Possible to map lock/unlock to one key? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Is it possible to map lock and unlock to one key? preferably the main round hard button?
Also, when I go to settings and buttons, I can't change anything as it doesn't show any keys to assign programs too... Can this be "fixed" ?
I am running standard rom (all bar the radio part which I upgraded cos reception was awful otherwise) and I have touch flo turned off cos it seemed to eat battery power.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Question about the hardware buttons

Hi everyone,
I was wondering... is it possible to change the hardware buttons permanently? I mean, if I do a soft reset, the button are mapped back to their original settings. Do I have to modify the registry and how?
I would prefer a solution that does not require software if possible.
Thx !!
hahahaha, it's all software. Even the OS!
Maybe I wasn't clear...
I mean "I prefer a solution that does not require additional software". Is there a setting in the OS (maybe a registry hack) to change the buttons mapping?
hi atzakas,
after softreset buttons should not be mapped back, they should be as you mapped them in Settings.
They are mapped back if you do hard-reset, but that is understandible, you can't hack it.
you can also check this app with 40 additional commands for hardware buttons:
http://handster.com/product.php?id=6
there you can map to buttons things like: switch programs (Alt-Tab), backlight loop, new task, new appointment, etc
Regards,
Victor
Thanks for the reply, but I wouldn't have asked if it was so simple.
I change the button settings, then do a soft reset and the settings are back to the original settings.
I guess I'll have to live with that
i experienced the same problem with an O2 XDA IIi, however, this is cured misteriously recently

mmm there might be an application for this.
i suggest using s2u2 to slide to unlock when the device wakes up
and if you dont want to used applications, just use the lock and set it to 0 minus and but a simple 4 digits password...
Karim
i don't want to use a password or s2u2.
i hope there is a registry hack or something for this
Do you mean only the power button to be active?
If so use..
Start Menu->Settings->System->Key Lock
select the first option.
not really i want to lock all keys
i want the function lock keys (from long hang-up en lock keys) activate when the diamond go in standby

Remap Home button

First of all, thanks for all good advices and programs from you guys!
My question: How could I remap the Home button to go to SPB Now instead of WM Today?
Thanks an Happy New Year!
Remap...
You can use this application, which uses the touch panel to scroll in apps and use the four hardware buttons to launch apps by touch, thus giving you 4 buttons to map applications to. It's worth a look at least.
I've not heard of anyone actually remapping the 'Home' key itself.
you probably cannot remap home key unless you modify its keypad driver. By the time I bought this, I also thought I could remap or hook the hardware keys to other actions as other WM devices can but it does it in an unusual way that limit the possibility of the OS itself. Moreover, the keys often does not response or response wrongly, you just cannot rely on them as you could on other PDA.
try dredsensor!
it works~ but it doesnt go well with my BSB WM6.5 rom's titanium screen. can scroll or use arrow (up or down) on the titanium.

Missing buttons in settings

Hi i have a problem with my MDA IV Compact. I searched the forums but found no answer to my problem.
I want to do some basic button remapping and so i go to settings -> personal -> buttons and guess what. There are NO buttons listed in the buttons list.
Has anyone come across this before and if so can you help me solve it? I mean there are only few hardware buttons present in diamond its a shame not to be able to map them.
Button mapping...
The only button you can map by default is the long press of the 'dial' hardware key. This should be showing in your button list as 'Button 1(Hold)'. There is an application called GScroll available here, which lets you map the four hardware keys by touch (double tapping them). Not exactly what you're after, but it's all I can think of to help you out
thats thing. i get NO buttons on my list gscroll looks nice. too bad its not free ware. but its cheap so i may get it.
you can use dredsensor
this tool allow you to remap buttons depending on running programs
No, no, no!
Diamond CAN have its call key remapped via Windows.
I had the opposite; a glitch entry appeared in the buttons list.
I am attaching a reg-file which will bring back the call button mapping. But be careful, this comes from Windows with localization patch.
Or, you can hard reset. If MDA CIV ROM creators didn't remove it intentionally, it should be there.

Button Mappings on Android for the HTC Vogue

Hello XDA'ers,
I am wondering what the reason behind why the buttons (camera, power, green, red, etc.) in Android on HTC Vogue map to the various tasks they do? For example, the camera button is back, but why not the red button? Is this something hard set in Android and cannot be changed or did someone specifically set it up this way for a reason?
Secondly I am wondering if I create a new "keylayout file" (source.android.com/porting/keymaps_keyboard_input.html) or modify the default one in /system/usr/keylayout/qwerty.kl will I be able to change the mapping of these buttons?
Compared to the Win Mobile mapping, they button layout can take some getting used to,
but once you get used to it, it's actually a very cool layout, especially if you are right handed.
You can hold the phone in your left hand, and use your thumb to access the settings 'top button',
Use your ring-finger to always back-out or end an app
Green button for phone / initiating calls
Red button to end a call, sleep mode, or power off
I wish the d-pad had more use, but I'm always using the stylus, so barely use it.
Would love for the d-pad center key to maybe be the main power-off button.

I completely agree the current layout is a very cool layout indeed, but as I imagine most people on here like to tinker it may be interesting to know how to customize the button bindings.
I am not sure if its just a matter of changing the button layout file.
I looked at that qwerty.kl file in the android.tgz
It looks like its just a mapping file, and if you change the mapping, you change
buttons,
but doesn't that mean you're just re-mapping the button itself?
Not re-mapping its functionality?
I.e., if you remapped the camera button to the d-pad center, for example, then
the d-pad center would do all functions the camera button used to do,
and the camera button would do any functions the d-pad center would?
Seems like you'd actually have to change more code than just the .kl file?
i wrote this application for polaris, and with simple changes you can add the vogue setup...
