlayer and looking forward to the upgrade to version 1.2 of that program.
Other programs were less to my liking and after evaluation I decided to uninstall them using the uninstall utility of MS Active Sync.
But some of these programs simply refuse to uninstall. So I still have a shortcut to the Feedreader program News Gato in my programs map and I cannot get rid of it.
Even more annoying is the Spite Backup program that came with the TyTN II on CD, which I uninstalled, but still givbes me a warning at startup that the file Sprite.exe cannot be found.
DO ANY OF YOU HAVE A CLUE HOW I SHOULD CLEAN UP?
Thanks!
I know what you mean about annoying programmes which won't disapear when they are uninstalled.
One of them for me is a windows live messenger version which I installed. I couldn't get rid of it by softresetting so I had to do the hard reset.
Moreover, PointUI is anothe programme that when uninstalled, still remains on my programme list. Because of this, I had to also hard reset my device.
The hard reset function is the only solution I know that will rid me of troublesome remnants of programmes...
Try SKtools its a good program and has a few features that clean up your registry and it also has an uninstaller better then the one provided by windows. Don't know if it'll work, but worth a shot.
I had the same problem with Sprite - at their web site I found the following fix, which worked for me:
To uninstall everything from your device and PC please follow these steps;
To remove from your device;
1. Use File Explorer to delete the entire folder on your device;
"\Program Files\Sprite Software" if Sprite Backup was installed on device
or
"\Storage Card\Program Files\Sprite Software" if installed on storage card
2. Use a registry editor (e.g. www.phm.lu) for Windows Mobile device to delete the following key in the registry on your device;
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Sprite Software\Sprite Backup]
3. Please also delete the following link file if it exists:
- My Device\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Sprite Backup(.lnk)
To uninstall from your PC;
Steps for manually removing ALL Sprite Software entries from your PC. Please follow these steps carefully to manually remove all Sprite Backup software;
1. Click Start> Run on your PC and type "Regedit" in the bar
2. Delete the following keys;
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\AppMgr\Apps\Sprite Software Sprite Backup]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sprite Software\Sprite Backup]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{D8FD4D0D-E171-4FFC-91CE-BA38EEAC5E06}]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sprite Software\Sprite Backup]
3. Close the Registry Editor
4. Use Windows Explorer to delete these folders;
C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{D8FD4D0D-E171-4FFC-91CE-BA38EEAC5E06}
C:\Program Files\Sprite Software\Sprite Backup
C:\Program Files\Sprite Software\Sprite Explorer
This will uninstall everything related to Sprite Backup.

I tried that same application ths morning and 2 hours later I was uninstalling it. It looked cool, but my internet was painfully slow, and the gestures were all backwards. To get the menu to slide left, you had to slide your finger right on the screen. The hardware keys didn't work, and then when the application locked up on me that was it. The only way out I found was to hit the end key repeatedly until it finally exited. Then the uninstall instructions didn't work. I think that could be a fine program once it is refined, but right now it was a pain.

I know what you mean about the gestures being in reverse. This took a while to get used to.
By the way, I had the previous blue version installed on my Kaiser, not the latest black version. I suppose I could give it anothe go, but I can't be bothered to do another hard reset if I don't like the programme and want it fully removed
But yes, I do agree that it would be a good programme once all the little technicalities are fixed. I still do like the normal windows 6 UI, after installing Dutty's CAB which makes the start menu bigger

Dutty's enlarged start menu is fantastic. I can navigate the start menu w/o my stylus. One of the best, easiest, and most useful mods out there!

I tried SK Tools...and it did the job!
Thanks for the tip
Hi, has anyone managed to install this, and get it to work? It doesn't install properly on my Diamond and I can only see settings for it, nothing under programmes.
I get an error along the lines of "programme not installed correctly" or something like that ... can't stand Voice Commander pre-installed.
Thanks, M.
same happend to me, but just ignore the mesage. it is installed anyway. afaik the icon for voice command always was under settings it never had one in programs.
i just installed it and it works fine, allthough it seems that the recognition is not as good as it was on my tytn. will see if it improves over time...
cheers

Interesting. I set the button to be key 1 (same as where voice commander normally resides) and yet when I press it I just get a single tone beep response, not the normal multi-tone initiating voice command one.
Haven't tried it with my bluetooth headset yet as the charge has run out on it!
Also, has anyone figured out how to remove the installed Voice Commander?
Thanks, M.
works for me!
vc1.6 i installed it 5 times and did not work after i assigned my only f))king button it just one beep not like used to 3 beeps so i create a icon in programs dir and then link button to that it works perfect. perfect recognition if anything better and faster than any of my previos pda's
MS VC 1.7 freezes Daimond to hard reset
I Posted in another thread, but it should indeed belong here :
Hope to see a working solution for MSVC soon , an official fix from MS would even do fine.

I flashed to Eslite 1.0, so i might give it another try now
I have MSVC 1.6 OK on my Diamond. It is true, that the installation tells me error when I install, but now it is OK. You can configure MSVC in Settings/Voice Command. Then:
1) you have to create link to voicecmd.exe (for example voicebtn.lnk), copy this link into \windows\star menu\programs
2) in settings/button assignment, you have to reassign long press of phone button to this new link voicebtn.lnk and now is MSVC functional

i even did not get so far.
I tried to install 1.6 build 17913 on TLR Rom, though it gave this "unrecoverable error" again.
Rebooting resulted in a brick when tapping "settings" which forced a hard reset again damned
Will stick a while to Cyberon Voice command, though I liked MSVC better.
I have used MSVC_US_PPC 1.6.19209.bengalih.cab from pda4x.
No problem after setting Button1 to MSVC.
@ vphk
How did you make that link? Sorry neub

How to open websites in opera using voice command
I'm running a german version of MSVC v1.60.46220 and it's running very smooth. I read the tutorials and configured it to meet my needs. Now I want to open websites with opera using a simple command like "Start xda-developers". To do this I created a link (.url) in a subfolder of programs. This works with Pocket IE. To open the site in opera I changed the file association for the extension .url to \windows\OperaL.exe "%1%. Now opera starts but the home screen appears instead of the site that is linked. help appreciated
I cant get the talking ringtone to work on my diamond.
I adjusted the settings so it should work without an headset.
Do you have to adjust the ringtone somewhere?

to create the link mentionned by rxdoctor in post #4 :
1 - from your PC, go to \program files\voice comand on your pda (via Active Sync connection), create a shortcut here (like you would do for a file on your PC)
2- move this shortcut to \Windows\start menu\Programs on the pda
Then the name of this shortcut appears in the drop down list of programs you can assign to the button.
Now I have MS voice command working fine
How would I go through with accessing to remove MS Voice Command from the kaiser without opening the main settings window. I installed a few applications (i.e., TouchFlo 2, Youtube, HTC Audio Manager, PTTfix and MS Voice Command 1.6) on my friends Kaiser running WM6.1. All of these programs work fine on mine (WM 6.0), but now on his the phone reboots everytime you click on settings int he start menu. The only thing I can guess thats causing it is MS Voice Command since it creates an Icon in the Settings window.
I need to either A) find a way to manually remove the icon maybe...if that could work, or B) manually find a way to uninstall voice command.
I am hoping I can fix it without him having to do a hard reset on the phone losing all his stuff.
Thanks.

You can uninstall software with SKTools. Download a trial version from Handango and try it. If you like it, buy it! My guess is you will probably have to do a hard reset anyway to clean up that mess.
Ill do that. I'll use SKtools on his phone to remove MS Voice Command next week.
Has anyone else had this problem? It would be great for him to have Voice Command. He's been drooling over the feature on mine so long. Now that he finally has a kaiser, he can't use it because it doesn't want to work on his. No fun.
Another easy way would be to use Activesync Add/Remove Programs feature on a connected computer
I don't think he has access to a computer but I will keep that one in mind. We hadn't even had a chance to use the sktools option yet since he got sick so I haven't seen him around in a bit.
I really wish the program would have worked :/ I might try reinstalling it again ontop of itself....could do the trick. Maybe the program corrupted itself the first time some how.
version
this happend to me before, it was the version msvc i was had installed i dont remember which version though.

This is, this is 1.6 and there is nothing newer
You could also simply create a shortcut/link that goes directly to the Add/Remove Programs settings screen.
Try putting this code in a .lnk file:
Code:
Settings>System>Remove Programs = 21#ctlpnl cplmain.cp,10
It will allow you to bypass the main Settings screen that crashes.
Hi,
I have a TD2 and i have just installed Voice Command (XDA MSVC_US_PPC 1.6.19209).
After Installation it works partially.
I would like to solve the following problems:
1. The program does not appear in Start Menu or Programs menu.
2. If i go to Settings/Other/Voice Command, there is no option available to assign one of the buttons on cellphone to activate Voice Command. Is this possible?
If i go to File Explorer and find the folder that holds the Voice Command program, click on the file, then the program is activated and works just fine.
But i would like to start it using a button on my TD2 and not on the bluetooth headset
Here's what you need;
Create shortcuts to Feature Settings and Applications manually
[APP+DRV] [Keys remapper] Topaz Keyboard Controller GSM v1.4
Have fun,
