Hi All
Had my Diamond for a week and LOVE it! I'm a long time PALM OS user, and this is the first PPC device I've used - so needless to say there's been lots of install and deletons in the last few days trying to get my phone where I like it.
So the question I have .... what programs are out there that are useful (and possibly free) that do a good job of cleaning old registry files, and keeping my memory running fast and efficient??
Thanks and look forward to your replies.

OK, I needed to vent a bit here! I'm expecting a new O2 Atom next week, and then my BA is going to be sold. So I downgraded to 2003SE yesterday (I'm not really sure that the new owner is up for experiments in OS...), and I will run it with that for the next week. The good: It's faster. A lot faster on web surfing. The bad: Just about everything else! :x Cumbersome OS, ugly, idiotic menus (why don't you get the ability to delete an SMS first when you pop up a menu on an excisting SMS - "New" is really not the logical choice - and that's one of a bunch of stupid things!). Not to mention that it's actually less stable, especially on BT! I've had to reset it twice since yesterday when turning on and off BT because of a driver memory message. Basically I would keep WM5, especially with the latest speed improvements over this shxt any day!
Cudos to the experts for working on a great OS for a pretty great unit! Without that I probably would have sold this unit a long time ago!
I have a Tilt, with the newest cooked hyperdragon rom! I love my phone and have loved this forum from day one.
I have put many roms on my phone since I got it about a year ago. I have probably put a total of 20 different roms on there. And now I am starting to think that my phone has had enough.
Since this last rom and the one currently before this one have started acting "tweaky" per say! I know of course the phone does not have a virus, but is acting like a virus would.
FOR EXAMPLE, when I open a new window part of the window before it is is still present like lets say the bottom bar of the home page or the Top bar!
It's also acting very slow at times.
I know that I can do the good ol' hard reset. But at this particular point I don't know if that is going to work because I had done it already and It didn't fix the problem. And unfortanuately I have some things on my phone that I had purchased and have no way of saving. If you have a good idea, maybe a program where I can clean out the phone, or perhaps suggestions on what program etc.. might be causing this! Thank you so much in advance!
Try flashing to one of the HTC or att roms to see what happens.
I know... it's only an experimental roms... but... I tested some and every time there is abug... Camera don't works or some times freeze, or some times no sound... or bluetooth not work properly...
Is there a WM6 rom for Hyma that works with no bugs?
Thx,
M.
u can try WM6.5 build 21189 by Sun Dream..
My best rom
I've try almost all the rom (not yet try sun_dream roms), but I think the best is ather's rom Dark Edition ROM more fast more reliable on GPRS.
That's what I thought...
I'm voting for sundream's ROM. Stable and fast. Only problem I've heard about it is syncing with server but since I don't need to do that this ROM is two thumbs up.
u can try tofclock 6.1...stable n fast..
Go for Efsane's WM6.5 Build 21500

Of cause it is WEE! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=510805
It has no camera function and some little issues, like keylock is not displayed correct.
Well, I think, such a thread is disgusting.
We live in the second century, everyone has got his own opinion and can like, what he wants!
There are guys out there who love men! (Ui, IiH, Ohoh,)
Everyone should make up his mind himself, because it belongs, on what he expects!!
Flashing is as safe and fast as changing your underwear! OK, in most cases it should take a little more time.
With the help of a little app, you can im-/export your personal data, without the risk of loosing one single bit.
Even between three different Windows Mobile!!
Test the rom, find issues and workarounds, find programs to improve it or make it more comfortable.
Incidentally you will be 'learning' a lot 'by doing' this. One of the oldest principals of getting a higher level of skills.
And someday, just by chance, you will make up your mind, because one of the rom 'fits' you.
Even if it is not the newest build. There are people who switched back to WM2k3, because they need STK, the CF-slot of their backpack or the possibility of using their hima to hear music, while the device is placed in a free speaking unit, via the car hifi speaker.
( to ather90: This is a new issue of WM5 and WM6.X Rolf-Dieter found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=510675.
As we found out, it is a problem of drivers, maybe with the with the possibility of a hardware solution.)
The last level you could reach is, when you cook your first running self-made rom, even, if you only changed one registry key for 0 to 1.
Then the hima-universe is yours, because you can change it, and you can make it a better place for everyone.
This is, when you ask yourself: What scared me, as I first flashed my device?
My tipp:
1. Download your original rom, so you can switch back every time you want to.
2. Think of what you want, expect or what sacrifices you can make.
3. Choose one of the new rom, you think, it could be the right one.
4. Collect all the information, You think, You need to flash, without damaging the device.
Ie. read the stickies about flashing and getting more memory.d
5. Start flashing and never, ever stop, till you see Congratulations.
This is almost the only way to change your device to a brick!!
Happy flashing, and god bless you!
PS.:This post is a little bit like a preaching, but this one way to spend confidence to others.
BTW, my dad's a priest. No joke!
muckelmaus is right, these types of posts shouldn't be opened as they nothing but trouble
If you wanna know whats the best ROM? try flashing it yourself or reading the user's replies

Hi,
I am soon to be the happy owner of a MDA Compact V. I have been very impressed with my MDA Compact III that I decided to go for the new version. I will be looking into tuning my phone to achieve the following main goals:
- Increased battery life
- Simplify the phone for push email, phone , text, sat nav use only. I will be aiming on streamlining the phone so that I will have optimal battery life.
If anyone wants to recommend a ROM for this, I would be very grateful, otherwise I will start with the HTC original rom (I don't like the pink T-mobile colours).
I presume that I will have to hard-spl unlock my phone before I can load the original HTC Rom? Is there anything else I have to do?
Cheers,
D
Hard SPL is the first step, then you just need tro find a ROM that suites your needs. Most are fully optimized for performance. There are many chefs to choose from, Dutty, Energy, etc.....
Bruce,
Thanks for your help.
I have gone through the beginners guides by drag-on which have cleared things up for me.
I will have to do some forum searching and find a rom that is aimed at battery life (I am willing to sacrifice performance - as it will already be soo much faster than my Compact III...).
The other question I had was, once I SIM unlock my phone, will it be the same as the Hard SPL install that it is permanent, and is not affected by installing ROM's?
Cheers guys,
D
Thanks for taking the time to read.
Yes, SIM unlocking and HSPL need only be done once and are not affected by flashing ROMs.
You have to flash SSPL back to your device for warrranty exchanges.
Excellent.
Sounds like I'll be making a painless start.
Doing homework helps!
I am impressed with this site / forum, there is some serious passion here, which I am happy to see.
Now I just have to decide whether my gamble was right and that I reckon the MDA version really does look good in black... Pitty about the T-mobile logo on the case and the plug over the mini usb port. I am also waiting for the day HTC puts a normal headphone jack on the pone.
I am also considering giving my good old MDA Compact III a fresh battery and a new ROM. It has done so well with the standard ROM (I got used to it crashing But I want to optimise it for the G/F to have a small sat nav to leave in her purse so she can get home when out and about in the car and got herself lost again... My only niggle with it was that the sat nav localisation was pretty slow at times.
Happy Cooking !

The USB port cover is easily removable and I suggest doing it because it interferes with plugging in a wider USB plug found on some adaptors. Can't be good on the USB pins. I always try to pamper the port because if it goes, your screwed.
Many skins and covers available for these so color customizing is easy. But black is sleek.
Check out the new Bing for a quick little nav program. It now has voice turn by turn directions.
GPS locks are quite fast if you have AGPS enabled and have the latest Quick GPS data.
Happy flashing!
So, I upgraded to a droid when it was released, but I recently repaired the screen on my Tilt and am going to be giving it to my sister.
I just wanted to see what the latest and greatest tweaks for the tilt are?! I wiped it when I first replaced the screen anticipating selling it.
SO...i'd rather NOT flash a new rom or do anything crazy.
I WOULD like a new dialer, youtube and facebook apps, and any other "basic" thing that makes it easier to use with the touch screen. I cant remember everything I had done to it, so its hard for me to track down all the things I had.
(side note: im tech-savvy but my sis isnt. so nothing that might jack it up in the future either...)
THANKS!!
You have the forums ready so you can go, read and find the latest - greatest for yourself
The latest and greatest is WM 6.5, most already have youtube , facebook apps cooked in for optimal performance. Just read through rom development for a 6.5 that has everything you want. For the best and most stable 6.1 rom with great apps, check my/people's signitures ( hint ; hint )
If in fact you do not want to flash your phone.....well then, nothing's new.
I think he ment the iphone 4?
I've had a Tytn2 for many years now except it is having a few issues. Last night I picked up a brand new Tytn2 that has NEVER BEEN USED for calls and only switched on twice! Immaculate condition but ROM date of 2007 ISTR.
So I'll be looking for a decent WM 6.5 ROM that isn't too agressive for me.... So, yeah, WB to you too
