Can anyone assist with some guidance on this.
Since WLM was installed, it does not always update me on new mail not unless I am synced to my pc. Excuse me if am wrong but roaming is enabled hence don't see why it does not work.
Is this a re-installation issue with Rom OS or WLM application.
Any idea would be great!

I get the same with my Windows Live/Hotmail account. Even if I leave my data connection live, I still have to go in and select send/receive to get the latest state of play. Were you expecting 'push email' with Hotmail/Windows Live because I don't think that's offered - well I've not found how to do it with Hotmail.

I have no problem with Windows Live. Get to the options for the Account:
Messaging screen->Menu->Options
Select the account. Tha first screen lists 1 through 8 the WL options. Select Sync Schedule. Under sync frequency, select 'As Items Arrive'.
Save changes!
how the devil did you guys ever get past the 'failed to synchronize' issue I really would like to get my push hotmail working but, once the account is initially set up I can never get the damn application to fully synch again, even with a stripped down account, cleaned email folders ect.

You generally ever only get failed to synchronize when you sync without the being connected to your pc/laptop.
I assume you are using the right version.
I suggest you uninstaller and re-install. Go through the steps normally like you would do on initial set-up. Once your are past there..
You then come into stage two of the problem.

Sorry you all are having trouble. "Push" e-mail works 100% fine with Windows Live Mail on my Tilt. As it's been reported, use "As Items Arrive" as the sync frequency.
I use a version of WL that has Messenger still in it, and I find that as long as Messenger is logged in, my Mail syncs flawlessly.

My email also " pushes " flawlessly. Unfortunately my tilt also remains constantly
connected and sync'd for this to happen, thus killing my battery by 6 pm
everyday. On days that I know I will not have access to a charger I have to
shut off my push email as a battery conservation method
mine also works flawlessly well almost, i can get the inbox folder to update, but not any of the folders i have set up?
any ideas?

OK folks, does anyone have any recommendations for Gmail push mail for the Kaiser?
Gmail App: Either adding this to your phone, or using it online on your phone seems to work well, but, unless I'm an idiot, there is no push--you have to check your e-mail manually. That kinda kills it.
emoze: http://www.emoze.com/en/get/index.asp. This is a neat little app that you install on your phone, and it seems to log you into a server that checks your Gmail (or Yahoo, whatever) and then pushes whatever it finds there to your phone. However, this seems relatively buggy and unreliable. One, if it works when you send an email, not long after it will download that sent email to your phone and tell you you have an email. Two, it wants to fiddle with your activesync settings which don't seem to work too well.
mobiPush: At http://www.mobiPush.com. Well, this seems unreliable, or at least, slow as hell. Now, being used to text messages, maybe the speed is normal for push mail, I don't know. Oddly enough, it won't connect to the internet when I have my USB cable plugged in, even though I have "Allow wireless connections" checked in activesync.
mail2web live: http://services.mail2web.com/FreeServices/. I have no idea, I haven't tried it.
Does anyone have any thoughts on these? Other suggestions? Want to point out my glaring errors? Feel free, and thanks!
Do you have issues w/ Imap? I have mine setup to check every 15 or 30 minutes and only keep 3 days of messages on my phone so it doesn't get too cluttered. I dont have the issue of sending an email and having the sent message show up as new when using this manner either. Just a thought/suggestion.
My gmail pushes to kaiser perfectly fine...
It's an option in Gmail you have to set.
Seven

I just found that and set it up, thank you!
What I'm trying to avoid is having the phone check for email, and it seems that with Gmail IMAP you have to tell the phone to check at whatever intervals you want.

When you say it's "an option in Gmail you have to set," can you be more specific?
It seems that by setting up IMAP the phone has to check, Gmail isn't pushing mail to the phone automatically, is it? There doesn't seem to be a reason for the phone to check if Gmail is pushing.
Thoughts? And thank you!

Gmail itself seems curiously silent about this one. Especially because it would be a MASSIVE boon to their business...

As it turns out, the USB issue was a different issue all together. That's just Activesync being kinda crappy. D'oh!
That doesn't make mobiPush suddenly awesome, just that it had nothing to do with them. Heh.
what about Flexmail? It has IMAP IDLE support which will function like push email. If you set up the Gmail IMAP account under the program, it should automatically notify you when new emails are received.
Check the Hacking and Development area for ImapPusherService. I haven't gotten it to work on mine yet, but others have had good success. It isn't perfect, but as long as you don't SR very often it should work no problem. Downside, if you do a SR you have to relaunch the program and reenter your username and password.
I was just going to say the same thing having read this thread last night but not replied. ImapPusherService is what you're after. Very fast and works well. It's going to be THE software for pushing email to windows mobile.
FYI if you haven't got it working you should dump the tracking file and send it to the developer but before you do this try putting recent: before your username like this recent:username
and here's the link
http://www.codeplex.com/ImapPusherService
BTW Seven in my experience is poor. Use it if you want an email client that doesn't push but simply checks for email every 5 minutes and takes up memory. Oh wait. pocket outlook does this without taking up extra memory!

Thanks for the heads up, I'll have to check into this, as it ain't free. I must say that gives me a bit more confidence as I bought Pocket Informant recently. That program goes a bit overboard, but it does what they say it will do.

what do you mean check for email every 5 minutes? seven isn't push?
Why use an app? go to your Gmail page and enable pop ( under settings ) Works great for me. I have mine saving 1 weeks worth of emails on the phone, automatically downloading all attachments, as well as updating every 5 minutes.... Never had an issue. I use my gmail rather than my blackberry email from work because the Kaiser handles mail SOOOOOO much better with attachments.
I am using Flexmail as well and found it the best solution so far for push Gmail. Setup was relatively easy and I like the advanced folder management options that Flexmail provides. Also, html formatting is a big plus.
I tried Seven, mobipush, emoze, and mail2web. All of them had some disadvantages such as bulky background client, slow receive/send, instability with other apps, and 3rd party reply-to address (mail2web). Flexmail is well worth the cost as it connects to the Gmail imap servers directly and I typically receive emails in my phone within 10 seconds of it actually appearing on Gmail web-mail.

Thanks for the heads up on this one. As a plus: it's Free, and that's brilliant. It's small, doesn't use up much space, memory, et cetera. However, it only seems to work intermittently, and that's just not worth the trouble.
posted in DCD'd Titan Rom 3.2.5 ROM as well....
Don't know where the error is. Reflashed 3.2.5 three times, same error. Just to put it out there.... anyone using the beta program Seven for pushing email?
Gmail worked before but will not connect from the Gmail shortcut from the login screen. Yahoo and Hotmail shortcuts work fine. Went in to "Other Pop Accounts" and added Gmail there and worked fine.
Note: No issues at all regarding this with 3.2.3
Afternoon,
I finally got round to setting up my gmail account on my vario 3 and actually using it to send and receive emails etc but there is a small problem...
I have set it up to heck from mail every five minutes automatically....however, it doesnt seem to work...i think i have narrowed it down to power settings...
I have the backlight to go off after 10 secs and teh "turn off device" after 1 minute.
After that minute, the pulse that checks for mail doent run untill i do something with the phone to wake it out of standbye...
Is there a fix available for this other than modify my power settings (which i would prefer not to do)
TIA
Matt

Not sure I understand fully but if you want it to truely receive push email, then the data connection must be active all the time... and that uses power, lots of it. When you think about it this makes sense because how is the phone going to know when a new email comes in unless it's constantly connected to the internet. I had this setup with my Hotmail account after someone here told me how to do so but reverted back to only checking manually when I wanted it to after I found the battery life fell through the floor. You could make sure other things like bluetooth and wifi are turned off when not being used to maximise a charge but even just having data on all the time makes quite a difference.
from what i understand of push email, it uses a pulse to connect to the net, check for mail and then disconnect again...i have always had my internet connected on my vario and never noticed a increase in battery life when i have spent days without it off (on holiday)
is there not a way to make the 5 minute pulse ignore the screen being turned off?
Window Mobile Push Mail requires an Exchange Server (2003 or 2007 flavor) on the other end.
Without that your just using scheduled pull mail.
The heartbeat/pulse whatever you want to call it does continue to work when the device is in standby if you are using true push mail.

Do you know if that includes Hotmail? If its set up right, my Hotmail emails will be received pretty much instantaneously. Maybe they use Exchange Servers - I don't know if these can be configured for HTTP mail? Even when I had that configured though I still didn't get the Com Manager Microsoft Direct Push Icon to jump to life (it's always been grey).

@hotmail and @live use M$ Direct push, if you set it up for " as they arrive " emails. They do this however by keeping your phone constantly connected = kill battery. I had to shut my push email off to get a full 8hrs out of my battery.
Seven Push Email
Hey maybe you can try this little app called Seven from seven systems. It provides free true push email to WinMo environments. You can configure many accounts for example from hotmail, yahoo, gmail and others. There is a beta that is completely free of charge. Ive been using it for quite a while now (WinMo and Symbian) and Im very pleassed with its performance. Check it out here http://www.seven.com/ and go to the beta program section to download it.

Thats what I've tried in the past and certainly the emails arrive pretty quickly. I don't know if its genuine Push Email or just polling really often though. It also doesn't explain why the Microsoft Push Email icon in Com Manager never does anything other than sit there greyed out.

That highlights when you have a proper exchange account attached for push emial therefore isnt activated when google and hotmail are set up.
M
that 5 minute setting is not called "pushmail". it's calles "i'll ddos my mailserver by asking for mails every 5 minutes"
there are several free pushmail provider arround www.mail2web.com is one of them. they offer a completely free exchange 2003 account with active sync for contacts, tasks, calendar and pushmail
I find that the Windows Live 'As items arrive' option works well, though this seems to be pulling at high frequencies to provide the illusion of Push e-mail. I used to experience temperamental service but now it works flawlessly - as well as friends' blackberry devices. I don't have to keep my phone signed in to Messenger which is often advised to maintain a consistent delivery of e-mails.
I set up the Blackberry Connect service (£5/month) with T-Mobile UK but immediately reverted to using Windows Live (which is free given that you have a data connection) as the BB Connect service acts as a middleman, while Windows Live connects directly (or appears to) to your Hotmail inbox. Messages you read or mark as unread will be viewed as read/unread in your mailbox via a PC, folders can be synched and sent items are synchronised. Perfect for me. The only problem is reduced battery life.
For anyone who tried to use Windows Live 'Push' e-mail and found it to be inconsistent, see here: http://www.windowsmobiletraining.com/Connection/forums/t/2134.aspx.
I was always wondering about the battery too.
So I did a power drain test...
Hope this link helps!

Hello all,
I've now had my TP for almost 3 months and am truly loving it. As you might know, I was a TOTAL noob to WinMo, and in regards to some of the more advanced things, I still am.
This brings me to my topic:
I would like to know if Microsoft Outlook allows for "Push" e-mail on to the TP. If not, what recommended E-mail systems are out there that can push to the TP (i.e. gmail, hotmail, yahoo)?
I am currently using Comcast, and was considering going the Mail2Web route, but it seemed too confusing...I know, I'm a moron. (As for "Seven", I've heard it's not yet stable and it severly taxes the battery.) As such, if anybody who has had success with Mail2Web and the Touch Pro, would you mind posting (or PMing) "step-by-step" instructions on how you got it working?
In either case, I also ask the more experienced people if you can either tell me or direct me to a site which explains the whole concept of Outlook, Exchange, and other elements of Push e-mail.
Thank you in advance,
- WildAce786.

I've heard it's not stable yet in that there is a delay in receiving E-mails and that it places a large drain on your battery.

Although it is still in a beta stage I don't think it unstable at all and emails at least for me being pushed from gmail come within 2 seconds. I can't disagree that it will take a toll on your battery but that's the price we pay for push email. If anyone has any other suggestions I'd also be glad to know.

I use Mail2Web. It's easy to setup, just go to Activesync and add a server and use:
[email protected] (as the username)
ur password
and skip the auto detect the server step and use:
mobile.exchange.mail2web.com (as the server)
**Note-I don't use mail2web as my email, I use gmail. And what I did was set my gmail account to foward to the mail2web account, so I get the emails pushed from both. However, the outgoing email address it shows, when I send a message is the mail2web account.
I've been using this for a while, and it works pretty good. I get email notifications pretty much instantly with this setup, and also syncs my contacts, calendar and tasks online for easy backing up

I would like to keep 3rd party sources as a second option.
First, I would like to know if Microsoft Outlook has the ability to Push E-mail to the TP without severly draining the battery.
Now, if that is not an option, then I would like some clarification on the Mail2Web process.
1) Do I need to register with mail2web first?
2) When you said
go to Activesync and add a server

, where exactly is Activesync located and how can I go about adding a server to it?
I know I sound like a moron, but that's because in this matter, I am.
another option is EMOZE. Its a good alternative to seven if you just care about emails. it really dont do the contacts too well and calendar not at all. again good app if you just care about getting your gmail emails....
Well, after a lot of searching, I went ahead with steb0ne's idea of using Mail2Web LIVE. So far it works great, especially since I've set all my comcast e-mails to autoforward to the M2W account so I can receive them "instantly" as well.
I do have a few concerns though that maybe a few of you guys can address:
1) How does Direct Push actually work? Does it establish a connection every so often looking for new messages?
2) Generally speaking, how much battery life does it drain during the course of a normal 8-hour day if I keep Direct Push active in the Comm. Manager?
3) How good is M2W at keeping SPAM messages away?
I have used seven, mail2web, and the sprint mobile email app. I prefer mail2web over the others. The sprint app is based on the seven email program, but only allows for one email address.
With the seven program I have noticed a noticeable lag in receiving my email. I have sent an email to the an account, received in on my desktop and still dont get it for up to 10min on my phone. With Mail2web I usually get it on my phone before the computer, also the online system they use will save all of your contacts, calender so you can access it from your phone or computer, as well as have an easy backup if you lose your phone, or do a hard reset.
So if I use seven, which they and Sprint say my TP is not supported, does it still send from my email addy or some seven.com email?
for me its all but useless to just get email if I cant send it.
when i try to set up active sync i put details in , user pass server, there is a field "domain" which i cannot get past unless i put something in it , trying to use mobipush and their directions are to leave domain blank but if i do i cant progress on my screen the next button wont highlight, any ideas
Sorry if this has been addressed already, but I thought it relevant so I'm posting it here. I've always used just my GMail account with the native app and it's worked fine so I never really bothered with my Hotmail account since it's only POP mail and I feel that having it poll my Inbox every 15mins drains the battery heavily. But I read this morning that they've just started rolling out the new Windows Live Hotmail Wave 4 today, which includes Exchange ActiveSync support for Push email and Account syncing for Calendar and Contacts.
As it's being rolled out in clusters, my account hasn't been upgraded yet. But I decided to try to set up my account to Push anyways and it seems like it's working fine.
If you want to do the same in the Stock Email App, Add a New Account. Then input your Email Address and Password then hit the Manual Setup button and Select Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and use these settings:
Domain\Username: \username@hotmail.com
Password: password
Server: m.hotmail.com
Use Secure Connection (SSL): Yes
Accept all SSL Certificates: No
hit Next, then make sure the Email Check Frequency is set to Automatic (Push) and then just set your other sync options. (I've only synced mail since my contacts and calendar are synced with GMail).
I'm sure some things will change when my account actually gets the upgrade, but for now, it's basically all I need.
Full Disclosure: I'm on 2.2 and using the stock Email App for this. I don't know how this will impact 2.1 or if you're using K9 or Touchdown, etc. so feel free to post you results.
Just tried your settings with the 2.1 email app and it's no go.
Just tested...
...and it works! Running 2.2 (FRF50).
Even though I rarely use it and that it's mostly used for pretty useless mail it's still nice that it works, finally.

Using stock 2.1 update 1, it works except there's no calendar option(should only available in 2.2), but the server is not very stable, need a few more retry to connect
Must be why it failed then.
2.2 you can add with out having to change any settings.
Do you know the setting to use in any other apps? The stock mail app doesnt allow showing html pictures, so i'd prefer to use k-9 or touchdown...
THANKS!!

Worked for me on 2.1 email app. Now, how do I get a widget to show me the unread count?
Finally MS do something useful to their antiquated service!
Tried it, but doesn't work (yet)
Do you get an e-mail when your account is upgraded?
Guess that is cool if it works, but you can only have 1 Exchange Activesync account on any device...that includes iPhone, WinMo etc...
Has this stopped working for anyone? I'm just getting 'unable to connect to server' now.
Same here, getting the "Unable to open connection to server."-message now.
The wierd thing is that yesterday I got the little yellow bar up top in Hotmail telling me to restart the browser to try the new version (which is what actually got me to try this) but nothing really changed, rollback?

Technically true, but two Push accounts can be accomplished on both Android & WinMo(windows live + exchange)
For us with X10's who are stuck with version 1.6 of Android,
What are the settings to get this working in K9? Has anyone successfully got it working with that mail prog?
Thanks!
Still not working here. Go Microsoft
Small update:
My Hotmail account was upgraded to Wave 4 this morning... Hotmail via Exchange? Still no go. It worked for about an hour back on 17th June, and nothing since.
Well it's all working again now
so its real push service?
if yes i need try this
i wa susing SEVEN but lack of html =(
Yes, it's proper push.
I've had this lg g4 for about two hours now and i have been unable to get my outlook email account to sync. previously on my lg g3 it was as simple as just logging in and it would sync however now on my lg g4 it wont even allow me to add the email account. starting from a factory reset i go into the email application and select Microsoft exchange. from their i attempt to log into my account. then it tells me its checking auto info then after a couple seconds it says in a pop up. setup incomplete. cannot connect to server. check network connection and info, then try again. ( i have tried doing it on my data network and on my wifi both give the same result) then it brings me to the manual setup ( server address domain etc) ive googled and searched and tried different ports and server addresses to no avail and i am dumbfounded as to how i am supposed to sync my account to my phone. another perplexing thing it seems is that even the outlook app from Microsoft on the play store gives me the same behavior saying it cannot reach the server and using exchange services apk. gives the same behavior (gave me error code: status 110). the other odd thing is that i can make it sync just my outlook mail (using pop?) however not my calendar contacts etc. any ideas?
my g3 never exhibited any of this behavior.

1) Did you try setting up exchange email from settings>accounts&sync and then add account and pick exchange? This is how I did and it is working just fine and I can sync my calendar + email.
2) Did you update built in LG Apps? Settings>About phone>Update center> App Updates and see if there are any updates(there is an exchange app which will also be updated)

1) Are the APN settings correct and selected under settings>more>mobile networks>access point names?
2) May I assume that you have data connection if not using WiFi? - you did indicate that you tried both, but just wanted to make sure.
3) Also set up exchange server could have some outage and it isn't the phone's issue. Keep trying, because it does work on my phone.

1. the apm settings are correct and im connected to tmobile lte.
2. ive tried using both the wifi and straight data connection
3 Oh thank god it finally worked apparently it was an outage ( would have been nice to have been told it was) i just got it to connect.
thank you for taking the time to try and help me!
Try to reboot your phone maybe
We have Office 365 at my workplace. When I punch in my email in the Outlook app, I just get: "There was a problem accessing the site. Try to browse to the site again." It was working prior to rooting.
Are you using 2-step authentication? If so you need to use and Create a new app password from your security and password settings under Account Settings on the MS site. This is if you are using the regular email app vs the Outlook.com app from MS.
NM. See you got it working and was outage related. My bad.
Glad the OP was able to get this resolved ... I too use exchange for work and simply wanted to share my preferred exchange email app.

It's a bit pricey, but man is it leaps and bounds better than any other app I've used! Great support from the developers too!
