Hey everyone - I am about to switch to a different mail client because of the limitations in the default Windows Mail on my Diamond, but that will of course make the email tab virtually useless as well. Unless...
Does anyone know if you can customize the folder from which the animated envelope renders messages? It would be really great we could configure it to point to a different folder in our synchronized folder list...

I'm trying to do 2 things on my new Tytn II and I'm wondering if anyone knows how.
First, and mostly simple, I want to somehow enable the date to show on the top bar of all screens, sort of how you can enable the clock to show on all applications. Any ideas?
Also, I manage all of my contacts through Goodlink so that it is sync'd with work. However, this prevents me from using certain features that are in the device. For example, you can't set a voice dial to a contact in Good unless it's in the Outlook mobile client that comes with the device. Is there any way to automatically sync all Good contacts with the Outlook client so the two are always up to date?
Thanks!
For the first issue, click on the clock, then on the "more" tab, there is only 1 option in this window, which does what you want
My e-mail is currently sync'd to an Exchange 2003 server, which works beautifully apart from one thing. In my exchange rules I have certain rules set so that the e-mail is simply placed into a different folder. On my phone I have selected the subfolders that I want to also sync on the phone, but this is where my problems start.
When an e-mail comes into the subfolder, not only does it not alert me with any sound, it also does not display on the unread e-mails list so I have many a time missed an e-mail that I needed to see. The e-mail is visible as unread when expanding the outlook folder tree or entering the subfolder, but not anywhere useful.
Is there anything I can do to remedy this without having to resort to a massive collect all inbox?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
Rob
I asked the same thing when i got mine because i have many sub-folders and the outcome is no you cannot, suck i know. I did find though that SPB Diary does and will let you choose your subfolders and displays them on the today screen. My problem was though SPB Diary slowed my phone down but so far that is the only workaround I had found. Here is a link to SPB Diary.

You can look at CheckMail application (http://www.magica.ro/pda_pocket_checkmail.php) which solves the problem of unread mails from subfolders.
This application monitor ActiveSync events and alert the user when there are unread mails in inbox and Subfolders.
You can test the application by downloading the demo version.
I really like watchflag.

Cool I have been looking for a solution for this for a long time! I wish that there were an easy way around this for both my phone and in outlook. I do feel that it is something that I shouldn't have to pay for though :-/ And I don't want to slow down my phone any more than it already is.

Hi there!
I searched the forum using google - but couldnt find a solution for my problem: I am using an exchange server with directpush on my WM 6.1 (no thrills v3 rom)... notification works perfect when the new mail is in the standard inbox -> but when my server side filter rules move the new mail into a subfolder, then my mobile device doesnt alert me that a new mail arrived!
I HAVE already marked the responding subfolders as "synced" (mobile outlook -> extras -> manage folders) but still no alert for those folders?
Any suggestions are highly appreciated!

You are right, there's no solution!
At least not when you use WM Outlook.
Only workaround is to use FlexMail. (Or maybe another 3rd party app)
Hm Flexmail ok... - are u using this one? Any experiences compared to pocket outlook? What about exchange implementation (like scheduler - time coordination between participants etc) and traffic?

No, I don't use FlexMail. Sorry, can't help you with that.
I tested Flexmail: Notification functions with every sort of account except MAPI and so except the communication with the Exchange server. Too bad
Can this be true? If we want to use push-mail / contacts / whatever together with our exchange server, then we cannot use subfolders and rulesets because only the basefolder will pop up a notification?
Is there no update / patch for pOutlook?
Try Watchflag, works with built in email client in windows mobile and allows to alert on subfolders. $20 though.
Yeah, I had this same problem, too. I have a Windows Mobile 6 device syncing with Microsoft Exchange. I have server-side rules set up to automatically route emails to different folders, which are synced.
The solution? Well, I couldn't find one, so I wrote one:

It's a lightweight Today screen plugin that will display all your unread emails, in all your folders and accounts. As you read your mail, the display will automatically update. Also, you can configure each mail account to have its own alert as new messages arrive.
The free version supports alerts and sum-total emails for each account. (like the Messaging plug-in, but includes all your unread emails, not just the inbox)
For the $10 activation fee, you get the ability to have the today screen break out the folders with unread messages, so you can navigate directly there.
Cheers!

HTC UI
Any chance this could be implemented for HTC users? In HTC sense, there is no homescreen ;(
Dear ForumMembers,
I sync my outlook email with my Diamond. My Outlook is configured to move all my mail to different personal mailfolders (private/business/commissions/etc...) After filtering there are no mails in the Inbox (And this is fine).
The TouchFlo mail-tab only shows the mails in the Inbox. Since I have no mails in my Inbox, this feature is rather useless to me. I was wondering wether it woud be possible to let TouchFlo look in one of my personal mailboxes, instead of the Inbox. Does anyone have any idea how to go about that?
Thanks in advance!
I've been messing around with SEVEN, and it seems to do everything I want (sync read/unread status, deletion) except I haven't found a way to archive email or search through All Mail.
Are those two things possible (or do you have to use the web interface or the java app)?
Seven treats gmail like any other imap server (at least for e-mail fetching functions, though I think the configuration is tweaked to deal with gmail's unique folder layout and have things work fairly seamlessly with what appear as "labels" in the gmail interface.
It also is limited to getting mail from a certain time period, instead of everything on g-mail's server.
So all you can view and search is what's from within that time period -- for anything else, you'll need the java app or web site.
Thanks for the info!
Too bad you can't archive email... There isn't a way to set up a label with a filter, so you can instead just move email into an archiving folder?
Also, is it possible to get the preview in TouchFlo 3D to show the content of the email? (it says "Click to view message" instead of showing me the head of the message).
