How do I downgrade from WM5 back to WM2003SE

Found 2003SE ugly but at least useable. WM5 just runs too slowly for me. Do I just need to follow the 1.42 Rom flash tutorial on the wiki to reflash my existing Rom or are there specific steps that need to be done beforehand?
I changed the EXT Rom to 128K as per instructions for WM5 installation will this affect any reversal process?

Yes, you have to do it 'special' way.
Just tell me why haven't you found this wiki page ?
Follow the process carefully.
There are bunch of people stuck with improperly downgraded devices (no risk though... they simply don't know how to repair it)

Just execute the .exe, if you are lucky you won't get any county or model errors, but I doubt it. If you get errors, you will need to follow the instructions by cdaly1970

If you use winrar you could extract that exe so you don't have to go to the temp dir

re flashing

hi,
i re flashed my phone last week and want to do it again as i have tried all sorts of programs and removed some and i think all of this has slowed my phone down and i have been getting a few problems so what i want to know is can i just re flash or do i have to do HardSPL again before i re flash ?

did you already hardspl? If it was successful its a one time only operation. You should not have to do it again.

i did do the hardSPL but i was getting the white screen and had to do the other method which i forget which why it was but i am running Duttys rom at the moment.

i see that Dutty has a new Rom out now anyway so i might as well give that a try.
i want to use pocket plus and pocket weather on this ROM should that be ok

Enter bootloader mode for me and tell me exactly what it says.
Hold donw the camera button and at the same time insert the stylus in the reset hole until you enter bootloader

You might be on to something. Actually, upon suggestion by one of the mods, I have been updating the Kaiser FAQ and I realized it was quite hard to follow since more than half of it wasnt in Q&A format. I sure could use some help with it. Im about to pull my hair out. I might go on a rampage here shortly though.

Ok Dude here is your solution ive found it myself after Searching
I will not be liable for Bricking your Device you do this at your own Risk*
First of All Is your Phone CID unlocked?
if it is check to see if you can hard reset if your phone says Format is Failed then here is your fix
First flash factory rom
grab a minisd that is blank *Warning it will Overwrite any card you put in*
enter into bootloader
reset+ camera button
in windows xp
Download mtty

Stop ActiveSync, by Task Manager (press Ctrl + Alt + Delete)
kill two processes rapimgr.exe and wcescomm.exe
run program
set port to
\\.\WCEUSBH001
click OK
*Warning it will Overwrite any card you put in*
type in at CMD>
r2sd all
then press enter
after it finishes reset pda and return back into bootloader mode
reset+ camera button
it will ask if you wish to flash from sd press Voice Command button to accept
after 100% complete reset phone you should be able to get back

Your phone is CID locked,Mtty will not work in this situation. Have you tried a Hard Reset.
Does it display any error message while flashing the official Rom,does it complete flashing or stops with a error message ?
Which windows you are flashing with,WinXP or Vista ?

when hard reser it says me a fat format failed. all sw flash without problem.
Anybody know how this is repair? (sorry for wrong english)

You cannot CID unlock in the Bootloaders,it has to have a working OS (Rom),try to flash a rom,try these roms,lets hope one of them might work, Button's Rom 1.05 or xda_minis_launch or wizard_love_rom and official rom of your carrier and if there's any sdcard/mini_sdcard inserted in the phone,take it out before flashing,just keep on trying the different roms,its a catch 22 situation,it won't let the rom flash,stuck at splash screen and still it won't get CID unlocked in Bootloaders or use the Mtty method.I can imagine your frustration,but you gotta keep on trying.

i tried Xda_MiniS_LaunchROM_v154102,wizard love,button and original rom from cingular. and it freez on boot at all roms,and cannot make a hard reset. what i will doing next?

YES ! it is repairable,but not free,you'll have to pay for getting the CID unlock code from 'imei-check' uk.They might charge you around 20 or 30 dollars and provide you with a unlocking code,after that you'll be able to flash any Rom,but,here we were trying to get it working free somehow! Anyway, the choice is yours now,but certainly it is repairable,don't loose hope !

I know a way to avoid paying and manage a security_level=0 to allow "r2sd all"
It's just a matter of flashing a SoftSPL for G3 and use mtty

If i recall correctly while developing SoftSPL for G4, The Equinox also made a G3. Problem is no one ever thought of a use to it (until now, and i have others hehe )

it has in pack 145kb is it alright?
and jumpspl cannot execute and spl.ink too. How this flash?

Well, I do realize your frustration,but this application still needs to be tested and tried first,as far as I know,it has not been applied and tried yet.
But keep your fingers crossed as I'm,hope it comes out successful,it wud solve this problem of not allowing to "r2sd all" using mtty in CID locked device.

hmm, there's a flaw in my theory: It's necessary to access WinCE (WM) to allow Haret to do it's job
Maybe there's a work around i can think of...

HD blocked on 0%

Hello my HD always rest on 0% when I want to flash it !
and always rest on loading... if I want flash with my SD card

Ok i found i have to use sspl 1.07.Olinex, I've downloaded it but I have the same problem to install it always 0% !?

I've read all the info in wiki page, I've try olinex like it's described but I have always the same result
Before I have flash my phone and all was ok but now I can't flash again...

Hi phil,
first, check your PC framework, as do0fusz has suggested.
Second, look at these steps:

read this if unsure how to install Hard-SPL...
1) download Hard-SPL package from attachment, extract to an empty folder.
2) you must Have Phone Synced with PC in Windows Mobile!!!
3) run HardSPLWrapper_Blackstone.exe on PC, make sure it's launched from a local drive (not through network drive, etc.). if you are on vista, launching as Administrator is recommended,
4) follow steps in the RUU, check device for prompts after PC shows loading bar, press Yes on phone if asked. please answer with Yes as fast as you can!
5) some notes: when RUU says it will hard reset, do not worry, it is not going to do that. also when it says the flash will take 10 minutes, ignore that, it will only take a minute or so.
6) device should go to a tricolour screen now that says 1.07.OliNex, the SSPL version, which is temporary.
7) in a bit unusual way, it will take a few seconds for the RUU to detect the device, but do not worry, as soon as the "USB" text on the tricolour screen shows up, RUU will see device.
8) SPL flashes, device automatically reboots, job done.
9) to confirm you got it installed, go into bootloader mode (tricolour screen!) and verify the screen shows 1.14.OliNex, which is the Hard-SPL version.
Note the point 4, expecially this "please answer with Yes as fast as you can!". When I've flashed HSPL I had the same problem like you, but after reading this carefully, all went in the right way.

why don't you help you touch HD a little ?
if you read efferything and understood it properly this won't be a problem.
try copying SSPL-Manual-TouchHD.exe to you phone, execute it.
then try flashing again..

THANK'S I've install framework v3.5 and I can install olinex and now I can flash ! YES
But I don't understand why before I was able to flash on my computer ...

phone stuck at Rogers welcome screen

hi
i flashed my htc dream with the new rogers rom update. i then rooted it using the 1-click-method, and confirmed by running "adb root". I then flashed hardspl and now when i reboot i am stuck at the rogers boot-up screen. trying to boot with camera+power, home+power or back+power has no effect. i have to pull the battery to turn it off. also, when plugged in with usb there is no response.
bricked or something else i can do?

if you have no access to spl or recovery then it is indeed a brick.

thanks for your response. i read in your sticky that after spl upgrade it can take up to 15 minutes to boot, so now i am waiting and hoping, somehow it will come back to life (about 5 mins left)
update: 15 minutes gone by and still stuck

it will take up to 15 mins to do a normal boot but not if you hold camera+power. holding camera sends you straight to the spl. If it doesn't do that then there's nothing you can do. Can you provide a link to the spl you downloaded?

yes i think i did, through that 1-click app

hmm I've never used the one-click app nor have I even looked into what it does. David1171 can probably help us there. He should be on in a little bit.

I guess I should mention, we are waiting for david1171 to determine how your phone got bricked so it doesn't happen again. The phone is actually a brick if Home+Power or Camera+Power doesn't work.

ok so it probably cant be fixed then. i will try and return it to Rogers hopefully they will replace it.
that new Rogers rom had a new radio version. im new to android so i guess this is a lesson learned the hard way.

Same thing here.
I think I'm in the same boat as you. Waiting on the Rogers splash screen with nothing happening. Still have access to the home/power command to access recovery mode but can't do much past that. Any help would be appreciated.

i just realised this is known as hard-spl and is not the same as the 2005 spl, so i might have flashed the wrong spl the first time? can anyone conform before I try 2005 from haykuro's thread?

hard spl is not the same as the 2005 spl. you need the haykuro spl.
make sure you read the thread "rogers, heres your real root"
that way you get a better understanding of the phone. it seems as though rogers and the g1 are 2 completely different animals
