TT7 Paid Traffic Rip off - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

As to those that have the paid subscription....
When using TTHome, that it is priced at $29.99 until it actually bills your credit card.... then the price jumps to $59.99.
I have called TT support on it... they said that they can refund my money or I can pay the $59. They refuse to do a partial refund.
Here are the emails thus far....
Names have been changed to protect me.
Traffic over charge and non performance.

I understand.
But you guys are going to want to send out an update to TOM TOM home TODAY!
I have attached my screen shots for your convenience.
The practice of showing one price all the way through the purchase process and then doubling it at the time of credit card charge is not just poor customer service. This practice is specifically illegal in all 50 states and is referred to as "bait and switch".
While all I want is the difference refunded, some other enterprising customer isn't going to be as understanding as I am and sue you guys... and win.
I am not trying to threaten you... I just want my price honored for a product that I am willing to wait until you guys get it working.
Please let me know. For the record, I do not want a full refund. When it works, TT traffic is great.

Dear Cyjeff,
Thank you for taking the time to contact TomTom Support regarding traffic cost. It is our goal to provide you with an exceptional customer experience. We are always happy to help.
The cost for traffic is 59.99. We have not had this for the sale price of 29.95 since July 31st. This is why we are unable to provide you with a refund for the partial amount. You were charged the correct amount for the traffic subscription, as you purchased this on August 15th. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
If you have any further questions or comments, please email or call us at 866-486-6866 Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM until 7:00 PM EST. Thanks again for writing. At TomTom we believe in showing you the way the easy way.
With Best Regards,

I understand your reluctance to refund a partial amount.
However, I am not really asking for a partial refund. I am asking for an incorrect overcharge to be backed out.
Maybe we need to look at this from another angle. How much is the going rate for Traffic? I paid $59.99.

I have two problems.
One, I recently bought the USA and Canada maps, but wanted to add traffic.
I thought I was paying $29.99 for the traffic add on until I got my bill. Which is the real price (see attached screenshots).
Two - I live in Atlanta. The TOM TOM traffic servers here work one day out of 3. Is this going to get better? If yes, in what time frame?

that's really taking people for stupid, like almost with any customer service when you ask money back.
Kee up the fight .
Was there a sentence like: you are booking now but until you've been charge we can not guarantee thr price? (that's what they are always doing online for flight booking, at least often...)

[Update]
Apparently, TOMTOM reads this forum.
For bringing this wrong to their attention, they are crediting me my overage AND provided me with a couple of maps gratis.
very pleased with the fast and professional turnaround.

Why pay $59 for it when both google and microsoft provide it for free? Both Microsoft llive search and google mobile maps provide online traffic information for free.

yap microsoft works perfect especially on POI side, however if traveling in remote areas where data service not available those programs wont work,
I have both tomtom 7 and garmin xt and I prefer garmin xt, free traffic for life and really good looking maps

For me, it was two fold.
One, I travel all over the world and needed to have a solution that provided global mapping.
Two, I didn't want to have to swap out a dedicated SD card to use it.
That left me with TomTom.

In another topic it was mentioned that Garmin has free traffic subscription and is designed for driving, so might be better then Google Maps. Never used it myself though.

Exchange 2007 pushmail accounts

Hello all, I really debated on where to post this..I havent been too active for awhile on the forums, been busy, but I imagine I'll be snagging a Kaiser sometime coming up, so I suppose I'll stick it here.
I am offering Exchange 2007 pushmail accounts, with Outlook Web Access, and alias's, you can find more details, and pricing at http://gfyinc.org
My value plan monthly price is $4.00, or $44.00 for a year, but if you have donated to XDA Developers(as in star by your name) I will provide you with details to sign up for $3.00 a month, or $32.00 a year, or a $1.00 off any of the larger plans listed.
I am in no way trying to affiliate myself with XDA by offering the discount, and Im not setting a very good example by not having donated yet, I just know I or a lot of us wouldnt be here without this place, and want to encourage donations, I would rather you donate here, and receive the dollar a month discount.
Less than you pay for a cheeseburger and fires, and you get a whole month of instant html email sweetness.
P.M. me for details. sorry to kinda spam you, and thank you.
what kind of gaurantees do we have of this service
If you're after a completely free exchange account try here: http://live.mail2web.com/
I've used them for push mail for years and I've had no problems at all.

Like its says in my FAQ, if youre less that 15 days into the 30 day billing period, and unsatisfied, I will return your payment.
I do still have a couple upgrades I would like to put in place within the next month, but I really hate to spend too much more, when Im not really seeing that much interest from the get go, but if you want a month for free to check it out, let me know, I would appreciate any business.

Thanks for your input, after dumping a few grand into building redundant servers, and taking the time to set it all up, not to mention the stress, I really like to have some really nice person chime in and tell me and others its free elsewhere, its hard enough being the small guy and trying to compete in a world of giants.

Rather than complaining surely the best response would of been why your service is better than mail2web's? For example...
$4 a month gets you a mail alias. At M2W it's $4.95 a month.
Does your service included access using Outlook on a PC?
What about Spam filtering?
What about Anti Virus?

Telenav is here

i called telenav and was able to get a copy of telenav, is there an interest id me linking to it ?
Wdum? Like posting the link? Idk if thats ok on these forums unless it's the trial.
its not the trial, its the full version. but you still have to have an account to use it. they will not give it to cingular users who use the g1, but i acquired a copy. and i am not sure if these forums allow that or not.
h. I'm guessing you pay for the account? I dont really know how the app works in terms of activating lol
It's $10 a month but I don't like pay monthly I don't understand why they just don't put a price to the software and that's it. Why they charge monthly?
http://www.telenav.com/gps-navigator/t-mobile-g1-phone/
Im trying out the demo version, do you wanna post a review and screenshot of it in paid apps or would you like me to?
I haven't installed it, I always forget to cancel autostart subscriptions. Although I guess I could put a reminder in my phone.
Haha ok ill put one up there, so far it works really good, a bit sluggish but i dont have the best signal right now!

OMG that is so (insert term applicable to aad4321, used in a derogatory manner) that you would think they would charge for a trial version. That's usually what a trial version IS.

Anyone and everyone requires a credit card, for auto renewal AFTER the 30-day trial.
It's almost a standard for most companies now-a-days.

Thank you. I wouldn't put my card information in a trial version of anything. That's very "uncool."
Most credit card companies will let you make a vitual card number that is only good once. I think PayPal was exploring the same option too. This way they can't make it recurring.
any idea if it'll work in UK? on US only?
TeleNav GPS Navigator problem
hey guys,
i am using telenav gps for 30 days trial. when i tried to type in an address then click ok, the display says "getting gps" 30....31...32...34...blah blah till 100 percents for 8 minutes. then it says "no gps, please move to open area".. i was in my car and been waiting till done before leave. my email is confirmed. i live in san diego.
I don't have any experience with telenav, but does the gps work normaly? Say for goggle maps?
Move to an area that you can pick up a signal, that might help.
Telenav GPS Navigation Update? How will we know?
Ok I got the Telenav GPS Navigation software and I am mostly pleased. However, My question is when and if they update the software how will I know there's a new update for the software since it isn't downloaded through the Android Market? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Well I'm not sure. See I called the customer service not too long ago and I got this guy that didn't seem like he knew much of what he was talking about. And I asked him and he told me you had to call and ask. But I think that's ridiculous. And I agree with you. You should be able to download it on the market. It is free. Its the service u have to pay for not the application. so I hope they eventually put it on there or send us emails or something. Its gonna bug me because come on, it works pretty good but it clearly needs some updates.

[haiti needs your help]

http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2010/01/12/thoughts-and-prayers-haiti
I know people in Haiti (Family) so I ask XDA if they can simply help out! with our devices simply text to help out please.. I am sure 5 or 10 bucks added on to your next bill wouldn't hurt..
simply text "HAITI" to "90999" and a donation of $10 will be given automatically to the Red Cross to help with relief efforts, charged to your cell phone bill.
Here is a secondary option. We're asking individuals to donate $5.00 by texting 'YELE' to 501501. This amount will be billed on your next cellphone bill, simply meaning that you will receive an additional charge on your next bill. If you're unable to use this method, you may visit the site http://www.yele.org. Ladies and gentlemen, the people of Haiti are in great need of our help.
My condolences go out to all of the families that have been affected by this tragic event.

Did you sell your soul for games?

Found at uk.yahoo
As i can not post link here is the complete article:
Answer this question honestly – do you read the small print when you buy games on the internet?
High Street retailing giant GameStation decided to put this to the test and inserted a new clause into their terms and conditions earlier this month that granted them legal rights to the immortal souls of thousands of their online customers. Here, in darkest legalese, is how they got away with such a heinous act:
"By placing an order via this Web site on the first day of the fourth month of the year 2010 Anno Domini, you agree to grant Us a non transferable option to claim, for now and for ever more, your immortal soul. Should We wish to exercise this option, you agree to surrender your immortal soul, and any claim you may have on it, within 5 (five) working days of receiving written notification from gamestation.co.uk or one of its duly authorised minions."
GameStation’s fiendish clause specified that they might serve such notice in “six foot-high letters of fire” too, but also offered customers an option to opt out, rewarding them with a £5 money-off voucher if they did so.
Alas, hardly anyone noticed the clause, let alone the substantial bonus for spotting the gag. More to the point, the fact that it passed more or less unnoticed raises an important issue – too few people actually read the small print when they make online purchases.
According to GameStation, around 7,500 customers carelessly signed their souls away on the day. Were you one of them...?

Google Play / Google Wallet Tax Information for UK users

im extremely confused about all of this, i kind of stumbled into this google play malarky by mistake
So..
Im in the Uk
I got some apps on google play.
ive made £4 in a couple of months.(i made a couple of apps 50p just to see what happens/stop all those promo sites integrating my wares as their own.)
now i get this:
Tax information required
Tax regulations in the US require that Google have complete and accurate tax information for our customers. Such forms are required in the event that a payee is located in the US or whose content is sold in the US. Please update your tax information in order to get paid.
Do i need to do this? Will i burn in hell for it?
And do i need to be a "business"?
im an idiot.
i hear that this is where people who actually know what they are talking about lurk.
help.
what is everyone's thoughts on this? any UK users had to do this?
I'm also interested how to deal with it
Hi,
Sorry for the late reply..
But YES, you need to fill these forms out. No you won't burn in hell so long as you are no a US citizen, do not carry out business in the US, etc.. (read what it says on the form). For 95% of developers this will be the case.
You will need to declare your earnings to HMRC.. I would check out if there is a lower limit below which it can be considered a "hobby", otherwise you should become a sole trader or a Ltd company. This will require year-end accounts to be filed, which could cost you about £500-£800 for an accountant.
Send me a PM if you would like some help. Also, I have bought developer's accounts in the past so might be interested in yours.
