Hi guys,
I have a Diamond from Orange UK.
As i was looking at the "Device information" I noticed that is showing only
128MB RAM - I was aware this device had 192MB of RAM
Flash Size: 256MB
Internal storage: 382.48MB
So why is the ram 128MB, its just mine or is it a orange thing..
Please comment you ram size Orange or NOT.
I have 1.93.831.1 HK WWE ROM
Radio and protocal from ROM
HardSPL 1.24 by jocky
Security and SIM and CID unlocked.
Could it be the HardSPL or ROM is causeing the RAM sortage.
Thanks for you time..
EDIT: just done a hard reset and still the same 128MB RAM - i will flash it to 1.93 eruo see if that helps, will update post.
EDIT 2: Updated the ROM to 1.93 EU Sitll showed 128MB RAM...
However issue was resolved when i flashed jockys 1.34 HardSPL now shows 192MB.
So anyone using Jockeys 1.24 HardSpl, Check you have the correct amount of ram ( its a real shame because i otherwise liked the 1.24 HSPL)
Anyway please comment on your device:
its not missing,
I got t mobile version
with stock spl its 192mb
HardSPL 1.24 by jocky its 128mb
OliNex hard spl its back to 192mb
just not being reported correctly
but is it only a mistake when is read from device or there is a 128 MB only?
I'm at stock ROM and it shows 192mb for me, tho the Internal storage shows only 3775.05mb but I guess that's pretty normal, it was not totally accurate on my previous phone's SD card.
Yes, should be normally 3.815 MB. Mine only shows 3.768 MB but maybe the rest is for the file system?!
@ stan40: see also this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=402747 that might be an explanation why only 128mb are shown.

I supposedMDA III were all equippend with 128MB RAM and 96MB ROM.
I got an MDA III from T-Mobile, today, with 128MB RAM: I am looking at settings/ device information / hardware
But I cannot see clearly the real size of the ROM.
Thanks for any hints
Saulo866
compare MDA Compact vs MDA III
I explain in details, and I hope someone can clear my doubts...
I have a MDA Compact & a MDA III
1. on MDA III
I see two storage areas:
- storage
- extended ROM
After a hard reset (no programs installed, except I have sync-d all my inbox) the memory applet is saying:
- storage: used 0.01MB free 43.25MB
- extended ROM: used 15.89MB free 0.08MB
The main screen says
Total Memory 125.77 (I guess this is the 128MB RAM)
Anyway (43.25 + 0.08)MB is surely more than 32MB but still MUCH LESS than 96MB.
2. MDA Compact
How do you explain that on my MDA COMPACT, under device information, I see
RAM SIZE: 64MB (correct)
FLASH SIZE: 64MB (correct)
- storage: used 0.45MB free 7.15MB
- extended ROM: used 10.19MB free 8.77MB
on my MDA III I see
RAM SIZE: 128MB (correct)
FLASH SIZE: 32MB (!??!)
Thanks and waiting
Saulo866
To be more detailed, after scrolling I see the following info (Device Information > Hardware):
RAM size: 128MB
Flash Size: 32MB
Flich Chip type: 28F128K3
Storage Size: 43.26MB
Can someone (MDA III owner) confirm that he sees the same data?
Thanks

I have bought a pda2 but there is a problem with flashRom size....In device information------>Hardware the flashRom size is 64Mb.....I don't know how it's possible...thanks for your help.
ps. I have read after the Italian version of imate website and i have uncovered that the Italian version has only 64 mb of rom. how it is possible?
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Are you Iranian?.....
The Alpine has 64MB reserved for the OS, Extended rom, radio stack, splash screen and so on which is updated using a PC.
64MB reserved for Storage which you can use to store data.
128MB split between program memory and memory storage, user adjustable.
What you are describing is the official size of the Storage which as standard shows up as less than 60MB by the time it is formatted.
Hey, I have just had this idea.
We actually have a single ROM, which is segmented in 3 parts: ROM, EXTROM and STORAGE right?
originally we have 43MB for storage, 26MB for EXTROM and the rest (32MB? not sure) for the OS ROM.
originally, a way has been found out to reduce EXTROM to the minimum of 128KB and add it to storage, giving is a 60MB goodness of space.
The thing is, over time compaction can cause slowness, so it's preferred to use a storage card to manage data and keep internal storage empty, as BAs haev not been designed for WM5 (nor vs. nand and stuff, we know about that).
BUT compaction never messes with our IMGFS in the OS ROM right?
What if instead of adding the EXTROM space to torage we added it to OS ROM?
That would give us +16MB (more, since IMGFS is compressed) of OS ROM to play with.
That's an upgrade from a bacon-and-eggs kitchen to a Cordon Bleu Chef kitchen
Maybe even storage could be reduced to add even more OS ROM space...
OK, I have had the idea, what the ones which actually get their fingers greasy (Tuatara, mamaich, Bepe, Midget, Helmi & co.) have to say? Is it possible?
Hi ppl
i have a problem with my unit showing only 0.11mb storage available
under device info->Hardware
rom ver 1.11.00 WWE
radio ver 1.00.00
protocol ver 1337.39
ExtRom Ver (just blank)
i was running extRom Unlock earlier which was really a stupid thing to do
appreciate any help anyone could suggest to fix this
thanks
Have you reflashed your device with the ROM image from your provider or the original Qtek ROM?
But I think you've totally damaged your Storage! Bad but true!
does it mean it's gone....& no other way of recovering it
all i did was running the ExtROM unlocker & unhide
& DOC repartitioning tool
can anyone tell me what is the standard
storage like for XDA 2i
currently i can see tot main memory 121.8 mb
which split into
program memory 50.8mb &
storage memory 71.0mb
then i have storage card (which depend on SD card size)
& storage of 0.1 mb only (which i think should be around 50 ++mb)
thanks
storage fixed
hmm finally i've fixed it...
what actually happen is the DOC partition tool
got me fooled....by default it partition only 128kb of my ROM
that's why i only got 0.11mb storage space
by just guessing the actuall size i've tried from 128 mb & going down
finally i got ~60 mb
thanks for the input.....yeah

What does your Device Information window show?
Go to Start>Settings>Device Information>Hardware
I think Storage memory is only showing you ROM storage available and not the total ROM size.

Yep, mine says RAM size: 128 MB, Flash size: 256 MB - as advertised
Weird, in the Device Information, it said 256MB ROM (Flash) and 128MB RAM.
If the "Memory" only shows the one that is FREE ... why it also display "In use"?
Anyone can explain?

Easy. 128Mb of RAM speaks for itself. Of the 256Mb of flash however, 128Mb contains the operating system, the other 128Mb are available to the end user to install programs and add documents. When flashing any given device, the available flashrom is first filled up with the OS, after which a second amount is allocated to the extended rom area, and finally the rest is made available to the end user.
So rest assured, you DO have 256Mb Flashrom, you're just not going to get all of it

And when the good chefs here develop custom lite ROMs then you will be able to get some of it back.
