Is their any possiblity to get voip programs working on diamond?
I have no use for voip, so I haven't tried it, but take a look at "Fring."
http://www.fring.com/download/
Beyond fring’s social appeal, it also saves money letting you make affordable local and international calls to landline and regular cellular numbers using your SkypeOut/SkypeIn account or almost any internet voice service (SIP) such as SIPNET, EuteliaVoIP, VoIPVoIP and VoIPTalk, even from non-SIP enabled handsets.

Wanna use voip. Skype has the free answer as long as you stay on the net. Of the net is at local charges. Check it out at WWW.Skype.com
Enjoy
Skype is a closed product and you are stuck with their pricing for out-of-net calls. Use a softphone based on SIP or, better yet IAX as that will give you no headache when using public hotspots.
If you'd like to try the demo of a new VoIP product for PPC (which will come out soon) send me a private mail. Please also give details which model PPC you are using and an email address to send things to.

PLEASE HELP me to block private/restricted calls on my HTC FUZE. I have a person calling me with private and or restricted number all night long...at least 40-50 times through out the night. on my HTC tilt I could set a no ring tone sound for the unknown calls....in the HTC fuze I don't see such option. I installed call firewall on it today and now its blocking ALL my calls
sorry If this is already answered but could not find a solution when searching the site...
any help would be much appricieated.....
Thanks
Which version of Call Firewall are you using? Is it v1.4?
If so there should be an option to "Reject Unknown / Private Calls". This should work for you, but no gaurantees.
I have the 1.4 version but it blocks all my calls
I have the 1.4 version but it blocks all my calls ...when i tried setting it to unknown / blocked calls it still blocks all my calls! =(
I called att&t and they won't do a thing...
Put a blank sound file on your phone. Put the person in your contacts, set the rington as the blank sound file.

It is unknown. You can't put that into your phonebook.
<I fail at reading.
I am using CallFirewall 1.4 and it works great on my Rapahel. All unknown calls got rejected. Maybe you should jsut reinstall Callfirewall program.
Have you tried SPB Phone Suite? I am using it although I don't use the Call filter function.
But I checked what it offers and you can add Private Callers to blacklist.
There should be trial version of SPB PS on their website... Maybe you can try it if you don't mind to pay a few bucks eventually.
Try MagiCall
I use magiCall by mobiion here is the link: http://www.mobiion.com/magicall.html I have used it for at least 4 years and it works wonders. While it's isn't free the developers supports it fully provides free updates for minor releases. It has a lot of options as well and there is a 15 day free trial.
You could use YouMail to do this. It's a voice mail service for your phone that allows you to block particular callers as well.

I am using the call firewall 1.4. However I still get 1 ring before it rejects them. It also tends to block any number that is NOT private/restricted. For example I make a call from my home (unblocked) to the mobile phone...it starts ringing but won't let me answer the call =(
What settings are you guys using on the call firewall? may be I am doing something wrong...
I have the reject unknown/private calls checked.....
MagiCall RULES!
I just installed the free trial of MagiCall and it works like a champ :=) I don't get my normal calls rejected and it actually rejects the blocked numbers with out a single ring....
I WISH IT WAS FREE! any one has a copy to spare
call firewall automatically shutdow in touch pro
i am using call firewall 1.4 on my touch pro and after i minimize it, i suppose it hide and keep running behind.
i leave the "Do not show in 'Running Program'" uncheck, so i am suppose to see it's running in the task manager all the times, right?
but it seems that call firewall sometime will automatically shutdown and disappear from the tasks manager. sometime is after i turn on the media player, sometime is after i turn on the youtube link.
the worse things is, this shutdown does not occur consistencely.
does anyone of the experienced user can tell me do they get similar issue on their touch pro/fluz with call firewall?
i did contact with HTC but they cannot help me because i cannot explicitely tell them how and when the software will shut down.
i want to see may be it is due to i am just not too familiar with the machine. or there are someother treak that is i don't know.
this also happen with both SPB GPRS Monitor and the SPB wireless Monitor.
those are also program i need to run at the background consistenly.

I found that Mobiion is co-operating with TrialPay. If you don't know much about TrialPay, you may search it on the internet.
You are able to get MagiCall for free by doing a TrialPay purchase. Just open the product page http://www.mobiion.com/magicall.html, and then close the page, a window will pop up displaying a purchase button to make TrialPay purchase and get MagiCall for free.
Hope it can help you.
+1 for youmail.com

Thanks for the info. Just did this. Worked like a charm. I signed up for a free trial of emusic.com and now Mobiion will be sending me a registration key within 24 hour. Instead of $24 this ended up costing nothing. All I have to do is log into my emusic account and cancel the trial tomorrow without being charged anything.

Thanks for the notice. Been waiting for a version other than iSkoot.
Be carefull. I just installed it and from what I understood you have to pay even when someone calls YOU !
In short, this "Skype Lite" connects to skype servers via your minutes, not voip. Nuff said.
Update:
Truphone has been ported to Android.
http://www.cyrket.com/package/com.truphone.android
Where's the package to be found? Doesn't seem to actually be on the market despite it showing at cryket. Is this location restricted?
Truphone does NOT work in packet mode. Here is the response I got from Truphone support:
"Unfortunately, Truphone on the Google Android is designed to work only with
Truphone Anywhere. It is not possible to make free calls over WiFi on that
handset. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.
If you have any further queries please reply to this email for assistance.

What would be neat is if someone could write an extension of some sort to the dialer that allows calling over SIP. All you would have to do is input your carrier information, set preferences on how you want calls sent/received through the VoIP connection and the phone itself would handle the rest.

Argh crap. Upon further investigation you're correct. Should have done my due diligence =(
I'll move it down to the partial-voip section and continue waiting for a full solution =)
You should also add Voxofon to the partial VOIP list. I tried it and it has to dial a US number before connecting you to your deisred number.

looking 4 a G1 VoIP solution (any experiences?)
Hi there,
greetings to all - 1st post here ;-)
I live in Chile and have an unlimited 3G data chip for which I can also get the most basic 10$ voice plan. We do have really good 3G coverage here!
I do make quite some calls abroad, thus I was looking into VoIP solutions for the G1.
Is anybody using their G1 as VoIP-device? ... what voip clients are you using? IScoot? ... what "carrier" do you use?
thx for sharing your thoughts.
al
Sip or IAX VOIP Client for Android G1?
Does anyone know of a working SIP or IAX VOIP client that is working on Android G1?
TIA
topkat0
can anyone still see this on the market- i can't see it- please don't tell me they have made it available to US customers only! With my provider i get 4000 free skype minutes as part of my data plan so wanna see if they work thru the G1 (of course they don't support the G1 so who knows.....
Anyone got an apk for skype lite for android?

I searched for "Skype" and "Lite version of Skype beta" came up. Is that what your looking for?
There is also an app called "iSkoot for Skype".
Here is the description.
"iSkoot for Skype delivers the features of Skype to your mobile phone. View your contacts, IM, make & receive Skype calls and place SkypeOut calls to phone numbers worldwide. iSkoot routes calls via the voice channel to offer unsurpassed call quality"
Sorry.... I don't subscribe to Skype so for me... it's not really worth downloading or really looking into but I hope that this points you in the right direction and is some help.
yeah i can see them on cryket but not on my market- did a search and finally found an apk for skype lite- will try it out tomorrow.
I saw the iskoot thread on here saying it wasn't available to those not in USA so maybe skype is the same.... either way, i now have it
Funny thing is i have the app APK Installer but being an adventurous person i had a crack at using the adb to install it- took me a while- for some reason i had to do adb remount and after that it worked perfectly!
Nothing available yet, just some "lite" versions that use your minutes.

Partial only
http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showtopic=343121&pid=1655211&st=0&#entry1655211
basically
Please put a setting in the current version, or make a new version that is wifi only.
Currently using skype in my G1 i use my t-mobile minutes, and what ever skype credit is needed to make the call.
Given this situation.. why would i ever use skype on my android based phone?

please keep bumping it on the skype side, i would love this to happen.
Use sipdroid.
If you really want to use skype, try http://www.skype.com/business/form/sip-beta/ -- though I can't imagine a reason why you would want to use skype instead of a proper sip provider.
Well i am a long time skype user, have a skype acc, have a positive balance, i have all my contacts there...
And to be honest, i have never heard of sip for voip before.
I will download it and try it out of course.
Ok I ripped this from my Stock Alltel 6.1 TP Rom tracked down the files and reg entries and cab'd it all up.... I installed the cab on my TP now using SilenceMighty Rom and it functions perfectly.
I don't have or personally know anyone on another carrier to test it so I don't know if it will work on other carriers...
City ID, an application from Cequint, features information on more than 20,000cities in North America, providing enough detail to be useful identifying numbers calling from both across town and across the country
City ID service will automatically display the city and state where an incoming phone number is registered, providing additional information to help Verizon Wireless customers recognize unknown numbers
Installed on Verizon Samsung i760 w/ WM6.1. Programmed installed - I can look up numbers in the app, but it does not show location on incoming call or call history.
Ideas?
Ok, I will look into it on my friends Verizon Samsung i760. Give me a day or so
