Consider this, since TD has sensor will it possible for someone to develop a program when activates, it will sense the movement / tilt of the phone and sound an alarm and autolock the phone.
Just for fun software I guess. anyone?

HI,
Here's an idea for developers who doesn't know what app to write next.
I was thinking about using a front camera as a ear/face detector. You start it along with the dialer and monitor the output. As long as the picture is bright above set threshold app does nothing, once the picture tuns black (when you put the phone to your head) the app turns off the screen, turns off outer speaker etc.
There is of course problem of calls at night but still I think it would be nice and maybe even useful app.
So, anyone want to try ?
I'd have thought the biggest problem here would be telling the difference between my ear and the inside of my pocket.
a motion sensor would be helpfull here :/
there was a great discussion about wearable computing on the chaos communication congress a few weeks ago.
they mentioned problems like "where is the device" ie. tracking the position on your body. on possible solution is sending and recognizing a sound played by the external speaker and recorded via the mic thus you can determine if its in the pocket or not

Would this really be a problem? I'd think that turning the screen off while the device is in your pocket would be just as useful as while near your face.

This could be at least partially solved by using the system clock to only have the app active during specified hours of the day.

Not to mention that the idea mentioned in the original post suggested starting the "ear-detection" with the dialer. Hopefully you don't routinely use the dialer while it's in your pocket.
This is a great idea... but do get me wrong; a face recognition app to unlock the device could be a start
Ignore me I'm an idiot. I thought you wanted the phone to answer when it's up against your ear.
Since I'm a lot on the road, driving, it's handy, when recieving a call, if the phone automatically is set on handsfree (speaker of the phone).
In the past there was the program from Oldsap to do this but the latest version of this does not work on my Diamond2
Does somebody know other free software for this? or,
Does somebody know a registry tweak or entry so the phone is alway's in handsfree modus, over the speaker of the phone?
Thanks in advance....
Try searching for touch_incall_screen_tweak in the forums.
Works well with my d2, just need to flip over the phone & it turns on the speaker, flip it back the speaker shuts of.

Flipping the phone when is placed in car holder, during driving, is difficult, don't you think.
There must be another way to do this...!!
Somebody has an answer
Is it pssible to intergrate to CM a Ringtone silencer on handsent movement. The same feature is embeded and very useful on Modaco Desire Rom i used. When the phone is ringing and you grab it and move it the ringtone is silenced.
I've been curious about this feature. So what if the phone is in your pocket and starts to ring. From the movement inside of you pocket, would the phone then silence itself? It seems like a pretty cool feature, but if it just goes off based on any movement, that may not work out so well for me.
To tell you the truth i didn't face any problems from the silencing in my pocket. The algorith htc used is pretty "smart" and in most cases it understood when you were aproacing your head and silenced the ringtone.
If that's the case then it looks like the phone isn't silencing itself based on feedback from the accelerometer, but rather, by feed back from the proximity sensor.

It has to be the accelerometer. I have the Sprint Hero, and we have no Proximity sensor on or device. With the 2.1 leak loaded on mine, the sound volume does go way down when I pick up the phone, and I have never had any problems with it in my pocket.
My HTC HD7 is randomly muting itself. It does this ALOT. Its beginning to become a nuisance to the point where its making me late for work. The only way to get the sound back is to remove the battery and restart the phone, but this is incredibly annoying. And even after i do this, it might lose sound (AGAIN) in a day or a few hours (its random).....
I dont know what is causing this but the volume is all the way up and it is not on vibrate. Still, there is no sound and when the alarm goes off it only vibrates and fails to wake me up for work.
My HTC HD7 is also constantly having a microphone issue. When I call people, they cannot hear what I am saying. Actually they cannot hear anything at all, not static but ZERO sound. Once again, the only way for me to temporarily fix this is to remove the battery and restart the phone.
TL/DR version:
1. Phone is randomly muting it's speakers, which causes the alarm clock function to fail and make me late for work.
2. Phone is randomly muting it's mic, which prevents whoever I am calling from hearing anything that I am saying at all.
3. The only method I know to fix either of these problems is to remove battery and restart phone.
Can anybody help me? Have any of you experienced the same problem?
I hate the same issue. Biggest drawback yet to this phone! I"ve pretty much been speakerless for over 2 months. Restating wont even fix my issue. Tha alarm ALWAYS froze my phone completely. I have resorted back to my HD2's G-Alarm and use that as my alarm.
and here i was thinking i was the only one with this problem.
i love the HTC HD7 but this nuissance is getting to my nerves...
i hope Microsoft fixes this in the infamous update that is scheduled for "sometime in january" i had high hopes for this wp7 os but this makes it just as bad as wm 6.1.. and was very disappointed to find out i can't use this device for internet tethering or remoting my pc at home and many other features that my old phone had the capability of doing.
in the meantime, there is no need to remove the battery, just hold the power button for about 4 seconds, phone shuts off then turn it back on, and get sound back.
thanks.
Hello folks,
i purchased a Note 9 and I am getting in trouble because I cannot use the phone as i used to do before. When I have a call with someone and I use the speaker for free-speaking (or the usage of a car-mount in combination of the headphone jack connected to car while driving) the in-built noise-reductions destroys nearly every call. People cannot hear me correctly, because the noise-reduction is so hard, that it cut offs a lot of the words I speak. The result is, that people cannot understand me.
I contacted Samsung for this and they verified that this is a common thing for samsung phones, because their intelligent noise-reduction should turn out every other sound - sadly it also removes the own sound. I can only speak with speaker mode, when the phone is on my desk or in hand and there is no noise. Even when I have the phone in the sink while washing my hands (common corona-stuff) people cant here me correctly anymore due the filter of the water-noise.
Samsung has no option to turn off this "feature" and the mic works perfectly for recording audiologs or whatsapp-voice notes.
So my request now is: Is there any way to get rid of this noise-reduction-feature while in Call?
I could imagine that maybe root gives access to this function or maybe also a custom rom. Can anybody help me with this and giving me a good answer ?
