Ive never used or needed to use the wifi on my tilt but thought that since people use their tilt as an internet connection for their laptops, could i also use my kaiser as an internet connection for my psp? i just want to play games online with my psp at work and was wondering if the tilt was capable of this? With a price tag of 500 bucks you'd think it would be capable of anything, even a happy ending haha.

Damn, im using dutty's march 08 rom and i dont see wifi router in connections or anywhere on my tilt. Under settings, connections theres a wifi option but it looks like this option is only used to search for routers and connect to existing routers, not enable my phone to be a router. Anyone have a cab for wifi router or am i missing something? Thanks guys!
it really really worked?

I am trying to do exactly this. I am running a psp slim with cfw 3.71 and a kaiser with duttys 6.1 rtm with wmwifirouter 0.91 I tried several methods with no success. I allllmost wanna call bs on it actually working. Can you make a vid of it and upload to youtube or something. If you have it working then you are the only one of about 300 people who have documented their failure trying to accomplish the very same thing. Sharing your configuration would help many people out here. Lemme know!!!
Thanks,
J
Why would you need to do that? The PSP has WiFi built in.
True, but it's a pain when your not in a wifi area like my local pub having a couple of pints and you want to do a bit of online gaming

Any update on getting PSP for work with WMWifiRouter ?
Hell, I've connected to the Playstation Network on my PS3 through WMWifiRouter when the cable went out.
Look for it in .zip form, it doesn't need to install, it's just an exe

absolutely. The ping was over 200 for everything, I pretty much did it just to say I could.
Could you share your exact setup and settings? Never been able to get my PS3 to work with WMWifiRouter (PSP neither, btw, though didn't try the quoted firmware)

So I'm guessing there is a lot of Linux guys here and I have just bought a new HDD for installing Linux. So what do you guys recommend for a total newbie (with only Linux that is) like me?
Anything else than Ubuntu
Thanks
I reckon Ubuntu is your best bet Pretty n00b friendly
Edit: lol Just noticed the big writing saying not ubuntu my bad
Try looking here http://www.linux.org/dist/
Set language to english and intel compatible and it will show all the Linux Distributions Maybe just see wht you like the look off

Yep you would either need another harddrive or to partition your harddrive or to run in a VM
i was just gonna make another partition, and if i do, and it installs, will it automatically ask me which to boot from when i power it on?
Why not Ubuntu just out of curiosity. Don't want to start a flame war

i personally chose ubuntu, lol, how big would you say i need the partition to be?

I just think it's too common and too similar to Windows I want something new
Oh okay. If you try something "exotic" let us know your feedback!! I am going to do a reinstall on my computer soon and was thinking of switching away from Ubuntu just for the sake of trying something new so I'd like to hear some objective reviews.
Have you thought about "rolling your own"?

Sorry I meant you can make your own. There's a site dedicated to it but you might not want to do that just yet. Have you looked at OpenSuse? Haven't used it in a while but it was good. I tried the KDE version of Federa a month or two ago. A bit buggy! Mint Linux has had some good reviews anyway just my input!

Personally it's only the GUI I want to have some variety in so I'm trying out "Xubuntu" which I think is Ubuntu with XDE desktop-thing-which-I-don't-remember-what's-called-thing xD I did read about openSUSE but it was too much like Ubuntu I think
For a complete noob, Ubuntu is the way to go. It'll get you started pretty quick and the interface is just a matter of choice. If you want something that's uberHaxX0rZ, try installing a tiling Window Manager such as awesome instead of Gnome (which is default in Ubuntu).
I myself use Arch Linux with gnome-panel and Compiz as a standalone Window Manager and I'm loving it!
I myself am an Ubuntu man. I'm currently digging the Ubuntu 10.10 beta. 2 weeks until the final release!
I myself is trying to use the default window manager in Kubuntu but I can't get it working It's driving me crazy :/ It just says that non of the effects could be enabled...

This usually happens because the drivers for your graphics card aren't installed properly (or the card is ancient).
This is exactly one of the things why I personally dislike Ubuntu. If you're lucky, it'll work like a charm, but if you're not, you're gonna spend hours and hours trying to get it to work.
Either way, you can probably fix it by downloading and installing proprietary drivers for your card, since the open source ones probably don't work with your card. Though on the other hand, maybe you need to use opensource ones because the proprietary ones that installed automatically don't work? Who knows?

Currently no, I sent an email to wifirouter which made the great app for our HD2's and the only reply they gave me was no so good, and that for how they see the OS now, it doesnt allow for it.
Lets hope Windows fixes that. Cause we need that. I really really need that.
This one has been beaten to death in other threads but for what it's worth +1 for tethering feature here as well.

Doesnt do us much good, and I really hope they come out with it soon, even if it is third party like we had on the HD2, i hate dragging my HD2 around to see clients just to have that one feature.
Any news or rumor about hd7 tether we need the update really soon.

not that I have seen, my HD7 is a paper weight right now, since that is all it is good for, i got fed up with all the missing things went back to HD2.
Man, I'm right there with you. Same thing. Microsoft took a step backwards. Disappointment. I have to keep switching SIM cards to my AT&T tilt to tether. Serious BS.
all these answers have really really pushed me back, not buying until MS fixes all or most of the common things, tether, bluetooth atleast
I just got HD7 from ebay and got in love with it and the WP7 system in one hour time. But last and most important thing for me that I checked was usb tethering.
What a disappointment.
I hope M$ will make it soon available or I'll get rid of the phone unfortunately

Eh u just got the phone, give it a few days, ull grow to hate it
But yes, tethering not present is a big let down, along with many missing items, and the mid January BIG update, is nothing more then new fixes for market place and cut/paste to shut us up, which is still not here soooooo....
thats why im glad i kept my HD2
has anyone tried using the DFrouter xap posted in the hd2 development forum? You need a jailbroken device for that though..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=922000
First, is there any updates concerning tethering on the HD7? And second, why is everyone blaming Microsoft when they have already said that its availible but up to the carriers to offer it?
hey i was wondering if someone would help me install ubuntu on my win7 hp laptop now i tried this erlier via the usb method but i almost killed my computer my computer restarted and i got a black screen of death and i went into recovery and it hung on automatic system repair for about 40min and i was about 2min away from doing a full wipe on my computer and starting over luckily it finished and my computer restarted and all is good now. so now im ready for round 2 however i would really like some outside help before i try and tackle this again blindly lol.
so would someone please pm me and ill send u my gtalk info.
thx in advance.
I would imagine ubuntu hasn't changed all that much since I last tried the distro. Plus editing partitions is almost universally the same so I'll help you one of these nights (Mon- Wed) if you don't get help from someone else before hand.
Edit: actually I'm back in my town again, so tonight could possibly work out as well depending on when you're free. (I'm free between ~7-10pm CST then I have some things to take care of)

Walk away man... you almost bricked your hero and with the help of xda members you got it back up. Be grateful. This is the general section. Plus its linux. Which is what you have in your hand. In turn which is a hero... which has....linux.... so yes it has to do with the hero....
Enough sarcasm?
®patience is a virtue©
Good to hear that you got it installed.
JFYI - Ubuntu has an option where it can be installed as a directory within Windows. I have not used that option, but it did come up when I installed it, last time.
yea ubuntu is pretty sweet kind of buggy though im glad i only did a 20gig partition lol
try running arch linux no bugs here

OK, I understand that there is many "Hackintosh" video guides out there to be found...
Would it be worth my time to create a step by step guide?
Or would I be wasting my time considering XDA Computing Fourm is not what the majority come here for?
Cheers ;0
When I look for a guide/walk-though, my Google/DuckDuck search starts with xda (then normally github) before a general search.
I do not think it would be a waist of time to write up a step by step guide.
It looks like there is some interest already.
macOS on my Lenovo G400 xdaThread - Link
This is a new part of xda and the more involvement the bigger it will grow.
The little bit I have read about Hackintosh, there always seems to be issues making everything work.
A good guide and general discussion thread would be a big help.
I would not be surprised if more than a few xda members are hackintosh users.
Cheers.

I agree!!.. XDA Computing forums might be small right now but I believe it is going to grow super quick...
I will need to do some poking around and see what the best options are for making a guide
There is so many different PC hardware that may or may not be compatible with Hackintosh..
