If you go to the photos tab and then "Album" and then "Albums" you have a long list of picture folders to look at, one of them is called "wallpaper" and it has some nice wallpapers that are like variations of the default pictures in the "my pictures" folder (the avatar-1 avatar-2 ones etc). But there's no option to set any of them as the wallpaper. Is there any way to do this? If not, does anyone know where in the phone they're stored?
The wallpapers are stored in \Internal Storage\Content\Wallpapers

Hi guys,
When I put a picture as the today's wallpaper, the picture is lighter than normal.
Is there anyway to fix it and get the real picture colors ?
Thx
yep, use eg. resco picture viewer or resize your pictures to 240x320 and 320x240, rename them to tdywater_240_320.gif and tdywater_320_240.gif and copy/ overwrite in \windows. soft reset and you are done!
ps. it is needed to have it saved as a .gif!
Or just keep it simple!
Open the picture in the default "pictures & videos", and choose "Set as Today Background". Then it will ask you how much white you wanna have.

If you set the image under settings/today, thats what you will get. For some reason it uses a transparency value (nowhere to change this here).
The best and easiest solution I have found, is to open the Camera, and view the Album. Browse to the image you want, click it and keep it pressed so that the context menu comes up, select "Set as Today Background...". This will show you the image, and allow you to set the transparency level. Set it to zero, and the image in the Today Background will look exactly as it should.
Works with the Album->Set Picture as Background
Thx guys !
Will it possible to limit the wallpaper selection only to a specific directory (or specified directories) instead of all the pictures/icons it finds on the sdcard?
I am not sure, but I think it uses the same interface as the standard app 'Gallery' - can we somehow restrict it to only relevant directories.
I know that by placing a .nomedia (empty) file in a sub-dir - this will not be picked-up by any application....well, that is the problem, I still need to access these directories by other applications, for instance to change the icon associated with a shortcut.
Any ideas of how we can modify the ROM to only specify the search-dir for wallpapers or Gallery?
Thanks
I strongly reccomend downloading the free app "Wallpaper Set & Save" from the market. It will show a list of wallpapers in /sdcard/wallpapers and simply let you tap one to preview and set it. It's a much nicer way to set wallpapers and unlike using the gallery, it's doesn't distort them (they may not like distorted now, but you will see the difference).
Thanks.....that was exactly how I wanted it to work.It would be nice if we can get this as a 'build-in' feature for wallpaper selection and not as a downloadable app!
Maybe I'm missing something? Whenever I go to set a picture in my gallery as a wallpaper, it becomes ridiculously zoomed in and grainy?
I haven't had my phone that long but I've looked and I'm sure I'm forgetting to check something somewhere or something... anyone know what i'm not doing?
The picture I set as a wallpaper always looks fine in the gallery..
I believe android only supports 16 bit wallpapers. You are seeing color banding. I noticed it too.
ya but why does it zoom in on the picture? the picture included in the crop box isn't even all there

Have you tried holding the border of the crop box and expanding it as large as possible?
Also, the, "Backgrounds" app sets nice, clear wallpapers if you set them from within the app.
Wallpaper set and save fixed it for me.
go get a free app called flikie wallpaper and use that to set backrounds, even your own pics or whatever the pic may be, when the phone asks what program to use to set wallpaper, use this app ( you will see the icon there)
should help i have huge crisp wallpapers and love them

In order to get the wallpaper to look properly without zooming in on part of the picture, the picture has to be resized to 960x800, then the wallpaper will look sharp. Try this wallpaper and see if it works for you if it does then the issue is the size of the wallpaper your using.
Ok I just downloaded the wallpaper I uploaded but the size changed. So forget about the idea lol. Just take a wallpaper with a high resolution and use paint the resize it and upload it the your phone. Apply it as a wallpaper and your done.
I tried to both of those apps and neither let me set a picture saved on my phone. I tried making the crop box small, big, nothing works

Can anyone tell me in which folder the original wallpapers are stored?
really? nobody has an answer to this?
I am looking for this a long time...
I don't believe it that it is not possible?
I think the default wallpapers are stored in the Framework-res.apk or TW-Framework-res.apk of your rom.
yeah, the default wallpaper is stored in the Framework-res.apk
there is not a folder.
Is there not possible to add image into the NATIVE "Gallery Wallpaper"?
Hi, I just got a Thunderbolt for my first Android phone and I'm loving it! I have a question about the Desktop Visualizer app though.
On one of my screens I want to use DV and put pictures of some bands in the widgets, each one with a shortcut to their playlist. How can I take a picture off of Google and use it in DV? Do I have to make it a certain size or file type? And how can I do this? Thanks!

you need to find the proper sizes of which sizes you want to use. search this forum for ones that are made and use those sizes you like(should be easy to find). i use photoshop but you can use any photo editing software that will allow you to resize or crop. i heard gimp is pretty good and free.
Ok I changed a picture to 350x130 pixels and it said fail to create shortcut or widget. The picture is a jpeg, should it be png or something else? Or is something else the problem
