Please excuse me if this is covered already, the search function isn't giving me much hope.
My problem is I am unable to select, and then 'drag' to select multiple messages in my text messaging. I am in dire need to clear out my messages (1800+ so far) and really don't want to have to delete them one at a time. How can I enable this again so I can drag and select at the same time?
I'm running Garmin.DK.4.2.Manila if this is of any help.
Thanks in advance,
Frank.
Anyone have ANY suggestions?

hey guys, i've been flashing every 15 mins lately, and everytime i download my emails they all show as un-read.. and its annoying having to go through ~300 emails to mark them as read... so anyway to mark them all as read? thanks
omar
Select multiple emails and then, tap and hold, then select mark as read.
I agree that a select all would be a really nice feature. But if you must download all that old email (I would suggest deleting it off the server before having the phone download it.) Then the best option I have found is to click the first email, drag the stylus down to the last one (selecting all) and then clicking and holdng to mark all as read. Now, if you have already read even one of the emails, mark as read will not be available. Instead you mark all as unread, and click and hold again to find the mark all as read as an option.
thanks for ur help, the selecting all method worked great.. btw i dont wanna delete those messages, they're important, just dont want them all to be marked as unread, thanks
Go here and install InboxExtender.

Works like a charm by adding "Mark All as Read" and "Delete All".
Hi!
I'm quite desperate. I'd like to start SMS on my Kaiser with one or two clicks. So please recommend me how to make my SMS box the default message box (I'm not using MMS, who does anyway... I mean SMS are so much more popular) and/or direct "Compose a new SMS" or so. I also use HTC Home. Ideally I'd like to add a button in HTC Home which would directly open a new SMS (not MMS).
And yes, I did use Google "site:forum.xda-developers.com Kaiser SMS" + various combinations of words "default", "folder", "quick", "fast", "button", "MMS"...
I also tried several registry and other things tweakers.
Thanks
Btw, if you could recommend an application for quick taking notes, something like primitive drawing or so... PhatPad maybe?
um htc home (with the big clock) has it with one click..
I don't really understand your request, but this might be what your after? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2287306&postcount=6
EDIT:
Also,
When viewing your SMS's do: Menu, Tools, Options and Untick "Display account picker when opening Messaging".

Try installing HTC action screen. It will map the left softkey to be able to create new mms/sms/email/apointment/contact, all with one click of the button. That might be what you're looking for.
Hi,
I am also quite desperate for this. I will try to explain what is that we are after.
When composing a new SMS message we need to follow the following steps.
1. Go to Messaging Application
2. Select SMS \ MMS
3. Click on Menu
4. Click on New
5. Now we need to select SMS from the list that shows MMS / SMS / Voicemail.
Now here is the problem, we would like to have SMS as the first option if possible (It helps save the click I need to do, if I am using the D-Pad), Alternatively, a direct link to just start composing a new SMS message directly without going through multiple menus.
Thanks
Manik
Hi,
I missed the link of my previous post (#3). Sorry. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2287306&postcount=6
The link was to a CAB to create a "New SMS" link on the left or Right soft key.

wow, from the main screen I tap 4 times with my finger and I'm good to go. That really isn't that much work.

Well, I click on the the envelope icon (1), then I have to click on "Menu" (2), "Go To" (3), "Text meddages" (4), "Menu" (5), "New" (6). This makes SIX clicks.
for me,
Envelope, menu, new, and sms..
Done.
After clicking the envelope, if it opens to email press the 5 way to the right and it will bring up SMS.

Hi there,
I have tried searching to solve this problem but so far have had no luck. When I send a new message to someone on clicking the send button, it sends then the message then goes back to the reading pane. When I actually reply to a message and push send, the message sends but then the reply box comes up again as if it wants me to reply again! This is stupid and I wish that once i sent a reply it would also close. Would be even nicer if it went back to the home tab but just closing automatically would be nice.
Thanks
This is regular behaviour.
So there is no registry setting that can trick it into thinking a reply is a new message instead so it does close? I really don't get some of the choices made in windows mobile abd even more so why the user is not given more options.
Thanks
thread_sms
I have just been looking at the thread_sms.htm and compose_sms.htm
Is there anyway to figure out what difference between the thread view and the compose view causes the messaging window to close.
I really don't get why it doesn't go away of its own accord.
I'm also assuming no one has figured out how to make the sms send once you get back into reception.

hey there,
i just recently update my att tilt to a new rom that was generously created by someone here. what i notice is the text messaging function lost one thing that i would like back. on the old default rom, if i was to start typing in the name of the person i am trying to send a message, the contact would list a few ppl that would be my possible choice. as of right now i have to go to menu and add reciept and i think that just takes to long. any cabs out there to fix this?
thanks in advance
try this
i had that same problem, but i found out that if i type the name and just hit space, it will show up at the bottom and you can select from a single-line menu and use the left and right d-pad buttons to select your contact without going through the hassle of adding a recipient and all that...
hopefully that helps?
wow that did the trick!
Hi
I new to android. I just wanted to ask, is there a app out there which you can delete sent items in bulk rather than deleting them 1 by 1. Its pain in the A** deleting them manually in seperate threads.
Or is there an option with htc message application client that can allow you
do this anyway? I just can't beleive that an high end market phone as the htc desire hd it doesn't include this as normal, How can HTC have missed this out???
Anyone else with the same issue?
thanks in advance.
P.s App links can be added in this post

Thanks for the reply, appreciated. But I was refering to individual msgs from the multiple threads. Also was refering to all sent msgs to multiple contacts in multiple threads.
Thanks in advance.
