I have been giggling like a little school girl for the past 4 hours
For those of you that have playstation2, xbox, tivo, replaytv, basically any cool device with a hard drive.............................
sit down... take a deep breath.... and be prepared for..
Transparent IDE over IP.
I was just searching to see if this device existed or not. Not only does it EXIST but it is CHEAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It works over the network with a compact flash card for caching. It can use HTTP to use a webserver for files or it can use any M$ based SMB share.
Web administrated, small, and made to replace a hard drive.
Now your XBOX can have an unlimited hard drive to store games, same with you playstation2 using HDAdvance.
Your DVR's now have true unlimited storage (as big of a networked raid you want to build).
For devices that do not natively share data like the replaytv, now they all share the same data. For instance multiple xbox's now see the same data on the hard drive and not limited to a single location. Your Xbox in Los Angeles sees the same data as your friend's Xbox in Las Vegas.
I can go on and on.
They are only 175$ and are called WEBasDISK. They should be available sometime by the end of January.
I am still giggling right now.
and how does this affect the XDA I or II ? I am confused ?
It does not have anything to do with the XDA I,II, or III.
That is why I posted in the "General" section
Actually then it should have been posted in off-topic
I'll try to move it there
Ooops
My intentions were good
Sorry about the wrong forum.
But does anyone have any comments?
I mean this is some seriously cool hardware or is it just me?
Ok, well recently i've been getting tired of playing my xbox all day and feel as if I need to be more productive with my free time. Three things have interested me a lot are; lasers, speakers/audio, and LED's. I really want to so something including one, if not two of the three interests. I've never soldered but im defiantly going to learn how. The biggest project i've done so far would probably installing lights in my xbox along with cutting out a two windows too see them.
I need ideas. Summer is just around the corner and will have plentiful free time. Any idea I will consider because im always up to learning something new.
Any ideas will be GREATLY appreciated!!
I want to put a screen in my xbox, have you ever thought of that then i cld play it at work i know thats not much of an idea but may be cool
Get a broken bluray player, or a BRD drive from a PS3, take out the blueray lazer, get a cheap red lazer, pop out the old red one, solder the new blue one, add a resistor, power source, and now you can burn stuff with a lazer.
So I have a used zune and old 30gb ipod, I am looking to hack/crack them open. I also have a new 160gb that I just use through itunes(that I do not want to mess with). I need a good website or book refrence to show/teach me how. I am pretty familiar with windows programming but not mac's/linux's(sad I know).
http://iphone-developers.com/ is a good place to start if you want to hack your ipod.
What about a zune, is there a jailbreak method for that?
Various Zune stuff that I've used before: http://www.zuneboards.com/
cool thanks for the info guys! I appreciate it.
Obviously this isn't the bowlers club...
So... Who likes the new BF3 maps??
There is already an off topic gaming thread. Please post gaming realted stuff there. Thank you.
Yes there is... been there... its all games... not just Xbox 360...
That's like saying we should all talk about Android phones and not specific devices...
I don't care to discuss about PS3, Wii, or PC... Strictly Xbox related...

That doesn't change the fact that threads exactly like this one are created all the time and are locked all the time. It honestly is only a matter of time before this one is locked.
Thread closed.
Hey guys! I'm posting here because I'm not big into the subject and couldn't think of a better group of geniuses to ask. I have an Xbox 360 (Pro I believe, not the newest models) in my upstairs bedroom. I don't have cable TV and only put it there to stream videos from my NAS. My problem is the "system video player" kind of sucks and the Xbox doesn't play "every" format I have. I've had this Xbox for years, never play games online, and have only played Forza single player. Hell, I let my friend borrow it for over 2 years before I remembered I owned one. What I'd like to do is hack this thing to install something similar to XBMC (like I have on my laptop downstairs). I don't care if I'd never be able to login to Live or play games on it again. Am I out of luck with this piece of capable hardware? I'm gonna try to sell it on Craig's list or just chuck it in the trash if I have no options. Any help or links to useful sites would be great. Please keep in mind I have no desire to use "play to" or a Windows PC in conjunction with my Xbox.
Search Google for Xbox 360 hacks, simple as that.

Wow. You must be some sort of genius. Off topic is good enough for me. I did some searching, but just about everything I found is in some way defunct.
