IGO 8 baud rate???? - Touch Pro, Fuze Themes and Apps

Noticed that most users are using TT as navigation software.
I prefere IGO 8.
My question for other IGO users is: which tweaks really helped you with the lag issue, and what baud rate works best for you?
Also, what version are you using?
For me, Nav N Go iGO v8.3.1.57021 seems to work best. I applied the tweaks cab mentioned here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2814768&postcount=1.
Baud rate 9600 seems to work great, almost no lag, but with often signal lost. What baud rate works for you?

Nobody using IGO 8, to share the baud rate that works best for him?

Hi,
I'm using COM4 @ 38400 baud.
Someone was recommending that. I don't remember where... probably in 'gps lag' thread.
Do you experience GPS lag ?
Cheers

Hi,
i'm using igo with standard baudrate ... it works
best tweak for my igo was, to disable A-Gps with AdvancedConfig 3.3
and also
- use quick gps before travleing and
- wait a little time after starting igo before starting your trip to get sat-update

Hi,
Someone could tell me if the "IQ Routes" functionality is present in tomtom 7 for PDA?
Thanks a lot
Has TT7 been released for PDA?

For TT7 on the Diamond - this is a grey area. Some operators are giving TT7 away on the Diamond but without maps. You still need to buy the maps from TomTom. Better for TomTom to get *some* money off you than none at all because you had to go to a competitor.

I don't encourage the warez, I just ask information about a product that is installed in certain countries on the diamond. Those who have, have been quite legally.
Someone would have an answer to my question?

Man, i know that TT7 is sold with the HTC Touch diamond somewhere but if pammoun is asking for settings then surely it's not the bundled version (because that come already settled up with internal GPS)
not necessarily that default settings are always the best. at least this is my experience with TT6 and TT7 on HTC devices.
I found that _universal_ settings for TT6 and TT7 for HTC devices are:
Other NMEA GPS
COM4
1200 bps wheter available. some devices will offer 2400 bpps only. but 1200 is still gives better results.
tested these setting to be the most suitable for Artemis, Trinity, TyTNII, Pharos, Diamond. both TT6 and TT7 (Diamond).
Hi SecureGSM,
If you used tomtom 7 on PDA, can you answer me about "Iq Road"?
thank you
@zeldomar.
no IQ routes, no lane guidence on 6.x and 7.x maps. TT7 does not support maps 8.x.
as far as navigation experience goes, TT7 is great step forward. Big success, me think.
I thought the 6.75 Maps were the latest version for Navigator?
official support:
6.x maps: version 6.75
7.x maps: any version
8.x maps: no support
I use:
other gps nemea
9600
com4
working well
ps: same settings of previous tt6

That's correct, but you also need to go to settings/system/external GPS and
set first tab to com2 and second tab to com4 or vv. In my case select com2 rather than com 4.
This works for TomTom7, IGO8 and Navigator7.

See reply #14.
How can posting about TomTom 7 be Warez. Now if you linked up the maps which is what you license for then yes it would be Warez at it would need a map to work.
You can ask TomTom themslves for the executable and they will give you a link to download it from.
I've heard it all now , so if I was to say "Copilot" now in this thread would that be Warez too... jeez Its in the Tytn forum and the general !!!!!!!

Have a look at this, it is cheap and very effective and light in resources on the Diamond.
http://www.mcguider.com/
What do you mean with "basic" ????
If you want to see simple position data or save track data give GPS Tuner a chance. If you look for anything with maps, TT or Navigon is the first choise.

Position

elevation
trip statitics (average speed, length...)
It as the ability to switch on anf of the GPS ..
visual gps works great on the diamond. you have just to configure the connection (COM 4)
have fun
Yes, VisualGpsCe run correctly on HTC Diamond.

Thats strange... so confirm your ROM version and Googlemaps version... ????
I have never had problems with that on any ROM
NB: don't enable AGPS waste of time...
using bElite v0.97_Fixed and Google maps 2.2.0.16 (downloaded straight from googlemaps link)
just set the gps manually on com4 and baud rate to 57600 it should work

Touch-IT v4.0 & Igo 8 and Garmin

Nice looking ROM , with many bug at this point. Just uninstalled from my X1. Igo 8 , Garmin and a few GPS related software not working with this relase.Contact screen freeze after sync with outlook from my pc.
The only one ROM from itje worked for me trouble free: Touch-IT_Xperience_v2.2
Anybody out there who have Igo 8 and this ROM working?
sorry double post - deleted
Using Garmin Mobile XT V5.00.20 and works perfect (Socal).
Couple of things to check:
1 - Advanced Config - enable 'Assisted GPS'
2 - update quick GPS
3 - Settings - 'External GPS' my settings are:
GPS program port: COM4
GPS hardware port: (None)
Baud rate: 4800 (i've seen others used 9600 as well, don't know the difference)
Manage GPS auto - checked
From what I know, GPS has a lot more to do with the radio than rom. I've tried all three available Xperia radios and the best one for me is 1.10.25.18 . Satellites lock quickly and signal holds very well.
radios are available here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=477801
You just gotta experiment, good luck!
using igo8 perfectly.
also tried the cab for TT with a free map (to test out footprints) and that works as well.
I had big problems with gps, seems that sometimes a flash can mess it up. It's not related to rom, it's not itje's bug, a hard reset should do the trick. make a backup with something like spb backup, hard reset and then restore
PS I LOVE googlemaps integrated in contact detail page
I am using Touch-It RC1 with IGO8 without any problems, I didnt have any problems with any of the beta versions either.......I havent changed any GPS settings on windows or in IGO8 gps settings etc.

I bet you will have a lot of issue by enabling this. HTC put a bogus non-reachable IP address for AGPS and AGPS never work.
I actually haven't got into much problem with the A-GPS enabled. Only issue is if i leave the GPS program active, but not routing to a destination, and let the screen power off due to inactivity, the phone occasionally freezes. I will trying turning it off and see if i can repeat the freezing.

My Igo 8 working perfect with another cooked rom's. With itje's rom i can not install Igo 8 (8.3.2.64029). I havent changed any GPS settings on my xperia.
I just flashed back my phone with the generic uk rom: (X1i_GENERIC_UK_CDF1215-1832_R2AA010) , and now everything working fine , no problem with igo 8.
Any suggestion what im doing wrong?
I have iGo 8 with 4.0 rc 1 w/o any problems, also it worked with all images from itje all the way until 4.0

That should work; also check if the installation path is correct in sys.txt.
I've got Navigon 7, TomTom 7 and iGo8 working perfectly on the Xperia. TomTom and Navigon are a bit stretched since they were made for VGA, but they work fine.
Also Google maps, Trackr and QuickGPS work fine.
I left all GPS settings to the standard and disabled AGPS.
The above are valid for Itje's 2.01, 2.2, 3.01, 3.5 WWE and NLD, 4.0, Jack 2.08, CmEX 2 and some others I've tried (didn't keep track, I flash every few days )

Here's my take:
IGo8:
Pro: Best graphic (both 3D and 2D) and fluid screen movement, TTS, fully customizable UI. lane info for freeway exit, excellent voice instuctions, Quite easy to use UI if you get use to it.
Con: Take a long time to (> 1 min) start. Resource and memory hog.
Garmin Mobile XT:
Pro: Best POI, Best online functionality if you got 3G plan (Google search, realtime traffic, airline schedule, gas price .... etc).
Con: Ugly UI (IMHO), quite hard to understand how to navigate the menus, slow, no TTS, not so good voice instructions
Tomtom: Very good graphic (just 2nd to Igo), very easy to use.
Con: no TTS, horrible voice instructions in complicated freeway situtation, no feature is best of it class and I don't see the need to use it (e.g. I would either use Garmin or Igo8 depend on situtation and needs, but in no case I would consider Tomtom....)
Thanks for the review! IGo8 sounds good, and I just moved to Socal and freeways is a ***** to navigate so better voice instructions would be a plus.

If you are in US, you should look into IGuidance 4/2009 too. Ugliest interface but best TTS instructions, fast startup time and use a lot less resource.
In my case iGo starts within 15sec., it depends on the stuff (maps, buildings etc.) you include. I´m using the latest version but it eats up a lot of memory though.

My experience is similar to Jacks, but here goes:
Navigon 7:
pro: a lot faster than version 6, very good graphics, roadsigns in landscape, POIs with real life logo's, fast map updates, excellent voice instructions
con: startup is a bit slow, not customisable
iGo 8:
pro: very customisable/skinnable, nice graphics, chooses logical routes, lane info with roadsigns in portrait and landscape, fast map updates, easy to plan a route with multiple stops, displays second move.
con: startup is slow, hard to navigate to contacts (hidden in POI menus)
TomTom 7:
pro: very fast, very easy to understand and navigate from A to B.
con: very simple graphics, hard to customise
I use iGo most, but I think Navigon is nicer to look at and has better voices. iGo voices are a lot better than in previous versions, but you get a lot of notifications for one move. I hardly use TomTom; only when I want to now quickly (within a minute or so) where I can find a specific address.
I've had a play with the tomtom cab from the diamond and the free map of my home town (for footprints experimenting) and the route finding is really bad. I know a few others who have standalone units and have complained of the same.
I was heading back home the other night, set preferences to shortest, turned onto a 2 mile long straight road home and it decided I should instead turn left, go 3 miles to get onto the motorway ride along the motorway for a 1.5 miles than up another road for 2 miles, to come out the other end of the road I was on. mmm
give me igo anyday..
Been involved in the beta testing for the telmap stuff, other than the caching and amount of data it uses it's not bad, but ugly. Walking directions are pretty good as well.
Nothing from all the solutions you gave in this thread works for me ! I tried them all...
Anyone who got this working on Touch-IT v4.0 RC1 , RC 3 , RC 3.01 ......
What branding and data file are you using? What is your igo8 version number ?
What is in your sys conf. file?
Everything working fine with generic uk R2AA010 rom,but nothin with itje rom's....
I like very much his rom, i really wanted to use , but i must to have igo8 on my xperia

iGo Amigo for Kaiser

Does anyone have any experience of getting iGo Amigo working with their Kaiser? TTS?
works fine...
but i had to turn off "assisted gps" function. Not tried TTS.
Thanks rothod.
TTS is what I'm looking for. Can you try it?
Also, have you previously used iGo 8? If so, do you find Amigo better, or worse?
Works very well for most aspects. Updated graphics and new interface. TTS works perfectly. Major 'bug' of backlighting controlled by Windows with no override by program. Can use on 8.3 maps.

The display a bit more cartoonish - more like Garmin's than the clean iGo8.3. TTS a bit more precise in pronounciation, and more courteous - lots more "Please turn" etc. Too chatty for my liking.
Still prefer iGo8.3
Amigo has less options
Hmmm.. thanks lads.
Going to install iGo 8 then. This is what I've been using on my trusty (old) Mio 269+ for months mow, and I love it.
Was going to use Amigo on my HTC TyTN II (when I eventually receive the device!), but I think I'll put iGo 8 on it instead.

IGO 8.3.2.64873 With TTS - OK
Hi all
I have the PDACorner X-V1 and I just installed the iGO 8.3.2.64873 with TTS files, and it seems to be working, I heard the TTS voice when I choosed my language, and iGO is now running.
I have both working on my Tilt fine. Amigo is nice, however iGO8 will still be my primary GPS program.

IS there a solution on how to make IGO find the satellites faster ?? i read many comments from others in this forum but somehow i could not find any proper answer.
IGO6 plus it is finding the satellites very fast when comparing these two..
