Change SIM = Reset launcher to defaults? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Grr, just changed over the SIM in my One, and its reset all the home screen to defaults :banghead:
What's the logic behind this?

To be fair to the phone, it does ask if you want to reset it - or at least that's what I thought it asked me when I did mine?

It asked me if I wanted to setup the network provider? But I don't recall it asking me to reset the home/launcher?

Locked IMEI

Sorry if this question has been asked before... but is there any way of changing the phones IMEI so one can use it even if the phone has been locked out?
Thanks in advance!
???? by changing the insides of the phone???? It's like a MAC address on a network card, it's there to identify that phone and only that phone. It's pretty much the phones social security number.. I'm sure there is a way to clone the IMEI from another phone but I also doubt any one here will help you do something like that.
prove me wrong..
First, be aware that changing the IMEI of a phone is illegal in every known country.
Second, understand that most users here will assume that you either purchased a stolen phone or stole the phone yourself so you will get little to no sympathy here.
Third, if you are going to say that your from Turkey and don't want to pay the import tarrif to be able to register your phone with the local providers then understand that tax evasion is also a crime so again little sympathy here.
I make no assumptions, simply state the obvious warnings for you.
Also, currently there is no utility to change the IMEI on a Kaiser.
Double and triple what he said above. IMEI change = theft, generally speaking. In the unlikely event that this isn't the case here, please understand that your loss is for the greater good...

Missunderstanding!
I think you missunderstood me, and I am not saying that that is my fault!
Ok, here is the thing!
My friend purchased a tytn II becouse he wanted to have one just like mine, only thing is that somehow he got his locked! So now when he boots up his phone it asks for a password that he does not know, and someone told us that the IMEI is locked and it should be replaced!
That replacing IMEI=theft is to me something completly new!
Sorry for that!
I am not good on how to unlock phones, even tho I do know my way about computers, and I think that this is a very good phone indeed!
I also have a HTC Advantage (X7500)!
Is the phone asking for an unlock code? This has nothing to do with the IMEI. Is the TyTn II unbranded? Or is it from a specific carrier like Orange?
If the phone is from a carrier that is different from the SIM your friend is using, then all you need to do is check out the thread on this forum regarding performing a SIM unlock on the device.
Should he try putting his sim in the phone to see if it's a sim lock?
See now that you've given more info you might get somewhere.
This could be a few things.
If the device is SIM locked then you need to simply insert a SIM from the original carrier and it will continue to the OS.
If your friend applied a password to Windows Mobile then you should be able to do a hard reset by following this:
With the phone off, press & hold the two buttons above "Internet Explorer" & "Messaging" buttons (they are the tiny top ones between the two phone keys & the D-Pad)
Now turn the phone on. Release the two buttons when you see the white screen with the following text:
This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to manufacturer default. Press Send to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to cancel.
Now press the Green Phone Key.
When done it will prompt you to press Send again to restart the phone.
At this point you will be like it was when you first opened the box!

Okey, I told my friend to try a hard reset but he asked me what will happend to all his contacts?
Is there a way to back up the contacts before doing a hard reset?
Thanks in advance!
search for pim backup
If he can't get into the phone then the answer is no.
FWIW, if he did lock himself out of the OS then a hard reset is his only option. Currently he can't sync or anything because the OS is locked.

get network settings again after a hard reset?

When first starting up I got a couple of texts from t-mobile (UK) to "set up" my handset. My question is do I need to do something after a hard reset to gain these settings again? Not sure what they are to be honest - MMS settings and such?

Problem: Phone is Locked

Please assist i've locked my phone with a pin and cannot
unlock it as i've either forgotten the pin or accidentally changed it.
I'm not refering to the network lock.
hard reset should help, although it also resets device back to rom default settings and you might loose data

Get past "Change to Vodafone configuration"

Hi,
New P10. Inserted my sim and start it up:
How do I get past the prompt "Change to Vodafone configuration"
"Hi it seems like you are using a Vodafone SIM card. Do you want to change your phone settings to support the new SIM? (Please note that selecting this option will reset your device and erase your current settings and data)"
There is only OK button.
I know if I tap OK this wipes the phone. I dont want the Vodafone settings. I just want to set up my phone myself. Vodafone loads a bunch of rubbish.
But this screen seems to be difficult to bypass. HELP!
With my P8 I set up a bunch of stuff and then inserted my sim and LOST EVERYthing!!! I dont want to repeat this!!! There has to be a way out of this!!!

I tried to bypass this as well when setting up my P10 Lite, but to no avail, unfortunately. I hate that there's no choice in the matter when using a Vodafone sim card. Very annoying!
Good morning.
I'm in Turkey for work, and at the Vodafone point, i think the guy did this operation (reset and change the phone settings) without asking me.
Now my huawei P10 have some vodafone app that i can't remove.
After that, in the phone there was not app like play store, chrome, and also the keyboard, so i've made an hard reset.
Now the phone is working, but it looks like a branded phone.
How can i revert to the stock configuration?
Thank you very much

Unfortunately, whether he asked you or not, there is no way around using the Vodafone configuration when using a Vodafone sim card. It is better to do the Vodafone reset as soon as possible, because as soon as you put a Vodafone sim in, the phone will prompt you to reset, and there is no way that this can be avoided. You will then lose all of your apps and data once you do the reset, you'll need to set the phone up again.
If you cannot remove the Vodafone apps, then you should be able to disable the apps in Settings > Apps > Choose the app you want disabled > Disable.
Hi, thanks for your answer.
I know there's no other possibilities, but there are many other operators, and in the end I did another sim, not vodafone.
But this reset has caused me many problems, I was traveling without a phone, and i lost many things on the phone.
I think he was not professional at all.
Now i want to revert to factory configuration, it is possibile or i have to download and flash the firmware?
Thank you
I understand your frustration completely. I'm not sure there is a way for you to get back to the default configuration again. I think once it is reset to a specific country's configuration, it is done permanently, but I am speaking under correction.
Hopefully someone with more knowledge regarding this can help.
If it's not possible, then the only other alternative would be to rebrand your device, BUT that will require an unlocked bootloader.

Not registered on Network

Hi,
Someone could advise me, why the hell in the first step I updated to Android Pie, from Oreo! One of the big mistakes I could ever do, ruined my note 8, fiscally!!
After update to Android Pie, network was alright, data mobile, text, calls, video etc!
2 days ago, my 4G disappeared from top of my screen!!! I took out the sim hundreds of time, I've done factory network reset, I was in Phone app, cleared cached!
I got this big issue, called NOT REGISTERED TO NETWORK! someone could tell me how can I sort out?
Please see the pictures attached
Did you check if your imei has is still the good one? I had an issue like this after flashing a new ROM on my Galaxy S2. Maybe your upgrade failed on some part.

How did you do this? I don't see this option on my Exynos Note 8
the phone was blacklisted by network mother, and can be use only on that network! I tried everything to fix it but nothing, seems to be was impossible! I bought the phone from Facebook, was brand new, sealed, unlocked at that moment, can take any SIM! exactly after 1 year, the stopped accepting my SIM, i thought initial phone was bought via a contract and the person stopped paying his monthly payments, so they blocked to use only on that network!
How I've done an factory network reset, try to search in settings, but I am sure all option for resetting are on section factory reset!

this wipe "only" erase APN options.. not a wipe config your app for restart that.
in apps search SIM app. SIM CONFIG or similar option. delete cache and data in modo avion. then, after delete and force stop, desactive modo avion.
mi note8 haved similar problem and i resolved with that.
I finally got it fixed by following simple procedure I found at another XDA thread.
