Feedback: 92.9 % Positive.....
looks like its a pre-release version which is also called BETA!! thats why he didnt have a box to go with the phone.
So noone has gotten this to work? I flashed my European Diamond to quadband, but I can't get more than Edge data connection..

Very interesting. Just for a goof I asked him what rom version he's running. Anyone want to bet that he won't answer? He says it's a DIAM160, which i guess is an o2 model.
EDIT: He was reading the model number off of the battery itself, not the device model number.
He says his rom version is : 1.37.415.1.WWE

It could theoretically mean (i'm doubting this myself) that there is a way to unlock the 3g 850 band somehow. Now, he could have somehow gotten his hands on one of the telstra diam110 handsets, or he does have some kind of beta handset that does have different hardware.

Dunno. On my Danish (factory stock) rom, with radio 1.00.25.05 from here. In settings/phone/band I get not 4, but 6 options:
UMTS(900+2100)+GSM(900+1800)
UMTS(850+1900)+GSM(850+1900)
UMT(800+2100)
UMTS(850+2100)+GSM(900+1800)
UMTS(850)+GSM(900+1800)
UMTS(1700)
That would be bands 850, 900, 1800, 1900 for GSM
and 850, 900, 1900, 2100, 1700 for UMTS
Can't test it (yet)
Anyone, for donating a ticket DK-USA
EDIT: My ROM is -HTC Touch Diamond-QMR-RUU_Diamond_HTC_Danish_1.93.403.2_radio_Signed_Diamond_52.29.25.12_1.00.25.05_Ship downloaded from HTC site.

But all of that is just on the software, it is not hardware.
I wonder if the hardware is already there, and it would only be up to a software to make the US 3G bands work.
Yeah I get the same^ on mine with Norwegian ROM and .05 radio.
BTW, after I hang up a call, the 3G sign tends to appear (replacing the E) for a few seconds, so faking those pictures in that auction wouldnt be tough.

But for the 3G symbol to appear, you need the hardware that can receive the band of the 3G signal, in the US case, it's 850/1900mhz

So you're saying the phone does have that hw?
Folks, if you just read around the forum a little bit you will see that the Euro/Asian Diamond DOES NOT HAVE THE HARDWARE TO SUPPORT ATT 3G DATA. Only the Australian version (just released) and the US version (to be released in September) have the hardware necessary to connect to WCDMA/UMTS 850. This information is ALL over this forum.

That's the question. I do believe it to be some kind of hoax, but we've all been surprised before. I'm hoping that the winner of the phone will come forward and dump the radio off the phone so we can find out once and for all.

In his auction Q&A's he says the radio version is 1.00.25.05 which has definitely been tried here. It would have to be different hardware.
The more I read his Q&A's, the more I think he's not intentionally trying to dupe anyone... he just doesn't understand that just because the software shows all those bands in the settings, doesn't mean the phone actually supports all those bands.

Look at the pictures, how come does he have the 3G signal in it? My diamond does not show that because it does not have the hardware for that, it only shows an E.
I thought that meybe is a preproduction unit, he claims that is not, but if you dig a bit you can see that this person bought it from a different seller who claims that is a regular dia100 so I'm very confused now.
Is it possible to change the logo to 3G with some registry tweak even if the phone only onnects to Edge?

He has confirmed now that it is a DIAM100, but swears up and down that it works for 3G data. I told him that people here have been trying to get 3G data working on the DIAM100 for a couple weeks now with the exact radio that he has on his phone and it cannot be done b.c the hardware is not there. He basically told me that it has 3G for 850 and to eff off.

I see you got yourself a $200 Diamond. Very nice! Regardless of whether it works on 3G data in the US, you can't beat that price for ANY Diamond!

Correct me if I am wrong but I think my Diamond (bought from Hong Kong) support USA GSM network. Please see the attached picture, it shows UMTS8500+1900 + GSM850+1900 as an option in the phone setting manual.
I made this post because I saw many people complain that the first batch of Diamond doesn't support USA GSM bands but only the Asia and Euro one.
Can u check al lines, mines is:
UMTS(900+2100)+GSM(900+1800)
UMTS(850+1900)+GSM(850+1900)
UMTS(800+2100)
UMTS(850+2100)+GSM(900+1800)
UMTS(850)+GSM(900+1800)
UMTS(1700)
Mine is working is USA!
It may support those bands but it wont actually get you 3G access in America because the non American Diamonds are missing the 3G attenna. Its not a software problem but a hardware problem.
If you want to use 3G in America then wait till the American version of the Diamond is out.
the bands being able to be selected means that the RIL (radio interface layer) CAN support those bands, that DOES NOT MEAN that your Phone Hardware can support it.
The software interface is probably not smart enough to adjust itself to match hardware.
The HK Diamond hardware spec said it is a triband GSM phone. It does not have GSM850. I'm not sure if this is just a marketing / sales spec.
Anyone tested this in the US? Or any hardware/radio engineer on this forum to validate this spec?

Well the HK Diamond Spec is incorrect, it "could" be quoting the US specs but the US version isnt out for another month at least.

I though this would be a good place to post this question.
I have the same bands listed as post # 2. Now my phone came out of the box like it is. No radio or rom upgrades, yet. Does that mean its Quad band unlocked already from the box? Or do I still have to load the latest radio?

My radio is 1.00.25.03, so I would assume it's not quad band without putting one of the newer radios?
triband TD
when i got my TD, it was listed a triband. I could still use in the USA because
ATT uses 900 band also. However, their primary band is 850. THe reception with the 900 only band was spotty. I then flashed my ROM (see below) and a new radio.....05 and immediately got 4 bars where i got 1 or none. MUch improvement. However, you will NOT get 3G until you get a USA phone. It uses Edge now, (which for me is fast enough). ITs a hardware think not a ROM or radio upgrade thing to get 3G.
BTW this is my current ROM and i am very happy with my TD now. Best phone ive ever had.
Rom 1.93.456.2 WWE
Rom Date 7-10-08
Radio Version 1.00.25.05
Hard SPL 1.24
Protocol Version 52.29.25.12H

If the european version is missing the antenae then if he was in an area with strong enough signal wouldn't it show the 3G icon and maybe even only one bar, but that is not usable.

is it possible to purchase a Nexus 1 that will work on both tmobile and att 3g?
Also will the at&t nexus 1 work on at&t 4g network when it is released?
It can work on either carrier's EDGE network, but the 3G bands are different. So you can buy the At&t 3G one and it'll work 100% on At&t but only have EDGE on T-Mobile. Or you can buy the T-Mobile 3G version and have the opposite.
For 4G, no, the N1 will not work with At&t's 4G network. It doesn't support HSPA+. You can enable HSUPA for faster uploads, so it'll support full 3G.

I don't think that any of the Nexus One's are actually branded, (they both look the same). I have an AT&T one and it does not say AT&T on it anywhere, it just has the right frequencies for AT&T 3G.
AT&T
I read somewhere if it has PB99110 under the battery it supports AT&T 3g. On a side note I haven't seen any AT&T "4G" speed tests that makes me want to go run out and purchase a 4G device.

I bought mine without any sort of contract agreement or upgrade from either company ( non subsidized ...paid full price). I would then assume it supports either companies 3G bands, considering those factors..

Unfortunately not. There are 2 different nexus one versions out there, t-mobile and ATT 3g versions. You have to get the right one for each. Both have world 2100 though.
The ATT version stopped being sold long ago, the t-mobile only one still being sold.

I'm not sure what your suggesting because, again, I bought my phone on release day off the Google site....without having a contract to either company.
I got the phone and subscribed to T-Mobile after a few days of having it, I had no prior company before (well I had MetroPCS).
So your basically suggesting that I got completely lucky that I received a T-Mobile version? I'm not exactly sure that's the case. Unless strictly T-Mobile was the only company supporting it on release, which I don't recall to be totally honest.
yes, the t-mobile version was the only one available at launch
the at&t version did not become available until around april or may, just like how the nexus s is only now becoming available for at&t* and sprint while it has been available for t-mobile for quite some time
so you didn't just get a t-mobile version by chance but you are lucky that you weren't planning on using it on at&t because you wouldn't have been able to get 3g
*I know that at&t is not actually selling the nexus s but there is a version with at&t bands in canada

Yes, you were lucky you were on T-Mobile. Because there was only the T-Mobile version at that time.
And you seem to think that a phone working on one type of 3G and not another has something to do with signing contracts. That is not the case. The more bands a phone supports, the harder it is to get good antenna. Basically a phone has to be designed for a small subset of all possible frequencies. That's why there were two versions of the Nexus One. One for the AT&T frequencies, and one for the T-Mobile frequencies.

No, I understand the difference between frequencies and such. I wasn't saying just because there was no contract it works on both...I was just saying that because I thought (which was corrected and it was only released on T-Mobile at first) it was sold for both initially and I never selected one it must have ran both frequencies. Again, that was my incorrect assumption. I didn't realize it was initially released by T-Mobile exclusively.
So the Sprint GS4 has a removable sim like the HTC One.

Sure. With the removable sim you can pop in any international sim you want and use their cheap prepaid rates while travelling.
Another benefit may be to unlock the sim and use at&t prepaid when your sprint service sucks.
Those not in the US may not realize CDMA carriers have not had many GSM radios/sims in the past.

This is the GS4 general section correct? Until they break up the forum to carrier this is the right place as far as I know.
i already have a sprint international sim but don't use it often.. nice knowing i can pop it into the S4 and use it overseas if i have to instead of the ancient motorola v600 i have.
this is not to be confused with a sim, it is a uicc just like verizon/metropcs/uscc/cricket use

I would assume you could get a cheap disposable pre-paid in your area of travel, insert and profit? Someone correct me if I'm wrong here but that's the way I would see it.
let me reiterate, this is not a sim. it is a uicc. someone already tried to stick a gsm sim in and set to global and got an invalid sim. this does not mean it isnt a global device, just could be that it is locked permanently, locked to sprint and have to get an unlock code from sprint to unlock it, or would never work in the first place.
regardless it isnt looking great ATM, once more people have teh device and can actually mess with the hidden settings then more info can be found out. but as of now i would not buy this phone based on the premise of using it on gsm, sprint has a pretty piss poor track record with unlocking gsm stuff (ask any photon 4g/photon q owner)

It's probably SIM locked like the HTC One is. Therefore, you should be able to call Sprint and have them provide you the unlock code, which they normally will if you meet certain criteria. There are several folks on the HTC One forum who have reported they have done so succefully. All this said though, I still expect for the phone not to be able to be GSM operable with US carriers like all Sprint GSM phones have been in the past.
Also, I am pretty sure the original Photon 4G (WiMax) already came SIM unlocked out of the box.

it came unlocked but was limited, the iphone 4s had to be unlocked shortly after launch, the photon q had an embedded sim.

Pin and Puk codes have nothing to do with SIM locking though. Only the carrier and manufacturer have that.

What do you mean by "limited"? (Besides disabling inside-US usage, which has always been the case for all Sprint GSM phones; a known policy which I wouldn't expect Sprint to ever change.)

that is what i am referring to, and no i dont expect them to change either. realistically, a sprint customer doesnt need to use those carriers. but it would be nice to be able to use a photon q on tmobile without having to shred it to bits and solder in a new sim..

Even if you could shred it to bits it would do you no good because Sprint blocks reception of US GSM signals at the radio level. Personally, now that Sprint is back to using removable SIMs, I don't really have that big of an issue with what Sprint is doing with respect to blocking US GSM, as long as they enable international usage with any SIM and, if they SIM lock the device, don't give you too much of a hard time to obtain the unlock code from them so that you can use the device with other carriers if you are outside the US (rather than forcing you to pay their exorbitant international roaming rates).
It should be noted though that in the Sprint S4's case there is actually another related issue where Sprint did something really dumb and annoying which is to disable the UMTS/WCDMA 850 MHz band completely (for use both inside and outside the US) and has done so for apparently no good reason at all. That could cause major issues to folks who wish to use the device in certain places like S. America. However, this is a topic that merits its own separate thread though, which I plan on starting sometime in the next couple weeks after I get more info. on this problem.

So the Sprint GS4 has a removable sim like the HTC One.
Frequencies and Data Type LTE: Band 25 (1900MHz); CDMA 1x/EVDO Rev A, Tri-band: 800/850/1900 MHz; HSPA+/UMTS Dual-band: 1900/2100 MHz; GSM Quad-band: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

Thoughts? Hoping we may get it unlocked for domestic use as well as international.
Looks like Tmobile is out but AT&T should be ok (no LTE obviously)?

Are we 100 percent sure the UMTS/WCDMA 850 MHz band is blocked?
apologies all around, i was wrong. its not a uicc but a full on sim card
im a big enough man to admit when im wrong
hey guys.
im using a japan version Z1 called SOL23 with sim unlocked, and tha im living in China using China Unicom which using LTE(2100)/WCDMA/GSM network.
here is my problem.
with stock ROM, 14.3.C.0.239, android 4.4.2, i can not using LTE with its setting 'Oversea auto', which described as "LTE(prefered)/UMTS/GSM‘,(actually i found its "WCDMA(prefered)" if not checking "data roaming", but even checked data roaming and confirm that in settings.db that its "LTE/WCDMA/GSM", it still cant get LTE network, and wcdma data is also dead. there's cross mark on signal bar. but when calling someone it turns 3g signal on but soon after the call goes nothing again. cant revieve calls either.).
then i found on this page http://htcsoku.info/htcsokudev/rudimentary-knowledge/au-gaga-sol22-simunlock-howto/
that the roaming lte freq is only 1800mhz.
im sure thats not hardware problem 'cuz i can flash HK version of C6903 (14.4.a.0.108) with flashtool(exclude everthing but kernel and system) and use LTE network fine(got 2.5MB/s downloading speed with only 1 bar signal amazing), phone call, sms, everything is fine except NFC and Infrared.
i'd like to get a perfect z1 so can anyone help me crack the japan ver ROM 14.3.C.0.239 to use LTE normally or make NFC(i guess its Felica ver) work on global version? with much thanks.

It can be the problem. You need to know many HK network carrier does support both 1800LTE and 2600LTE. I've not heard any China LTE running at 1800mhz yet?

I think your phone only run at LTE1800, 1500 and 800.

i said im using LTE 2100 and that japan ver. the attachment shows my phone using HK C6903 ROM with LTE network.

oh yep, I didn't read it carefully because many JP models indeed their hardware only capable to do 1800mhz and in your special case, this time the hardware also works for 2100mhz but since Japan only used 1800mhz so it looks like they locked it at 1800LTE now.
You can try just flash the HK firmware baseband but if it locked in the /system side, then you will need someone to hack it.
Just a quick question, any special stuffs in the JP rom?

not much. a "close all" button on app tab, wallet based on Felica NFC chip, Infrared support(someone said flash global ver still availible), and plenty of oem apps, and much slower upgrade(4.2->4.4.2 docomo ver 2014/6/26, au ver 2014/8/5).
i tried to flash only baseband using flashtool but it shows error, and in fact i should keep my japan baseband ver to get signal in HK ver.(exclude baseband in flashtool).
i dont know whether those doing z1 android development can read this thread, but i guess this kind of thread should not post in Android Development right?

I almost have never seen xda doing mod on JP roms but some JP telephone import shops at Sin Tat Plaza(at MongKok in HK) and Ginza Plaza(at MongKok in HK) got a long history to mod JP roms. Actually, I think they have the skills to do it but I doubt they are willing to accept your job because your phone not bought by them.
I live in HK and I heard that Z1 JP version has its 4G working in Hong Kong perfectly. No HK firmware flashing even required.
Sad for ya, obviously hardware problem.
I heard there's a special version of Z1 for China, maybe u need to trade for that one. (haha japanese version always more cool, i understand that XD)

JP LTE only use 1800mhz and HK LTE supports both 1800mhz and 2600mhz so all JP LTE phone is useable in HK.
I think JP phone usually got better parts over International model like better quality of LCD panel and body materials.

Exactly what I think, z1 Japanese version have 32gb memory for internal storage by default.
It's super cool except you may not be able to unlock the bootloader and stuff on xda may not be very compatible
i have z1 sol23 update to the newest 14.3.C.0.300...
Before i used this version, my version is VTHL 2015 ( unlock sim and can used mobile data - LTE) but a lot of apps didn't running on this version and the important apps and NFC function disable by OS.
Now my version : 14.3.C.0.300
I like very much this version because this update give a lot of function:
1. All Apps can install to this version and 95% working ( i like'd very much because smartphone without apps still just PHONE)
2. NFC is enable. ( In my region : indonesia, i used for check my FLASH BCA, so i can checked my credit)
3. Battery is good for 1 day, still have 20% at night
4. The first time i used, i'm very dissapointed because no cellular signal.. But i tried to check my mobile network, we have 5 choice which 2 choice for japan only and 3 choice for all the world.
My trouble: i can used for call, recive and sms, but my mobile data didn't work.. :crying::crying::
So Please help how to active my mobile data, just 3G not LTE its enough for me.. Thanks :angel::angel::angel:
The problem I am having is with my T-Mobile sim in the Sprint nexus I get very weak UMTS/HSPA signal where I normally get full signal. Constantly dropping signal and what have you.
I also cannot get LTE. In LTE only mode, when I am outside where I get good LTE signal on my google play nexus 5 (capable of 30 megs down), the sprint nexus 5 sees every network except t-mobile's. I'm talking about the search for network menu, it shows AT&T almost always, shows verizon and metropcs' old network (311 660) and also shows sprint's lte network. All but T-Mobile's
So I decided I would swap out the antenna (the piece at the bottom held in by 4 screws that also has the loudspeaker attached to it).
With the sprint nexus' antenna in my google play nexus, everything works just fine in my google play nexus. With the google play nexus' antenna in the sprint nexus, nothings different and I cannot get LTE at all and weak HSPA.
it says "HH.SKU.1.0905" on my google play nexus 5, on the sprint one it says "HH.SKU.1.0816"
both hardware version 11. the water sticker on the sprint nexus is slightly pink, but i havent noticed any other problems
once i get in touch with my buddy who has sprint im gonna test his sim in this and see if i can get full signal LTE or what

Maybe i am wrong. But how could you expect a Sprint device to get GSM LTE? They(sprint) use different band and different technology for LTE than T-Mobile's.
I already mod my sprint lg g2 and galaxy s4 to work on att 3g network. But there is no way they could get att LTE. No a chance. It is hardware difference.
You could unlock a att device to work on T-Mobile LTE. But not a sprint device. Physically can't dow

If everythings configured the same, probably some other fault in the device. I'm not entirely sure what antenna you removed but are you sure it's the right one?
