anyone experiencing corrupted photo saving?
i'm using swiftbl 6.0 full, camera set to 3mpix, best photo quality and saving into internal storage - almost all of photos taken are corrupted - right after taking the shot, quick preview shows perfect photo, thumbnails in album are also ok.
but when viewing the picture on the phone in fullscreen, lots of pictures are just plain black or plain white or full of jpeg compression artifacts. when viewing on pc, some kind of compression error is visible in top left corner. photoshop refuses to open some of them because of error.
is this behaviour common? is it due to not-official rom or all diamonds do this? or are the files corrupted because of saving to internal memory? quick preview looks great, so the problem is in saving the files. how to fix that?
sample bad photos:

this should be daylight photo. due to some error it is almost completely black. quick preview was ok, thumbnail is ok.

almost ok, but notice 16px column of bad data on the left

photoshop refuses to open this one, acdsee shows only broken artifacts, in browser note the bad data in top left corner
thanks for any advice
no mas to nake pokurvene nastesti jsem nic podobne nezaznamenal...jediny problem je ze nekdy fotky koduje na vysku ikdyz byli focene podelne...
thanks, but i need to solve this, not to cry that it's f**ked up. i've tried to change saving location to main memory, but corruption is still present...

Hi there
I have read lots of posts on how to enable GPS Photo feature on the kaiser but mine came with it on already. I seem to be having problems exporting these pictures from the phone with the geo data in the Exif tags. I usually just drag them over using the USB connection but when I check them on the PC the GPS data isn't there. I don't know if it is being stripped or just not being attached to the photo. The GPS light is on and the green symbol light up on the screen when I take the pictures.
Does anyone else have the same problem?
The EXIF data should have that. COuld it be the program you are using to read the EXIF data doesn't understand or show the GPS info (or is it just dumping it).
I haven't played with the GPS photo much, but I did find that Picasaweb properly handles GPS EXIF tags now. I use a free program called Shozu (Shozu.com) that after you take a pic will upload your pic to the web, send it via email, post it in blog, etc.. I have it setup to send mine to Picasaweb, and after turning on the EXIF processing in Picasaweb on my account, my pics show the GPS info.
So make sure you are on teh GPS Photo setting of the Camera software (you won't get GPS tags in any other format), then maybe try uploading the pics to Picasaweb (you can create a free account at picasaweb.google.com). If you try this, remember to turn on the EXIF settings first.
Thanks mfrazzz
Since posting this I have checked the photos generated by the kaiser using Exif Reader (which is really neat by the way, no installation needed and tells you just what you need). There is GPS data there:
GPS Informtion
GPSVersionID : 2,2,0,0
GPSLatitudeRef : S
GPSLatitude : 32 3XX6 [DMS]
GPSLongitudeRef : E
GPSLongitude : 151 XX31 [DMS]
GPSAltitudeRef : Sea level
GPSAltitude : 0/1 meters
GPSTimeStamp : 02:01:28
GPSMapDatum : WGS-84
GPSProcessingMethod : HYBRID-FIX
GPSDateStamp : 2007:12:09
The problem I am having is reading that data in Picasa on the PC, or on the web. I copy the images from my Phone over the USB to my desktop and check the Exif data, all appears good. When I drag the pictures into Picasa from the desktop and right click on properties there is no geo data there. I wonder if there is some intermittent problem as this technique has worked a few times in the past.
A picture that did import correctly has different Exif data to the one above:
GPS Informtion
GPSVersionID : 0,0,2,2
GPSLatitudeRef : S
GPSLatitude : 32 4XX0 [DMS]
GPSLongitudeRef : E
GPSLongitude : 151 1XX7 [DMS]
GPSAltitudeRef : Sea level
GPSAltitude : 0/1 meters
Quite a bit missing, interesting.
Update
Just found this on the picasa forum, and sure enough it works
"http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=75179
I have fixed some of my photos using exiftool (http://
www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/):
exiftool <foldername> -r -GPSVersionID=2.2.0.0
Where <foldername> is the folder where the affected photo files are,
not that this command will set GPSVersionID to 2.2.0.0 for ALL files
within the folder specified in <foldername> recursevly (that means
includding all subfolders within the <foldername>). Having a backup is
recommended. After running that, all of my pics showed up in Picasa
just fine."
The odd thing is that the GPSVersionID tag already seems to be 2.2.0.0 in the images created by the kaiser. Perhaps there is a space at the end??
I've been messing with the GPS Photo function and I'm trying it with Picasaweb and Shozu as mentioned above. I took 5 photos this weekend. The first was just testing, the other 4 were at the park with my family. Between taking the first and the other 4, I changed the camera setting to show the timestamp when the photo was taken. Today I installed Shozu and uploaded all five pics - only the first pic contains any GPS data that Picasaweb has managed to interpret. The last 4 show as blank.
Do you guys have the timestamp set to be shown on the picture? I'm just trying to figure out what might have affected it. The file location is the same, as is the resolution.
I'll try another pic tonight and let you know.

No, I haven't ever turned that on. I also seem to get the same random luck when importing the photos with the GPS Exif data. I think this is more of a problem with Picasa as the pictures I take do have the geo data attached. It might be a simple string mismatch. I guess looking at the Exif protocol would be the next step. Checking the images that do work against the ones that don't so far hasn't thrown much light on it for me.
If I get time I will do some more work on it today.
don't use the camera often, but recently, I found when taking a picture, all is normal, good scene on screen, autofocus, etc and when I shoot the picture, it does not save. Running a Tilt, stock ROM, and have tried various camera/album combinations trying to find one that works. Currently with Navadi version 5. Interestingly enough, I can take video and it works well, just will not save still photos. Camera program sees my storage card, everything seems normal, except no photo file after snapping the shot. I am out of ideas.
i think it is saving them to the dcim folder on ur sd card
Nope, nothing there. It does not even go through the usual motions of freezing the frame for a second while saving. I have scoured the phone and card and find nothing.
Fire up schaps advanced config, check the "Save location" under "Camera" and "Default storage locatin for images" under "Locations".
By combining the two you should be able to find it. I left the DCIM option on once and took me ages to find the photo, but it was in a DCIM folder on my storage card, somewhere...
Also,
Use total commander or resco file explorer to search for the files. *.jpg for example

Thanks, already tried all of that, seems there is either a software or hardware issue with saving pictures. I am beginning to believe it is a hardware issue, although a curious one indeed. I am pretty good with these devices and this one has me stumped, never lost to a computer yet, though. If it is a hardware issue, maybe tough to fix.
I have a similar problem: taking pictures works fine and it saves them in the correct folder on my storage card, as I set it in Advanced Config.
But whenever I take a GPS photo, I can't find the pictures anywhere. Are GPS photos being saved somewhere else I don't know about? If so, does anyone know which folder they're saved to? If not, has anyone else had this particular problem?

The GPS photos are stored in \My Documents\My POI (or \Storage Card\My Documents\My POI if you've chosen to store your pictures on your SD card).

I've had similar issues with mine (also running the stock AT&T ROM). What I've found is that the "press halfway to autofocus, but all the way to take the picture" thing often makes me believe that I've taken the picture, when I haven't. If I am more careful about pushing the button in all the way, it'll take the photo and save it.

Yes, I actually found out about the same time you posted this reply.
Thanks for your help!
Possibly related issue: My tilt camera will save fine to device storage, but if I tell it to save to the SD card, I get nothing. If I catch the photo while it is displayed for review, and click the mail button, I can send it in an email. Even stranger, if I take a jpeg, and copy/paste it to the DCIM folder, it never appears, but I can write to other parts of the card fine.
I think this is a software problem, not hardware.
EDIT:
Found solution on another thread. Camera dosen't like folders created already on the card, so to solve, just delete the DCIM folder, and restart camera.
Hello,
i've got a Problem with my o2 XDA Diamond (Rom 1.93.207.2),

Good day to all:
In the last few days (3 to 4) I have been having problems in viewing picture from the web browser. It may sound weird, but, before I could search any picture on Google, click on the picture and then click on the tab that said view full size, and what would you know, it would let me see the picture in full size. Now when I click on the tab that says to view full size, the picture stays the same size, when I tried to download the picture instead of downloading the full bits of information, it would only give me partial information. For example, go to Google and search trucks (image) the first truck picture would be two trucks sculpture forming an “S”, the picture, click on it, you will see that the picture is 64k, now in the bottom right it would say “View full size”, click on it, now you got only the picture, on the menu tab click “resize image”, now you will see that the image stays the same but with more white around the picture.
Now, here is one that it will bit you but, if I sync my phone to the computer and do the same procedures, the picture will grow larger to its full size. If I use a Wi-Fi connection to access the internet this also happens (Get the full size in the picture).
I have done a soft reboot and a hard reboot, check my User Agent that came default on my phone, changed it to a HTC-8900 User Agent from the HTC-TyT II setting by way if the “Kaiser Tweak”, called AT&T for help (They got ?????).
I am running on my cell phone OS 5.2.19214 (Build 19214.1.0.4)
Please HELP!!!
