For some reason my when I pull out the magnetic stylus from the phone it no longer unlocks the screen even after doing a hard reset. Is there some sort of program that activates that feature of the Phone? If anyone can help me to put that feature back onto my phone it would be greatly appreciated.
Funny thing is that you trying to enable it. I'm trying to remove it. Once I put the stylus in it loccs on its own and I don't want it to.
johnp68 - Did you have Gyrator installed before?
Zaiaku - Did you install Gyrator? If so, disable the "Stylus In" and "Stylus Out" events (to remove unlock/lock on stylus movement).
exactly what he said
I'm afraid it sounds like its broken - I had to send mine back - see this thread:

That thread is in regards to the phone not waking up when the stylus is removed (due to the stylus sensor becoming stuck)... these folks are talking about 'Unlocking' and 'Locking' the phone.

Actually, I think this is one and the same as wake up mode happens at the same time as when you have a locked phone and pull the stylus out to unlock it. I have tried to get the switch into the right position but as yet have had no success, I too was having a problem earlier on where the stylus was very difficult to slot in. It felt like the stylus was almost to wide to slot in it was such a tight fit. Since then the problem started. In a site where it shows you how to remove the back case you can actually see the switch http://www.mikechannon.net/PDF Manuals/HTC Touch Pro - Camera removal photo guide v1.1 by A Mak.pdf
on page 4 but to undo the case you have to remove the void tag over one of the screws and do not feel the risk of voiding any future possible repairs to the phone is worth removing the case to make it easy to put the switch in the correct position.

Apologies - I assumed it was one and the same thing - which in this case it appears to be
Johnp68 - as it is a recognised fault - it should be covered under any exisitng warrenty - so if it was me - I'd send it back - rather than risk any future more serious problem being out of cover having tampered this time around
The "fat stylus" syndrome was exactly what happened here - very weird to experience - I first thought the magnet had somehow polorised - then finally found the switch threads
Wish we could do more to help

From searching this forum, I can tell that others are having the same issue I am having. It started out with just a couple keys and now about 50% of my keys require me to push really hard for them to type. It is not a lag issue as covered by another thread. It just feels like the there may be dirt or something under the keys that makes it harder to type. This issue also is not ROM related as I have flashed my device with several ROMS with the same result.
Has anyone had any luck taking apart the keyboard and cleaning underneath the keys? If so -- maybe post some tips on what worked or not.
Thanks.
I'd vote for compressed air
I agree. You might be able to disassemble the phone and take the keyboard out and use compressed air. That would make certain that all the dirt is really out of the board...
A work mate of mine did this the other day. He took it fully apart and cleaned it out with contact cleaner. Ill ask him wether it worked or not but I think it did because I saw him using the phone today.
contact cleaner
I've never heard of contact cleaner. I'll have to try that. After looking at this video for disassembly, it doesn't look like you can get underneath the keys. How did your co-worker do it? Pop off the keys like a laptop keyboard?
I guess some older thread on how to replace Kaiser keyboard will be useful.

Yes, I found that as well and it was not of much use. The problem is not removing the keyboard from the phone. The problem is getting underneath the keys. You can see the keyboard front/back removed from my attached image. According to this other thread #119, #126, #127 they say it is impossible to get at the keypad underneath.
I might just take a can of compressed air and spray on top of the keys as best I can to see if it helps.

Hmmm, seems that no other way but perhaps replace the keyboard ..
You cant get under the "actual" keyboard without breaking it off the housing. The keys can be pulled off from the top, but the actual buttons are sealed below.
For what little it cost, just replace the whole thing and problems are solved. Just did my son and daughters couple weeks ago.
Im foolish I forgot to ask him about it. Thinking back he may have damaged it lol. He does kind of charge into things and then realise he cant fix it.
Agree with carhigh, just replace the whole thing. Kaiser parts not that expensive nowadays. Just need time to open it up.
I have the same problem. Tried blowing compressed air from the top, but didn't have much success with the keys. I'll probably get a new keypad and replace it!
Sorry if this is a common question but where do people recommend getting kaiser parts? My N key and spacebar dont work without pressing it really hard and it's doing my head in!
Cheers.

Your problem will slowly get worse. More and more keys will require extra pressure. Not sure where you could buy a replacement now (the phone is kind of old). After attempting to clean the keyboard, I gave up. I am just using onscreen keyboard program that is included in TPC's ROM. I think it is called finger keyboard. After a little practice, I am actually faster typing on that than I was with sliding the keyboard.
Try this guys - worked for me in fixing my S key:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=431925
Ah. Did not realize the keyboard did not come out of the housing...
My milestone has led a pampered and then rough life of music gigs and festivals back and forth and decided to give up it's ghost (or give me ghost-touches if you will) due to a failing digitizer after a Dillinger Escape Plan gig (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyzQgysUOdU I'm right in the center of the mosh pit hehe).
I've since decided that I'd save a little more money and get a Galaxy Nexus, even if I'd very much prefer a Droid4 if only to have a proper QWERTY slider phone. They don't sell them here .
Anyway, being that I've had to continue using my POS (can you tell I'm pissed) phone, I decided to look for a way to disable the touch screen and see how feasible it is to control with only the keypad and a few touches.
Which led me to these 2 apps
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.argotronic.touchblocker
Screen Lock / disable touch Argotronic
I've had it set up so that I can "lock" the touchscreen via shaking the device, and unlocking the screen in the same way. Despite disabling the touchscreen, the notification pulldown still remains active, so you can still pull it down and quickly tap yourself to whatever via the Dpad if necessary.
Now, of course, what use is all this if you can't swipe to unlock your ****?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jiubang.goscreenlock
Go Locker
This, apart from still bringing up the stock lockscreen whenever you restart your phone (this goes away after 1-2 unlocks), solves that problem by allowing you to unlock your phone via long pressing the volume rocker.
I've found that it is entirely feasible to run the phone this way.
Apart from that, I bid this community a farewell as what little regular posting I used to do has already dropped tremendously the last few weeks, and much thanks to everyone who has helped me and the developers. <3 Kabaldan, get a galaxy nexus please! though I'd suppose your talents would be better suited to another poor locked up phone.
This community helped me get quickly familiar with Android, and in particular with a "difficult" phone, and I will never forget this. I'll probably get a new digitizer + keyboard and just put it on my desk as a... completely over powered clock. or something. Hey, when was the last time you said overpowered when talking about the Milestone?
Oh, and to solve the gig/festival problem so my Gnex doesn't meet a similar fate I'll be getting an Xperia Active as a secondary phone since that **** is hard as nails, waterproof, small (3") and reasonably priced.
EDIT: Reason I'm not just fixing up my Milestone to continue to use it is because I've always suspected that my mobile radio is a little faulty as I've always had trouble maintaining 3G+ connectivity/sync, I figure it'll just crap itself out eventually. It's also, and I'm sure most will agree, starting to become painfully slow hahah.
If you are willing to take a little risk, after taking out battery, SIM card and microSD card, worm up your phone by putting it in the oven over a towel or on a blow heater (yeah, for real) for a few minutes. Then, you will need to put it in a dry place (like drawer or something) during the night. Turn it up in the morning and it shall work.. it worked for me anyway, I was sure my phone was dead and the digitizer was damn busted.. it must have been moist from the inside, so I used to have very annoying ghost screen..
good luck mate..

Hmm, I completely forgot about this!
I had done some drying with a hairdryer, I had originally noticed that the ghost-touches would get more severe if it spent an hour or two in my pocket, but completely forgot about trying it to dry it a different way. I'll put in a bag of rice tonight!
Thanks
Putting your device in the oven could really fix your problem. I've heard of this before in a different context (fixing gaming consoles..). What it does is fixing soldering points by melting them. Connections between cables and the board are then (hopefully) fixed again.
There are several methods including the oven, microwave, hairdryer and so on..
moe6 thank you for you post
will try the screen lock app
i have no need for the go locker, with cm7 you can unlock the phone by sliding the keyboard.
i have two questions
how can i answer/end a call easily without the screen?
is there any way to have a back button routed to the key board?
i use "search+z" to start(swich) back to my launcher
i guess i will try the oven trick but i really concerned if i will break the milestone completely. should survive a few week.

Good thing you thanked the top post, I would've missed your post otherwise .
Yeah I know you can unlock via keyboard slide but I have my phone caseless and its always in my pocket and it tends to slide open just enough to unlock it occasionally .
I answered calls by using the d-pad on the keyboard. Just tap it once and it should begin highlighting buttons on the screen, press d-pad center button to select. Unfortunately for you, my back button did still work as the "dead" part of my digitizer was on the right side of the phone where Home and Search is.
I think the drying tricks help mostly with ghost touches since I'd assume that the ghost touches are from small amounts of water/sweat/liquid. After drying it with a hairdryer, short bit in the oven and then stuck in a bag of rice, my ghost touches stopped 80% from what they were before. The digitizer is still dead on one side though.
Now all I need is a Droid/Milestone dock and a new digitizer so my old Milestone can live its life out as a very complicated desk clock
You can actually make it work real good without much issue. You'll need a CM ROM so you can enable the Menu to unlock option and then use v6 Supercharger Bulletproof Apps to lock the screen disabling software into memory so it doesn't crash and it doesn't run bad at all. Also, there is a really good app to remote control your phone from your computer so if you have adb and a data cable, you can get it working good.
Do you know what that app is called?

I personally use AirDroid, it's amazing.
Hi guys,
My Xperia ZR started behaving abnormally some days back, I put "screentouchtest" app and found that there were random inputs on the phone which made the phone go useless... Check the screen shot attached.
So I tried to make an app that will disable only that part on my screen and I was successful at it... Check screenshot attached. I could then at least use my phone to some extent.
But now the frequency of these random touch inputs have increased and that has made it again go unusable...
Problem is that I made this app as a floating app and whenever user touches other part of the phone , touch below the unblocked area is activated.
SO now I wanted to disable the touch completely over this area...any help will be appreciated.
Sony says it is due to water logging in the motherboard and no warranty will be given.
You are not alone!
Having the same problem here. Random touch inputs on the top right corner of device. I can assure you it's not because of water log of any sorts because i have opened ,checked, dried and even tested the touch display. Its a software related issue I guess which I am not able to pinpoint or understand. I wish someone from the forum helps with it.
water logging? did your phone get wet some time? its waterproof phone and no warranty given? screw sony in consumer court

Sorry to say unfortunately custom ROM doesn't help either. After I installed one just to see if the problem persists, To my surprise it didn't! But after a week or so the pendulum was back to square one. So I had to roll back. I really don't know how to go about this problem I think the problem is because of a bug of some sorts which causes the chip to send signals to the display addressing that its being touched or whatever. Anyway this is just my guess. You can try installing a custom ROM for your device and see if the issue ceases. In that case my problem would be just device specific. Do share your results after you install a custom ROM :good:.

May be there is a problem with the touch digitizer under the LCD panel which is misbehaving. No software can fix it. You will need to replace the touch digitizer along with LCD screen as they are sold as single unit. Check online if you can find the parts and ask any local mobile repairer to replace it. :good:
NO Luck with Custom ROM
I put Android Lollipop (CM12 Port) and there have been no change. Looks like the problem is with digitizer, last time I told local repair shop to replace the screen they said they cant separate the screen and had no clue. But I searched and found out from youtube videos that it can be done. Now all I have to do is buy Screen+Digitizer.
As you can see the random touch strip have moved little upwards from my earlier screenshots. That happened months back. If anyone wants the app I made then let me know. It helps me to some extent.

Where can I buy 1? Online? Link Please...
Since there are random touches on my phone, I made app that blocks this touch... Check the screenshots, I have "Show Touches" Option ON from Developer Settings. This makes all the touches show white marker... So I made app that floats over the screen and wont show any response when there are touches over that area. "Semi Transparent Area" in the screenshot - Touch wont work over that part. App wont completely disable the touch though, if we press other part of screen for that time app gets disabled...

I have this problem too but it only happens if the phone screen get wet
Some time it happen randomly but when i press on the screen at bottom and on led gently it disappear and back to normal
Thank you!
The Float APK solved the major issue of my faulty touch screen in my Nexus 4. There are two lines in my screen where the touch is not working anymore. One of them is having several crazy clicks making my phone somehow useless. By using this app, I can prevent that, which is great!
Two issues I've got:
- the textbox to set the distance from the top is located exactly in the first dead line! So I need to turn my phone sideways to be edit to click there and edit its value.
- when using the phone in horizontal mode, blocked zone turns as well, but the faulty zone is fixed there.
I'm wondering if you might share with us the source code or maybe you consider to make some improvements on it?
Thank you so much for sharing this app here!
thanks for this app solution.
I too have problem of ghost touches. This app definately helps with that and makes the phone somewhat usable again.
The only problem is that some ghost touches are continous (it's like someone presses their finger on the screen and keeps holding it there). This makes action by other touches unresponsive.
Maybe we can find a solution for this in the float app?

After I accidentally inserted the S Pen backwards, but later on managed to remove it successfully, the S Pen is not working.
It can still be detected, ie triggering Air Command or screen off memo, when I was removing it whilst it was stuck, but after it was removed it does not trigger the Air Command, and the worst part is it does not interact with the phone in anyway, not even as a stylus. :crying:
I only got it for a few days, and really hope you guys can help me solve this issue. If not I will send it for repairs and hopefully get it fixed for free or low cost.
Hi,
I have a similar problem after accitaly insert in wrong way.
The S pen work, but there is no detection anymore.
I had to remove every detection in settings, but I still have some notification about S pen removed.
(you can trigfer air commands by double click S pen bouton)
I would like to know if someone did repaire the sensor?
There is a switch inside the phone which you have broken by yanking out the pen after it was inserted the wrong way. There are videos on YouTube that explain it in detail.
Yes.
I would like to know if someone did repaire this switch, in a Samsung repair station?

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone else is having trouble getting dual screen or extended mode to work? My Axon M has those two options greyed out whenever I open the second screen. I'm attaching pics to explain, but this has been happening on mine for a while now I've tried resetting my whole phone, waiting to see if it would “load” those two buttons, tried changing settings, etc. Nothing is working.... I feel like I wanted my money on this awful phone which hates me. I'm also gonna include a pic of my settings in case that helps. Thank you to anyone who could help me figure this out! I really appreciate it
I am having this issue as well. It just started to happen though. Both those modes were working before, Now only the mirror is working for me.
Edit:
I have fixed the issue. The sensor that detects if the phone is fully open was not activating. I opened the phone and pressed firmly on the back of the main body. I heard a small click(something snapping into place). I think the body was a bit lose and the sensor was not actuating because of this.

I have the same issue with recently received phone.
I tried to push on the back - but didn't get the click and didn't help me.
I found the same issue and half solution - using magnet by tapping on the back of main screen - where the sensor is.
https://community.zteusa.com/discussion/54349/extended-dual-mode-not-working
Again it's not permanent solution - but at least it helps to solve the problem for one session with the phone.
Hi!
I know is an old phone and an old tread, but has anybody found a solution besides the magnet thing?
I have the same problem and It's kinda annoying having to carry a magnet with me for the phone
is there a way or an app to make the phone believe its always unfold, so i can just switch modes ?
