Help! Diamond won't power off when USB connected - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hi
I have the setting for the HTC Diamond to power off / turn off after two minutes on both battery and power (in Settings).
These work fine when the Diamond is by itself or plugged into a wall charger, but when plugged into the USB cable to activesync, it doesn't turn off.
Anyone know how to have the Diamond turn off completely after 2 minutes? I was able to do this with my previous I-mate JAM and E-Ten X500+....

Also i have this problem with TP. Have you found any solution?

Tytn II not charging from PC USB

hello
I know it's a very weird problem, but maybe someone have any ideas.
Here are the facts:
1) I can charge my Tytn II from the A/C adapter (amber LED on)
2) I could charge my Tytn II from PC USB (amber LED on) and sync with activesync, but it stopped working... it doesn't charge anymore (amber LED off) and also doesn't sync
2a) I tried to swap USB cables
2b) I tried to swap USB ports
2c) I tried to plug to another computer
2d) none of those worked
thanks
Long Shot Here. But see if you can find this setting. Start -> Settings -> Connections -> USB to PC. Toggle the Option (If it's Off turn it on, if it's on turn it off). Soft Reset.
If that doesn't work May try a Hard Reset But this will delete all you Main Memory Data. But it should leave your SD Card data alone.

that's weird, because the "USB to PC" setting isn't even opening
it just reacted as if it runned in background (it shows it's clicking it, but doesn't open anything)
i'm trying to avoid the hard reset as much as I can, because I just did it 2 weeks ago and now it's the way I like
if you're using wmdc i know under the connection settings theres a place where u can check to charge the phone while using usb or in some other wording..maybe u can take a look there

I found a similar option on Battery setting, but it's correctly checked

After going through the trial of my dead phone, I believe that this is the same culprit that plagued me. I was able to get a new battery, but when I connected it to my computer via USB it would not charge. The funny thing is though, I can charge from my car adapter only! I do have to wiggle the contact to get it just right. My phone connector must not be aligned right. But I'm still having the same problem. Tried different cables and ports. I can not charge from a wall outlet either, just the car.
Any ideas?!
The USB connector got a bit deformed and doesn't make good contact anymore?

That was my guess. Mine had this happen recently so I put a slight bend in the USB cable end so that it would pinch more tightly and now it charges.

How to make tilt not wake up when plugged into power source

hey ya'll, so for the longest time when I would plug the tilt into the wall charger, the screen would NOT turn on (it would not wake up) - however, suddenly, now it does...
I've tried going through all the settings, but I can't seem to figure out how to get it to not wake up when plugged in (wall charger) -- I know it will turn on when plugged into the computer, that's fine -- any help, as always, would be greatly appreciated
thanks!
Well I'm not sure how to stop it from waking when you plug it in, but you can always tell it to go right back into stand-by.
Check out the settings in Start > Settings > System [tab] > Power > Advanced [tab]
You can tell it to "Turn off device if not used for" X amount of time while "On external power".
Not a fix but I hope it helps.
It's a strange thing. I have both a wall charger and a desktop cradle/charger.
When I plug my Tilt into the desktop cradle (without the usb cable connected to the pc), it turns on. But, when I use the wall charger, it doesn't.
This is very consistant. Maybe the pinout is different between the connectors, or the output voltage is different.
It's just something I've gotten used to and can live with.
The Tilt will not wake if you use the wall charger that came with the Tilt. It will wake if you use other types of usb charger

I've noticed that myself and I think it is extremely odd but intelligent.
If your cradle is connected to a PC via USB then it will wake. My Tilt never wakes when I simply plug into the charger, but dropping it into my cradle wakes the PPC and the PC (if it happens to be asleep).
It wakes because there is a sync notification that tells it to on detection of a USB ie. repllog.exe is by default set to run when this key is present "AppRunAtRs232Detect"
Now you can remove this repllog entry, but it means you would have to run repllog manually every time you want to sync.
The following was written for the purpose of replacing repllog entries deleted by mistake. However it will give you some info on what happens when you connect certain Rs232 USB connectors.

I am using the supplied wall charger that came with the phone and the screen powers on when I plug it in. It used to not do this at one point. I believe some thrid party software I installed is causing this. Also the screen with turn on once the charge is complete. Very annoying at night. I don't want to use the on external power settings to blank the screen after x minutes because this messes with using the GPS function while in my car. I want to see the screen while using GPS and plugged into a power source.

It shouldn't, all GPS programs I've tried force backlight on regardless on the system settings while they're running. Which one are you using?
I'm using iGuidance 3.1.
I had to do a hard reset due to an app I installed making my phone go all wonky. After the hard reset and re-installing all my programs I no longer have this problem of the phone waking on external power.
My original Tilt used to do the same thing - screen turned on when plugging into the HTC supplied power cord (even after a H/R with no programs). Eventually, the phone had to be replaced after one day it had a red light after charging a few hours and wouldn't turn on (it had been around 50% when plugged in). My refurbished Tilt mostly does not power on when plugged into the wall charger. Once in a blue moon, it will. It is random enough, I haven't been able to see a common factor as to why.
Any settings to disable wake on USB to computer connection?
A lot of times I plug my Kaiser to PC just to charge it, and I hate to see it connecting every time.
Many thanks!!!

Diamond does not charge

Hi!
I have a strange problem: sometimes when I connect the charger (mains outlet) to the Diamond it does not charge. Sometimes it it also does not indicate that the power is plugged in, other times it indicates charging but the battery level does not increase.
If I go to battery settings, tick then untick the checkbox "Do not charge when USB is..." it suddenly starts to charge but sooner or later the charging stops again.
Soft reset usually helps. Is there any patch for this?
EDIT: I noticed it mostly happens when I use the Diamond as a Bluetooth modem. If I stop the connection it starts to charge. Maybe bluetooth consumes so much power that it cannot get enough from the power adapter?
Honestly, I found I had this exact issue. I was not using any applications though, it was simply a bad charger.
Have you tried to duplicate this with just using a USB cable to PC?
I found out it is due to overheating. I was using the Diamond in my car, plugged into the car charger. However, the device turned itself off and would not charge. It was a hot morning. I put a hat over the phone to prevent the sun from shihing at the phone and directed the air cooler of the car to the phone. After a few minutes it started to charge.
The brand new charger I got with my Diamond was defective, i tried an older usb charger from my TyTN II and its been fine since.

Battery is not charging

Hello, I have a problem with my HTC Kaiser. It is almost 2 years old and also a little bit battered, so I don't think, I have chance to get a warranty repair.
So, my Kaiser stopped recharging it's battery. When I plug AC adapter or USB cable, it is not charging, although USB is working (ActiveSync is synchronizing, internet sharing is working ...).
There are three scenarios: If the phone is ON and I plug in the cable, the display backlight switch into on-external-power mode, but the orange "charging diode" is not lighting.
If I turn off the phone and connect cable, charging diode starts lighting for about 20 seconds and then switch into blinking mode.
But when I quickly press power button, the diode stops blinking and starts permanently lighting, when I wait for a hour and then turn on the phone, the battery is still not charged (not even by a 1%..).
Do you have any ideas, where is the catch? I don't have second battery, so I am not able to test, whether the problem is in battery, or in the cellphone.
Uh, sorry, I forgot some details:
R 1.71.09.01
G 25.75.40.02
D 3.5.ROMeOS
Ehm. Yep. I bought new battery and now it is OK.

Strange charge problem - charges from PC/USB, not wall- or car-charger!?!

I have a strange problem with my x1 (R3A German T-Mobile, SPB MS).
I have connected it to the car-charger AND the headphone to the car-AUX-input at the same time, heard a weird sound, unplugged the power (sound disappeared), everything worked fine.
Then I recognized that the phone does not charge through the wall-charger nor the car charger, but via USB-cable from PC.
When switched off it charges from all sources - booting it up it stops charging exept from PC.
Power is supplied (screen lights up when connecting, but the battery icon stays uncharging), cables are checked.
Any ideas or help?
Thnx
