Why there is no sticky for the major problem? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

I wonder why there is no sticky about the major problem with the Diamond, the powerconsumption or batterylifetime.
I can find lots of questions about this subject but untill now I can't find a place where all the tweaks about this subject are bundeld.
You maid say "Where your waiting for" but my English isn't good enough to do so.
Maybey a idea for someone?

hi,
what is your battery lasting?
10-18 hours a day without using the phone or wifi gps etc.....you have a bad batch and should be replaced.
36 - 48 hours, of "normal" operations, no gps little phone usage, little wifi,....you have a normal diamond
Keep in mind that if you use a gps software with only the battery power the diamond last about 2-3 hours..
so take your conclusion.

no sticky need
well know issue and lots of threads about this matter
just hit search and see what i mean

I now that the tweaks are here at the forum I have aplied the most of them but as soon I give my phone a hard reset I have to remeber al the tweaks and when they are just at one point it could make it much easyer to find them and to find aswell the newest tweaks for batterysaving..
For example I discovered just about 3 month ago that when you disable your GPS comport it will give a good increase off your battery time.

Kaiser battery drain

Seen a lot of posts about battery but no real solution, still wandering if following normal ... I bought my Kaiser 1 month ago, had trouble with device, like some other here, when Kaiser just went dead, get it to service and back and now is working smoothly, but with a "small" problem.
Having battery charged full to 100%, after 3 hours of work on battery inclusive of 58 minutes talk it is down on 73% power only. Checked all posts but have not managed to figure out if it is normal. Taking information from booklet, should have available 420 minutes of talk time on GSM settings.
(according to my math after 3 hours of described usage, should have used 14-15% not almost 30%)
CHECKED ALL, NO BLUETOOTH ON, NO WIFI ON, NO G3, to the best of my knowledge, all battery eaters are off.
Any advice on settings...or back to service...which is bad solution as last time they returned it to me with wrong gsm setting and I have had to use net to ,find solution.
Thanks in advance
It's normal. For god's sake, what do you expect? A Nokia?
Suggestion: put the screen off while talking.

Battery Power Poor. Any advise?

Hi.
I don't seem to last a day without recharging my battery (either by USB or Outlet).
I have some useful programs but I'm afraid to use them sometimes because my phone wont last the day.
On a regular day, without extreme program usage (WiFi, GPS, games etc), just regular phone calls (GSM not 3G), my battery power lasts maybe 18 hours.
If i used 1/4 of my installed programs moderetely, my battery power lasts for about 10-12 hours.
I would like your professional advise to better by battery life.
1. Would changing my ROM to a better modified one solve my issue?
2. Is there a backround process (that is not detected my my task manager) working that I should know about?
3. Are there any tweaks (non registry) that I can do to better the life?
4. Are there any registry fixes that can be done to better the life?
5. Do third party cabs (SPB etc.) drain the battery life even if they are idle?
6. Does letting my battery fully drain and then fully charging it over and over really help the overall battery life?
FYI: I have the OEM ROM, my phone had never been Hard reseted before
I have tried all sorts of things, but I cannot manage to get my phone to last more than a day.
I would really appreciate your advise.
Thanks.
P.S please dont tell me that you people go 2-3 days without charging (that would hurt my feelings )
my kaiser lasts about 10 hours if heavily used, I mean 3G internet always on, browsing with opera mini all while listening to MP3s..
With normal usage and 3G coverage (but classic talks, not video ones) it last al least 2 days..
that's strange
Hi,
i managed to have good power after alot of research and tweaks on this forum.
-disable 3g service
-make sure no application auto-enable wifi, make sure its off.
-make sure device is set lock all buttons
on normal days with just afew calls and very little surfing, i my battery life is the same as other non-pda phones!

Default ROM sucks. The registry is setup completely ineffecient (like all M$ software) so eats capacity and battery.
Best thing to do is check the 'Kaiser upgrading' thread and compare the radio version you have with what's posted there and see if you could improver performance. I'm still on the original radio that it cam with, but trying multiple Rom's dramatically improved battery life. That and speed and performance. Their is much to gain, my friend.
I advise you read the articles about CID and SIM unlocking before attemting to flash anything.
Upgrade your radio to 1.27.12.17/32, turn off 3G and flash some clean ROM (like Q-Mobile - see in my signature )
My phone can survive now more than 3 days on normal usage. Before it could live 2-3 days max.

Just got my Kaiser yesterday. Left it to charge all night and removed it by 7:30 am. At 16:00, battery shows 14% left?!?!?!?
What the heck?
Did all the power tweaks from KaiserTweak.
Lets see how it goes without 3G and with the tweaks I did today.
ROM: 1.81.415.4 WWE
Radio 1.27.15.32
Protocol: 22.51.88.13H
it can't be stated enough how quickly your battery will die if you have your mailboxes checking for new mail 'as they come in' or 'every 5 minutes', etc. if you have important emails your expecting then turn it to those settings, but if you don't care if you get your mail only every hour then go that route - it makes a big difference in the battery life.. also make sure you have the disconnect option in kaiser tweak set on - i have mine set at disconnect after 2 minutes.. and finally, if you can get away with using edge then have your phone always set to edge and only set to 3g for web surfing - pulling down your text based email in edge and not 3g is usually a pretty negligible difference.
on a side note, i bought a 3000mAH battery for about $70.. it improves the battery life a decent amount, but the reality is is that if you use the GPS for 2-3 hours without having it plugged in while using the GPS then you can always expect the battery to be dead by the end of the day (or sooner).. if your going to use it as a GPS then have it plugged in..
its all about wifi...turn it off if not needed.
This has been discussed in many previous threads.
All the above are applicable and also get rid of any fancy today plugins that show data state (WiFi-phone) and battery condition as they are constantly running and polling the relevant devices.
You will see a VAST difference when you do that.

Significantly improve battery life

Hi all,
After 2 days of testing this tweak, I have booked really good results with my Diamond.
The phone has been on and not connected to charger or computer for over 48 hours now, and the battery has dropped only to 50%. That's right, two full days and nights of stand-by time, with an occasional call here and there, a couple of text messages, and reading some email.
Before this tweak I had to charge the Diamond already after 24 hours or less.
So if you have low battery life problems, give this a go:
Advanced config tools -> disable the setting "GPRS auto attach"
Read about this setting here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=395301&highlight=GPRS+auto+attach
Have fun and enjoy the longer battery life
But this has been discussed already and is only any good if you don't rely on GPRS a lot throughout the day surely? I mean I use Exchange and I'm sure it wouldn't work for me if I tweaked this setting.
Works great if you dont use the phone all that much but doesnt make much of a difference if you do make calls, send and receive sms texts..email send and receive etc etc.
Ive enabled that tweak and i still find the battery to be utterly rubbish for a phone of this power. Sure it helps conserve some of the battery but i can guarantee you that by 7pm tonight my phone will be dead...like it happened to me yesterday...went to work yesterday battery was 100%...made 3-4 calls...in total spent about 30 mins on the phone...browsed the internet for about 20 mins...sent and received 30 texts...watched a few youtube vids...checked my email a few times...not really heavy usage but by 7pm my phone was dead.
Not impressed with HTC and their monumental screw up with this battery..900mah is just not enough for this device if you want to use it properly that is. You would have thought they would have learned from Nokia when they first released their N95, that had a terrible battery on it as well...although with the n95 8gb the battery is much much better. Why they felt it only needed 900mah is quite beyond me...plus the battery gets hot which proves to me that the battery is not up to the job imo. Luckily the phone is good or else id have sent it back by now...guess ill have to wait for the extended battery to make an appearance. In fact i find the battery so rubbish that ive had to order a spare usb synch cable so i can charge my phone here at work.
Guys, if you want to substantially improve your battery life, go with a newer 1.37 ROM.
The older 1.35 ROM has serious battery life problems, there isn't much you can do about it without to cripple full functionality.
Where can i get the 1.37 ROM?
It isn't available in the e-club on htc.com
It's linked in the Diamond ROM Development forum.
You need to install the developer version of the HardSPL first, then install one of the 1.37 roms - I'm using the official HTC HK-English one with the 1.37.707.1 rom in it.
Works a treat for me - though I haven't had it on long enough to test battery time extensively yet.
I'm on the 1.37 rom, was on the 1.34 with my first unit and the battery is much better. I'm also noticing that the battery improves with 'age'. Plus I've got the dock on the way when it's released so that will help things no end I'm sure. When I'm in the car I shove a normal mini usb cable in from my Sony CD player and of course the upside of that is it will also play my music too instead of using USB drives. At work I use a spare USB and plug it in.
The battery is poo but having worked it in to a routine like that I hardly notice it now.
Unhooked my Diamond last night 22.00-ish from the usb cable and while I am typing now the battery is still more than 80% charged.
Texted alot today, called approx. 30 mins, checked my e-mail several times and played around with google maps for 20 minutes or so.
I did not tweak anything except that I flashed the 1.37 ROM and installed the newest Google-maps thingy.
So I can confirm that the new ROM saves alot of energy and that the battery-life gets better in time sounds also plausible.
With the 1.35 ROM the battery lasted 12 hours max with the same activities.
I've found that after a few days the battery is actually better than it was wen new. Must be that charge/discharging it a few times has helped...

actually I find your usage is a lot. during the day i will make one or two phone calls say 10 minutes. send an average of 5 sms texts and maybe check my email for a minute or 3. what takes most of my battery is when i read an ebook or do a game.

Maybe it is but for me i dont think its that high...as i said my nokia n95 8gb would last a good day or 2 before going completely dead and thats with the sort of usage that i described earlier. Anyways i have a synch cable coming which ill keep at work to charge the Diamond.
hey battery life is better after this tweak. but my 3g logo has changed... it's now in some greyish box... anyone know what this means?
I think this means that the network knows it's available but you haven't attached to the data service. I used to get a similar greying out of the globe icon on my P1i if the net knew it was there but I had unattached manually.
Hi i am novice with my HTC touch diamond & i am also facing the same problem of battery life.
you've shown some solution over there in your post. please, can you tell me where in my phone i need to go to apply this settings.

Problem: very weak battery, even for the diamond!

Hello guys!
It's nearlly my first posting here, but i'm reading this forum for quite a while now.
I finally got an Xda diamond and everything was ok the first couple of days, even the battery was satisfying. When i use it really much, the battery lasts for about a day, that's ok. But 2 days ago, suddenly the battery got empty from 100% down to 0% in 7 hours, although i did not use the phone much. I had a call for about an hour and that's it.
Knowing there are some possibilities to save energy, i followed some advice from this forum:
- took down the display light to stage 2
- switched off UMTS
- switched off GPS
- installed powermanagement.cab
- switched off RSS Hub auto-download
- made sure there are no applications running in the background all day
- made sure there are no data-connections like Bluetooth or GPRS running all day
I also installed PowerGuard v1.2 which told me, my Diamond drains about 65 mA, what seems to be a proper value, comparing to other peoples around here.
This morning i took the Diamond off the charging cable at 8:00 and it switched off at 16:00. I only used it for a 1 hour phone call again, thats all. I did not do anything else with it.
I don't unterstand, why it lasted much longer the first couple of days. Anybody have an idea?
Thx so far!
1. Check with Task Manager Cpu proccess
2. Hard Restet ?
I have the same problem AND additionally sudden softresets.
The battery is defect. I will buy a new one and o2 will refund the money.

The battery is not supposed to get empty to anywhere near 0%, it can be damaged if it does. The phone is supposed to turn off to prevent that happening.
If killing tasks does not help, maybe you just got a bad battery? Edit: ^^^ What he said!
Here's a useful link for information on Li-ion batteries: http://www.batteryuniversity.com/parttwo-34.htm
Hi!
I recently found the solution. My sim-card was too old! I had been using it for about 4 years. A couple of days ago, I ordered a new one from my provider (O2 Germany) for free. Since I changed the sim-card, I never had any problems with the battery anymore.
Why didn't I find this advice anywhere?
Cheers
Your SIM card was "too old"? My technical prowess is nothing to brag about, but even I can tell you that that could hardly have been the cause.
Older Sims seem to drain more battery power...
I have to agree with H3x ... I don't see how a SIM card would have any effect on battery life.
As a point of reference, I'm very satisfied with my battery life. I charge it for an hour or two a couple times a week. I am diligent about turning off WiFi, Bluetooth, and running apps when not in use, but other than that I don't do anything special.
With GSM band manually selected in phone options and moderate use, my diamond can last over 2 days, with "auto" band selection it barely lasts a day...it just drains stock battery so much, even in standby...but I still can't be happier with my device, no matter what
Decided to watch battery more carefully over PowerGuard, some things started to make more sense...

Yeah, I have that selected too, so I'm sure that helps. Maybe the OP should try it?

Battery Life hacks? Which one?

Hi,
I came across this cab file today for the Kaiser http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2132767&postcount=151
its right said:
ok guys, some of you want to increase the battery life, i attached a cab file which contains these registries:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\L2TP1\Parms]
"DisablePowerManagement"=dword:0
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Irsir1\Parms]
"DisablePowerManagement"=dword:0
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\AsyncMac1\Parms]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\PPTP1\Parms]

all of these can improve the battery life, but if you face any issues with WiFi, just check these registries .

This is the best hack out there.
http://cgi.ebay.com/AT-T-TILT-8925-...s?hash=item1c05a465c2&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116
if I not wrong, sp call battery hack ..it not really hack to battery, It only reduce the phone keep searching the network (which consume a lot battery ...according to some forum).
I think this one better ..2800mah ...
http://www.lelong.com.my/Auc/List/2...00-110-120-O2-XDA-Stellar-2800mAh-Battery.htm
My phone will last about 3 days by measurement if I'm not running Flexmail with two mailboxes online. Otherwise, 14 hours.
Want a full day out of your Tilt? Limit network activities, or interactive activities, and don't use the GPS. Network, backlight, and GPS are probably the biggest power users on the Tilt. I assume WiFi too, but the only thing I've used WiFi on my Tilt is for scanning for open access points.
Sorry bumping thread couple of months old....
I've got a Kaiser HTC TyTN II and my battery is a shame.... i can't get it until the end of the day, always getting empty at the end of the day....
What can i do to improve the battery life time?
I've installed those cabs, but nothing really happens....
My phone idle during the night takes like 20-25% of the total battery.
I just use my phone to make and receive calls (lot of them), and sometimes the bluetooth when staying at the car.
Some time ago i ordered a 2800mah battery, but i really don't want to carry always a replacement battery with me, besides its really heavy and big....
Thank you for you advices.

There's an old saying begars can't be choosers... Kinda makes sense you want better battery life yet you want to stick to stock battery.
Ummmm? Buy a OEM new stock battery if the size of 2800 is too much? To be honest the Tilt is a brick anyway so i'm happy to have aprx 1cm added to the base... Also maybe time to try all the Radio's available to see if you can get better battery life, while @ it hard-reset device to start from fresh
