Tilt not connecting to 3g network - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hi. I flashed duttys diamond rom today and everything was going fine.
Now all of a sudden the tilt can't connect to the 3g network anymore. I have radio 1.65.16.25 which is the one that comes with duttys diamond v1 rom.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

I am having similar problems but i havent flashed lately. I just figured ATT figured out a way to block 3g from my phone since when i disable it, it works fine.

Oh well I was thinking of just putting the same radio back on.
Do you guys think that will work?
If i want to put the same radio back on all i have to do is
1. download the radio
2. Connect tilt to computer with activesync
3. cid unlock by running kaiserunlocker and skip step 1 because I already have cmonex's hardspl 3.29 on my tilt.
4. run the kaiserruu which has the radio in the same folder.
Then I'm done right? Is that all I have to do?

I don't think you need to cid unlock if you already have hard spl, just skip step 3 and go to 4.
Also, on at&t here in central texas, I haven't had a 3g icon in about a week, I either get a H or E, but no more 3g. As long as you still get H, your alright

well i fixed the problem by putting the radio backon and i did do step 3 because well i didnt c urpost before i did it. anyways it seems to be working now.
i wasnt getting connected at all. no H or E and it saidt he browser wouldnt work or some sorta error message

Just lived through this
Although not nearly as complex as everyone else's answer, I recently noticed I was edge all the way. I went to the comm manager and noticed that 3G was off. I guess when it goes into plane mode (which it does too many times due to the close proximity of the PLANE MODE tab to the BLUETOOTH ON tab) it doesn't turn that back on when it comes out.
Turned on the 3G and now spend most of my time in H!
Good luck

Cingular 8125 rom upgraded to rom 2.16.9.101 successfully

I have installed the 1.12.10 GSM on it after making backups with aWizard. I am happy to report that it does work and that it does speed up the initial connection. Before (with 1.09.11 I beleive) I could log into (enter my PIN) and would still have some time before I would connect and get signal bars. It also seemed to increase refresh rates of the bars. Now the signal is usually found before I even finish entering my PIN muchless the today screen loading.
These tests were made in my basement at my house where I typically have been getting 1-3 bars. now to test 1.13.10 and 2.8 OS to see if it works.
I will say I thought it broke at first because I couldn't get my PC to talk to it after it reloaded, then I did another soft reset and the boot screen the second time didn't list the GSM version, even though the OS did see and use GSM. I re-ran the CID unlock procedure again since I could talk to the phone again. Reset again and GSM ver was on the boot screen again.
I also swapped out the boot screen for a bmp and that worked wonderfully. my only question is if there is a way to swap out the booting screen of the OS and not just the IPL Rom.
cheers,
ET
I have just done the RUU install of 2.16.9.101 which also upgrades IPL/SPL to 2.16. It changed my radio version to 2.7.10 and my protocol version is 413.1.0.3. This ROM date is 2/6/06.
Immediate differences are the battery notification is now at the top where on Cingular's ROM it was at the bottom next to the comm switch program. That and everything is I-Mate branded. No Get Good, but instead now I have I-Mate backgammon and Skype. And instead of the Cingular Mail link now there is an I-Mate mail link.
I will update later with more.
More... OS ver 5.1.195 build 14847.2.0.0 IDK if this is different or not.
Update 11AM: I have tested more. ZPhone themes I can't seem to install... IDK why but with the original Cingular ROM I couldn't either. The original ROM had a bug that used the proxy of the modem setting on the wifi setting making wifi not work unless you went and disabled it since it is enabled by default. This new rom after installing "Cingulcustomize_No_Emails.cab" to get MediaNet back, wifi just works. Even with the Proxy set on the modem connection. My Bluetooh headset (Jabra HT800) works great. Comm Manager is real nice. Even showing you the status of SMS and GPRS/EDGE connection. I want to play with it a little more to see if I can control those two or not. Gone from teh Cingular ROM is the ability to click on the Edge status icon in the notification area and tell it to turn on Wifi. But the Turn on Flight Mode still exists under the Cell Strength bar. Signal strength is comperable to the 1.12.10 radio rom I had before the upgrade. And IDK if it is taking longer to load from a reset or not, but before the Phone radio would be up and running just as I was finishing putting in my PIN unlock. But now it is running and connected before I can even start to input it. Just observation, that extra second doesn't mean anything.
I also have the 8125, so I am curious if the Imate ROM will cause any problems after the upgrade. I am not sure I want to wait a few more months until Cingular gets around to providing their upgrade.
Some other posters with the test/beta Qtek AKU 2.0 rom reported that they had trouble with the device resetting itself and problems with Wi-Fi. Let us know if you experience any issues with this ROM.
How has EDGE speed been, any improvements over the shipped ROM? Have you tried push email?
ok, i updated my 8125 to the new rom and am having two issues atm. first, the phone signal icon and the battery icon on the today screen is cut off so i only see the edge icon. secondly, i cannot start wifi at all, no matter what i do :\ (it looks like it's thinking but doesn't actually turn on ) now i did apply the cingular extended rom to this so i dont know if that caused both issues or not. as for edge performance, i'm in an area with bad signal so i couldnt exactly test it. i'm going to be clearing storage tonight and see if that fixes both issues or not. i haven't tested push e-mail as clubimates servers AREN'T supporting direct push (ie they don't have SP2 installed or have it enabled on exchange).
Locked up
Well I am noticing that it is locking up if I let it sit for a while to where I can't bring it back up. I have disabled the lock code to see if that fixes it.
I would have a feeling that the problems you are having are because of the enhanced rom difference. it won't hurt to try it as is like I did since you are having problems with it.
were can I fine install
I look for the rom in the ftp but there is no RUU install of 2.16.9.101 can you please tell me where can I fin this rom
thank you

thank you for giving the info on where to get the link. I have been away from a pc today.
as an update: the phone seems to be stable with the new rom (I am actually using the phone now using edge and it seems faster than my old phone was which was a nokia.)
I haven't had it lock up on me since I uninstalled battery pack pro, disabled lock code, and uninstalled skype & backgammon so take your pick as to what fixed it. I will do some more expereriments to try and figure iit out.

Are you having the same issues as darkjedi who said he's having problems with WiFi and signal strength icon?
after the upgrade i cant find the GPS ICON
even i try to delete the redirect string in the registry like i used to do before
still i cant see the icon on my setting page
please anyone noticed this problem ?

i finally fixed the signal strength icon (but don't ask me how), but wifi is still borked
no more problems, lock ups or otherwise
My guess with my problems were related to Battery Pack Pro demo. Even on the original rom I couldn't get it to work right with the assignable hard keys.
Anyway, I did not modify the original EXE one bit like darkjedi said he did. He seems to be much more advanced as I don't know how to do what he did and not that familier with its registry settings yet. But I naver had any problems with Wifi nor with icon placement.
My home wifi does use WPS-PSK TKIP using a Netgear WG302. Battery life seems good, but I do get a little crackle every now and then on my end of the bluetooth handsfree. People I talk to haven't said they hear anything other than perfect clarity. I would have been told if they heard anything since part of my reason to spend the money now rather than later was my voice and signal quality on my old Nokia was getting to be bad and they wouldn't waste a second ragging me if voice and signal problems were re-appearing. But mostly the crackle is few and far between and usually when my headset is on the other side of my body or I am a few feet away from my phone.
i didn't modify the original EXE, i installed it as normal, then after the fact, copied the cingular extended ROM then installed each cab manually. i didn't get a chance to try wifi before i applied the extended rom, but i just might hard reset and try that.
i dnt see the rush to upgrade if u have a cingular 8125 since there goa offer rom upgrades for the unit. with all the bugs i rather just get a ad2 bt plugin (wish they made it) and just do that
what roms do they offer? On my past phones I have had to have major problems before they would flash a new version of the Rom (my last 2 symbian phones).

ok... the only cab I installed for Cingular was the one I mentioned earlier. I have since installed spb power plus and their weather app and I am still stable. Not one failuer and my bluetooth is actually acting better from some reason. I was working on my car today with teh phone in the car and I was about 10 feet away without any noise or other problems.

Is there any settings to configure edge? I only see GPRS in the connections section.
This version appears quite stable but's only my second day since upgrading my 8125 from the QTECH 2.8.7.102. I really like the Comm manager and the Push Email icon works great.
Thanks!
name of account
the only thing that I have notice so far is that the name of my celular company (I could see before upgrade) now i only see numbers.

On the new imate ROM I'm getting between 65 and 110 kbps on edge. Latency is still crap at about 1.5 seconds on average, but that's what it's always been for me.
Direct push is great. Assuming you have Exch SP2 installed, push works without any other changes. I'm averaging between 7 and 10 seconds for an entry to push out after it gets to Exchange. I haven't installed the device management tools yet, but I'll do that soon and let you know how well they work.
I just noticed wifi isn't working. If I enable it in comm manager, the button is ringed in green as if it's on, but the left green led does not blink and it does not detect my open, unsecured access point. I did install the cabs from my original cingular extended rom, and one of those appears realted to wifi, but not sure what it does. I'll mess around some more and see what I can do. I'm not totally heartbroken that wifi is messed up, but it does bug me that I don't know why it aint working.

USA T-Mobile Vario ROM upgrade?

I was hoping I could run the k-jam RUU 2.x upgrade on my Vario (1.6, I think). Does anyone know if they'll be releasing ROM updates, or what's going on?
Just did it. Upgraded to I-Mate 2.8.7.x. At the end installed UK T-Mobile though. Then later just apdated GPRS manually with their wap.voicestream.com server and that's about it. Can call can be called. Internet works even Mobile Skype works decent can now call and be called when on move. Radio plays without interruptions and if the service is not good it resumes on its own. Even when tried to turn off/on the device radio station just resumed automatically.
Everything much better and faster overall.

I'm in the same boat (and location) as you. I haven't upgraded to the new iMate rom, though. Did you back up your existing (stock, I presume) rom and extended rom cabs before flashing the new update? If so, how did you go about doing it?
I'm interested in trying. What really interests me is the radio portion, since I'm having issue connecting to the repeaters in my office building. Every other TMO phone connects, and I can even put my sim into my old Typhoon and it will connect, but all the new MDAs and SDAs wont connect to these repeaters.

This is very interesting to me. I had a P900 that I lost and replaced with the MDA. In my office on Broadway and 20th in NYC, I can't get a signal inside the building. I get 4 bars standing on the street outside. The P900, a SE T616 and a Feeler device were able to connect before I got the P900. Oddly, when I went back to the Feeler it could not connect. I initially thought this was due to the new SIM or a T-Mobile issue but now I'm thinking it's an HTC issue because I had upgraded my Feeler to the latest iMate SP3i firmware before I lost my P900. Level 1 tech support told me that the device was "getting confused" between two towers. She asked me for my IMIE, reset something and my phone could connect... then lost the signal permanently an hour or so later. My MDA has never connected to T-Mobile in my office and I'm tired of bugging T-Mobile about the issue.
For the record, when you do a manual serch with the MDA, can you see T-Mobile's network? Both my Typhoon and my MDA can only see Cingular's.

I think our issues are a bit different. I think my issue has something to do with the repeaters either having a list of "authorized" phones (which would be silly to do it whitelist style) that allow all the old TMO phones (and even my Typhoon, which is the weird part since TMO never released that phone), or there is somethign with the radio stack on the MDAs and SDAs that is so new that the repeaters wont allow it to authenticate. The phones work perfectly outside, so it is something to do with the repeaters in this building not allowing these new phones to auth.
Interestingly enough, I did to a manual search in here and I got Cingular's network as well, even though TMO works perfectly fine with my Typhoon or any other GSM capable phone other than the MDA and SDA. I couldn't auth to Cingular, just detect it.
Perhaps I'm just grasping at straws. The most frustrating thing is that my Feeler worked for 6 months in my office perfectly well. Now with either the new firmware or the new SIM, it can't connect.
Are you able to see T-Mobile listed by using the manual search on the affected deviced at all even if you can't connect?

I didn't backup the original ROM because it can be found on the CD coming with MDA (T-Mobile Windows Mobile 5 PPC...). The extended ROM also can be downloaded from FTP. Regarding radio portion: before installing I-Mate's ROM I've updated only radio portion of the phone with RADIO_ROM_Wizard_GSM_11210.exe and tested it for about 2 days. The reception and signal were better, than the original radio. Cannot say anything about repeaters, since we don't have them in our building, but I can see that signal strength bar shows 3-4 bars instead none to 2. By the way after installing I-Mate's new ROM I've tried to apply T-Mobile's extended ROM. The phone behaved really strange, so I just reinstalled the new ROM without it.

Hmm, that might be a suggestion. I'm interested in updating the entire thing for performance reasons, but what I'm most interested in is the radio portion. If the update can fix my repeater issue, then I'd be on top of it.

What to install and after K-JAM_WWE_216901.... update
Okay here's a few things you should know....
Before you install the 2.16 update you should run the lokiwiz app and unlock your device (because after this upgrading to 2.16 you won't be able to...and you won't be able to edit your extended rom). So if you want to be able to edit your extended rom then don't upgrade to the 2.16!
Second, if you do upgrade your splash screen will be changed from the T-Mobile MDA white one to the club i-mate blue one, and thus far I can't get the splash screen to go back to the T-Mobile white one.
Third, I noticed after installing the 2.16 ROM and T-Mobile extended ROM apps my wifi was dead so I went through just about everyone and individually selected the ones I needed to install. Here's the list of all the ones you should install on your T-Mobile MDA (US Version). Oh and one more thing make sure you soft reset your device after you flash (right when it says installing customizations)

Please note the numbers are there because that is the order in which they need to be installed in. DO NOT INSTALL THE T-MOBILE COMM MANAGER CAB!!
Also note that the last cab (029) is from the imate extended rom, so you'll need to get that from some imate extended rom....don't go looking for it in the t-mobile extended rom.
I think that's all for now...
Oh yeah...please forgive any spelling errors as well as the poor grammar...I don't care much for it
*edit* I should probably tell you which app it was that killed the wifi....it was Signed_GPRS-stall_Wizard_TMOUS_DEC20.cab which did it for me...
Re: What to install and after K-JAM_WWE_216901.... update
I've successfully resolved all the Bluetooth and wi-fi problems even without installing TMOs extended rom. I've realized that in order to turn on wi-fi or Bluetooth I was using command manager and then later the only way I could remove it from memory is killing it. Finally I just enabled wi-fi from the connection icon and it immediately found my wi-fi network and connected to it. Same goes for the Bluetooth. I'm thinking about either not running the command manager or installing TMO related one. All other features working well for the last 48hr. The battery life improved, the connectivity superb. By the way you may also wont to remove Skype, because it's the old version and doesn't work properly.
I was thinking that the best way to go about being able to edit the Extended rom (or go back to default, which is another thing I'd like to do when upgrading) is break the iMate rom into 3 parts.
If I can get the iMate full rom into the GSM, OS, and Extended rom parts, then wouldn't it be better to update the GSm and OS roms manually and leave the stock TMO Extended rom? Therefore, if you ever wanted to go back to "stock," you could.

Interesting Issue

I have CID Unlocked my 8125 and upgraded numerous times. In my playing around with the roms and Cingular Ext Rom cabs i found an intersting abberation. No matter what Rom I use if I the cingular 1.08 extended Rom cabs and install them on my 8125 and Run one cab in particular. it is the Signed_gprsstall.cab.sa. Then I flash my radio ROM twice. I then have 4 bars of reception just about anywhere i go. For example on of our stores we normally get 0-1 bars of reception, but when i do the above mentioned process I get 4 bars at the cost of a little more battery power. But when i do this I cannot use the wifi. I click on the wifi icon in the connection manager and it thinks for a little bit then goes back to the icon with the x in it. Anyone got any ideas?? Like the extra power but want to use wifi.

I seem to remember sumitter mentioning something about him leaving that particular cab out of his ROM's due to that WIFI issue...

I have been searching for days on wifi issues. I tell you the trade off is almost worth it. I find it very interseting quirk how the wifi doesn't work but the reception of the phone is increased. I wish i knew more about it to find out why it happens like that.
I don't use Wifi at all having unlimited data tariff, and the reception where I live is absolutely terrible- most of the time no signal at all.
Is it possible to install that cab and then uninstall it somehow without the hard reset? If I need to use wifi abroad etc.
Could someone please post it here?

If you go to the FTP and go to wizard page and the Extended Rom. Look for the Cingular_8125_108EXTROM. download it and unzip it and look for the Signed_gprsstall.cab.sa. You will then have to falsh your radio twice. I reccomend Summiters 2.17 and then the wizard 2.25. I have not been able to figure out how to disable it through the registry. I don't know what settings that it is playing with. Each time i had to hard reset to remove the problem.

Drives me nuts. I never use wifi but i always want everything to work perfectly though.
I found the file that causes the conflict but have not been able to remove or correct it. When you install the gprsstall cab it installs a file rilgsm.dll. When i renamed it through the active sync for a brief moment the wifi appeared again until Windows automatically duplicated the file and put it back on.

Switching from T-Mobile to ATT? Help Please

I just got a Diamond last week and have been using it on T-Mobile in the United States, and it's great and all but I don't think I ever got Data to work... But that's irrelevant now, because my family just suddenly switched my plan to ATT after being on T-Mobile for 10 years, so now I need to switch my Diamond to an ATT network. I put the SIM card in, and the Diamond asked me if I wanted to change settings and I said yes. I restarted the phone, but I still can't get a connection, I have no service. Please help -- what should I do to get this phone going for calling and texting, and then switching my old number over? I'm not concerned about Data just yet.
Try running the Connection Setup wizard again. Mine worked fine on ATT after it automatically configured it.
Yeah I tried running it again, still nothing. Next to the little signal indicator, all I've got is the exclamation point. Do I need to somehow delete old settings?
One thing I've done after flashing and after the setup has run is change the following: Settings/Personal/Phone/Band -- Set network type to GSM, and band to UMTS(850+1900)+GSM(850+1900). I'm not sure if it makes a difference though, and I don't really know what settings the Connection Setup changes. Maybe the band settings will work for you?
That was the first thing I tried. I just got off the phone with ATT for 2 or so hours, and their solution was to visit a local store. I'm going to try this tommorow. In the mean time I'm stuck using some LG free phone

How does your Diamond run UMTS 850/1900? I know they unlocked 850mhz GSM, I didn't know UMTS was unlocked as well...

No **** huh? Where did you get your Diamond? Does 3G work perfectly in the states?
t-mobile to ATT
I just went from t-mobile to att.
i just popped the att sim card in and it configured it to att automatically. I also updated the rom which allows you to get a GREAT signal with att. Before the update ROM my signal was spotty. Where i got 1 bar i get 4 now.
Good luck ...it should work. But!!! no 3G....however its fast enough for me for what i use it for. IM very happy with my Diamond.

That's what I expected, which is why I'm so perplexed by silverworm having UMTS 850/1900 available.

That's just what the setting says ... the last part of it (GSM 850+1900) is what gets used.
DrSilvermorm, you might want to try flashing the 1.93 ROM with the .05 radio. It'll only take you 15 minutes, instead of hours for the store. I went from 1-2 bars to 4 bars in some areas with the radio update, and my connection is more stable than it was in 1.37.

Umm, no, a setting doesn't "just say" UMTS 850/1900... The Diamond has been advertised with the new 850mhz GSM band, but everywhere it says it only has 900/2100mhz UMTS band. For there to be a setting for 850/1900 contradicts everything we've seen about the Diamond.

It was discovered a couple weeks ago that the Diamond is actually quad band, and that the original ROMs had simply locked the 850 band (for reasons only known to HTC). The first hint of this was the release of the 1.93 Hong Kong ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=410720
The setting for GSM 850+1900 does in fact work.
Well, it only said this in my settings, I wasn't actually getting UMTS or GSM, for that matter. I went to the ATT store today and they were very impressed to see my Diamond the employee ran to the back to show his manager. I told them about my dilemma and they said that in Cincinnati (where I live), ATT runs exclusively on the 850 band.
I figured, duh, all I need to do is flash my ROM like so many of us have done to enable 850. I shouldn't have expected it to work, depsite what it says in my phone's settings, because I have yet to flash my ROM at all.
However, I am totally new to Windows Mobile and flashing ROM presents an even bigger challenge to me. All this talk about hardSPLs and cooked ROMS and .NET frameworks has gotten me very confused. I couldn't even get Windows Mobile Device Manager to install properly last week when I was on T-Mobile and trying to install some emulators, so naturally, I'm very frustrated . I'm very tempted to just sell my Diamond and go get an iPhone 3G, but I think I still have not lost hope yet.
Is there a comprehensive, step-by-step guide for flashing my ROM to a 850-enabled version with vista that anyone could point me to? This would be very very much appreciated! I don't want my $700 investment to go to waste so soon.
Edit: After using the excellent "search" feature of these forums (sorry forum veterans) I have found I promising guide that I will employ shortly, found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406968. I will let you know of the results when I am done. I think I am going to try to flash to the ROM that GeckoDev recommended, if I can find it. Thanks friends!

That's NOT my question! I'm 100% aware the ROM has unlocked 850mhz GSM, we've been over this a million times. But 850/1900mhz UMTS is for 3G, and I've never seen a Diamond working with 3G in the states. THAT's what I'm asking about, the GSM bands have never been a question.
Well Silverworm, good luck. If this is the site you found in that thread, this is the one I've checked out when learning how to flash ROMs.

Yup, that's the one, thank you. So far though I haven't been able to get past the Hard SPL step though. Every time I run the ROMUpdateUtility all I manage to do is soft-reset my phone and get ERROR: 260 CONNECTION on the utility. I can't get past 0% on the update utility, and it tells me I should check to see if it's plugged in. It is indeed plugged in, directly to my laptop, and not to my USB hub. It is even able to tell me what my current ROM is, so I don't see how it can question whether or not the Diamond is plugged in. What am I doing wrong?
I establish ActiveSync everytime I plug my Diamond into my laptop, but there was one note in the how-to guide that was peculiar to me: *Make sure the activesync icon is be green (finished synchronizing). On my windows vista business OS, I don't see an activesync icon in my system tray, even though I establish activesync everytime I plug in my Diamond. Is this part of the problem? If so, what should I do?
I've tried both Olipro's 1.20 and Des's CrashProof SPL. Both had the same problem. Also, I couldn't successfully enter the bootloader to check my SPL. The guide said to press the power, camera, and reset buttons at once, but there is no camera button to my knowledge. I searched on the forums and somewhere else I read that you just need to press volume down and reset, but for the few times I tried this this just soft-reset my Diamond...
As for your question about why it has 850 UMTS as an option as my settings, I have no idea, and I am sure it will not work because I can't even get the regular 850 band working. But this is what it says. If you really like, I can post a picture.
I tried searching in the forums, but I can't find anyone with my same problem. If this has already been resolved, a link would be very much appreciated.
I'm still having the same problem everytime I try to run ROMupdateutility -- all it does is reset my phone, then tells me error 260 -- that my phone is not connected, and that I should check the USB. Why does my phone keep resetting?
Again, I am using Windows Vista Business 32 bit, and the phone is plugged in directly through the laptop. Please please help, I really do not want to sell my phone, if I can help it.

I had a problem like this with vista. I went to start-> settings-> connections-> usb to pc (on the phone) and unchecked 'enable advanced network functionality'. Unplugged the usb cable and plugged it back in, worked like a charm.

I tried this, and it still just soft-resets. Thank you very much for the suggestion, though. Any other ideas?
Also still having trouble running the bootloader, how do I do this? Is it a crucial step, or only necessary for checking which SPL I have?

GSM not working but 3G works

Hey. Today is not my day
My phone wont work with GSM anymore, it works well with 3G but when it tries to connect to a GSM network it just dies :/ i have no clue what it could be. It was working well yesterday, i have tried to do a hard reset but still wont work. any ideas? Thanks.
Sorry for bad english!
by the way, there is a strange sound in the speaker when it tries to connect to a GSM network.

On automatic it sets on 3G becurse i got 3G here, and if it losts the 3G connection and tries to connect to GSM it dies. ( thats how i found out about this problem on the way too school this morning. )
in my network i observe problems with connects to GSM: Sometime i lost the GSM connection/signal, where my Wizard has a safty connection.
It can be a standard Problem with the current Radio ROM
I think about change the radio ROM. pse look to Diamond ROM development to find a instruktion. the ".25.05" should be the best Radio Rom with a better energy performence and better Signals. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=407956
BUT i have not change in this time, while i test my Battery performance after a reducing of background software/applications.

die completly = shut down/swith of the Diamond?
This i not have obervate.
If you follow the instructions, the Radio update is out of problems. If you will get the old radio version, so you can get it back with the original provider update of ROM.
for german Vodafone there is a download by vodafone.de under "technischer Support". i think the most providers has a update download. Look to your provider, if there be a ROM update.

Yes it completely dies, like a shortcut
I'll have too check it out, im from .SE so i'll need to find a radio that works here then?

before you look for a new Radio, make a reset or a hard reset. My be, that it "repair" your problem.
By my WIZARD i has update the Radio.
I think, that the radio ROMs for the Diamond are also standards (how by the WIZARD) without differences.
Radio ROMs look to:

or

Instruction for Flash: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416211
in this both threads must be a information for select the right Radio Rom.
