Slow GPS - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hello everybody,
on my diamond the GPS performance was very poor. The time to first fix was about 8-10 minuites but that was not the worst thing, I also had always GPS positioning LAGs. It was very bad.
I tried everything, different ROMs, Radios, Tweaks, Workarounds, Navigation Softwares.........
Nothing helped me. I was very frustrated.
After all this I found the solution that solved all my GPS problems.
I tested the HTC tool:Nadavi_HTC_GPS_TOOL.cab
With this tool you can do 4 types of reset on your integrated GPS modul.
I tried all.
It seems to me that the one that fixes the problem is: Clear memory
1: You have to go to a location with a good GPS signal. Than start Clear
Memory in the Settings TAB.
2:After that look at the Information TAB: At GNSS DOP and Active
Sattellites, if get an update at Mode 2 you are done.
After this procedure all my problems are solved.
I have now a time to first fix about 30sec.
No GPS LAGs, the positioning is now very exact.
So if anybody have the same problems , try the HTC GPS Tool.

Hi, many thanks for the Tool, this is exactly what I´m looking for, but I do exactly the same as you describe, but by me there stands "Mode2: fix not available". Can you help me?
I do it like this, at first I choose the "clear Memory" option in the TAB setting, than I click on OPEN, now the log window shows many information, after it I go to the tab Information, and there stands "mode 2: fix not available"
Greeting ZJay

Should I use this HTC GPS Tool only for one time or everytime when I want to use the navigation software?

When you have updated your GPS it works without lags.
I have done the GPS update only one time.
I tried the HTC GPS Tool today on a Diamond Pro.
After the reset/clear memory procedure, all GPS LAGs are gone on the Diamond pro and time to first fix is reduced to 30sec.
I think it works on the Diamond Pro the same way as on the Diamond.

Sorry for the question, but I understand the procedure like the following:
1. go to the Setting, and click on the "CLEAR MEMORY" choice
2. than I click on OPEN
3. than the log windows shows a lot of data
4. I go to the information window
5. the window show MODE 2: 3D
Is it right? Or should I do another thing, which I have forgot? Thanks for your help.

I also made Hot Start, Warm start, Cold start, but I am not sure if this is really necessary.
I think the most important think is that you get the Update.
You can check this in the Information Tab.
Please let me know if it solved the GPS problems at your Phone.

Anybody tried "Nav. Init" button ?
On the same screen.

OK, I check it today afternoon on my way to home, than I can report to you. In the german forum ppcfreaks.de a member wrote that it can be also a problem of a ROM, a good ROM for the navigation should be the ROM from bepe, can you agree with it, I use the A.Z.T.O.R. V6 ROM GER. Or should it be problem of the RADIO. But I check it in a few hours, thanks for your help.

I push it, but I didn´t know what it does? Perhaps it seems to be a new initialisation....

I don´t think that changing the ROM help you a lot.
I tested 10 ROMs and I had the slow GPS performance at all ROMs.
Many folks say that you get better performance with your GPS with other ROMs, but on my Diamond it doesn´t helped me at all
to change the ROM. Same poor performance with alle ROMs.
I was so happy as I found the HTC GPS Tool. Itried the Tool
on 3 Diamonds and it solved the GPS issue at all 3 devices.

gps fix quickier with q-gps?

Hi Friends!
At the beginning, sorry for my bad english!
From the advent of wm6.1 I've found many problems (using quickgps) to fix satellites .
Yesterday I've tried to use this little program http://www.avaricum.net/qgps.cab.
You know it?
Now the fix is much more better (like wm6.0)
Can you try it and post your suggestions?
Will give it a try

Garmin GPS

After i install the Garmin GPS, device cannot search the satelite? it is my device or ROM cause this problem? Because it work before i flash the new ROM.
And one problem is my internet explorer can display the websites toolbar but cannot click or select it? Do i need to update any other ROM or Component?
which ROM?
5.07.707.2 WWE
This ROM is from Official HTC Websites.
you might want to START READING HERE if you havent yet.
thanks bro
i m using Garmin GPS as well, and it just work fine for me after i flashed the roms, at first after i flashed it, same problem occur, but after when i checked and look into detail, actually it's working, just the signal strength icon in the Garmin GPS isn't increasing and always remains in the red signal, maybe you can check out with it first after updating ur QuickGPS and try it at the outdoor... hope this helps...
Just want to share my Garmin in HTC TP. Having trouble to begin with after upgrade my device from TyTN II
Use the radio 1.12.25.19
Open the Garmin and change the Remote GPS to GPS Intermediate Driver. This solved the missing signal bars on the main screen problem.
On the main screen just click the signal bars - then click the "Disable" button
Click the "GPS Intermediate Driver" and then click "Enable" button.
Enable Advance GPS
Hope helps - just my 2 cents
radio after rom
i dont know if this pertains to you, but your talking about flashing a rom and gps not working afterward, so it might. Every time i flash a new rom my gps stops working. As soon as i reflash the same radio i already had, everything kicks back in and works just fine. I dont know if it actually helps to reflash the radio every time you flash a rom but it seems to help.

After flashing radio you should check whether in Settings/System/External GPS/Access is checked "Manage GPS automatically". If not, check it.
There's a hotfix for this in HTC Website.

Gps Problem

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, after flashing like 150 roms so far, today i had this mysterious problem.
After flashing NRG's 6.5 ( with the new manilla rom ), i flashed into his new one, the 06/20, and then i flashed to duttys 3.9.
Now my gps simply wont work, i mean all the programs find it, but i get no signal whatsoever, not even one single satellite. What do you guys recommend to do ?
I will flash a stock rom now and see if that fixes anything.
PS : Flashing stock rom didnt do nothing.
Please someone help
GPS Problem
Hi
Try Start, settings, connections, connections, advanced, Select networks and set correct values in both dialogues!
What applicatons are you using for GPS?
I dont think the connection settings are completely relevant but make sure not in flight mode and that if you have entered SIM PIN that phone module is functioning, which I guess could be linked back to the operator settings, but GPS should still work regardless.
The stock settings for hardware should not need changing aa far as GPS is concerned.
If the above isn't any help, try hard reseting a few times (take out your storage card first though) as it could be due to some user customisation thing

Have you tried in igo8 goto the GPS settings, untick the box then let igo8 find the GPS by using the option?
Oh and we're assuming you have hardreset after flashing?

Ofc i did hard reset it, more than 2-3 times, and yes i have chosed to find gps automatically. Nothing does the trick, i think the module is broken.
First things first before checking it out with sofware like iGO
Have you tried the 'HTC GPS tool' ?
Remember if you just flashed then you do a complete coldboot of the GPS module.
So go outside and wait up till 10 minutes with the gps tool --> 'open port'
Let us know how that goes!

Not to say that it wont work but I dont use that application and always get a pretty quick fix, 30-60 secs, even inside my house.

Damn that doesnt sound good, Id try everything from, flashing the ROM through RUU mode without SD inserted, reflash SPL and phone module, clean and format SD card. Also copy the iGO8 folder from the working device to the other SD card and run the .exe directly from location, just to be certain. Good luck.
Was a long shot, just checking all bases
It isnt a long shot
Ok now i am facing another problem.
How can i go back to 1.14 stock rom ? I just flashed it and i get the green screen..
PS : Nevermind i will restock the spl and use uspl, wont that do the trick ?
and what did 'HTC GPS tool' report?

if you can provide a .cab for it i will let you know, but i am currently preparing it to take it back to service.
PS : By flashing back to 1.14 and getting the green screen, all i had to do is reflash stock 1.14 spl ( just for knowing ).

give me 5 mins to check it.
I hope the service guys wont give me a hard time fixing it or replacing it or i will be really sad to buy a new one
PS : No gps tool did nothing as well, no fix , not even a single satellite and after pressing the test button, it was resetting it after 5 seconds of testing it.
I am really sure its the module
just take it easy.
Sometimes it is best to let it, meaning yourself, rest a couple of hours to start troubleshooting again.
Wait atleast 10 minutes outside while it starts gathering information and preferably leave the Touch on a device that stands still, so not walking around

Hi,ok let´s see, like you ive had the same problem, just when i was using any gps navigator the phone suddendly stopped and that was sucking me a lot so after that i started to think what could be the problem, and at the end after a lot of time i found where was the problem and what was the solution. To find the solution i decided to hard reset the new rom with which all my gps problems started, and following the instalation steps of all programs and configurations i found the problem and this was related with the quick gps, before using this program to upgrade my gps location my mobile was runing tomtom and others without freezing, but after upgrade the gps location with the quick gps my mobile started to freeze. So this is the problem, just do this try to hard-reset and install eveything but dont, i repeat dont !!use the quick gps or this will freeze your phone again. Following this step your phone will run the gps navigators without the freeze problem
Then men after this try to do this and let me know (PLEAE) if your problem still remain ok? see u and hope you can solve this problem like me.
