Trouble reading email & checking weather while roaming - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hi
I am in roaming mode now (travelling the US) and I cant connect to download my emails from the email tab (only my exchange accounts work strangely enough). Neither does the weather tab allow me to update, complains about connection settings and so on. However, surfing with the browser works fine. What could be wrong? Not sure if rhe network operaators could help and which one I shouldd call, the ones here or home.

ATT Tilt - can't browse with PIE while in 3.5G (hsdpa)

Hi,
I have an AT&T Tilt 8900 (w/o cameras).
I like the phone, functionality and form very much (except the terrible battery drainage, of course).
Yesterday I purchased a USIM (a special SIM card that enables 3.5G usage).
Initially I couldn't browse the Web using PIE, couldn't check emails, etc at all.
I then removed several tweaking apps, and retained only Kaiser Tweak.
I checked the Kaiser Tweak settings, as well as the mail settings, etc.
After all this I found that I could send and receive emails while on 3.5G, but I couldn't browse directly, using PIE, nor access the Web using the links in my RSS reader.
After this I defined my Tilt on my home router, turned on WIFI, and found that these two issues did not exist.
Does any one have any idea which setting could be wrong?
Thanks.
Have you tried turning off the proxy?
At the moment, these are my settings:
I looked in: start-settings-connections-connections-my isp-manage existing connections-proxy settings, and the only thing there is the 1st checkbox, which is checked. That's it.
Is there any other place where I should look?
Thank you.
Did you try to uncheck it?
Yes, it doesn't help.
I get (in the bottom left) corner the same message ("connecting").
After about 20 seconds, it turns to "locating".
Oviously, I entered a valid URL, and have tried others as well.
The connection icon shows "H". And I know that this area has HSDPA coverage. Further, I pressed the "H" icon, and it says that it's connected to my ISP on HDSDPA.
Doesn't work when connected to my PC as well (internet passthrough)
I receive the following error:
The page you are looking for cannot be found due to unknown error 0x80072f78.
What does it mean?

windows live messenger. so flaky

I installed the 10.6.34.800 build of messenger. Im using 3 network in UK. installed WLM and the Indentify as N95 cab. used to connect fast and reliable.
lately its been pain in the a$$ to connect, it connects to HSDPA, the 3g icon changes to H but then that damn busy icon just spins until it timesout.
I flash new roms on it all the time, so always installing WLM and apps. the first few times after flashing are fine, then it grinds to a halt.
I wonder if there is some file created thats jamming it or some cache file ?
other apps work fine. IE, beyondfeed, google maps,
i would blame the 3 network, but Ive installed IM+ and it connects first time, everytime to msn network, so now Im blaming this $hit WLM. When its in this mood, it wont sync either. sticks at checking internet connectivity , after it goes to H.
has anyone having / had the same carry on ?
TIA
Happens to me too. It always seems to work really well after installing it but then fades.
i had problems with live messenger also, couldn't sync or retrieve my emails, i contacted ms support and they told me that this happens sometimes for no reason. it will work perfectly for a while then nothing. i was told to sign out and then sign back in. doing this works everytime for me.
Have you tried BeeJive? http://www.beejive.com/wm6/
3 sometimes block Live Messenger, depending on what tariff or contract you have at the time. For example if you buy the £5 Internet Browsing bundle, as part of the terms of the bundle Live Messenger is blocked. I've found some of the third party softwares have the same problem with working for awhile then breaking.
A way round the problem is to setup a proxy on your home PC, but this isn't really ideal unless anyone knows of a way of proxying Live Messenger only and not Internet Explorer.
thnx, I tried only WLM and IM+ . I'll stick with IM+ until I change to O2 or find an answer. When it played up again today, I disconnected data in comm manager and put on wi-fi. It connected in seconds on wi-fi, then when I put off wi-fi and 3g back on, it connected again instantly.
its back again to sticking this evening. IM+ works ok on w-fi and 3g, WLM connects on wi-fi only unless I get lucky and keep playing about with comm manager by disabling/ enabling data and wi-fi.
i am on 3 payg for £5 a month, so it could be part of the problem. I know, before, it point blank refused to connect on 3 until I used the Identify as N95 cab.
would love to know what's causing it.
That's the problem that's been reported in other forums/posts, if you stick an orange sim in or use Wi-FI the Live Messenger works without fail (well, almost) but as soon as you use the Three sim it keeps playing up.
The fact that you can connect via Wi-Fi, disconnect and connect straight away via GPRS/3G makes it seem like all they do is block the DNS from resolving? If so it'll be a stupidly easy fix. I've heard it's some setting in the SIM that Live Messenger looks for though, which would be much harder to break.

GMail notifications are delayed over wifi

Hello, I have been having some issues with getting GMail alerts instantly. When my N1 is on the 3G network, any new email that comes through my GMail account is notified to me instantly. When I am on WiFi though, it takes a while to alert me. Sometimes it takes 15 or 45 minutes to alert me of my new email from the time it landed in my inbox. I have a stable wifi connection, my internet connection is stable, no disconnects, as I am able to browse in my desktop. Can someone please help me? The only other app GMail related is GMail Notifier that is installed on my N1. But I doubt that is the cause.
On a possibly related note, when I try to download apps on the Marketplace, it keeps scrolling at 'Starting download' on WiFi. When on 3G, it instantly downloads and installs it. I just installed 2.2.1 on my phone.
Any suggestions, please?
Yea I'm pushing this topic again.
However, I fixed it.
Is your wifi sleep policy perhaps set to anything but "never"?
Had nothing to do with that.

ATT Moto X - will not send while connected to WiFi

My friend's Moto X just arrived. Extremely stoked about this awesome phone, but he ran into a weird problem. It would not send an MMS picture message without first disconnecting from his home network (WiFi). I did some research and came up with this post: MMS wont's send when on WiFi from this forum. It was for an S4 on VZ, so I wanted to post in the Moto X community the following hack that worked for ATT as well:
Send yourself a picture from your Gmail account that's associated with your phone, and it will work itself out. Once you have received the e-mail on the phone, MMS will work even when connected to WiFi.
I understand that MMS messages don't actually transmit via WiFi as they still go out over the data network. Therefore, you must have sufficient data coverage for the MMS to send. Another setting to check if this doesn't work is that the "Data enabled" box is checked under Settings > more (under Wifi/Bluetooth) > Mobile Networks while you are on WiFi.
Hope this helps anyone else out.
I think that's a Verizon (or maybe a CDMA) thing. My Verizon phones do what you described. My T-Mobile phone sends text and MMS while connected to Wi-Fi calling, which appears to disable the phone radio. Unless it's using data without indicating it to me.

had this issue and sending the gmail email worked like a charm. thanks so much OP. Been looking for a solution for a little while but hadn't come across anything.
instructions: Send an email from your you gmail account on your phone to the gmail account on your phone with an attached picture. Then you will be able to send MMS while connected to a wifi network. IN other words. open up gmail on your phone. send an email to yourself with an attached picture. issue solved.

[Q] Strange data issue

Hi
A few days ago I started experiencing a strange issue that I just can't resolve.
Certain apps and accounts, i.e. Facebook, email, playstore, Google, Flip board etc. simply will not load/refresh/sync over mobile network. However, I can still browse the Internet using various apps (chrome, stock browser). With Spotify, I can stream music but am unable to download. There is no issue with the data connection as I am getting 'H' or '3g' and showing decent stats on Speed test. I have no issues at all over Wifi - everything works perfectly.
It's as if something is preventing apps from syncing/refreshing over the network but not affecting Internet access.
I have an unbranded device with a sim only Talk Talk deal.
Kitkat 4.2.2
4.12.401.11
I'm going to do a hard reset next but wondered if there was another solution.
Any ideas?

At work we had a phone that did not want to sync email on 3G. (Perhals other apps, we did not check.)
It turned out his phone was roaming on 3G, and the email client was set not to push mail when roaming.
I think the guy had bad signal on its own network on this location and so the phone was roaming.
He could still use his browser and many other apps without any problems.
Maybe it has nothing to do with your problem but I thought I should post it.
Because it sure has many things in common, also in this example on WIFI everything would work fine.
Kind regards, Stefan.
Thanks for that, unfortunately it doesn't seem to be a roaming issue.
I've just factory reset the device, completely wiped everything. Tries to log into Facebook and the same thing happened. Switches to WiFi and it worked straight away.
I tried forcing the mobile data to only use WCDMA. This actually seemed to resolve the problem temporarily and I was able to update Facebook however it soon reverted to how it was and I was unable to sync email, update Facebook or download on Spotify unless over WiFi.
I'm wondering if it's the Sim card or possibly a problem with the phone but I'm struggling to understand (albeit with limited knowledge) how this strange behaviour could be hardware related...
