Installed Skype, now GPS not working - confused - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

I know this has been dealt with in a few places, but I am not clear on something. If you have installed Skype, discovered that it affects the GPS on here to your horror, then removed it, is there a way of restoring the files affected by Skype without a hard reset?

anyone know what I should do?

Force close and network errors

Hello,
I have recently begun to experience a major problem with my G1 running the latest builds of Cyanogenmod (currently 4.2.11 but I have had the problem with the last few versions). What happens is that for some reason some apps force close right when I attempt to start them (Google Voice, or any app that has a camera running when it opens) and other apps can not connect to the internet. When I open apps like Pandora or Wapedia it says "A network error occured" or "Could not connect to the servers."
The weirdest part is that not all apps are affected. I can still access the internet through the default browser, and the gmail app. Also the default camera and camcorder apps do not force close and work perfectly. In addition these problems do not arrise for some time after a reinstall.
I have wiped and reinstalled different versions and even started over flashing an HTC update and then returning to a cyanogenmod version. I have wiped all the partitions on my SD card for apps2SD and recreated them. However due to the nature of the problem I have guessed it is some problem with Apps2SD but I cant figure out what it is. I have run the fix_permissions script, and attempted to remove/rebuild the market/app cache.
If anyone knows anything about how to fix this or has experience this before themselves any help would be really awesome. If any more information is needed to help diagnose this problem I will gladly post it.
Thanks again and sorry for the wall of text.
Sorry for self-bumping my post but I would really like some help because I have done everything I know of to fix the problem and looked around the internet for help but I haven't found anything similar to my problem.
Thanks
Im having this problem too and i have no idea what to do about it lol

com.android.phone keeps crashing ...

Hi!
Posted this before in another phones forum. Probably here more sensible:
I am having problems with the above application. My Acer Liquid E (I'd opt for an extra forum for this phone ...) keeps crashing. It is reproduceable: when I log on the network the first call I receive is without problem, when I receive the second call com.android.phone crashes and the network is dropped (input SIM key). Then I can again receive one call without problem.
My phone is rooted (z4root) and I use Titanium Backup. I can solve the problem by resetting to factory settings. But it keeps coming again after a couple of days. Of course I would like to know what causes this but at first I would be very happy to know how to get rid of the problem when it is there ... Titanium is not so helpful:
When I restore the Titanium backups:
-I first restored my user applications plus settings without problems, after this everything still works
-Then I restored some of the green marked backups in Titanium Backup. After this the phone starts to have this problem again.
Does anybody know which backup this might be? I mean: solving the problem itsself would be great but at first it would be nice to be able to get the phone working quicker than factory reset. Maybe this could be achieved by resetting to an old backup with Titanium Backup (just need to know which one ...)
Help would be appreciated! Been browsing the net a long time and could find lots of ideas how to solve this but none worked so far.
My system settings:
-Acer Liquid E
-FroYo from the start (updated from .8 to .14 when I first had the problem)
-removed some apps from the rom - but nothing essential and I know that non-essential sounding things like maps or talk are actually essential. I removed things like twitter, roadsync, etc.

[Q] network location problem

Hi,
I have a rooted ATT note 3 running 4.3. Everything has been working fine for months. Beginning yesterday my note 3 has been unable to access wireless network location data. GPS works fine for google maps, tasker, etc. When I try to use net location, however, (eg tasker, androsensor, weather, etc.) I am asked to enable location services which are already enabled.
I worry that I may have deleted an important file or program using clean master or ES File.
Any suggestions as to how I should proceed? I would obviously prefer not to reset, reroot, and reinstall! :crying:
Thanks,
Sean
I had same problem, turns out I had frozen something called "fused location" unfreezing it fixed the issue. Hope this helps you or someone else

Hi,
Turning off the weather app and uninstalling apps that require location seems to help somewhat if you have early GPS issues. But it seems like the longer the location apps are active, the longer GPS chip is active trying to do computation for both maps andlocation applications it increase the likely hood of overheating the GPS chip and damaging itself. My note 1 had that exact problem, i didn't know about the locations apps and 1 year later the GPS quit working permenently. Now having similar issues with Note 3, but turning off location apps does help a lot.

Whatsapp connection issues

Hi, I wonder if anybody can help me. Up until the day before yesterday I was using whatsapp fine over wifi (where I am at the moment there is no mobile signal) on my O2 UK Z1 and then whatsapp lost all connection. Everything else on the phone was working fine but no whatsapp. Every message I sent would go to the clock, no information when people were last online and the faq etc. in the settings would not load because of lack of connection.
I uninstalled the app and then installed it again and all was fine, after sending a few messages the same error occurred again. I have now found that if I clear data in the app settings it will connect again, once I have reconfigured the app and restored from backup. I can only assume that there is some sort of buffer which I am clearing as I lose a few messages when I clear data (all since last backup).
Barring doing a delete of all backups and messages does anyone have any other idea. I have looked and the backup files are about 1.7mb so not massive and I have a fair bit of storage available onboard (>7gb).
I was talking to someone with a HTC phone who had suffered similar symptoms but I have googled and searched and can't find a solution.
Any help much appreciated.
Mark
2 weeks off work and no issues, as soon as I have returned the issue has reared it's head so looks like it's something to do with the wifi here. Everything else works fine and fast so I guess I'll just have to live with it

Try to factory reset or reinstall mobile data settings

A factory reset for a cheap Whazz, huge work buddy...lol... at last it's an idea but I will try reinstall mobile settings before that or uninstall and reinstall Whatsup.
I work in a very remote location, I have wifi (which is distributed from a satellite feed) out here and for my mobile phone that is the only connection option. When I am away from work whatsapp always works, both over wifi and cellular data. At work I keep my phone in aeroplane mode with wifi turned on to try and preserve some battery (there is no point in my phone constantly looking for a non existent cellular signal).
This morning I deleted all messages in whatsapp, uninstalled the app and re-installed/configured. Usually I get a failure within 24 hours of doing this so we'll see whether this rectifies the issue.
I know I'm not the only person out here that has had the issue so it is either a coincidence or something with the way the wifi is configured here. I just assumed that the wifi would either work or not but, I am not an expert.

Can't see wifi networks?

Hey guys,
I just noticed this issue about a month or 2 ago and was wondering if anyone could help me. For some reason my gsm DE moto x stopped showing available wireless networks. Its weird because it can see and connect to the wifi networks that are already saved ( my house, work, etc) but it won't show any other networks that are available in the area. I didn't notice until I was trying to connect to a new network (like at the airport) and couldnt see anything, when I knew there were a bunch of networks available.
I've tried rebooting, switching between 2.5ghz/5ghz/auto, clearing dalvik and cache and i still have the same issue. I thought maybe module may have been causing it but even disabling xposed didn't fix it. Sometimes I get a notification of open wifi networks available, when I tap it it takes me to the list where I can only see the pre-saved ones. I can't recall if there was something I might have done that could've caused this. But since disabling xposed didn't fix it, I dont know what else it could be. Maybe something i froze? The only things i have frozen are google apps i don't use and some moto stuff. I haven't deleted any system stuff.
I also tried clearing data for some qualcam wfg or something like that, and just reflashed boot and system images, but the issue persists. Actually i think factory reset fixed it, and then when i restored my backup it came back. Only thing left is to re-flash the data partition but I don't want to re-install and configure everything ( although i might as a last resort).
Any ideas?
One more thing I tried was to delete and put in the files in the /persist directory that have to do with wifi from another thread, in case those got messed up somehow. But that didn't help either and now I'm out of ideas..

That is if your persist is corrupted at all.
As to permissions, write down what you have now for folders and files. Then post what files/folders are missing if any. I no longer have an X. Others may help you.
