Okay, i have been reading through and through on xda, and i want to flash my tilt. This will be the first time. I want a fast ROM, and one that is not bare bones, but has some stuff. I have been looking at Sleuth v3.0. And actually, being a noob, I really don't know exactly what I want. I just want a fast ROM that i can add free GPS (like Google Earth), use email express, office, and have a User Interface similar to the iphone. bigger buttons, no bloatware. I have an Itouch, and have had it for quite sometime, but there is only so much you can do with it in terms of software.
I have looked, and maybe i passed over it, but instead of recommending Sleuth v3.0, is there some nice post I can go to that explains all the roms, or maybe even recommended roms to use, with screenshots and such.
thanks a bunch!
Check this out. http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser_Cooked_ROMs
Most of these ROMS are built for speed, so there is not too much crap loaded in them. If you look at each individual ROM the chef has listed all of the included apps. If you want to add something just do it after the flash, you can still customize.
By the way, This link was in the Wiki, which I hope you read through before you flash your device.
Q-mobile 1.2
beware, once you try it, its really hard to stick with another rom!
Your search has ended!
You definitely have to try ROMeOS v4.1. I have tried almost every ROM released on this site for the past 6 months and I have to say this is by far the best. It will run everything, it is extremely stable, and comes pre-installed with the htcclassaction video drivers! It included the best file management/ftp/registry program available, and the best thing of them all its VERY fast!
the best advice is to try them all and pick which one you like the most. for me, I constantly roll back to Laurentius v9 and Hyperdragon III
Im am a noob at flashing as well and have been seriously considering Romeos.
Does it come with a radio?

Hi guys,
tell me, is it not possible to have a normal blackstone rom with the new Manila? I do not understand why there is always the wish to cram the roms. The more the roms are crammed the more bugs we get.
In the meanwhile, I am really willing to pay for it, if it is just possible to get a slim rom, with the new manila, without bugs. And, if possible, in German, but that's not that important.
I'm about to cry
The problem is that even Windows Mobile is not free of bugs. And of course the beta of the new manila isn´t free of bugs at all.
the chefs are trying to get rid of the bugs out of windows mobile or manila

The other problem is the new manila requires many other packages to run properly. And some Blackstone packages don't work with the new manila etc.
This is why you never see just a cab to install the new manilla.
Ah, I see, thank you guys for the background infos. Now, I can understand the problem better.
Well, that's really a pity. I guess, there won't be a version for the HD by HTC or do you know something about that?
I also thought of exchanging my HD with a TD2, when it comes out within the next weeks. But I don't know yet.
Another question: Do you know, where I can find the background of the new manila, so that I could at least use that!?
Thank you!
try onkolog rom's. it's bug free and it's lite. for every other progs that missing in the rom you have cab's on his post. It's the fastest rom around here also.

Well, that's the one I am using right now, but there is the rotation bug in HTC album, which, for me at least, is very annoying. The pictures do not rotate although I move the device!

It's not a bug - this is how the new album works. It actually rotates pictures, but not by g-sensor, it just fits them automatically. On the other hand, it's much faster than the previous one.
I'm going to ask what is probably a VERY ridiculous question and I apologize. I've been busy tweaking Home 2 so much that I've apparently missed the boat on the WM 6.5 stuff.
All of it looks great. Phenomenal job everyone. But (and here's the stupid question), how do you even get started with this UI people are obsessing on? I have a Kaiser. There are a couple of cooked ROMs using it, I know. But, let's say, I want to use a ROM where it's NOT cooked in already, is there a way to use, say, PDACorner's ROM with Titanium. I can't find a simple cab install anywhere.
Just curious. Thanks.
Eric
And one other thing
I did try a ROM with it built in, but instructions for adding applets is rather vague. Simply installing doesn't seem to do the trick and plug-in installer wasn't working. Some help there would be nice too.

It is part of Windows Mobile 6.5 , and since WM 6.5 has not been officially released for use yet, the only place you will find Titanium is in cooked roms based on leaked builds. MS will also never release it as an add on cab.
There are many threads currently going on how to edit the cpr files add plugins.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=504324
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=506787
Thank you for responding. I've tried a couple of ROMs where it was already cooked in, but they were pretty slow and never felt all that stable. Hence, the question about a cabbed version to use in an already trustworthy ROM.
I had previously gone through both of those threads, but they seem to be more about skinning and developing new plug-ins than on how exactly to install them.
Either way, it seems that WM 6.5, for now, is much like the Android for Kaiser thread in that if you aren't following constantly, it'll slip right past you and take forever to catch up.
Thanks for your help.
EDIT: Somehow I missed the word "beta".
I have tried so many roms and now im not sure which one to try so i can have all three in one.
I`m currently using sex1..
Is anyone using a rom that fits the bill that they could recommend?
choose for yourself by flashing is there another way to tell you
you want 6.5 and manila and panels right? well choose itje, agent_47, shadowmikes, timur, nrg. i don't understand what your really saying here. you can just flash one of their roms and add whatever panels you want. are you asking opinions/preferences? i think itje and nrg is pretty good. just flash and try it all out i mean do you really need someone to tell you? should you flash and see for yourself. the main question here is, did you need to start a new thread for this?

Thats why i asked the question. I know you can add panels but like i say they dont work with all the roms, and i have tried a few.
I didnt want anyone to tell me ought i was asking for advice or other peoples opinions i can work things out myself i am an adult!
As for if i should start a thread, why not there are a lot worse posts than mine on here.

well the only thing i can say is if one doesnt' work move on to the next 6.5+manila rom until you'v got all the panels you like to work. have you tried installing the new r3 panel manager or your still using the r2 manager. some roms include the r3 panel mangaer already and if that didn't work you can try the r2 and see if that works with your favorite panel before you start over with next rom.
you should find r2 panel manager in post #2 by smaberg in his touch x roms.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=493848
wc also has 6.5+manila as well. try nrg energy rom same thing.
ok about the new thread thingy. no ones gonna say who can or who can't start one, its up to any member. it just you'v probably had the answer before you even started it, all trials and errors. but of course you wanted some peoples opinion, the only way to get that opinion is to start a thread obviously. look im only half with ya on this ok? better than not at all

Ta for your help i`m using shadowmikes rom at the moment and all is well so far..
Is it possible to have Manila on a panel? I'd like to have Titanium on the WM Today screen and Manila on a panel.
I know that there were once a cab that made a panel if you had installed "manila" with a cab.

New update:
1. Add 826x (one of the fastest manila rom!), twinge's rom (very light!)
2. Update EnergyROM and Christian's ROM to the latest version.
3. I recommand 826x! it's really fast and stable. Such a pitty that i haven't tested it before, although a lot of friends has recommended it in my thread.
4. It's good to see that the performance of Energyrom increased, especially during the GPS loading test. Maybe due to the new kernel?
5. Suprisingly to see that christian removed manila from his panels!
6. I tried to test some other ROMs, but failed. Including: Russell Eclair XPure (I couldn't donwload) and X2 Rom Port (my X1 just hang-up after flashing).
NO more updates. I hope I can continue this tough job, as long as it's still useful for some X1 users. Well, since a lot of chefs are quitting X1, I don't know how long will my job be still useful?
--------------------------
9-5
New update:
1. Added Laurenti's ROM. This is the LITEST ROM I've ever tried! It's only 55MB! As we all know, EnergyROMs are always larger than 200MB, and even SGXU's ROMs or X2 ROMs are over 100MB. So, Laurenti cut a lot of functions, even including CHOME and Connection Setup (which means you have to setup your connection by yourself). It has the best performance!
2. Added Xara V1.2. This ROM is the extension of Jerpelea's X2 ROM. Well, it's performance is obviously better.
3. Updated EnergyROM and Valkyrie 7.3. It's great to see Agent's coming back!
4. Used GPS software (called Kailide or KLD, which I use very often in mainland China) to test the performance of the ROM. It's much easier than using SPB benchmark. One more thing is, I always use File Explorer (WM build-in) to test the open speed of Windows Folder. If I use Resco File Explorer, it'll be much faster.
5. Divided all the ROMs into two categories: with Manila, and without Manila. So, I compared the parameters within each category. It's much easier for you to compare and choose.
6. NO more updates. I've tried to download and test 826x ROM, but failed.
---------------------
7-17
As I've promised, I'm updating my thread within July.
1. Updated all the ROMs to the latest version.
2. Added Jack's ROM according to many suggestions. I found that this is the FASTEST ROM with manila, even faster than X2-010b without Manila! And it also has build-in support for Chinese Simplified, Chinese Triditional and Japanese. So, it is a good ROM!
3. Added Genesis's ROM. Thanks a lot to GCCF65, who gave me the data (I didn't test this ROM by myself).
4. Due to some reasons that I haven't found, the SPB Benchmark compare function is not working, in my laptop as well as my desktop (maybe due to some changes of the service from SPB?). So, I have changed the performence test method from 'SPB benchmark' to 'open windows folder speed'. I know it's not very accurate, so if someone know a better (and easier, please understand that I'm only an individual person) method, please tell me. Otherwise, this seems to be the only choice.
5. I'm very sorry that I couldn't test ever ROM people request. I'm just doing my best. So, for those ROM I missed, I'll try them in the future (but WM6.5 only)
-------------
5-22
1.Updated all the ROMs to the latest version. X2-R3AA35-005 is still under development, so the result is not so good.
2.Added Christian's ROM. I found that it's very interesting! Both tilewave and manila are available, as panels! I'm now using it for my X1, and hopefully it's stable. And, the kernel version is rather old, so Christian should update it soon.
3.Added 'memo' to each ROM, describing some other useful information.
You my find the attachments for all the results.
China1
------------
4-11
Updated X2 ROM to latest 006 version.
It seems that this ROM is really fast! The bootup time is much shooter than the others (without Manila of course), and SPB Benchmark is also good. The only problem is that, it's not stable (as always).
China1
----------
4-9
Added Touch-IT ROM as so many ppl required.
But the result seems not so good (as well as my personal experience). What's more, 2 test functions of SPB Benchmark even failed. I don't know the reason.
There are some other small modifications. Please see the attachments for detail.
China1
----------
4-6
I have updated the ROM comparasion table, as following:
1. New ROMs. EnergyROM: 4/1; Valkyrie: V6.3; UnOff: Xperialeo & Xperialeo Win7; X2: 016 (Not updated). I'm sorry that I couldn't find the latest Touch-IT ROM for test.
2. Add bootup time. According to the results, EnergyROM is the fastest (actually not much difference).
3. Benchmark improved. This should be the most interesting field of the table. After analysing SPB Benchmark (it is still one of the best benchmark software on the market, even quite old), I found out that:
3.1. The indexes are the higher the better.
3.2. The 'SPB Index' is useless. It's just a weighted sum of all indexes. So, we should pay more attention on the subindexes.
3.3. The benchmark results are not stable. When I did the same test for the same ROM in the same enviorment, I found out that the results are different! So, I did 2-3 times of test for each ROM, and used the most reliable results.
3.4. The benchmark results are not much related to the applications installed. I have done the same test for same ROM, on a clean ROM and a loaded (software, SMS, contacts, call logs, etc) ROM, and I found that the loaded ROM is only 2% lower than clean ROM!
3.5. Here are some descriptions of sub indexes:
3.5.1 CPU: almost the same for every ROM (that's for sure).
3.5.2 file system: It seems that Valkyrie V6.3 is so fast! And the rest ROMs are almost the same. The advantages of Valkyrie are on write and copy of multiple small files. So, I think maybe this is due to the file cache or buffer setting. I think chefs should know this.
3.5.3 Graphics: Again Valkyrie V6.3 trumph! And the rest ROMs are almost the same. I think it may be related to the driver or something. I think chefs should know this.
3.6. After benchmarking, I have run another test by my own eye. I used file explorer to open the '\Windows' directory, and see the time cost. I found out that Valkyrie V6.3 didn't have too much advantages. So, I think the benchmark results are only for reference. But anyway, I still think they are still some kind of useful.
3.7. My test method:
3.7.1. SPB Benchmark V1.6.
3.7.2. Copy SPB Benchmark to Main Memory
3.7.3. Remove SD Card, Turn off phone
3.7.4. Restart
3.7.5. Skip Word Test & IE Test
3.7.6. Unplugged
You may find the attachments as all the benchmark results and comparasion table restuls (0406).
Finally, I'd like to say thanks to all the chefs. And, I'd like to say something for myself. I'm only an ordinary guy, who's doing this for the convienence and reference for someone who might be in need. I'm not related to any chef, I'm not a phone lab, and I have completely NO personal benefit or donation for doing this. So, if my work could help you, that's good; if not, or even 'mislead' you, please forgive me, since I have no intention for that.
Cheers,
China1

First of all, I'd like to thank so many cooks that contributed so much for our X1. Without you guys, my X1 was just any ordinary phone.
I found that quite some people here were asking for the information about ROMs, which one is better? Stable? Fast? Less power consumption? etc. Since I have used some ROM series (chaning frequently, as you could imagine), I'd like to share some personal opinons here.
After a whole day working, I made a Comparison table, as you can find in attachments. Please remind that, in EnergyROM and Valkyrie columns, the first number means NO Manlia, and second number means WITH Manlia.
About Benchmark Result (also in attchments):
I couldn't find out a proper benchmarking software. The only 'famous' one is SPB Benchmark V1.6, which was made almost 2 years ago. I'm not sure whether it is still accurate or not, since M$ has already upgraded their OS from WM 5.0 to WM 6.5. The funny thing is that, I don't know whether the numbers mean the higher the better, or vice versa (there is no . According to my user experience, I think the result is: X2 > UnOff X1.5 > Valkyrie /EnergyROM (No manila) > Valkeyrie/EnergyROM (with manila). If someone is the expert of this, or knows some great WM Benchmarking software, please let me know.
Finally, I'm not a cook or expert on this. Definitely I might make some mistakes, and that means NO offense to any cooks or personnals. I just want to contribute some efforts to someone might in need. I also want to use this for the decision of my X1 ROM.
Cheers!
Dude, this is great! Thank you for your report! I think it's very helpful.
There might be the usual nannies who will get on your thread and tell everyone that they have to try ROMs themselves, but just ignore their cackling.
Anyway, I hope you consider expanding this to a few other ROMs, and updating it regularly. You'll definitely get a lot of followers!

yeah, its awesome。 Maybe next time u can add Christians rom in to da list
Energy ROM>ALL
Not that there is anything wrong with the other roms, I just like energy rom the best!
please add a 6.1 rom like touchX 10.9
all 6.1 roms seem to perform a lot better than 6.5 ROMs

If you are going to do comparison, you should also do all comparison for 6.0 wm app and 6.1 app. it will be very miss leading just to do benchmark for witch roms and chefs is fast when the day use is sod and hang when you install your app. Please do a comparison also for the exiting app before saying which is best.
What the use of fast benchmark when can't use for your wm app to help you with your work. Might as well get an iphone or wait ........

Have you thought about using the SKTools benchmark? I think it's fairly accurate because when I overclocked my X1 the performance and benchmarks increased as expected. And a lot of people on here are familiar with that tool.
