Have got a strange issue with my diamond
touch screen is not working, it seems to be tottaly out of alignment
have tried calibrating again, but the calibration tool just loops around and around, and doesnt complete
i had this issue the other day but was fixed after calibrating the screen
any ideas what it the fix is, or should i send to htc to repai under warranty
i have tried searching for an answer, but cant find anyone who has had similar issue
Digitizer issue?
maybe have a look at this

Hi,
I am in the UK and found my touch screen started responding on the other side of the device, then it wouldn't respond at all.
It was pretty much all over the place until I called them up.
They sent a courier, collected the phone on the Thursday, returned it Wednesday so 5 day turnaround collecting and returning to my home.
I would strongly suggest going through them
re
i heawe same problems with touch, bath only fix in service ,it takes 2 weaks 2 repeair ....g.b.
A refresher - I had the same problem, but it turned out to be very simple to fix - dust around the screen.....
It is possible that between the screen and the cover there will sneak some dust and other particles. They will exert the pressure over the screen, fooling the touch-sensor. You need something thin and preferably firm (like bit of plastic screen) and go around the screen - GENTLY - there's electronics inside!
I did it, and all returned to normal... And I was scared that I will be forced through the whole "servicing" proces....
Anyway - worked for me!

Hi,
I've had my Diamond for a bit more than 2 months now.
Recently I had an odd problem with it.
The touch screen seems to be busted.
The display works fine. However, it doesn't respond to any of my touch commands and it seems like someone is touching the screen randomly, as in, random clicks on the screen.
The hardware buttons work fine, it's just the touch interface of the screen.
First I assumed it was a ROM related problem, as this happened just after I installed Shine On. So I went back to the original ROM again, but the problem persisted. Then I tried another ROM, but same problem!
Therefore I suspect the hardware.
Am I right to assume that the screen is built up of several layers? Such as the TFT screen it self, the touch part, protective glass part, etc.?
This was a week ago and I've been using my old HTC since (waiting for a reply from HTC customer service which haven’t replied yet! ). However, three days ago I tried the Diamond again, and it seems to work flawless..!
So, I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this intermediate problem? Or if anyone has suggestions what could cause this problem?
Thanks for reading
Same s*it!
Hey mate.
I am experiencing the same problem as you do. The touchscreen does not respond or not accurate enough oder in a completelly different ponint than is poninted at. Readjusting screen helps for a while, soft-reset helps for a while. Sometimes it goes away without doing anything special. Did HTC finally answer your E-Mail?
I'd like to have this fixed as soon as possible.
Edit: I noticed that this problem disappears at once if TF3D is deactivated. Let'S see about that....
Hi,
even though there are probably several other threads concerning this issue, this seems to be the most recent one.
Do you use a (genuine?) screen protector?
I do.
I suppose this problem is caused by the tremendous heat* when the device is used and a screen protector that had been applied wrongly.
I might have applied the screen protector wrongly so there are a few very small (almost invisible?) bubbles (i.e. hot air expands(?) - I don't know the technical term),
since I had to remove the screen protector once because of dust..(does the glue lose its stickiness?)
I don't know if it's because of the bubbles, but I'm quite sure it's because of the screen protector.
Has anyone noticed this behavior without using a screen protector?
(I'm going to buy new screen protectors if neccessary, but I don't want to pay ~25€ if it's not)
*= I've adjusted my screen when my device was "cold".
Edit: I've probably found the reason for this issue: there's a deformation (caused by HTC) on the bottom of the screen(at the end of the screen protector) - there's a hole without glue (but air) - everything works fine while closing the hole by pressing the screen protector on the surface of the device.
I'm going to upload a picture later.
Edit2: The picture is now online. The fact that there's a hole isn't new of course, but no one seems to have linked these two issues so far.
(Correct me if I'm wrong)
The hole wasn't that big first but it grew because of all the testing
I've cut the lower part of the screen protector off now until I have a new one, although it doesn't look that great anymore..
Edit3: Ok, it's the hole and not the screen protector - I guess I have to get a new Diamond from my provider since it's a manufacturing defect..
Hi folks,
I have accidentally made the horrible mistake of letting my HTC TyTn II sit in a small puddle of water over night. That'll teach me for keeping my phone and glasss of water right next to each other on my nightstand.
Anyhow... It actually still works, which suprised me. However, 2 elements are not working. Specifically:
Touch Screen is not working. The LCD DOES display the image just fine, it just does not respond any longer to TOUCH.
The reset button seems to be completely non-functional.
After I got over the initial "oh &$*!" moment, I did some searching here and about for answers. I found some references to just replacing the digitizer, which I can get quite cheap on ebay. However, I also read that it might be a mainboard problem, in which case I might as well just replace it.
So, thoughts?
Also, here is the eBay auctions I was looking into. They seem reasonable? (if I decide to go that route)

Thank you much for the couple moments of your time.

i got my td2 just about a week. yesterday suddenly the touchscreen didnt work at all anymore! i was taking some pictures and then it stopped to do anything on the touchscreen. i rebootet the device few times but no go - even removed the battery but didnt work anymore. then i left the device a few minutes without battery and when i tried it again it worked. this scared me a little... because without touchscreen u are really lost with this phone.
ohwell.. i hope this doesnt happen again. but i actually got another strange thing here:
if i look into the screen from the side.. i can see a strange glimmer sometimes. it looks like oil in water... it does glimmer a little and its not visible all over the screen but the part does even grow. i noticed this yesterday and it was like 5cm long and 2cm width. but now its almost on the full screen and it looks like the effect when u press on a LCD screen really hard. but it appears without doing anything.. does anyone have that too on his TD2??
same problem here. its the device of a friend. one week old. but we didn´t managed it to bring it back to life again...
no we will try a hard reset.
battery was out for ar least 30min wizhout success.
even noticed some glimmer at the screen. hard to describe. like liquid between sreen and screen protector.... but only on those parts were we tapped on the screen...
no we try the hard reset - i´ll report how it worked.
somebody else with that problem here?
ok we tried a hard reset - no success. screen is dead. no way to setup the device. no reaction of the touch screen. will go to the o2 shop tomorrow and bring it back...
wow.. at least im not the only one. my screen is working again but the glimmer didnt go away. also today appeared one more defect on the screen - it looked like the protection plastic is moving, but then after some tapping on the screen it went away again. very strange!
the glimmer looks indeed like a liquid between the screen and the protection. sometimes its almost not visibe and sometimes its really good to see. i wonder whats going on here..
hey i just found something out!!
my screen has something like little bubbles under it when i do touch it on a certain area. when these bubbles are visible.. my screen does not work anymore!! then i can clean the screen a while with a tissue or my tshirt or whatever and the bubbles go away - as soon they are not visible anymore the touchscreen works again!!!
im tryin now to give that phone back and get a new one. i dont even have that phone 1 week!!
I have a Diamond2 with the same frozen screen issue. The screen just did not react to any tap. Soft reset may put it back to work again, but the symptom repeated after some time. Even hard reset cannot rectify the problem. It is hardware defect. Fortunately it is one week old and still within the one-to-one exchange policy and I can take back to the shop I bought push for an exchange. Having email HTC and they just ask for service check and refuse to exchange a new one. If you conduct a Google search of freeze screen, you may locate a lot of touch screen issue but only very limited solution. I suggest you to have the device exchange than going to repair.
Does it look like this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2557175#post2557175???
Hi, I am experiencing the very same problem. Touchscreen stopped working. Taking out the battery for 5 minutes fixed it. But there is a oily liquid now beneath the screen. My device is 5 days old, this should not happen
Taking it to the shop on monday.
we tried everything but without any succes...
today we gave back the phone. it was within the one week limit. but there is another limitation: 15 minutes airtime! i said to the guy in that shop: when he can show me the airtime, we keep the phone - because than the screen seems to work again... )
but no problem they exchanged it against a new one! good service, very customer friendly at o2!
I encountered this one day after getting my unit. I got a replacement. It seems two layers of the touch screen is "stucked" together. Use scotch tape to lift up the area and and the touch screen responds. But the next time you press on the screen it will get stuck again.
So get it changed.
wow
what a great idea... never ever thought of that... *lol* but when you buy such a sophisticated mobile it looks very unsophisticated to lift your screen with scotch-tape everytime you tapped on the screen...

kinda yes. but not that big and after cleaning phone with a tissue it goes away. i will get a replacement in a few days.. hope this doesnt happen again - but shop told me it seems that there are a few ppl with that problem on td2!! :-(
ok i did get a replacement now and all is fine again. but i think i know what caused the problem.
actually i had the phone always in my back pocket of my jeans. this is not a very good idea when you sit down. the phone gets some pressure on the screen and my screen actually was lowered into the case a little bit. you can see this from the side. that did cause the air under the screen and also the oily liquid that sometimes appeared. so i think the screen felt into the phone case and this was causing the problems. my new phone does not look like the screen is lowered - its totally flat. so i will take more care and not using back pocket of my jeans again to put the phone in

I hope you are joking... I mean one can't be serious about carrying a touch screen device in a back pocket of his jeans. Are you even surprised about what happened to it? In fact I'm rather surprised you got a warranty replacement. There is a thing called User manual that comes with the device a it is saying 'Always remove the device from the pocket of your trousers prior to sitting down'. Yu are really lucky indeed you got a replacement....
well aint a mobile phone made for putting in the pocket? this is not my first phone and i never had such a problem even with a touchscreen phone. its not like i did sit on it with full force or something.. just had it in back pocket during cardriving. you can easy do that with any other phone without breaking it...

that's exactly what's it's not - it's a pda phone and it kind of makes sense to treat it differently from normal mobiles which can withstand all sorts of abuse. also if they ask you specifically not to do something because it can damage the device - and you do it and then you are surprised it happened. it's written there for a reason. they surely know that for many people it will be their first pda phone so they don't have much clue how to treat it...
Hi guys I've got a HTC Ignito and Id like abit of advice the touch screen on my phone seems to be acting up as u can press on the left hand side and it will detect pressure but only the top and bottom 5mm will work properly the rest it will activate what is on the opposite side or will do nothing.
when Ive tried to calibrate the screen it just constantly repeats the calibration process non stop but if you do a hard reset it will start working properly but as soon as you reset phone it messes up again.
Any one any ideas is the touch screen broken or is it another problem its got the stock rom on it
Sorry for the bad structore of post feeling abit tired as been up for hours annoyed at my phone.
I noticed a simmilliar issue starting a couple of weeks ago. Looks like the X-axis of the digitizer starts to die. In my case it only detects touches in Y direction, but not in X.
So far it only appeared under hot condition like sunlight or constantly running device in craddle. After cooling down it always came back to normal behaviour (so far)
Cheers bud for the reply. Its weird tho as its same as yours as it will detect the Y axis movemnt as when i hadnt hardrest it you could minamise the clock but that was it. Simalar problem happened to my grandads orbit and acted like urs then got progressivly worse over a few months.
I wonder if anybody knows if it would be sortedby getting a new touch screen.
HI...
Hopefully we are not the only ones... But yeah my MDA Compact (Diamond on T-Mobile UK) is doin the same thing. Like you guys, mine has staterd to get worse, before it was just a few edge icons that i could'nt press..but now sometimes pressing the screen anywhere does nothing, all i can do is scroll up or down.
Axelpix... you make a good point about temp...mine gets quite warm when charging on the USB. I will try to see if this is causing the problem.
Any info on fix would be greatly welcomed.
PS i'm running the Windows 6.5 Energy ROM. 14/07/2009
Hi guys least im not alone I think the only way to fix this problem might be to replace the touchscreen im just looking to see how much it would cost to buy a new one and if its easy to just replace the screen or if it comes attached to the lcd screen like on the orbit
continuous request to calibrate the screen
Yes, I have experienced this when i switched the handset on for the first time after purchase but it went off when I forced a restart to the handset.
This may be a problem beyond the scope of android, but seeing as I'm running it, I thought I'd try here first.
I've noticed that the lower left hand side of my screen has a "dead spot" where touch is simply not registered. To illustrate, I went to screen calibration's test screen and drew a straight line along the edge of the screen. (See Attachment)
I've tried recalibrating the screen (manually and resetting to default calibration) as well as wiping data and reinstalling the system. Reinstalling the system worked once, but then the problem came back and subsequent reinstalls did not fix the issue.
I'm running Incubus26jc super froyo [RLS 12] on the 15-07-10 340X480 Froyo Kernel.
Anyone else seen anything like this? As far as I can tell, the problem is not getting any worse. Currently, it's only a hindrance when trying to use keys in that region, but I can work around it by switching to and from landscape. It's a bit of a hassle, so I'm hoping someone may be able to shed some light on the situation.
I was sure it was hardware until the system reinstall fixed it, but am now baffled as I can no longer replicate the fix.
I have not tried reinstalling the kernel but will at some point in the next day or so. I'd like to avoid switching back to WM to check if the problem persists, but may have to... we'll see. Doing everything I can to make this phone last until the Incredible month of February when I'm up for an upgrade.
dont know the issue resolution... but i have the same with my touch vogue.. and in the same 'area' apparently as well.
hard for me to hit the 'a' key on my keyboard. hehe
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one... anyone else?
Bottom right corner for me... I was able to calibrate around it but it took a few tries.

The sensitivity across my screen was inconsistent some time ago. I found that years of my abuse had taken a tole on the exterior of my phone. It eventually got worse and I bought a new housing (with a new digitizer) on ebay for a reasonable price. If it is hardware then it really isn't that hard to fix if you like taking things apart.
If you're sure that win mo accepts input from that part of the screen then nevermind my post. I would play with a painting app though and investigate the hardware further.
I may be talking a little out my a$$ with this part but.. is it possible that in calibrating your screen the os may change it's settings on how hard you have to press and such also. that may be how you got it working.
In any case, my investment in a hew housing was well worth it considering how modern my old phone has become thanks to the developers here.

In my case, no - when drawing a straight line down or across the screen, the line starts 'moving' away from the stylus (like the picture in the OP).
Gah... now it's shutting itself off randomly and the dead spot has grown. Not good at all.
Yeah, mine was better for a while then 'slid' again. I ended up swapping the digitizer with my other Vogue and things are back to normal.
Sent from my Full Android on Vogue using XDA App
I have another vogue, but am weary of doing anything like that. How hard was it to get done?
All you need to do is switch the front half of the housing rather than the digitizer itself- it's not hard. There's a teardown guide somewhere in the forum, Google Vogue teardown and it should be at the top.
Sent from my Full Android on Vogue using XDA App
The only thing that worries me is that my spare vogue exists because it was dropped in a muddy puddle. I'm hoping the water damage isn't too bad. Guess we'll just have to see.
it is really annoying
I have the exact same problem and I too thought it was a hardware issue till I saw this Thread. I was ignoring it till two days ago when it started really bugging me. Now, I don't even need to press any button and it automatically gets pressed around the curve and I have a google search box there, so it keeps on searching for eee or sss randomly and started draining my battery. Is there a proper fix for this?
I thought I'd chime in too... I could never seem to calibrate the touchscreen properly in either Android or Debian. Changing the screen resolution (i.e. msmfb scaling) seems to have no effect, whether it's 240x320 or 640x480. Any area within 5mm or so of the edges of the LCD will register as the edge, making "A" and several other keys on the virtual keyboard impossible to hit. Passing calibration values to the kernel didn't seem to fix anything, but it's possible I was using them the wrong way...
i have the same kind of problem on my Kaiser... i think its realted to hardware... either the housing or the digitizer...
I am experiencing the same problem on X10 mini pro. the same screen spot exactly, i have to try very hard to get z or x or shift to work. Sometimes when I try locking the screen and unlocking it back, it works.
update
so after a very long time with this problem i decided to change the digitizer and problem is gonne. visualy the broken digitizer had nothing wrong with it. The fix was fairly easy though, there is no glued parts involved into getting a new digitizer on the u20i.
Touch Screen
I just bought a brand new Cubot One and it looks more than perfect! It has just a little problem with the touch screen ( I think its the software, need ROM change). There is a dead line on the right side of the screen that touch doesn't work at all. Any solutions? Anyone faced that before? Can I fix it myself or do I have to send it back for replacement? Is there any video or guide that shows its done?
I uploaded a video on YouTube to show the problem but i cant post it yet.. (new member)
You can write "Cubot One touch screen problem" and it's the 1st one.
Thank You!
