Saving of class-0 SMS (Flash SMS) - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hello,
I have a TyTN II WM6.1 Mobile Phone. It's a nice phone, but I have one problem with it. The handling of class-0 SMS (= Flash SMS) is not Ok for me.
I my village I'm member of the voluntary fire brigade. If there is a fire alarm or something else we get a Flash SMS.
Now there are 3 problems with several importance.
1) Flash SMS is not been saved: Is there a way that Flash SMS is showed on the Screen and also saved for detailed reading (for example some time later)...
2) The keys are normally locked, but if I get a Flash SMS, it is possible to touch the "Close" Hotkey and the message disappear. That is problematic if I would like to put the mobile phone out of the trouser pocket and touch it unintentionally.
3) Also it would great if I would be able to set for that special Flash SMS a different sound.
I have found that Windows Mobile has generally a problem with that. In our company (http://www.fob-ps.at) we have several mobile phones (not only HTC TyTN II). Some colleagues are also member of their local fire brigade. So the have the same problem....
Hopefully someone is able to help me (us).

No one is able to help?

Bump?
I'm also struggling with this problem
Someone suggested to make a screenshot of sms, but this is kind of silly and not-so-useful...

I have exactly the same problem. Anyone haven`t fixed it yet ?? I`m trying with MassegeInterceptor but it doesn`t intercept class 0 sms.

No, I didn't find a solution until now.
There is only a workaround => disable Flush SMS / class-0 SMS by the sender (of course, if possible).

Same here, I'd be glad to see a solution (even if I'm a Diamond user, but this should be an issue of WM)

Yes, it's a issue of WM (specially on Touch-Screen enabled devices)...
On all WM I found that situation and there are a lot of different devices I was able to test. There were also some newer devices...

This thread looks dead but no harm posting...
Could you guys try changing this setting in registry:
Code:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\SMS
TreatImmediateModeCBAsClass0SMS to 0
This might help

Hello mohitsapru,
Thank you for your answer!
Sorry, but that isn't really a help.
by changing the following registry entry:
mohitsapru said:
Code:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\SMS

all Broadcast SMS would be disabled.
They wouldn't be recognized by the mobile device SMS Manager. Therefore also no saving is possible....
For further information I found also an article on Microsoft Social

Hmm but did you try it?

On my device it didn't help. As already written I get no Flash SMS after giving the value to "0". Maybe there is a problem with other addons?
However at the moment I changed to Windows Mobile 6.5.x (on TyTN II) and there it is possible to save Flash SMS out of the box. The value of the registry setting is there "1" - the same as on all other Windows Mobile 6.x devices...

Kaiser on Softbank in Japan?

Anyone know if this would be possible. I would luv to get this phone. Am using a tytn at the moment on softbank network. Considering purchasing a Kaiser from overseas on next business trip to bring back to Tokyo and give it a whirl.
Thanks,
Theoretically it is possible as the radios and sim cards should be compatible.
However, the Softbank AP for the flat rate data plan has not been cracked. Yet. There are a few people with Treo 750s that are also interested in seeing this password revealed - as well as me. I would like to try the Libra - or perhaps even the Omni or Wings (when and if they debut) if they have the right radios.
If you don't mind paying more for data, then the expensive/slow data connection to Softbank is possible.

Here's the interesting thing. Ordered a Kaiser from UK via DHL (delivered in 3 days!) and today when I stuck in my Softbank SIM, I found that the Kaiser (TytnII) software automatically detected that I was on Softbank and automatically installed the connection settings for Softbank. I am able to surf using that auto configured connection though I cannot confirm this is the connection that uses the flat rate 3G thing. More investigation needed.
There's been tonnes of posts on how people can setup a link using software/hacks/whatever to access the flat rate software package but haven't had enough time to check it out.
At the moment, except a direct HSDPA (as indicated by the icon) internet link, there's no MMS or SMS (!) so I need to figure out why; latter might be because MMS and SMS seems to share the same mailbox now so maybe because I've not setup mms as yet, even SMS won't come in
Boy, why has everything in Japan got to be so complicated...
Auto-configured the connection huh? Cool trick. It should be easy to check.
The access point name of the flat rate connection is open.softbank.ne.jp. I believe the non-flat rate connection is [email protected] (or something like that).
You should be able to check by looking at Settings>Connections>Manage my existing connections, then select edit to view the particulars for the Softbank connection.
As far as SMS/MMS, you hit the nail right on the head. I have had troubles with the integrated SMS/MMS mailbox here in Japan with various ROMs for my Hermes. It might (big might) be possible to overwrite your SMS/MMS software with a previous verson of Arcsoft MMS that has separate mailboxes. That might (again, big might, never tried it before) free up your SMS. If that succeeds, we can get you to try installing MMSlite.
Hi!
I know this is off topic, sorry about that.
But is there a recent 2007 'how to install Japanese support' on a TyTn II?
I have read a lot and some of it is scary !!
Sorry again to jump in on your thread !

Ofiaich - no, no, don't worry about the off-topic post.
And you don't ever need to be scared of modding your phone as long as you have a backup utility. I recommend SPB Backup, but some are fond of Sprite.
The Kaiser is a relatively new device so you are kind of flying blind. However, since both machines run WM6, many of the same packages should be viable. Let's start with the directions found in Make your X01HT a WM6 Device (for Gaijins)
Now time to have your Hermes speak Japanese
Japanese fonts
Use the excellent work from Asukal, that you can find here:
http://www.asukal.jp/WM5/LetsJapanNo5.zip
Japanese input
Not using for myself, but these work perfectly (I tried):
http://www.asukal.jp/WM5/BagojsINPUT.zip
If you prefer a Japanese input without the annoying "Floating bar", ie just the same input way as your original WM5 Softbank ROM, just downlaod and install the "MS IME31 J" link from Asukal's page:
http://hn801.hkes.com/Data/SIP/IME_31J_QVGA_F.zip
Click to collapse
I believe that these files are generic for WM5/6, and that they should work on any QVGA machine. The picture from Asukal's page shows them working on an Alpine, so they are not specific to Hermes.
The following directions however, might be specific to the Hermes, as they are registry settings for the keyboard. The above packages should actually automatically change the two HKCU registry entries below.
To map properly your Softbank Keyboard, do the following registry modifications:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty] "Layout"= 30411 (Hexadecimal base)
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload] "Default"= e0010411
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload\1] "Default"= e0010411

thanks very much larsuck !
I sent you a PM !
I have found some of those pages before! I am an absolute beginner for Windows Mobile so some procedures are a bit daunting !
I hope to get a TyTn II very soon ! Saving up and trading old phones etc!
I will read your links again thoroughly and come back to you!

I purchased Kaiser.
There was environment I displayed Japanese, and to be able to beat against Japanese with Atok.
I tested SB in Kaiser with usable ConnSBM_ORE2h.zip, but Password was not formed.
I think that Password is made if I do not understand that I make ORE2cert.cab for Kaiser, and it is possible for this.
Maro,
So, let me just make sure I understand: you have a Kaiser, and that the Kaiser can read Japanese, and that you can input Japanese using third-party software called ATOK.
That is good news for our friend ofiaich.
Now, I understand you tried to install Softbank's flat rate connection set up using ConnSBM.cab, ORE2cert.cab, Out.xml, and WIFIwake.exe, all four of these files being the ones used for the Hermes. (There is also a package for Universal called ConnSBM_ORE2u.zip.)
And you say that you can make a ORE2cert.cab for Kaiser and if you do that then the password will be made?
If that is so, then that is great! But I have a feeling that you don't need a new ORE2cert.cab. The ORE2cert.cab for the Hermes and the ORE2cert.cab for the Universal seem to be the exact same file.

Ok, bit of progress. Can verify that the auto-configured connection (which works fine) is the non-flat rate connection so would strongly advise folks to be careful in using it.
Installed MMSlite and ended up having constant irritating reports that storage memory is full! No way MMSlite can occupy so much memory! Anyway, ended up having to hard reset. Once reset, this time I installed CE Star to provide japanese font support and then installed MMSlite. Worked a treat. Can confirm I can receive both MMS and SMS but at the moment can only send SMS; MMS is no go as that 'special S!Mail' mail box will not allow phone number as destination. I think the S!Mail MMS mail box is configured as a normal email mail box so is expecting an email address or something. Next is to find how to get access to the flat rate connection so time to dig the archives...
Any other fellow Japanese Kaiser users who can share some experiences?
Thanks Larsuck for the comments and tips....

Well, that's a bummer, but as Softcrank keeps their flat-rate settings top top secret, it was also to be expected.

This is how MMSlite normally works, unfortunately. It can't send to phone numbers (or at least I have never been able to do so). However, build 275 has a function that, when you try to send an MMS to a phone number, it looks up the phone number in your contacts list and gives you a list of 'real' email addresses to choose from. Of course, there have been stability issues reported with build 275.
Question here: did your Kaiser have the joined SMS/MMS inbox? Or were the inboxes separate before you installed MMSlite? I have had trouble with the joined SMS/MMS inbox on some Hermes ROMs on Softbank.

Happy hunting! I (and a slew of other Japanese cell phone otaku) have been looking and digging and decoding and packet-sniffing and begging to try to get our hands on the password. The pre-April 1st connection informaiton is out there, but unfortunately they shut that connection down.

Thanks for the info relating to MMSlite; think I have build 275 so could give it a shot I guess.
My Kaiser did indeed have the joined SMS/MMS box prior to installing MMSlite; post-installation they're still joined. What type of trouble did you have just out of curiosity? I've yet to have any issues.
Bummer, thought there existed some means of generating the password etc etc using some really convoluted means of installation in xda forums? So I take it there currently exists no means of accessing the Softbank flat rate connection outside of using the original Japanese mobile? I thought there was a post that would auto-populate the password field after the convoluted setup?
Yes, there is a convoluted process like that. Unfortunately, it depends on an .exe file called WIFIwake.exe that is device specific. There is an .exe for the Hermes and one for the Universal - none for the Kiaser yet. If you would like to try either of those links, they are
here
If you have the knowhow to delve into an .exe file and make the right changes (I have compared the files and there are only two changes to make it seems), I know you will make more than a few people happy. Needless to say, I don't have any idea how to even start editing programs.
I have been searching, trying to find a work around for a couple of months now. At first, I had been looking for the password itself, but I don't know that it is such a good idea for the password to get out. That's what happened before, and in response Softbank closed down that access point and switched to the current one.
So, now I'm looking for a solution in the form of a .cab or registry hack - one that can be used on a wider range of machines. If and when I succeed, I will post to this form and you can give it a shot.
I tried two ROMs with the SMS/MMS joined mailbox. The first one was Black Satin, and on that ROM the SMS wouldn't send or recieve. I didn't even keep that ROM long enough to check MMSlite. The second ROM was T-Lite by edhass. That ROM had no problems sending and recieving SMS, but when I installed MMSlite it created a separate mailbox called MMS1. So, everytime I would go to send a MMS, it would automatically try to send it using the joined SMS/MMS settings and it wouldn't go through. So, it wasn't that it didn't work, it was just kind of a pain in the ass.
Hi!
ordered the TyTn II and, with luck, it should be with me tomorrow!

Patched WIFIwake from Chaimd
Huzzah! Huzzah!
Chaimd has apparently patched WIFIwake to work for Kaiser!
With this, Kaiser users should now be able to get the flat-rate Softbank connection working.
First, here is the thread where Chaimd first posted this info and the patched WIFIwake: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298031&page=11
Read it first, because there is something about CID-unlocking the Kaiser and memorizing the Pre-unlocked CID. I will alert Chaimd to this thread and hopefully he can answer questions.
Thank you, larsuck. I'll try to explain the working WIFIwake.exe on Kaiser, in my terribly poor English.
Now, we can connect to the flat-rate Softbank access point, to patch and sign WIFIwake.exe.
That WIFIwake works copmpletely on my Kaiser. But that method depends on;
Pre-Unlock CID must be known!
CID unlocked, I used Pof's Hard-SPL.
Patching WIFIWake.exe;
01C760h "KAIS1300KAIS1300", 16 chars in UTF-16.
01C784h Pre-Unlock CID, 8 chars in UTF-16.
01C798h Pre-Unlock CID, 8 chars in UTF-16.
Self-Signing WIFIwake.exe
To Install not only connSBM.cab, Out.xml ans WIFIwake.exe,
but also your Self-Signing CAB file.
If you understand Japanese, you can get some informations of Kaiser & WIFIwake in this blog;
http://d.hatena.ne.jp/chai99/20071008
Now if you don't mind me asking, how do you use a non-japanese sim based phone on softbank with a data contract (not technically) but actually like go about it? As i go back and forth between japan frequently and in ~6 months will be moving there again for a year or two. Last time i lived there, I never had a mobile. Times change and now i need one for sure while there. I'd love to use a Kaiser that I have on hold at AT&T (can get it completely unlocked...). I thought they don't give SIM cards on there pre-paid phones...
@Philz,
If you get a cheap phone from softbank with a voice plan, you can use the sim card from that in your Kaiser. If your Kaiser is unlocked, the sim card should allow text and voice without messing with any settings. There is also a .cab program called Carrier Settings Wizard (or some such) that is floating around in the Hermes threads. It might be able to set up the (non-flat-rate) data settings for Softbank.
If you are a heavy data user and want a flat-rate data plan then, after signing up for one, you would need to apply the treatment that we are discussing here. However, from what chaimd says it doesn't sound easy.
Unfortunately, contracts from Softbank are usually for two years - not ideal for someone who is always traveling back and forth. Depending on how long you are in Japan, it might be cheaper just to roam here until you make the move.
@chaimd,
You said you used Pof's tool. Is your Kaiser Super-CID? It seems strange that the CID must be known if the device is Super-CID.
Also, you said:
"5. To Install not only connSBM.cab, Out.xml ans WIFIwake.exe,
but also your Self-Signing CAB file. "
What is this Self-Signing CAB file? Do you mean the patched WIFIwake?
Or perhaps ORE2Cert?
Will the ORE2Cert from the Hermes package work with the Kaiser?
Hi, larsuck! I'm writing on Kiser through the flat-rate Softbank connection, now.
First: Is my Kaiser Super-CID?
Yes, my Kaiser is Super-CID. First, I checked "info 2" command, after the installation of pof's Hard-SPL. As WIFIwake works on my unlocked Treo750, and I jumped and thought "Yes! Super-CID! WIFIwake will work without patches!", ..... but it does'nt generate the password in real. Indeed, it is strange. I was confused.
We tried many many patterns of patching WIFIwake, but WIFIwake did'nt generate the pass, and we spent a few days. Finally, one of us found the right way! and we've got to the flat-rate Softbank connection. We found pre-unlocked CID was known to work WIFIwake on Hard-SPL Kaiser. I don't know why?
2nd: What is self-siging cab file?
The itamae's WIFIwake has already been signed by him to work without a ROM cooking. ORE2Cert, ore-ore-certification means self-sign certification in Japanese, is his signature to allow execute a previllaged code for WindowsMobile devices. But, if you patch the WIFIwake, WindowsMobile rejects it as a illeagal modified code. Then, you must re-sign WIFIwake, and install yor own Self-Sign-Cert.cab with your WIFIwake. You need to make your own Self-Sign-Cert CAB file. ORE2Cert.cab from the Hermes package does'nt work on Kaiser.
I described how to make Self-Sign files without VisualStudio in my blog. It's almost the minimum procedure of self-siging, but it's in Japanese.

WM SMS Client for VOIPBuster!

Hi all
I've created an application with which you can send SMS using the VOIP Provider VOIPBuster.com!
They offer free SMS sending for lots of countries!
It's the first beta.
You can download it here:
www.ruttensoft.com/files/WMSMSClientVOIPBuster.zip
It has no CAB yet, so just copy the exe-file to your device and start it.
Then go to Settings and enter:
Username (VOIPBuster Username)
Password (VOIPBuster password)
Phone Numbe (Registered with VOIPBuster)
Your contries Dial Code (e.g. +41 for switzerland)
The application will load all your contacts from your mobile database!
After setting the settings, chose a contact and write a message (maximum of 159 letters) and click on send (make sure you have internet coverage)
NOTE: For an unknown reason, Sometimes VOIPBuster gives back an error message, even though the message was sent!
Currently it is made for Smartphone Devices and I've implemented Portrait and Square support (e.g. s730)
Post your comments here!
Thanks
Sven

wohoooooo thanks so much for realizing my request. i will try it soon
EDIT:
i was trying to send an SMS while my phone was connected to my computer using the USB cable. it didnt work!!! but now i disconnected the cable and sent the SMS via GPRS/3G. the sms arrived!!!! and it works
HOWEVER;
after SENDING the SMS i also get the error message that the message was not sent or something.
hope you can fix that problem soon, as it is important to know whether the SMS arrives or not..
thanks a lot for your effort!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually if there is only a simple error, it has always been sent on my device. If there is really a problem, you will get an exact error message (no balance, number false....)
I dont know why this is, I get that "Error" back from the VOIP Server so I cant fix it I'm afraid.
But yeah... I have never gotten this error and it was not sent... so you can test it a bit and if has always been sent while this simple error appears, I will deactivate it...
For USB: It's working here... Does your internet connection work while beeing connect on usb?
yes internet available while on USB. but it doesnt matter really.. at least it works though 3G etc.
you might want to disable the error message... its very annoying and loads for ages before it comes.
the GSM VOIPBUSTER Client shows THE SAME error... thats remarkable. implies the error is from the voipbuster server.
Ok I will disable it
awesome, thanks!
hey wat kind of connection does it use to send the sms, dont have a data plan so will simple wifi connection due? dont want to get a bill of charges afterwards . thanks again we all needed something like this. should port this to the smartphone general forum as it'll help everyone . good job
i'm getting an unexpected error when i enter settings, happening to anyone else?
makaveli86, do you have the Wings?
When do you get the error, by clicking on "save"?
It takes the same connection as the Internet Explorer would do.
So if connected to WLAN it should take WLAN...
If the device you've sent the SMS to is not "on", so could not directly get the SMS (but will later if it is turned on), the VOIPBuster server is also giving back the "Error"
SO I will just deactivate that... If there is really an error, it will show the correct error
oh you created it specifically for the wings? thought it was a smartphone app in general, i have the vox was hoping it would work on any smartphone...is there anyway you could find a way to do that because i know a lot of people who were looking forward to this.
Of course... it should also run on all other devices.
But I had no time yet to test it on other devices, mainly on pocketpc I will have to test some more
ohh ok..well i'm having troubles getting into the settings menu (currently running it on a s710 htc vox) so maybe if someone else that has the vox as well can confirm this for me? or if you dumdium get the chance to run some tests and see wahts up? i'll be glad to help if you need it
anything???
i had some problems too at first
then restarted and then it was ok
it kept saying the login details were wrong or something. now it works
restartd

bagatov, you using the s730? how responsive do you find that phone? are you satisfied of its performance?
hey
i use s730 and i love it. but the ram could be bigger. sometimes when i read RSS news with spb insight, listen to music with TCPMP and surf the web with OPERA stuff gets closed due to lack of ram. thats very stupid. but im sure an update will fix it. it also could be faster, but i hope htc will release the drivers to unleash the full potential of the 400 mhz

caller ID ??? wtf??

So I loaded a new rom (energyrom3.0) running WM 6.5.
and when i did my restore for all my contacts etc using pimbackup, i see my contacts list just fine. but when someone calls, i just see their number no name or anything!!
i restored again and still no caller id....
I did a search and im not finding any info on this.
can someone tell me what Im doing wrong??
(htc fuze running energy rom 3.0)
it sucks not knowing whos calling or texting me, now I have gotten into the habit of not answering my phone because of this issue...
I cant memorize all my contacts !
Thanks for any help
anyone seen this?
its probably some setting that I have not seen...
yep - im getting the same problem and raised a
separate thread - lots of views but no replies
i think its a wm6.5 issue.
im on energy rom - which is superb so far - but the callerid and sms id is causing me problems so i may have to revert to an older rom
I can't say that I've experienced this. (Running RRE's rom though) Have you tried install slide to unlock just for the full screen caller id that it has? (you can disable the actual locking part if you dont want it). Also, what dialer are you using?
I used active sync and outlook for my syncing and backing up my contacts and it all worked fine with nrg 3.0.
yea i have a buddy that uses outlook sync to restore.
how do i use that?
im using the stock dialer.
try s2u2 you say?
i ahve had it in the past, i will install that and see how it works. just so many dam options when setting it up. can be a bit time consuming...
thanks for the replies peeps
where are your contact pictures located? In the past, if you stored them on the Storage Card, then it could also cause a delay/issue. Just a thought for something to try.
yep - i also used pimbackup - and energy 3.0 - and im having the same problem.
wonder if its to do with the backup/restore rather than syncing

I think you should just memorize all of your names and numbers. Think how much more that would impress your friends than a fancy phone...
Try ActiveSync on the PC. If you are on Vista, you will need Windows Mobile Device Center, which unbeleivably does not auto-install with a new OS image. You can find it on Microsoft website for free, the same for ActiveSync if you are on XP. However, to use Activesync, you really need Outlook to get much value out of it. The huge upside is that if you use Outlook and ActiveSync, you will have a copy of all your contacts in 2 different physical locations.

it could very well be...
is this happening to anyone else??
i have fixed this - somehow ?!
removed icontact - and deleted the icontact 'contacts file'
did a new PIM backup - hard reset
when i looked at the texts they still had numbers not names, however i spotted that i had over 500 texts !!! cleared the lot of them out and everything working fine. callerID and text recognition perfect ....
Whether it was PIM backup, icontact or sheer volume of texts i dont know but what I can say is that its NOT the ROM.
im a happy bunny now
I am having the same problem, curently running At0mAng V5.1 WWE with WM 6.1. I did use PIM backup to restore, but to try to fix this problem I erased all of my contacts and restored them with Activesync. No luck, I suppose I should try a hard reset.

Yes really,.... If you hit the pwr button to off then back on, the callerID will be displayed. It's like a refresh of the lock screen. As for Energy Rom, I've been using Da_G's kitchen to cook since 21169 till 21222 and CallerID hasn't worked on the lock screen unless I do the pwr button trick.
I however have been using Exchange 2007 to sync my contacts in all versions though. Maybe it's something with that? I don't know...hopefully it will get resolved though.
Same prob here, I can tell u how to fix it..
Ive had the exact same problem with my stock Fuze. I checked HTC and even called them. Tried for nearly 3 hours on ATT talking with tech support. Yet these ppl only know whats written in their books. We, the ones that actually tweak and figure out the "bugs" in certain systems r the ones that know the answers. Thats why I love this site! .... sorry, got carried away. ... OK, ur most likely using the Advanced Config 3.3, if so, thats where the problem lies. If u go down to the "Phone" tweak inside of Advanced Config and set the "purge SIM contact when no SIM" Set this to YES. Now it DOES NOT delete the contacts as it says it should when u remove the SIM card and reboot. Instead it cuts off the NAME of ur caller ID yet still shows the number. Ive done about 12 master resets tryin to find the exact reason I kept losin my Caller ID name. This IS why. Though I have a different ROM, this just may be a bug that affects the entire system of any fone. Now my Caller ID works fine. When I install Advanced Config 3.3 and tweak it, the only things I change under the "Phone" catagory are Clean Period, cuz I like having all my calls in the dialer, and number of ID matches. Also when u install HD Tweak or Diamond Tweak do not set the ring to "Instant Ring". This will also cut the name of the Caller off. Yet u can change the "Ring Delay" to WITHOUT DELAY. This will solve the delay problem as well as the Caller ID disappearing act. I actually found that under another thread here. Both tweaks r set and my Caller ID has yet to cut off again. I may be wrong, yet it never hurts to try right? Good luck, hope this helps!
hi there,
also in advanced config is an option to use x digits as id.
i had the issue of it not recognnising contacts between 0 numbers and +44 numbers.
so i set this valuie to 10 digits then it doesnt matter about the zero or +44.
worth a shot.

Mine was set to Yes by default, should I set it to no? How about show Sim contacts in contacts? Very interesting though...
The only thing I save with PIM backup are my phone calls and messages. Therefore, I rely on Outlook to sync the remaining data such as contacts and appointments and I never have issues with any rom from any device using this method.

Text message always says 1 message!

Hi all,
I have the HTC Pure. I got a few text messages at once and my phone slowed waaay down. I deleted the 3 messages that I had, however all but one of them were marked as read.
I called AT&T who in turn called HTC and said that this is a known issue but they have no fix in place and not planned.
So now, my phone always says I have one new text message, and I went and "cleaned" all of my messages; sent, draft, inbox, and deleted.
Does anyone know of a fix or a registry key that I can edit so that I don't have to do a hard reset?
Thanks!
I think it is just a problem from your current ROM .
Like such question , I will suggest you to flash a new ROM or install a new SMS APP.
it is easy to fix the problem after you change ROM
I've been having the same problem, and we are not alone...see thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=584623
I know I can cure the problem by re-flasing the ROM, but I was hoping for a less painful solution......plus there is no guarantee the problem won't happen again.
I have had this with emails before. Here is a program which fixed that. I'm not sure if it will work with SMS, but you can try....
Looks like a DB corrupt... The count is in the registry but also in the DB...
If you have a DB browser you can try to find the entry and change it....
Or you may also delete the DB, Windows will recreate a new one for you...

Nope, that's not the solution. And what kind of new SMS APP do you suggest?
Instead, try to hard reset the phone (Settings > System > Clear Storage), but back up the data (phone numbers etc) wih PIM Backup or alike into a microSD storage card.

Thanks for the suggestion. May I ask wha the "DB" is? I am somewhat familiar with the registry and I use Total Commander to edit it if need be.
I think it is in the registry as well; one value I would think. If not, do you think reinstalling the MMS software would work?
there use to be a hot fix for this on htc.com but it was for 6.1
not sure if they still have it up
well i had that problem in the past, it seems i had deleted an unread sms in the "deleted items" folder. After i deleted that one...i didn't have an unread notification...
other than that, i can't think of any solution
Had the same thing. As was suggested do a backup of all your personal data and then hard reset. No ROMS to play with no software to install (except any you already have) clean easy and cheap.

I know this is a problem with WM 6.5 and not Manilla/TouchFlo 3D. I was thinking that maybe if I can find the cab that runs when you do a hard reset if that will reset it and just install the standard stuff on top of what is there already.
On WM 5 it was easy to find that CAB file in the Windows folder but on 6.5 I can't seem to find it...
I've had the same issue a couple of times. I use FixUnreadCount...

Thanks a lot M1m3R!
I Ran FixUnreadCount, and it worked a treat! Did a soft reset and the counter disapeared.
Thanks again!
I met the problem too, and I reset to the default configration, then restore the contact list and reinstall programmes
hello i got the same pb on my sfr 6.5 today on text message :
to supress it i have tries the fixunreadcount then soft reset but no résult
then i have wrote a mail to my mobile phone mail account ; recive it then read it and tadaaa the unread notification on sms have disaper
Fixed too
Hi, I had this problem once before (last year) and ended up having to do a hard reset.
Got problem again the other day and really wanted to avoid another HR so did some digging. This utility worked a treat.
Ran it, counter still said 1 unread message; turned off and re-started, counter unchanged; happened to receive a call almost immediately so let it go to voicemail, checked voicemail and when I'd finished the notification had gone!
From what the previous post mentioned about sending self an e-mail, I guess it had something to do with the notification system receiving a prompt?
Anyway, sorted and v.happy!

Weird Text Msg Display

The device in question is the i-mate Pocket PC. The problem, which quite bothers me is how it displays the received text messages. The "enter" key in texts is omitted and the texts are shown together instead. For eg.
A text sent from any phone:
"Hey
when's
the meeting?"
will be displayed on my phone like:
"Heywhen'sthe meeting?"
The line break gets omitted. Is there any solution ? Its pretty bugging actually.
That looks like a *very* strange error, I've never seen it on my Alpine though (O2UK-branded HERM300).
What firmware are you using on the device? Are you using a custom font for display with extended characters for another language? Is your device set up as OEM or from a network provider?
It's Windows Mobile 2003. The ROM is dated 2004.
I am NOT using any custom font or ANY OTHER tweak here. It's just normal sms, without any changes.
Device set up as OEM.
Anything else you might need.. ?
Somebody help please!
