IGo8 and Fuze issues - Touch Pro, Fuze Themes and Apps

Mine installed, but when I try and run Igo it freezes at "initializing warning data". Any ideas?

only a guess here, but it might be A-GPS not working. On my kaiser it freezes at the loading screen when A-GPS is enabled..

I have iGO 8.3 running. I do have AGPS turned off.

8.3 without apgs all on my sdcard

It is not freezed! At the first start it have to calculate geo positions of your contacts and warning data. Once it is done with this job it will start faster.

It sits there for like 2 min and then crashes.

When you load iGO up again, does it ask you if you want to reset the settings to factory defaults?
I once had problems and after answering that question with yes iGO loaded up without any problems again. But I had to reconfigure iGO obviously.

I took everything off and put it back on the phone and reinstalled igo8. A-GPS is disabled, now when I click on Igo8 it wont do anything at all. I will try a newer version, which version are you guys using?
*Update- Downloaded the september update and now it freezes at "initializing warning data".

I have the same problem with the iGo v.8.3 .In the time of setup program it freezes at "initializing warning data". I press to the home button and after a soft reset i launch the iGo who ask you if you want to reset the settings to factory defaults.Press ok and iGo start.Repet 2 time that if the iGo don't start first.
Sorry for my broken english !

I'm using 8.0.0.49545 and no problems here....

depending on your radarfilesize (p.e. Total US/EU/EE) and systemhardware, "initializing warning data" can take up to 10-15 min

ADMIN Delete this thread please?

i dont know if i would close it just yet, i am having a problem, i ave 8.3 on an htc fuze. when i start the program it comes up and said int app then quickly crashed. after a reset it said that a previos version didnt start and asked it i wanted to reset the settings so i did and it still crashes at the same spot.

I would get the updated 8.5 and make sure A-GPS is disabled.

lol so many updates i thought 8.3 was the newiest, and i do have a-gps disabled. so i disabled touchflow and get i get a igo icon at the bottem of the screen but it doesnt do anything and some times it will come up with the igo 8 startscreen and it says init api.

Read the manual. there you can read that igo8 creates the messages for speedcams. depending on the number of cams it lasts up to 5 minutes. don´t distrurb your tp and wait

I have similar behaviour on Diamond and Touch PRO.
It's not a freeze ! Just let it be for 5 - 10 minutes and it will continue loading.
It happens only when you launch it 1st time.
Cheers,

For the once that don't experience stalling for 5 min because of speedcam file initialization here is the sys.txt that solved my problems with Igo on TP:

GPSViewer dying

Anyone else having issues with GPSViewer ?? I had this working the other week but the last few days I open the app, set it to com4, open GPS and click any of the start buttons. It starts receiving data and then after about 10 seconds it just closes and dies.
I have not touched the settings for "External GPS" and can't figure out why it has just stopped working. Anyone else had this ??
I had this a number of weeks back, I did a soft reset and it stopped doing it. Hasn't happened since. Not sure what was causing it though, I put it down to some background application causing an issue.

I had this happen too. It was after I tried installing 'hitchhiker' - which would run and then die. I ended up hard resetting and re installing from a recent backup.

iGO8 - cant go into standby mode?

Since weeks i am trying to figure out if more people have the same problem as i do but so far no result; i can't switch of my kaiser when iGO8 navngo is running. I have to exit the app to be able to put my phone into standby. If i try this when the app is running the screen starts to flash on & off, making the app unusable.
Even when i minimize the app and see the today screen, i can NOT switch the device off.
I have tried several roms ranging from 6.0 to 6.1 stock & cooked ones, and several versions of iGo, all to no avail.
Does anyone else have this issue and if not, what can i do to solve it? its quite annoying because when im on route i want to be able to switch off my device and stick it in my pocket when i leave the car..otherwise its a pretty cool program!
thanks in advance
I installed igo8 yesterday...when I found out that i couldn't run my igo 2006 maps, I uninstalled it without messing with it too much. That and I dont like to leave things like that running. Drains the battery too much for my taste.
Now, if anyone happenes to have US maps (Florida, not to put too fine of a point on it) for igo8....that would be WONDERFUL. Feel free to PM me
anyone....?
For me this works, no problem.
I minimize the app. and can lock my Kaiser and switch of the screen.
Have you tried to change the settings in IGO8 : Device settings-> power management -> use device settings ?
Daan
Ok, let me put it this way without giving out to much. Do you have the purchased copy from iGO or another source? If it's the other source (i know what you're talking about ) there's something wrong with the..uhh, let's just say with the exe.

Tried that, doesnt help.
Can you also switch off while in the app? (besides running it minimized)
The same happens to me with another navigation software that does not allow device to sleep when GPS is turned on. With previous device (HTC Trinity) everyting workied fine, but with Kaiser I am getting blinking screen and unresponsive interface when I try to switch off device in this mode. No matter is it active or minimized.

Will try, however in the middle of flashing a new rom So can't really try right now.
Maybe I can give some feedback later today.

Are you also using S2U2? If so, be sure to add iGO8.exe to the exception list in the registry. This will stop S2U2 from suspending power to iGO8 when going into standby.

Its true that tomtom6 had this problem - but the version that comes on the cd doesn't. Obviously that one's optimized for the kaiser. Also tomtom7 which comes from a diamond works ok.
good news!!!

yes, i noticed the same. But it's not 100% ; the screen blinks back on before shutting down once. Not a big deal. However when minimizing igo and switching the device off, the screen goes back on and igo maxmizes automatically.
Do you experience the same thing?
But at least its much better now
hm, also sometimes it crashes after resuming from standby, and the today shortcut is gone....
doesnt seem to be very stable

How fast do you get a GPS fix?

Using Tomtom navigator, it always takes about 2 minutes to get a satellite fix (with quick GPS updated) on my Artemis/MDA Compact III . On occassion it's even longer, but in general, 2 minutes. Never less time, apart from closing navigator down and starting it up again when it'll then get a fix pretty fast.
Is the GPS receiver on the Diamond, specifically, the T Mobile MDA Compact IV any faster? I believe there is no quick gps feature on it? Also, I read somewhere on this site that someone with navigator 6.02 got a fix in seconds. I have navigator 6 and now I've bought nav 7. I'm not sure if my navigator 6 is 6.02, probably not. I'll have to check.
Its probably v6.75
Im running v7.45 and it takes me 2 minutes (sometimes less sometimes more) to get a cold gps fix. I find alot of buildings are my biggest enemy when locking onto a satellite, but thats old news.
I am not running Quick GPS but I was planning on trying it out.. the reviews are pretty good on an htc.
Running a diamond here too.
Using a diamond with the .07 radio and Quick GPS I get a fix in about 20 seconds
im using the 05 radio and quick GPS, i get a fix in 30 secs
For me, it's definitely a TT7 issue. When I use any other of my GPS apps, I get a fix in sub 30 seconds in all but he worst of signal/sky obscurity situations. In TT7 it usually takes a minute or more... the difference is so pronounced that if I need TT quickly, I run up Fugawi to get a fix in a matter of seconds, and then I run up TT.
So perhaps TT has some kind of higher signal quality threshold or something??... or maybe it's just the programming in its startup routine that's slow.
Diamond SwiftBlade V6.5 radio 05, sorry dont use TT, use IGO8 takes about 5-10 seconds, memory map OS takes about 5 seconds, RunGPS is almost instant warm. Cold add about 10 seconds on each.
.05 radio, fix in about 20-30secs

Same here in any GPS app including TomTom 7, even indoors I get a fix in under 30secs and connect to around 6-8 sats even if the GPS has not been used in 24hrs.
Im using TT7 and .07 radio/quickGps and I get a cold fix in 20-30sec, warmfix we are talking about few seconds
I had few probs with GPS, but now with Duttys V2 ROM (A-GPS is initially Off) + Radio .05 I get the fix within 10-20 seconds in any application.

Similar here 15-20 sec
less then 30sec. even for cold start
Wow, you're all getting a fix from cold in 30 seconds or less
Either I need to find the right navigator that works faster, or try another GPS app. Thing is, tomtom is the best one out there isn't it? Or maybe my artemis will never be able to get a fix faster than 2 minutes with any app.
me too abot 20 secs usig destinator 7
well quickgps doesn't work for me .. it keeps saying connection failed. with a-gps turned off, on swiftblade's rom, with igo 8, i get a fix in ... well .. not to make a fool out of myself .. 3 minutes or more ..

Had that problem too once. Had to do a hard reset to make QuickGPS work again. Now, using iGo too, I get a fix in 20-30s.
So I used to get a fix in about 2 minutes until I added the SUPL GPS to enable aGPS.
Now my TTFF is 5 seconds @ and an instant 6-8 birds. Indoors add another 10 seconds or so.
Heres the reg keys in a cab.

Hey guys, I just read up on igo8. A lot of people are saying it's the best gps software, better than tomtom. I saw a youtube video and all the maps have 3D buildings and landscapes, looks awesome. How good is igo, and does it come with speed cameras?

GPS stop when I switch the screen off

Hi to all,
excuse me if I open a discussion allready post but I tried with the search function and I din't found anythings about my proble.
The last week I tried to log the GPS to geotag same photos that I was shooting.
I used VisualGPSce and all was fine untill I switched off the screen to save battery, it lost the signal till I reactivate the screen, I had the same problem with other GPS utils to log.
I'm pretty sure that before the GSP was logged with the screen off to.
I updated the radio rom, my configuration is.
[Radio ROM]1.56.70.11
udK 6.1 R1 Lizard WM6 OS 5.2.1933 Build 18533.0.7.0)
Any idea ?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my english.

I have yet to find a solution for your GPS problems in TomTom.
This is what I do to save battery power in TomTom.
1. Turn on the safety feature (example, above 70 kph. It displays a static screen that uses much less battery power than the live moving maps do.
2. Turn down the back light.
3. Plug it into the 12v when in a vehicle.
I use NoniGPS and it is possible to have this app running in the background and switch off the screen to save battery life with a little app called Screen Switch. This app will not work with TomTom.
Hi, thanks for the answer.
I don't have the problem with TomTom but I need to screen off while logging GPS, so you solution could be ok for me, I'll try it.

Thanks to all for the hel and the answers, I tried some ways and some softwares that you suggest me and I discover that the problem is present only when I shut down the screen using the shortcut AE Button Plus, using then same function in HomeScreen PlusPlus UI the GPS don't stop to work.
Thanks again.

GPS Issue after PIE update

I have updated to Pie yesterday and I found that my GPS is kind of not working.
When I start any navigation app, it gets my position but then it just doesn't work. Also, when I fired up the GPS Status app, I didn't get any GPS fix even after 5 minutes in my car.
Does anyone have the same problem or knows how to fix it? I am afraid that a factory reset won't help.. Should I try to wipe the cache partition?
The phone hasn't been rooted
Thanks
Here in Portugal we have some users with the same problem. Mine has the same problem too .

Let's see if the help appears.
