Backlight and HTC Home AARRGGHH - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Themes and Apps

Ok.. after getting ticked off with "some application" resetting my backlight timeouts, I've been able to track it down..
for some reason the HTC home applicaion (when enabled on the home screen) will reset the backlight timeouts and set them to values of 8s (on batt) and 120s (on power).
if you change them yourself, it will work fine until you make the phone suspend (tap the power button).. when you unsuspend, the HTC home App will change the values back to 8/120.
AARRRGGHH and of cource HTC's answer was.. we don't support registry changes.. just don't use the HTC home application..
guess it's time to break out the code and build my own pluging for suspending and double restore them after the HTC home app changes them..

flash your rom to ROMeos by Hung Taugh's WM6.1 and you will not have this problem. the other chef rom's stilll had that problem - rottohamers, nottreofan, and a few others.

Quick Link to Password Lock Phone?

Hey guys,
Was wondering if theres a button you can push to activate the password lock instead of having to wait for the timer to go. Thanks!
-Anthony
hold end call for a few seconds(red phone button)
ekw,
as I mentioned in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1780468 holding the end call button just locks the keys, but/and
- "any child who can read" is able to unlock it (unlock & *)
- this way of locking doesn't ask/require a password/PIN to unlock the device
I'm using the standard HTC Rom.. maybe your's is different?
Mine: HTC TyTN II (Dutch)
R: 1.27.12.11
G: 22.45.88.07H
D: 1.56.00.00
Use htc endkey then . Holding red phone button locks mine!!(maybe i changed it a long time ago and forgot )
ekw,
does 'HTC endkey' invokes the 'enter PIN code' screen to appear or just tap 'unlock' and then 'tap here to unlock' on the screen or use '*'?
i can confirm the using "HTC Endkey" to lock the device DOES NOT invoke the pin entry screen when you have the pin/password entry enabled. The only sure fire way around this is to set the pin entry/password "prompt if device is unused for" to 0 minutes; this way whenever the display is automatically OR manually turned off (through power button or device lock (assigned to a key etc)) when the phone is woken it will always ask for the pin to be entered.

I'm "happy" that you can confirm our 'problem'
Fact is.. I've put the screen to turn off after 2 minutes of non-activity, but when I'm for instance at home, the device shouldn't lock itself with a password when the screen is turned off.
So I'm trying to find a way to be able to enable/disable the device lock by for exemple tapping an icon on the today screen or hitting an assigned key.
Briefly said.. see attached screencapture..
instead of opening that screen (settings, lock, <entering the password>) and enable/disable the option.. I want that (!) enabling/disabling to be done by hitting an assigned key which edits a registry settings..
I do think that the option which you'll see in the screencapture is being remembered in the registry.
I'm willing to find the registry key and programming a 'tool' myself which will edit the registry key.. but I must do some searching (programming for xda).

Display always powered on

Hi,
first...excuse me for my very bad english!!!
I have the following problem: after installed some programs the display remain always powered on also after many minutes.
I think that some parameter in the registru have been chanched.
Someone know how can I resolve the problem?
Thanks!
Doc
After watching something in TCMP player I have that issue sometimes. The screen just wont go back to sleep. I fix it by going into the start menu > settings > power options, usually just going in there and back to the home screen will reset it for me. However when I first installed it I had the time out options set pretty high and it did not always power off after installing stuff. I lowerd those and have not had a problem since.
Could be a different problem though, what program did you install? What changes to the phone have you made?
this is a knows bug in the s710 and s730. programs like tomtom and TCMP player change the Display key to a high value and reset it to the previous. Th eproblem is the key doen't exist on there phones.
search for the backlight-bug in the s710 forum.
start menu > settings > power options > ok, then you have reset all parameters
Regards
If the light goes off, but the display stays on, you must lock your keyboard, display goes out after some time that way(like you've set in the "settings" menu).
look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=303778
To solve the problem get a registry editor and do the following:
HKCU / Control Panel / Power => values => LockLevel then you open the values and set "Display" to 30 (30 equals 30 seconds).
domenicostorino:
Thanks. I hope this finally helps.
Unfortunately the display's again on. "Display timeout on battery" and "Display time out on AC" are again (automaticaly) set to 30 seconds and the display doesn't go off.
Thats really weird, without changing anything on mine once I exit the Core or TCPMP player I just load the power options and click done, just going in the menu resets my phone to normal power off functions.
I wonder if in the regestry its not actually locking in the change like the call beep...

Diamond returns to Today Screen on device lock

Hi, the Diamond returns itself to the Today Screen (with the huge clock) every time the device locks itself. I did the registry hack "AutoDeviceLockEnable" to lock itself after it goes to standby (40 sec.). This also happens when LONG pressing the right phone button.
I like to stay in my apps after switching the device off.
I have NO PASSWORD policy on the device (I know there are other articles which claim password policy is the reason)
Is this Windows 6.0/6.1 generic or a "special feature" in co with the TouchFlo interface?
Maybe someone knows a reg-key to turn that off.
Would be a great help!
Yours B.
Untick the today timeout in settings > today.
??? This setting is to return to today screen after 4 hours of usage, that doesn't help!
pushing it up, can't believe no one has an idea!?
Annoying for me too. The other day I was editing some settings, left the phone for 30s so it locked and went to the today screen which messed my TFL3D for a little while.
Anybody have a solution please?
Has this been solved yet.
As I want to put device on lock with the application in use screen still displayed
still nothing?
This is standard WM behaviour, it returns to the Today screen upon locking. In my opinion, your options are (1) use a different lock or (2) use a task manager to easily switch back to the required program.
I don't use TF3D so it's easy for me to select the required program using a simple task manager at the top of the today screen. I use DevState 1.5, configured to show just a row of big task icons. This works really well in combination with SPB Pocket Plus, like so:

Winmo 6.5 Slidescreen

hia!
Is it possible to make the phone lock (move go to the slide-to-unlock screen default on winmo 6.5) when i press the powerbutten (sleep?).
I have yet to find a settings for this. Right now i need to first lock screen (hold the end call button) and then press powerbutton.
Is there a app to make powerbutton do both things at once?
also itnerested ... There is a setting so that phone locks after a period. Would that do the trick? Let me see
edit: don't know, can't find that setting any more. Anyone got an idea?
here is the link for automatically lock the screen
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505032
i do not know if there is an application to make the lock loks like WM6.5
I'm using this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=386451
Very simple application that automatically lock your phone when you press the powerbutton. When you press the powerbutton to wake your phone up, it showed the slide to unlock screen in WinMo 6.5.
I am using point UI 2 pro, and in that version it will auto lock your phone anytime you press power. Works great in winmobile 6.5

keylook problem

hello, is there any why to anable the standart keylook from win mob 6.5 when the device wake up ? when i press the pwoer button the device wake up but the are no look screen using the Touch-IT_Leo_v11_ger but had this problem with all roms ive tested. so is there any way to enable this?
Hi ngt1337,
what is the keykook? Do you mean Keylock or standard WM6.5 Today look?
If you need key lock, just press the end key and keep it pressed until the screen lock. Then, only the power button will work.
If you want normal WM6.5 look, well, flash a plain WM6.5 ROM or disable Manila in Settings --> today.
Hope this is what you were asking for.
i want to use the standart screenlook from winmobile 6.5 but i want it when i press the power button and then device wakes up on the lookscreen when i press the end key button and hold it nothing happens
Which ROM are you currently using? It is strange that the endkey does not work. Search for "lock app" in Application section of X1 forum, there was a program like the one you are asking for (can't remember the name, sorry).
Touch-IT_Leo_v11_ger und auch X1O_LEO_21876_Final_R3A_Hybrid_German at both nothin happen when i press and hold the key... any solutions ?
