Garmin Mobile XT evil! - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Themes and Apps

Hello boys...
I have spent last 46 hours (ain't sleep last night ) to set up Garmin Mobile XT on TYTN II and I give up! I have read all of yours advices but still don't get how to put this thing to work. It just won't find gps receiver. All the time the same message.
I've downloaded all necesarry software and replaced all files as i found here but it's not working. I use SCG and Adria route maps. Right now, kaiser is searching and searching for gps receiver...and still nothing....
Does anybody have any idea how to fix this sh't?
Maps are unlocked and I can browse map but it says that I need to type some 8 character code for software....maybe that's why he won't register internal gps receiver ???
Please help me
p.s. sorry for my english i know it's not verry well, but I hope u'll understand me

Thats right, you need the code. Buy or borrow it.

Is it possible to enter a code form a keygen or something? I can't believe that a code would stop me in this ....

update:
Well I have successfully cracked Garmin Mobile XT but I have problem with maps. I want to use existing maps (which I have for a year used in Garmin Nuvi 250) on my PDA. Is it possible now to use those maps? They are already unlocked but for Garmin Nuvi...is that making some difference?
Please help

Yes, it is doable, but what you're asking is illegal. Circumventing copywrited software will get you sent to 'federal pound you in the @$$ prison'

garmin on kaiser

I had a Garmin Nuvi portable nav that my wife broke the other day, I have searched the forums and found that I can install Garmin xt on my Kaiser, I followed all the instructions posted and managed to get it to run on my phone with the built in GPS. On the nuvi my wife broke I was able to hook it up with a usb cable and extract the maps, so my question is since i have the US maps that I extracted from my broken nuvi; is their a way to get Garmin XT to see that file, I had a few failed attempts and was wondering if its even possible or am I screwed and have to buy another nuvi.
thanks guy for any help you can give me.
If you bought the garmin xt software:
http://www.amazon.com/GARMIN-010-11...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1210999005&sr=8-1
it should have come with an sd card with preloaded maps.
otherwise Restrected @ thepiratebay has a 1.23 gb file with a very detailed explanation on setting up garmin xt/us map on a pda. it might help you use the extracted files from your broken garmin. his instructions are too detailed at times but they work if followed. i feel bad that your garmin broke but dont use his file if you dont want to get caught!
I have found Garmin to be quite generous with their in-warranty repair policy and their out-of-warranty repair prices are reasonable versus buying a new GPS or throwing the old one away...

I have a file that I extracted from the broken unit, I was just trying to figure out If I could use that file on the phone, where can I get these instructions (restrected @ thepiratebay) maybe I can at least follow it and apply the file that I have. Also what do you mean get caught, how can you get caught.

The unit is out of warrenty and I didn't want to buy a new one, In short she destroyed the screen.
I tried Garmin XT on my tilt and found it to be very slow. I love it's interface more than TT but had to go back to TT because I would make a turn and Garmin took like 3 seconds to recognize I had turned.
With Mapsource download the maps from the nuvi to your PC and then with same programe upload the desired maps to your phone.

I had the same experience about garmin. Though the great map coverage and good UI, the ultra slow refresh rate make it almost useless and drive me crazy.
same issue with Garmin XT, love the UI but unacceptable refresh rate. I have both Garmin and TT, Garmin comes in handy i.e gas price, hotels, etc.

Gps...software?

This is probably a stupid question but I bought a kaiser last week but I dont know how to activate the gps, I found a program called quickgps to update it but thats about it.
Do I need 3g to use GPS? (I am on vacations here in the US, I would love to use the GPS, but I have no phone service)
Do I have to buy some type of software?
Thanks all!
No question is stupid. Misplaced in the forums maybe but not stupid. Be sure to search before posting.
You don't need to activate the GPS. You do need software. You failed to mention your provider so until you give us more info we can't help much.
QuickGPS is a seperate program that helps you get a lock quicker on your GPS. (Search for a more complete explaination.)
GPS is not part of your phone service so you don't need 3G. Unless, of course, you are using a provider service that also requires you to be connected.
So, yes you need to buy TomTom, iGo, Garmin, or some other software. There are a bunch. Again, search and see what you like.
Hope that helps.
thanks for the answer, helps plenty.
Well actually I have no provider. I bought this phone used so I can use it in my country that is Chile. I am going to unlock it.
Thanks
The bottom line is you need some kind of mapping program. For example an online version like Live Search or Google Maps, and you will need a internet connection to use them. Maps are downloaded as you need them with those two. The other option is to use mapping programs like Tom Tom or IGO. Their maps are loaded to your on board memory and an internet connection is not needed.
Thanks, I will get tomtom
I am clear now
Automapa
Here's one piece of GPS navigation software that worked great with my Kaiser (before it got stolen) it's called Automapa and you can get it here: http://www.automapa.pl/?PEI=220708&lng=EN
it's not free though!

TomTom Navigator

Anyone has tried TomTom Navigator with the raphael?
How did u success?
I've installed it once, but had some problems that made it kinda useless, very bad gps lag and the signal level indicator was missing (IE. saying no signal).
EDIT: First post in this area, yay
TomTom installed just fine and worked fine yesterday, but now it can't find any satelite signals. I had the same problem on the Tilt. Guess I am giving up on TomTom.

HTC TP TomTom works just fine
Hi
Yes I'm using TomTom almost every day to/from work and it works just fine. TomTom had a major update a few weeks ago and after the update it works perfect. I bought the map-version on their website and had some struggle to install it on my phone, but after activate my SD-micro card like TomTom explained on their support site, it works just fine. It has fix on at least 5 satellites in less than 30 sec every time. But it's important to have a radio that gives you that the possibilities to have just that. There is good information to find the best radio in Raphael WiKi forum. TomTom has included traffic information as well, so I use any suggestion in order to avoid blocked streets.
Sincerely
Morten from Oslo, Norway

What version is it? I'm still using one the binary I found here in the forums as I thought there wasn't an official one working yet. (i.e. you have to use application binaries from phones with it preinstalled.)
Mine works fine as well though, but it's always nice to go "official" when you have bought the maps anyway....

After I added the tweaks for TT (mentioned on XDA) TT works much better. Better responce and accuracy. (on MDA Compact IV original T-mobile NL rom)

Mind to show us the way to that tweak? Mine TT7 on my CDMA TP works just fine (it finds satellite quite quickly) but there is some noticible lags.

I ment this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427888
Thanks GVR! Seems like that solved the lagging problem on my CDMA TP! Now TT7 is much faster in terms of updating my location.
And that was my only issue with the GPS here, I was able to get a fix with 9 satellites INSIDE a highrise in downtown in less then 5 seconds.
Awesome! I'm going to save that and hope someone can create a cab for those edits.
Hi guys
I have recently purchased HTC Touch PRO (Raphael) and tried to install TomTom Navigator 7.450 (9028) for Windows Mobile with Tomtom Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB_810_1940 but can not do it.
I mean I have installed TOMTOM all fine but it shows me that maps are not supported by this device
Can some one help me and point me in the right direction on how to install these maps ?
Cheers and many thanks

After a major update true TomTom Home 2.4 I've got version 7.910 (9185). That is the official version and I'm using maps for western and central Europe bought from TomTom. I started with the TomTom CAB application found here in the forum, since there wasn't any to download. But last week the program (CAB) in my HTC TP was updated automatically using Home 2.4. Even my maps are now automatically update once TomTom relizes updates.
I have a signed CAB version in my PC and HTC TP from TomTom now, that came with the update, but I do not know if it can be used by others. Maybe it is signed to be used only with my TomTom maps?
The CAB file is named navcore_7.910.9185_TT_SIGNED.htc_raphael.CAB
I will not upload anything until someone tells me wheter I am aloud to do so and that it will not be a violation in this forum.

Im afraid to say you will not get much help because these are maps that werent purchased or obtained legally, hence it falls under the Warez category. I kindly advice you to stop asking instead before you get banned. Have a nice day
I installed TT7 and ran a test 2 days ago. The result was GPS show me 500 ft ahead
Can I please get a link to this program?
Link to TT7
you can find it in this forum

I think it's Xtreme XL post.
FYI ... TT7 is backward compatible with the 6.75 maps.
Hi, I wasted an entire weekend trying to get TT VERSION 7 to work. I have downloaded TT_Nav_7.450.9028_repack3-vga-black and I have a Southern_Africa_v7.20.1862 map.
After installation, TT goes through the process of choosing lang, speaker etc.It then asks me to download a free map, Southern Africa is not located in the list.
Can somebody please please assist and tell me what I am doing wrong and How can I activate the Southern_Africa_v7.20.1862 map.
Is there a way where I can just use the Southern_Africa_v7.20.1862 map and not download any others? Another issue, How do I activate my GPS unit?
Thanks in advance

Can i create a simulated GPS ?

Hello,
My parents are flying to canada at the end of this months. for their trip i have bought tomtom + canada/usa maps.
I want to make sure that the tytn2 functions well, so i was wondering i could make the GPS think he's in canada so that tomtom will display the map properly so i could test trip planning etc`.
Would appreciate your help on this one.
Thank you.
Paul
Wouldnt that be more of a tomtom question and not a kaiser question?
Don't see why the sats would act any different If it works here, it should work there.
please help me...
it does work here but i dont have any maps to test it out and i want to be certain that it does work in canada
Then talk to TOMTOM.
Sir.
This does not concern any particular navigation software.
I'm merely asking if there's a way to make the built in GPS think it's in canada, by maybe using some sort of program.
Please kindly assist me if y ou can.
Kindest regards,
Some jew.
There is one simple way to do this.... You jsut simpley hack the Canandian sattiliete and change their orbit so it hovers over your house and moce the ones that are over you to somewhere else (anywhere really).. That way your GPS will get signals from the canadian GPS sat's and think you are in CAnada.. Test it out... Then send all the Dat's back to their original orbits ... Be sure to not get caught as hacking international sat's is probhalyl against some rule or law somwhere ...
Hmm I think that requires an iphone to perform the hack.
you guys are very rude.

It's a genuine Windows Mobile Question and I'm surprised at the answers being given here. Someone has a need to test GPS data for a geographic area they're not in irregardless of Software or geographic location, how can they test the data with a genuine Geographic location?
YPaul The answer seems to be a registry hack.
see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms889970.aspx
this is for WM5 and I havent confirmed it on WM6 but it allows the Windows Mobile GPS driver to pull the location from a text file rather than from the GPS device. The locations need to be formated as NMEA strings.

[Q] Maps for my Garmin Mobile XT won't show ...

Hello ~~~
I'm a noob here on this site, so Hopefully I'm posting this correctly (if not, my apologies in advance...) I read through quite a few posts to see if there was a similar question already posted. If I've overlooked one please feel free to direct me to any posts on the subject.
I recently bought a HTC 8525. I owned a Treo Centro before, and ran a copy of Garmin Mobile XT on it. After purchasing my 8525, I tried to load my XT program on my phone. It installed without a hitch, but when I opened it up to run the program and use it ..... I received an error message that showed that my maps weren't present. Is there certain settings that I can change to make them visible, or is there something else I can do to be able to use it on my phone?
Thanks in advance for the help
did you downloaded the map file?
Here's the thing .... it was working with my former phone. I switched carriers recently, so all I want to do is be able to use it on the phone that I use everyday. I think its just a bit excessive to carry around a extra phone (which doesn't work otherwise), just to be able to use my GPS program.
I had never gotten this error message (about the maps being locked) with my other phone. I have the unlock code for it, but I don't know how to get to the area where it can be inputted. I've searched the program (as well as i could), but am unable to find out where exactly to place the code so that I can unlock it. Any help would be appreciated.
Got someone to correct the problem for me. Thanks for the help ........
