Sorry it won't help but I made the same mistake, I DL a XDAII rom thinking it was a IIs in order to change the language rom of my Q9090, and now it is dead, I presume that you got serial written on the screen no?
If so it is not too bad, the only thing is that you NEED to find a ROM for your XDA IIs, if you are lucky enough and that your XDAIIs is in language where you can find ROM PACK update on the net, well just dl it and install the ROM update, but you may have the operator PB, for that just have a look to the thread in this section who talk about how to change your XDA language... it may help
But if you are French, like I am, living in a Country where the prehistoric GSM network doesn't work like JAPAN, you got only one chance is to send a SD to a friend, where he will dump its rom, and send it back to you...
Wooo...
I living in Uk and currently using o2 services. My dead XDA IIs now display.. something like "Serial v 2.06".. So, was that possible to carry my XDA IIs to their retail shop and ask them to dump a new ROM? Or was it any link and procedure to be followed to get myx XDAIIs kicking live again..
Cheers

Where did you get your xdaIIs?
Uplands ..
I got it from UPLANDS shop online. So..huws? Was there any ROM spared online for XDA IIs available at the moment
if you have "serial" screen, it is not that bad...
just download correct ROM upgrade for your device, cradle it and run the upgrade .
...search this forums how to do it. there are tens of these how to posts...
buzz
Could you give me a good link..Which one suit the XDA IIs
Thanks dude anyway, It's my first time have a hand on this PDA stuffs.. and I really dunno those stuff with relate on how to upgrade, playing with ROm and so on... Hopefully, you will be kind to teach me since you use the same device XDA IIs.. and if not just give me a shot of the best link out there...
Kind Regards
Im wondering why you even upgraded in the first place? My XDAIIs shipped with the latest ROM, and has no apparent bugs. Yet you have yours for 48 hours, have no knowledge of firmware/flashing etc, and you jump onto an immediate firmware upgrade (wrongly, of course)?
What bugs were you seeing?
has anyone a xda11s rom image I too applied the xda11 update
I am looking at the usb v2.06 screen with the unit in the cradle. has anyone an image they can forward me so i can flash it back rather than send it back to O2
thanks shaun

Hello,

Please someone help me, please please.
Thanks in advance
Hi,
I've installed TomTom 5 on about 12 XDA Execs so far for people in work with no problems. My only thoughts are that either your Exec is faulty or that your copy of TomTom is corrupt.
Are you installing off the CAB files directly on the device or via the Setup program over ActiveSync?
G
xda installation
My XDA executive is brand new(4 days old). I have tomtom in sd card, it starts instalation as i insert sd card, after 1st step it freez.
Please tell me for XDA which version of TT is best, TT mobile or Tomtom.
Please help me.
Thanks
Hate to sound like a party pooper, but this is the wrong forum (ask in the HTC Universal forum, as that's what the XDA Exec is).
Off the top of my head, and from the scant information you've provided, it sounds like you have a corrupt installation.
You do have the right version of Windows Mobile, right? If you have WM5, you are using the WM5 patched installer, not the one for WM2003 SE?
A couple of things...
To answer one of your questions: You need to install TomTom, NOT TomTom Mobile (TomTom mobile is for Smartphones).
2nd: Do a search in the Universal forum (at this site, your device is usually refered to by the manufacturing name HTC gives them. HTC is the company who makes your device (along with a ton of others) and then sells them to wireless companies (i.e. T-Mobile, Verizon, Orange, 02 etc)). You device is an HTC Universal.
3rd: I agree with Christopherwoods, you probably have a corrupt TT file. If you device is only 4 days old, return to the place you bought it and make them install it! Demand some Customer Service!
Hello everyone I am a new member with a bit of a problem. I bought my tytn II off of ebay and the seller is no help so I am hoping someone here will be kind enough to lend a hand. when I bring up tom tom on my tytn it ask for an activation code which I dont have a clue about. So I would love to use tom tom but have been out of luck so if anyone could help I would be greatful.
Activation code is something you need to buy from http://www.tomtom.com
If it came with TomTom 7 though, your outta luck for now cause it's not 'officially' available for windows mobile devices yet.
using v6 or 7?
There are versions of TomTom out there which don't need activation - I think v6.032 which came on my CD is the best (I'd upload a copy, but I think the mods won't allow this). However, you still need to buy the maps...
tomtom 6 is my version I am using

Redundant thread.
Hi Guy's,
I've recently purchased a Xda IIi after owning the original Xda for 2months, and what a phone the Xda IIi is! The technical specifications are close to some of the more recent phones.
I've recently installed the Efficasoft GPRS Monitor and Resco Radio, along with a couple of other useful App's. The only gripe I have with the Xda IIi is that it freezes on the Photo Contacts when it tries to play an MP3 ringtone from the SD Card, but I soon cured this by just removing the custom tones.
I've kept the O2 software on at the moment, and I've downloaded the latest ROM to install once I've plucked up enough courage to install it.
I am also a VB.net developer, and I'm really thinking now of getting my head around the .Net Compact Framework. I'm still amazed there are no upgrades for the Xda IIi to either Windows Mobile 5 or 6, but nevermind this smart little phone has a great following.
I shall be frequenting the forums now I have found them and will put my hand in somewhere
Dave
Hi Dave,
yes, it's a great device! I have 2 of them for years (one for the GF). Who knows maybe nokser (see other thread) will manage to cook a ROM with WM 6.1 or 6.5
Willing to part with one now though, since I recently bought a Topaz, which is also really nice and a lot smaller.
Wishing you lots of fun with the XDA IIi !
Thanks TinTin,
Oh I shall have lots of fun with the Xda 2i. I've had a couple of standalone PPC's before, but its a whole new world opened up with a phone added
I will be keeping my eyes on that thread about WM6. One thing I've noticed reading up on the .Net compact framework, its a little restrictive, but I can cope with it, but I'm always up for a challenge.
I'm heavilly into Ham Radio and internet radio, so you can guess what type of app I'm going to try and write.
My wife thinks the Xda 2i is an ugly phone, and wanted me to get a normal Nokia (Symbian) phone, so I got both, and gave her the N70 lol....
Dave
Hi all firstly great forums, secondly i am a complete tard when it comes to technology so be gentle please..........
Ok i just recieved my Diamond 2 and i was wondering if you could help me with the basic upgrades i should get right away before i do anything with it ie 6.5, ROM stuff etc bear in mind i havent a clue about these phones as it is my first new phone for along time.
Also which memory card should i buy for about £20...£35 i want an 8-16gb, do i need to get a micro or normal size ? a class 2, 4, 6 make website i could get a decent trustworthy one from the uk.
The phone is from London and sim free if that helps.
So is there any upgrades that are a must or i should definately get before i start playing around with it.Would like a really nice looking OSrom if poss and not complicated as i will only really use the basics atm GPRS Sat Nav Tom Tom etc. Also a radio Rom ??
The upgrades on HTC site there is a big list do i need to DL and install all of these or ? http://www.htc.com/europe/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=249&act=sd&cat=all
Also i read and found http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/System-Utilities/Enhancements/Spb-Mobile-Shell-31386.shtml
Is there a place to get the full free is it a good OS (SPB-Mobile-Shell 3.5.1)
A small list of things i should DL would really help me.
As you can see im pretty clueless so any help would be really appriciated.
Thanks in advance for any replies and for your time.
Peter
First of all... welcome.
Start reading the stickys in section "Topaz ROM development". There you find threads for ROM and radioROM.
You need micro-SD cart. I'm sure it's in the manual... Speed of it isn't that important if you don't gonna transfer movies and so every day...
You don't need to install all the updates if you go directly for a new rom.
SPB is shareware, so no free ones. But I think you can try it for free some days.
One last thing... reading, reading, searching, searching and don't open several new threads with probs...
Happy flashing...
