Hi,
Is there a way or a tool to encrypt internal memory on diamond.
I dont like the feeling when my phone gets stolen someone can just connect usb cable and download all my data, pics. even when the phone is locked you can get to the data whitout any password.
THX
There's a registry key you can add to have encryption in the settings:
HKLM\Control Panel\Encryption
Hide should be 0
try Viscrypt
You can install individual folders or single items
Works fine on my diamond
thk, i will try this.
my previous htc touch dual had an option to encrypt sd card so it would not be read in another device and it was also impossible to access memory without unlocking the device. i thought diamond is newer/ better so it should have this option to

ever since I lost the mini-sd card in my old 6700 on a restaurant floor I've always thought encrypting the memory card was a good idea. I keep alot of personal data on the card that I wouldn't want in someone elses hands.
Now that I moved to the Tilt I've turn that feature on and password locked the phone. Over the weekend I thought of a couple scenarios ... and now I am questioning the feature.
If for some reason I had to hard reset my Tilt, would it still be able to read the encrypted micro SD card?
Is the key between them software or something bound to hardware that wouldn't change in a reset?
For Proto732
Hello,
For "If for some reason I had to hard reset my Tilt, would it still be able to read the encrypted micro SD card? " :
If your Make a hard reset on your Kaiser your lost your key Encryption so you can't read you sd-card encrypted.
No Probleme on soft Reset.

The key is stored somewhere in the phone. If you were to able to find it and replace it after a hardreset, it ought to be ok.
Anyway, for me, I would keep my stuff in my phone Notes encrypted (i.e. use my software - on signature), or just one of the freeware wallet.
Thanks for the answers ... I found this also for anyone else looking for info on Encryption:

problem with an encypted memory micro sd
hi,
i have a problem with my encrypted memory. the display of my phone is broken and i dont know how to decrypt my memory card. i dont want to loose all my data.
thanks.
This issue is on an AT&T Tilt.
The phone would not see the SIM card and therefore all dialing and data connections could not be made. Along with AT&T tech support, we attempted to remove/replace the SIM card, soft resets, clear storage, and finally a hard reset with no SIM connection success (he told me it appeared to be a mechanical failure with the SIM port and they are sending me another phone Monday).
My problem is when I try to access saved photos, notes, spreadsheets, CABS, and other various files both on my reset tilt and the memory card; many of the files/photos/etc. are locked.
Is there a way for me to retrieve these files? I encrypted the card in Nov of '07 . . . I was under the impression that the same windows based mobile device could open the files.
Is there something in the clear storage or hard reset functions that prevents me from retrieving the files? This is EXTREMELY disconcerting considering the fact that some of the files are there and visible ???
When I tried to re-sync it to my laptop I didn't see any kind of a restore feature that could retrieve all the data or at LEAST open the files on the card ??
Anyone familiar with this situation? I'd like to retrieve/unencrypt my information so I can successfully transfer my memory card and all it's information to the new phone before I receive said replacement phone and have to send my defective phone into AT&T.
Thanks for any assistance.
Anyone have suggestions on retrieving the locked files?

if you read the instructions that the encryption program gives you when you click to encrypt files on sd it tells you that if you do a hard reset you will no longer be able to decrypt the files.. because hardresetting deletes i the "key" that is needed to decrypt the files ... so as far as simple terms go NO you are sol'ed. Now you could search google and see if someone has been able to do a "hack" or create a hacking program that can undo encryption but i don't know what luck you will have. I know, atleast haven't come across, anything here on xda of that nature.
This was my biggest fear. I totally forgot that I encrypted the card until I attempted to access the card after I hard reset.
What sucks the MOST about this is nothing software related caused the SIM failure; it was all mechanical. So a hard reset was not even necessary.
My problem is that my X1 has a broken screen and I cannot see squat. Therefore no possibility of navigating through menus, confirming any prompts, etc.
I would like to backup my pictures and videos from the internal memory before sending the phone for repair. However, when I plug-in the X1 to my PC, I can only see the SD card. i.e. ActiveSync is not running on the X1.
I think that if ActiveSync would run I would be able to connect to my PC and attempt at backing up the pictures that are in the internal memory.
Is there any way to activate the Activesync on the X1 via the SD card slot using some sort of autorun CAB that does not require and user intervention (remember my X1 screen is broken)?
Thx
you could attempt you use the physical keys on the X1 to activate it????
you've got a windows key on the keyboard so you could try that if you can remember what you had on your programs screen etc but that seems impossible otherwise i dont think there is a way - if the phone just has a problem where the screen ribbon has come out or something similar the repairers shouldnt hard reset it so - but you would need activesync in order to install a cab too unless you put it on the sd card and attempty to navigate blind
I heard that there is a way to autoinstall a cab file from SD card if it is in the root directory, or something. This is what I am after.
Hi,
my the screen of my 925 just got broken. The screen is not usable anymore. It is able to connect to the PC via USB and is vibrating when new notifications come in, so it might only the the display that doesn't work anymore. Also, my alarm clock keeps ringing because I can't turn it off.
I'd buy a new one, but I'm in the fear of not getting access to my data (WhatsApp history and stuff) ever again.
Is there a way to backup the phone with the broken screen and restore it to the new one? Or is there basically any way to get my data off the phone? Any OEM-Software that can do something like that?
Also, which data is actually getting backed up by the WP backup functionality? I don't think the app storage is a part of that (meaning the WhatsApp history and MS Authenticator).
I would actually physically open the broken device. AFAIK the entire phone storage is on a SD card inside. But I wouldn't open up my new phone. I don't know whether the data on the internal SD card is encrypted or not, so I don't know whether I can access the data on my PC or not.
Any idea what to do?
The data will be encrypted if you've connected it to any email accounts (typically corporate ones) with that requirement. It's possible there's other protections on the actual storage though; I don't know about that. I know that at least some phones use soldered storage (not an even semi-removable embedded uSD) but am not sure about the 925.
It's possible to get the data off using JTAG, but that requires a tricky bit of wiring and some fairly expensive equipment.
It's possible for WP8.1 apps to back up their data automatically (actually, it's possible for any app to do so, but WP8.1 added a way for an app to have the OS do it for you) but if your data hasn't already been getting backed up, you're in a tricky situation. You could use a screen broadcaster tool (that displays your phone's screen on your PC) but you'd need to launch it blind...
Hi guys,
Somehow I have lost all my files from Internal Storage. It's weird - they disappeared after unplugging the USB cable from my laptop the last time my phone was connected. Now only the default folders are there.
I want to use data recovery software to retrieve as many photos as I can salvage, but ofcourse the phone doesn't mount as a drive on a computer so I cannot do that. There are some other methods online like this one but they require root. As you all know, root isn't easy on the Z3 compact, and the only working method which doesn't require you to unlock your bootloader needs you to flash the firmware again so then I will lose all chance of recovering any data.
Right now I have stopped using this phone and have only received 5-6 emails and messages after losing all my data so hopefully its not overwritten yet.
Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you!
Impossible without root.
Found a way. Used WebDAV to make it a network location, mapped it as a drive on my pc, used regular data recovery software...
No way, did it actually work?

Nope
Turns out only my SD card was being scanned by the software and internal memory ignored...I found one software in the end that could scan the internal memory mapped as a network drive, however the reported success rate was lower than recovering data from a local drive and I had to buy it for some $500 so I just gave up in the end...I think it was called Active something...
