Hi all
I am sure I`m not the only one having bad signal at home...
Does anybody knows a way to build a home made signal booster that have been tested by any of you proving it works?
If so can you share your knowledge plase?
Thanks in advance
I have never thought of this but what a good Idea. I hope someone has already done this and will share with us what they did. I will do some research on the net to see what I can find out as well. I will post back whatever I find if I find anything.
I found this!
http://www.5min.com/Video/How-to-Make-a-Coffee-Can-Cellphone-Booster-2388107
Don´t know if works but seems easy to test
If I can find all the pieces required in my little town I`ll try and post results
If not hope someone elsa can do it!
I will try this once I can gether up all the material's.
Cool mate!
Let´s wait your results
Cheers,
Just a update to let you know that I havn't given up. I can't find some of the parts I need locally, so I will have to wait until I travel south over the Chritmas holidays to look for the plugin for the antenna. I have found some for other phones but they do not fit into mine. They were nice and cheap though so hopefully I will have more luck when I go south.
Be care!!!
I reed on somethread on here that somebody uses a n external anthena provided Professionale pluged to this port for external anthena and his device wont get signal anymore jajaja
itworks for a couple of days... then it never get signal...
why? is easy cause this port isnt the external anthena jajaja is the Test Port for Reception an transfer on the industry...
Believes me I was an operator of this International Corps and i plug the port this but with a server PC thats all!
Dont burns your microchip please... cause it cause a stress on the chips.
Thanks and God bless you...
Yes on mexico we have bad signal because of the CASAS DE ADOBE jajajajaja isnt it ORB? I suggest you to go out or make a call near of the window.. cause we cant choose where to live
Thanks for the warning. I guess I will look into this some more before doing anything.

Yep oh sorry men!!! where are you from?
So please make a hard research
The reason it cooked out the radio is most likely the parts used. I've seen the same thing happen to people making "cantanna" type antennas for wifi adapters. A cell phone's radio isn't the same as a tv or fm radio where a bent coat hanger and some aluminum foil will work. The antenna has to be tuned to the frequency of the radio, as well as having the proper pigtail. There are several companies that make cellular radio repeaters for buildings that have lots of metal in the structure. It would be best to use one of these.

i listen to a band from London, and they use the word "mall" alot...what does that mean?
e.g
I'm stoned in the mall again
We're lost in the mall
Stoned in the mall the kids play
Assuming as your from the US, its not said in the same way as the word you guys use for shopping centres.
Pall Mall is an area of London, said with emphasis on the A. Could be that. Whos the band?
Porcupine Tree
come on, i know theres at least 30 people from the U.K
only 30 people fom the uk... id say its more 30000 but thats an estimate...
im from london mate, but i've never heard of porcupine tree...
id say it is probably pall mall.
its not mall as in ball or fall, but more like the "al" in alan.
if thats how the mall sounds, id say its def pall mall.. but if not, ive got no idea... ill check their myspace or something
[edit] im on their myspace, what song is it?[/edit]
Rory
thanks for the confirmation mike. I listened to their songs on myspace, but i was doing other stuff and forgot to listen out for the words lol
Rory
Thanks very much Mike.
I'm hoping for not too bad offfers... I'm on ABC right now, but with retakes I should get up to the ABB I will probably get offered from loughbrough. The great thing is, even if I dont get the ABB for loughbrough's MEng, if I get higher than BCC, I will stil get in on the BEng... So without any massive mishaps, I should be going to loughbrough

Hey mate,
I've got into the Univeristy of York, for an Msc though, finished my Bachelors in India. Maybe you could also add Bath to your list, their Automotive department is supposed to be really good. Another good uni(maybe the best in the UK for automotive) is Cranfield. I've basically finsihed my Bachelors in Mechanical but switching to IT. Good luck with your applications.
wtf?
lol, the thread's now about my uni application..
sorry for hijacking it mate
i cant apply to bath.. its too late, i didnt really like the look of it, but i think it was third best for auto... and i have heard good things about it, i just fancied somewhere more lively...
lol
After watching the video, Mike's definitely right, its just an English band using mall, becuase shopping centre is a) long, and b) it doesnt rhyme with anything much, or fit into rhythms.
Hope that's cleared it up

Hello, I know this may seem like a stupid question, but is it possible to use the TYTN II's internal GPS with an exterior GPS antenna and then link up to a satellite and make calls?
No, they use a whole different satellite system.
gps is completely different concept to satellite phones so your answer is no before some one reply's with something that may ridicule you i thought i better had.
Yes, you're absolutely right; It is a stupid question! Sayid from "Lost" might be able to fix it up for you though...
dont listen to all of them, yes its possible, you can turn your kaiser into a satelite phone, there's a cab for it.......if you had done your due diligence and searched, you would have found it.
on a side note, there are also cabs out there which will convert your phone into a warcraft and a blow up doll......although the warcraft is a little buggy, and we havent resolved the issue of sticky keys with the blow up doll, but the satelite phone works fine though
No, the Kaiser has a GPS RECEIVER. It RECEIVES GPS Signals - doesn't send anything out to a satellite.
Just thought I'd give you some more info rather than "HAHAing" at you.

No, the stupid question is the one you didn't ask
Besides, some people just dont understand their phone and its functions. It's a learning experience so don't go OTT on it
This has been bugging me since my flippant reply last night for which I am truly sorry! After some brain searching I believe that you could invest in an Iridium 9505A Satellite handset (available from £799.00) and glue this to the back of your TYTN II/AT&T Tilt thus enjoying the best of both worlds.
there ARE stupid questions: don't you think it's about time you audited my tax return? - or - don't you think it's morally wrong to give me a warning when it was, in fact, speeding?

I disagree. The professor from Gilligan's island could do it with a Kaiser, some twine and a couple of coconut shells. You remember the episode where a trans-Pacific long distance telephone cable washed up on the beach of the lagoon? The professor made a rotary telephone out of coconuts.
All kidding aside, its not possible.
-Jay
Even if it was possible to use the Kaiser as a satellite phone, would you really want a transmitter that is powerfull enough to send signals to *outer space*, 1 inch from your brain ?
A much safer solution is to buy a Bluetooth satellite transmitter, and just put it in your purse so it can talk with the Kaiser from a safe distance.
After some googling Del-Boy from Trotter's Independant Trading can do you a Goldtooth Statellite Transmitter for a pony!
Okay I think we get the point...
While amusing this is getting pointless...
Is there any software out there where you can connect to a secured wifi (and bypass the password) or hacking a wifi or something?
google kismet but it has nothing to do with this phone.
Retina by Eeye is the only one I know of (for PPC at least). Will allegedly crack WEP passwords.
Googling ends up with the following links (amongst others) -

Hope that helps.
and cain and able, but on ppc its pointless
i tryed to get the Retina by Eeye but its asking me for a company email address. any have it already dl and want to email it to me?
Why would you want to steal a persons WIFi? That's illegal. To each is own but if the black suits come knocking at your door and hit you in the head with a billy club I'll say I told you so.
wont work on wm6 i think its written for older ppc2003 devices and the driver wil lbe the wrong one

First of all. You can go to jail, for hacking and hi-jacking your neighbor's wi-fi. It is totally ILLEGAL.
Second. Why not get yourself a 3G or 4G account with your phone company, and you can connect to the internet with your 3G.
yes its completely illegal in the states and you shouldn't do it. However if you don't care about breaking the law I don't see how it could be proven in court that you hijacked someones wifi with ur mobile device, and if it came down to it im sure cooking a new rom would delete any hidden data.
If I were you find other options. Like myself. I use my wifi at home and download all the necessary data i need for the day every morning. If i run into anything I need I simply go somewhere like a library or a coffee shop to access their wifi.
Take care and stay out of trouble.

In the UK it would come under the Misuse of Computers act 1990, in the section regarding unauthorised access to a secured computer system.
If I were using it, I would be trying to break into my own network to find out how easily someone else could achieve it.
Oh, and if you are using something like "The Cloud", I heard there was some sort of "Feature" whereby you could set up a proxy server (at home) on port 53 (DNS) and use it to connect out. All you then need to do is, when you're wanting to use the Cloud's wifi connection and you can't remember your details, change your proxy settings and away you go.
all i want to do is test my set up because my friend came over with his phone and got in to my secure wifi with out much a problem. so i just want to learn how to test my security for my wifi.

I think your friend must be using 3G network, which he can connect anywhere and anytime.

anyone got any of these to work yet?
Aiding and Abetting/Accessory
A criminal charge of aiding and abetting or accessory can usually be brought against anyone who helps in the commission of a crime, though legal distinctions vary by state. A person charged with aiding and abetting or accessory is usually not present when the crime itself is committed, but he or she has knowledge of the crime before or after the fact, and may assist in its commission through advice, actions, or financial support. Depending on the degree of involvement, the offender's participation in the crime may rise to the level of conspiracy.
For example, Andy draws a floor plan of a bank, knowing of Dan's intention to rob it. After Dan commits the robbery, Alice agrees to let him store the stolen money at her house. Both Andy and Alice can be charged with aiding and abetting, or acting as accessories to the robbery.

Of course, if those secure sites are using WPA, or better, WPA2 or a WPA-enterprise system, you're not going to simply sniff and crack a password. WEP is a rapidly dying standard, and for good reason.
Just saying, you may be going to a lot of effort for zero gain, unless you know for sure these are simple WEP-secured nodes.
And if nothing else, it's immoral - just like houses, people lock their doors to keep strangers out, and a stranger smashing open a window to get in deserves no aid in the act.

However, let's think about this for a second or two...all the security and locks in the world only truly accomplish one thing...they keep the honest people honest.
The bottom line is this...if someone wants in, it doesn't matter how many highly-paid security guards you have walking the perimeter, they're gonna get in.
Where there's a will...
True, but an honest person needn't help that "someone" to commit their dishonest act.
But you are right, thus far at least, any security system created by humans has proven to be compromisable (is that a word ?) by humans.
Of course, WEP was just a bad design, right from the get-go...
no one has really tweaked the Kaiser. I was browsing a website (hackaday).com and they do some crazy out of this world things. How come no one has figured out a way to put an IRDA port on a Kaiser or something really useful. I have steady hands and I'm good at opening stuff. Would that be possible to incorporate the IRDA port of lets say an Ipaq phone and install it in the Kaiser? I think this phone would be bad ass if I could control everything in my house with my phone. Just wondering if it was possible or if any of you guys were members of that website. What do you guys think.
I mean for gods sake. They turned a freaking phone into a TAZER. How freaking cool is that.

Can anyone here help me put a motor on the Tilt with an impeller and I guess I will need a seat?
Oh - and now that it is a little larger - I will need someone to make a holder for me as well? (it will have to fit on my belt by the way.)

Ok I am aware of the thread opened for the IRDA port. I'm just saying no one has attempted to tweak a Kaiser.
One the website they turned an Xbox 360 into a Laptop, Wii as a Laptop, etc. The point I'm trying to make is that no one has attempted to play around with the inner workings.
*** Second Post, thanks for your sarcasm but it was pointless. Check out the website and you'll see what I'm talking about. There are people with amazing talent on that site.***

You are welcome - and everything does not have to have a point does it? If so the point was you can strap a bill on a goat but that does not make it a duck!
If you need the IRDA functionality - rather than take it apart - void any chance of a warranty - strap on a port wire it up - have additional issues - why not actually purchase a phone/unit with an IRDA port on it?
Re: there are people with amazing talent on that site -yup - over here our guys are toads - don't got a lick a sense between em.
Several french fries short of a happy meal - the lot of us.
Well - that sums up my entertainment for the morning!
Bill
Anyway..... any other input from other people.
Bill why would I buy another phone if I like this one. That's like people buying a Honda and customizing it to their liking. (adding rims, spoiler, turbo tint, blah blah blah etc) They could buy Mugen Honda which has all that stuff combined but they'd rather prefer the satisfaction of doing it themselves. Catch my flow? I like my phone and want to mess around with it more that's all I was saying. I don't see anyone laughing so obviously either you are not funny or nobody cares what you have to say.

I personally have always thought of this site as great (or simple) minds getting together to improve the functionality of the phone not to see if we can turn our phones into something that no longer resembles a phone. With all the wild cooking and software development the basic premise of will it make it a better phone has always held.
How would this even work there is no hardware for it. It doesnt make any sense you think someone is going to engineer a new board and electronics for you ? If anyone had that kind of talent they wouldent be waisting it for free.
OK check out hackaday. THey have mad talent and they post instructions on how to do it yourself. So yes they do it for free most of the time.
Hi all.
Here's the deal! I, like many others, need to have the mic in the wired headset or bluetooth, working! So here is what I propose..... I will offer a "reward" of CASH to whoever works this issue out! I don't mean $10 or $20, I mean a decent sized reward! Anyone else want to jump in on this with me???
This is a necessary requirement for me and others, I am sure, as a speakerphone only is good, but not useable in my job situation due to privacy concerns!
I am serious about this! If you are too, just post here and let the community and cooks know.....
Later.................
Nobody else? I start the "reward" at $100 USD.......
Heaven would be to have it work with a BT headset. I dont agree with the reward concept -going by that you are already in debt to cmonex/thaihugo who made phone calls possible on their own time and with little help/supportfrom anyone.
but will cheerfully donate to the person(s) that get us to this utopia...
Well, I have donated to their projects in the past and will continue to do so!
I just believe that a little extra "incentive" never hurts. BTW, either method of headset is important. I am not totally sure that bluetooth will be possible on the winmo side. So wired would be just as good for me and others, I am sure.
Later...........
Well I am not in the shift project, so I didn't see any 'incentive' from you before
I'm not very found of the bounty system. It just create competition when we need to associate.
We waited that long for improvment because everybody was waiting for the shift project to release something. Putting a bounty will make sure everybody works on his own again...

I think it's a good reason for all to reward others of solving this problem , because it's already so long that nobody can make the shift to become an usable calling phone / pda device , many have tried from day one ( Dec 2007 ) but until now it is still nothing solid yet , so let's see someone out there who is really a sifu in making this device to talk . Well, on my part, I did not have a Shift until recently...... but for me at least, the ability to use a headset is as crucial as the phone working was. I am in a business where privacy is a large concern.
Phone was the first "miracle" and all the work done by you, cmonex, Olipro, i00, and others to get it operating is GREATLY appreciated. That can not be said enough times! I just want to be able now to say "thank you" for the next miracle.....LOL (Also, the funds were not available to me before! I got lucky and sold something on fleabay and those are the funds that I am now offering. )

hehe I make a donation of 200$ for them, they enable really the SD Card slot and full Display resolution within the Windows Mobile side ) (no Joke)
i pay 100$ for BT stack to be enabled winmo side and become full fledge BT working on winmo, and you can hold me for that
PS. it hits me someone can write over the current bios with something think that would be compatible after some tries we might find something compatible or someone from HTC plz put the a mercy bullet to our heads and realese a usable BIOS with SD and BT
I noticed one thing regarding microphone of handfree in vista also not detected by the realtek HD Audio Manager even though handsfree having microphone. Is headphone jack doesn’t have mic connection or realtek driver doesn’t support it?
I agree with lots of what been said and go further to say, there's been lots of issues with the development of a full Rom, tragic illness, people leaving etc, and so I think it's totally valid to offer a reward such as this. It may attract people who would normally just wait for The project cooks to have a go.
The two most important things to me ave wife access and SD card access from win mo side.
It's the reason I may sell my shift and go back to the X7501!
So I'll certainly add $50 or more to this reward for wi fi
