Got my ignito the other day and realised yesterday that I haven't received any texts. The girlfriend also asked why I hadn't replied to her messages, and when I tried to send a message it comes up with:
Your text cannot be sent, check service center address in settings

Have looked through the settings and cannot find anywhere where to input the service centre number for O2. Also tried t O2 and O2 service settings programs in the program list, and they have problems connecting to retrieve any settings. Also on the O2 customer forum other people don't seem to have this problem.
Also have called customer services and even they are a bit unaware and wern't even in the know that this phone had been released. The data service guy over there hasn't even got any settings to push to the phone and has gone off to look for some.
Any ideas ?
Edit: The technical guy talked me through going into strat->settings and the phone area, then clicking on services and the 'voice mail and text messages' then retriving the settings to get to the message centre number. But when i do this the error thrown up says:
Cannot read settings from the network, try viewing settings later or disconnect data connection and try again.

Tried taking out battery and a hard eset and nothing has helped. The only thin I have done to the phone is update to HARD-SPL but have not flashed a custom ROM yet. Could this be the problem at all, as I didn't test the SMS before updating this ?

Might not help but have you tried removing sim and replacing?

Ye the customer service guy got me to do that, and reset, but still the same. Just tried it again and still nothing. Will try my friends SIM card in the ignito to make sure it isn't my old SIM card.
Just managed to send an MMS to someone on the desk next to me at work, so just seems like MMS. Fiddling with different settings in the MMS, like gateway number ports etc, and MMS still works with a number of possible settings but no SMS.
Really hope I didn't screw it up with the HARD SPL, but will try other versions of that tonight.
Cleaned the SIM and nothing, plus a big thing I CAN RECEIVE TEXTS, but still can't send them. But in the phone settings area I can connect to the network for all the other options like call barring, caller ID, call forwarding, and call waiting, just not the voicemail and SMS option.
Lol comedy of errors.
start>settings>connections>advanced network
SMS Tab
there will be 4 possible settings here.
I sugest you try each of them, with a powercycle between each attempt just for good measure.
I had this on T-Mobile - the Sim didn't input the settings on install.
Go to phone > menu > options > services > voice and text settings and click get settings, you can try to input the service centre if it isn't there or wrong.
Cheers for that boys but still no luck. Tried all the GSM GPRS settings in the SMS tab and still the same.
ericson68, tried that lots the day I realised i was having text problems, plus the guy on the phone from O2 got me to try that, but as soon as i click on the SMS/voicemail settings tab it rejects it and says unable to contact. All other tabs on there can be conected to, like call baring etc, just the texts one which is screwed.
O2 have offered to give me a new one when a courier comes to collect the old one. only problem is my billing address is my parents house where the box is, so have to send the phone back to them tomorrow through our royal fail post system. Special delivery time I think.
Could the hard SPL upgrade have affected this in anyway, Im still running the ROM that came with it though ?
Just out of interest if you do a hard reset and then insert the sim do you get a notification asking to set up o2, or is your phone o2 branded?

The phone is O2 branded and has O2 software on it as well.
I have just hard reset it without the SIM card in and it installs some O2 things going through the progress bar, and also brings up a page to do with O2 GPRS settings and automatically configuring it.
another try
Hi
(sorry, I missed that you alredy tried this)
I have a swedish phone so I am guessing the English meny names.
Maybe you can try this.
Go into settings, select phone, select services, tap "voicemail and sms", tap "get settings from network" and see what happens. You should receive the sms servicec enter number.
Kindest Regards

Hey stefan. Thanks but have tried that, and that is where the problem is. The SMS service settings are in there but when I click 'get settings' it says:
'Cannot read settings from network, try again later'....

Hi
Is it possible to type in the number and tap ok. That should initiate the phone/network with the message center number..
If there is a number there, what number is it?

Change the SIM card
Hi,
if you search the forum you will see that several people have the same problem, including myself...
Anyways, only solution (so far) is to change the SIM card. So just change your SIM card with your provider and it should work (this is probably free or really cheap anyways, you keep the same number etc.).
I have an unlocked Diamond and the same problem. Only my SIM card with Telenor provider does not work. Other Telenor cards work and also cards from different provider work.
So just change the SIM card and it should work (some people already tried it and it worked, I am too lazy to go to the store, but I will do it soon. until then I have another SIM card (different number) which works fine)
Cheers!
was this number ported to o2, or was it a new contract?
i had the same problem in the first 24 hours, worked fine after that.
Hey
Sorry didn't reply. Just after my last post I tried a friends SIM card at work and it worked fine, so must be my old sim card (5 yrs). My contract was an upgrade and have been with O2 for those 5 yrs.
New card on way to me now, thanks for all the help !
Custom ROM time this weekend
Hi All,
I'll start this off by saying I have an outright purchased, unlocked device, that has had all the latest Samsung updates applied.
I found a rather nasty problem with my i9305 a few weeks ago - I tried to change to WCDMA/GSM (auto) and then GSM only to test a problem i was having with MMS (problem all sorted now, this is not my question) and when I did that, I found that everytime I selected the network mode of LTE/GSM/WCDMA (Auto) the phone automatically snapped it back to GSM/WCDMA (Auto) as soon as I left the settings.
I tried restarting the phone several times and changing APNs but still the same thing occured. The only way I could find to get 4G service back was to factory reset the phone!
As you all know this can be a major hassle. Earlier this week (long after this happeend) I have rooted the phone (using the ExynosAbuse APK that Chainfire posted) but i'm waiting until i have some more time (probably next weekend) to install twirp or CWM recovery so i can backup my rom before attempting to change it again (rom backup + titanium backup = should make a factory reset a bit less painful).
I'm wondering if anyone from here has any advice for me on anything I might be able to do to fix this bug for the future. I wouldn't mind dropping back to WCDMA only sometimes. Until I get decent backups all sorted I'm too scared to try doing it again as I *really* don't want to lose 4G.
Also, if it's ok to ask 2 questions in one post, my locale keeps reverting back everytime i restart the phone - is there a way to permanently change this? That is a minor niggle compared to the major problem i have with an inability to turn 4G off without factory resetting the device though.
Please Help - how can I fix this?
Regards,
Jason
Unfortunalety i don't have much to add, but this doesn't happen to me and i change from LTE to WCDMA all the time
The locale issues seems odd too, maybe something is up with your phone?

Thanks for that - when i'm in it though, I can't see any obvious method to lock the phone to UMTS only, LTE only, etc?
Each option just allows me to run various tests or find out more about that particular radio part.
PS - I've fixed my non-sticky keyboard & locale settings using Tasker:
Profile is at Device Boot, change keyboard to swiftkey 3, and locale to English (Australia) (it's this last bit that doesn't work yet, but i've raised it in the Secure Settings plugin thread
Hi.
I have never experienced this nor heard about it. But my natural reaction would be to hard reset my phone.
I do it regulary. Once a week somtimes.
It sounds as if your phone has encounterd a unusual state.
Either return it (unrooted) or do a hard reset. Some problems is not worth digging in to.

i have a same question, what a pity..
I do not believe there is a English (Australia) so that is where that issue is coming from, unless I have completely missed looking at it somehow
For the LTE issue
It is very likely that the issue was solved after the first factory reset so you should have tried it after resetting it
If this persists through a custom ROM then I advise reseting your flash counter (not needed as you used the Exynos exploit though) and bringing it back to stock then sending it straight into Samsung as it may be a problem with the LTE chip itself

Grr, just changed over the SIM in my One, and its reset all the home screen to defaults :banghead:
What's the logic behind this?
To be fair to the phone, it does ask if you want to reset it - or at least that's what I thought it asked me when I did mine?
It asked me if I wanted to setup the network provider? But I don't recall it asking me to reset the home/launcher?
My phone works excellent when it is on Sprint Network. When I go off network (when I got to work) it will maintain a 3g connection for a while but when it loses the data connection, it is gone until I am back with in Sprint's network. I know this area has Verizon and US Cell towers all over.
It gets "Error Code 65: Unable to establish wireless data connection. If the problem persists, please contact your mobile phone company." So I contacted them and basically they say it is not their fault if the towers in that area won’t allow me to roam. Well...this is not true, my wife's I-Phone always has extended data, I could be sitting right next to her with my Error Code 65 message and she could be roaming and using the data connection.
I got my MSL from sprint and reset using the dial pad. I updated profile a gazillion times. I updated PRL a gazillion times. I have factory reset a few times. When I first got the phone it would get roaming data fine. In September/October it became unusable.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Actually, no... Do I just reset it?
Thanks
I reset it. Did a hands free activation. I don't know if this will fix it or not as the factory reset prompted this as well.
Any other ideas?
Thanks
I have this same problem since rooting and flashing Stock Goodies

I have not rooted or anything. What's did sprint tell you?
When you factory reset are you doing a hard reset from bootloader? If not, try that. If same problem persists I would say it's something Sprint has messed up on your account. If they still say everything is fine on their end then maybe try RUU.
Do you have to unlock the bootloader? I looked up how to access the menu but all it's doing is restarting. Sorry newb here.
Power phone off. Hold volume down while powering on and it will bring you into bootloader menu. From there you will see option to factory reset. This way of resetting is referred to as a "hard reset". If you already tried that then look up how to perform RUU depending on what HBOOT version have. You can see what version you have while in bootloader menu.
Thanks I will give it a shot
Hi all,
I am on B378 which I got OTA.
settings, more, mobile network does not open anymore.
it worked after the update, but after sometimes enable/disable data roaming, the screen closed by itself and now it is not possible to enter this submenu anymore. when i tap on "mobile network" it briefly shows "no service" in the top left corner but the menu does not open. if I tap mobile network again, the whole settings menu will close. This is a pain as I cannot enable / disable data roaming anymore.
any idea?
other wired things I notice with this version is:
-if I disable bluetooth in the settings, it gets gray and it can´t be turned back on. but it works when I activate BT from the dropdown menu
-when the phone rings, it most times shows the name of the previous caller for 3-4 rings and then switches to the actual callers name
I have the same problem. My mobile connection drops frequently since a few days. In the past I was usually a problem with the Access Points, but I can't access the Mobile Network settings anymore. If I try to use the search I can't find the subsettings like "Carrier" or "Access point names".
I'd like to avoid to do an hard reset, also because I suspect I might happen again.
I have the same problem

In the end, I had to do a hard reset. Now it's working fine.
This is fixed in the soon to be released B383. I experienced it twice but most recently refused to do a hard reset AGAIN unless i absolutely needed to get into Mobile network settings (so was still crashing)
Just updated to B383 without hard reset and it's fixed.
it just hapened again
after a hardreset which caused lots of configurations to be redone as the backup does not correctly store all the details, settings and rights... it worked for almost 2 month, then, the phone crashed while editing a photo, the photo was gone and so were many settings, 12vs24h clock, screen brightness, screen rotation, battery level in % etc
all this could be reconfigured but the "network settings does not open" problem reappeared. this is really a pain, the phone was working without trouble all the time with Android6 but with 7, this is a nighmare.
Btw the hardreset killed my SD card, which was encrypted. some time after the hardreset, it suddenly asked for the sdcard password and it did not accept my password anymore!? The only possible fix was to use an new SD...I will never encrypt it again.
Were did you get this B383 version from Esist? my phone does not find this update yet?
echo during call
I've P9 with single sim,
the other person hears himself back, (echo) during phone call. On my end its fine.
its not network issue, as I have checked with two different network SIM cards.
any help ? :crying:
I had this on b391. Factory reset resolved.
For the mobile network problem, you don't need to factory reset actually. just change the language of the device and you can access the mobile network menu again (in another language ofcourse).
Omg..this actually works for me..I had problems first with access to wf after to setting and I realize I can turn it on from the dropdown menu ,at the end I was not able to do it even that way.I restarted phone,I opened settings, changed language-and,it works!thanks..
Wow, this was really bugging me and the temporary language switch to French worked . Thanks guys!
I have the same problem with my Honor 8 unable to access mobile data to enable data roaming. Changed the language to French then Spanish and was able to connect without problem, changed back to English and unable to access. Honor helpline ( were brilliant excellent communication prompt response to my messages) after suggesting a couple of fixes has now suggested a hard reset and revert to factory settings. Having read various threads I'm not convinced this will work. Honor must be aware of this problem and I would have thought offered a fix. I think it's a software glitch. I'll try the hard reset and keep you posted.
God bless you guys, had this silly issue while I was trying to get data abroad, and doing another hard-reset was a no-go.
I am NEVER EVER buying anything from Huawei again. Got a Honor 6x one year ago that has only worked nicely for the first month... then tons of issues (slowdowns, crashes, etc.).
Hardware is good, while the software sucks.
Thank you! thank you! 100 times! I switched to Russian - and finally got this hell menu!!! when I change back to the English - I again can't get it. But anyway - at least now I know how I can turn on the roaming!
This language change solution worked in Honor 6x too. Somehow my volte settings were disabled for jio and i couldn't make or receive calls. But changed language to Hindi and then the mobile network opened and i could change the setting. But why is this happening.
