In need to know the voltage across the diamond standard battery (900mAh) when the battery is fully charged and when the battery is fully discharged (the phone automatically switched off)
Could someone give me this information?
When my battery is low I read 3.2V
When my battery i high I read 4.1V
Is this correct?
That's about right, +-.1
Thanks, I've a lot of problems with the charging and discharging cicles, this information could help me to understand
While which is the charge current when the battery is fully discharged?
For my Diamond it can be very high, up to 800mA (I know it from BatteryStatus), it is a normal value?

Try a program, "PowerGuard", it's a very nice (and free) program developed by Muyz that will give you current and temp info, including graphs with a lot of flexibility in settings. You can get a good feel of where the current draws are. I think charge current is in the area of 700-800mA on initial charge.
Or another called Battlog. It,s better because it logs the measurements - on Powerguard it's difficult to see the actual (current, not in electrical, but in time sense ) measurement.
Thanks I'm going to try them
For now I'm testing Batlog...
This evening I'm going to make a full charging log, so I could post it tomorrow
Could you do the same? This could give me the possibility to compare them
I'm experimenting some problems with the charging circuit

I agree with mjaxa, since your post I've found and installed Battlog. Works great on my Diamond. Very robust program and easy to read the log file or import into excel for analysis.
I have no idea why I didn't find this software when searching for a good battery monitor for my Diamond except I must have not used "log" in my searchs.
Thanx mjaxa.......

I should, of course, also thank Palladium TD now that I've found the source for this fine program.
I'll also add that while the data logging is very good, I found that some of the functions do not work on my Diamond (US ROM 1.93). I know it's a beta program or maybe I just haven't figured it out yet. Using 0.2.3.130 beta I have noted:
No response on the help and other icon on the left side, battery temp read is off by a factor of 10 (noted on the Battlog thread) and cum use (mAh) does not display.
I'll post the comments on the correct thread.
In the following I reported the log of my battery charging cycle in txt and graphic format
If you can post comments or other logs, I'll appreciate
P.s. another bug in Battlog (I'think) is related to the sampling interval, as you can note observing the X axis on my plots: it is not constant in time
No one want help me with a charge/discharge log?
With the holidays I haven't had too much time to work with battlog and the phone use is not typical. I did run about 16 hrs of data and it does give some insight.
Charging overnight looked normal with current draw cycles at 2hr intervals for mail checks.
I was going to upload the excel file, but the format isn't permitted. The txt file is too large. I'll mess with it some more, but I didn't see anything that was unlike your data. 800ma on initial charges, -200ma on using various applications and phone calls, as much as -800ma on internet use and -9 to -20ma on locked standby. I did not see what I'm looking for which is an unexplainable deep discharge, overnight or during the day, I'll keep monitoring.
Hey everyone. I recently purchased a 8925, and am experiencing the battery drain issue that some others have mentioned. I used to own a 8125 and its battery life was much longer (easily 3 days of my usage). I installed batterystatus on the tilt and it seems at idle with all apps closed its pulling 60-60 mA, where my 8125 used 10-15mA. Has anyone come up with a solution for this? I currently have 3.29 hardspl with the stock wm6.1 installed.. any help is much appreciated

turn the lcd brightness down, get kaiser tweak...set your mobile internet connection to go off after a period of a minute or two of non usage (thats a big one)
I have done these above listed, brightness down all the way, i disabled the internet connections with nodata, and i did a couple things with kaisertweak (sd power management). This seems to have no effect on the drain
Less is better when it comes to longer battery life....

Maybe all the extra bits of software and utilities that have been installed are gobbling up those CPU cycles (and consequently the battery charge). I have a very basic setup on my TyTN II and reducing the screen brightness right down as well as changing to GSM (rather than 3 G) makes a huge difference in battery life. Even disabling HSDPA and resorting to just 3G makes a difference. It's time to simplify things I think and rather than installing apps to stop a data connection starting up for example, delete any data connection settings on the phone and simply don't do anything that may require a data connection.
How long are you getting out of a charge, doing what sorts of things how often? I'm sure if you hard reset back to the basic ROM and test again with just these few changes, you'll notice a big difference
If I simply flash the stock ATT rom on the phone, and install batterystatus to view my drainage, it is still at 47mA. It seems turning off all the data stuff saves maybe 10mA... i understand that a bad battery would drain faster but would that make the 47mA on standby? i thought that measured how much the phone was using? maybe the battery is bad. just yesterday i left at 7:30am with a full charge. I litterally sent maybe 4 text messeges and maybe a 3 minute phone call, the rest of the day it was on standby, and at 7:30pm it was down to about 34%! this is unacceptable!
Does anyone know what batterystatus reads? either the rate that the battery is losing power or the rate the phone is using it. is it possible that the battery is bad and would cause it to drain at a higher amperage? i know a bad battery drains faster but dont know about this.
I feel your problem. My tilt is so bad that it still drains while charged in the car. Maybe a bad battery but this is crazy.
ok I talked on the phone today more than usual (maybe an hour max!) and it shows that the battery drains super fast when making a call, which to me says the battery is just toast because a call uses more power. I was hoping to find a solution but i think I will just purchase a new battery.
how about buying a slim extended battery on ebay, the 1600mah one. You will definitely notice a difference

Well from what I hear the ATT ROMs have lots more 'stuff' than the native HTC ROMs but whether that means more CPU cycles are used when those programs aren't started I doubt. It's really background utilities that'll be of concern. Rather than installing software (which itself will use battery charge) to see why your battery charge is going down so quickly, what's wrong with going about your normal usage without non-essential utilities and keeping an old fashioned log of how long a full charge lasts and what activities for how long you used your device for? If you try some of the suggestions already given and keep a careful log, you will notice a marked improvement - I did. Whether you wan't to keep those changes though is important. I found the screen was just to difficult to see at low brightness settings when out in the sunshine so I've set it back to a high level and carry 2 spare batteries with me when I'll likely be out and about using the device for a full day - I've yet to get through all three batteries in a day and they're compact enough to easily carry around. With my cradle that has a battery recharge bay, I can also recharge all my batteries overnight.

hey guys,
I got my car dock a couple days ago and started using it day 1.
impressions:
its sexy but a little hard to move around (prob cuz its new)
but i have a major problem with the nexus one heating up to almost 120 degrees Fahrenheit! and this troubles me cuz i dont want my battery to lose its charge capacity.
and if im on lets say 50% battery and i drive somewhere for 10-15 min using the navi on the car dock
the temp shoots up to 115-120 and the charge goes down to ~30%
anyone else having a problem with overheating while in the car dock?
i used it during the day and night (only to check if the sun was affecting it)
no change in results
i used it with every option on the power control widget off
i ran Advanced task manager and ended all apps before launching navigation
im considered a tech whiz
so ive put this thing through its paces
and they only way to not have my phone burn hotter than the atlanta summer sun is by turning the screen off and listening to the navi...not veiwing it while its on charge and keeping all wireless options and sync off except GPS
ideas greatly appreciated....
oh yeah
rooted n1
running cyan 5.0.6xx if its any consolation...
and its not undervolted...(problem? but then what about non rooted phones)
EDIT:
oh and today
after using the n1 and removing it from the car dock the screen was not responsive. couldnt use it to navigate
has to reboot the phone
I also noticed my Nexus heated up to 40-42 degrees C while using GPS with Screen on for 15 minutes. Burning hot.
no one has any problems?
ive been noticing its msotly because of the sun that it gets scorching hot but at night it does rise past 115 degrees F
120 degrees fahrenheit (49 degrees celsius) is not very hot for computer parts. The reason it reaches those temperatures I guess is because of google maps (if you used that for navi). When you use google maps it's almost constantly using your data connection and that is one of the most battery intensive tasks if I remember correctly.
Oh and I wouldn't classify a little over 40 degrees celsius as burning hot, I've been to places hotter than that, but I guess it's subjective
Seems that overheating is mainly an issue for those running Cyanogen's ROM, no?
My N1 can get hotter than 50 Celsius in under 10 minutes. It's really a bit frightening. I have noticed, however, that this ONLY occurs when the battery is not near full. Turning the screen off seems to help cool it down (more testing needed). However, turning off the screen doesn't help when you need it for gps.
I am using cyanogen, but not the cyanogen kernel. Overheating occurs both in sunlight and at night. I believe it occurred while not running google maps as well, but I can't remember for sure.
I've had no problems, but I did notice how hot it was. I figured it was because of the sun since I had it mounted on my window glass.

Google maps only uses a data connection when it initally pulls down the route information and when it needs to recalculate the route.
You can put your phone into airplane mode after the inital pull and google maps will still function as expected (Except it will not pull down new maps if you stray from the path).
The issue is that you are trying to charge the phone and use it at the same time. The mechanism for doing this charges the battery and depletes the battery at the same time, this makes a really hot battery.
Keeping the screen off when its not needed in the dock and you will have less heat issues when you need to charge your phone in the car dock.

yeah this car dock i am really getting mad at
i wasted 60 bucks for something that heats the hell out of my phone
i listen to music so loud the bluetooth speaker isnt loud enough to tell me where to turn when the screen is off so...
i guess ill try out enomthers rom with the UV kernal and report back
the major cause of it is the sun
because at night the phone doesnt go over 100 degrees F when using the navi

Does anyone having this problem use "set cpu"?
I had a the same problem because my cpu was set to 998 during charging. so then I had the three main things that cause heat ganging up. battery, gps and cpu. All i did was set the cpu to 806 while charging and the heat problem went away...
I imagine that the stockers don't have this problem because they are under-clocked...
The main problem is the sun. I have Rodriguez's rom with the overclock and the only thing causing it to heat up is the sun.
Setting the CPU lower I will try but on setcpu I don't set it to userspace anymore. Its set to ondemand and no profiles set. Ill set a profile for overheating at 120°F to max 806mhz

Hi,
I've tried to search for a solution but haven't find any. You know there is a message when battery temperature gets too high then charging stops. The popup message is very very annoying: I use navigation and blackbox while driving. And when this message comes I have to press OK, and 5 secs after it appears again... very very annoying.
I agree with not to overheat the battery but why not just stop charging without this message? Is there any trick to eliminate this? In summer time and sunny days this msg comes very often. I have to place a piece of plastic to car's ventillation hole to minimizing the chance of this msg.
I don't care if it's charging or not, I just don't want to see this msg.
Please help if you have any idea!
I'm on stock JVR now, rooted, underclocked @ 800MHz. Other ROMs (CM7, MIUI) just stops carging without any message.
Had the same problem awhile back, reflash jvr, and dont use undervolting/overclocking programs/kernels.

+1 Dont OC/uV too much.
My apologies guys, but please read: I don't use OC/UV, I use stock and underclock.
With normal use and simple charging everything goes well but under heavy use I get this message while charging. Under heavy use I mean navigation, blackbox, and of course phone is at the windscreen while heated by the sun. The phone's glass is hot. It's normal of course because I use CPU intensive apps.
I repeat: I don't care about charging or not, just want this message to be disappeared.
I just unplug mine from the charger when this pops up. It happens with me in exactly the same circumstances. GPS navigation, dashboard of the car, and bright sunny days, it's not an overclock issue, just high ambient heat source, high cpu usage plus charging.
I also find it's aggravated by the silicon skin case I use.

Yes I'm doing the same as workaround. But other ROMs just stop charging and continue when phone cooled down without any message. It would be very nice to just remove this message by a script or editing a script or something else (I'm not a dev just an "I-like-to-hack" power user).
DO your devices get extremely hot at all? Mine did ,to the point that it was to too hot to handle, im surprised the dam thing did not exploded.
As for removing the message i have not a clue how too, i do know however that is is triggered by the thermal sensors.
I can also recall this happening with my windows mobile devices a few times, this happened when the gps services were stuck working in the background.
In all occasions the only fix a found was to re flash the rom.

No, it's not too hot, it's just warm enough. I don't say it's abnormal because in direct sunlight while charging and using cpu intensive apps it's normal. Just try to figure out is there any chance to do this all without this message...
Ok, I'll wait for someone who knows something or know someone who has seen someone who know something...
Referring to other threads I'm not the only one with this problem and not SGS is the only one with this problem.
While this message is not needed and has no function it has to be eliminated some way because tapping OK is very disturbing while driving/navigating/etc...
Script? Kernel patch/hack? Something? If some ROMs can do it (like MIUI) there must be a way to have it disappeared...
I had the same problem with a Galaxy S II today. First, it began to warn me that was starting charging. And 1 second later it warn the Power Saving was activated and the charger was turned off.
Later, it said 'Charging pause. Voltage too high'. When I've tried to power off the phone, it was powering on by itself.
During the morning, I've used the phone to consume battery. At the afternoon, I put it via USB cable and it seems the problem is solved, for now.
I'm using the ICS ROM beta, by Samsung, have some days.
Hey guys,
I've been having some issues recently with battery drain on my Turbo which I think is related to an unncessarily high CPU usage for apps that shouldn't be that demanding. Let me start way back
I work in a radiation shielded environment so I keep my phone in airplane mode at work with WiFi on. I don't think this has to do with the phone constantly searching for signal.
I also greenify apps like an OCD madman. I do have a Moto 360 1st gen paired to my phone along with a pair of bluetooth stereo headphones essentially all the time. I've been using amplify to block location based wakelocks and to override the sync rate to every 10 minutes instead of push for certain google apps. I've been watching the wakelocks closely and I haven't found anything like rogue programs as far as I can tell eating up battery (i.e. apps I wasn't already actively aware of running). Adaptive brightness is enabled but attentive display (where it's supposed to watch you) is disabled. I use moto display including the IR sensor wave gesture. I don't use the alarm gesture. I don't use Moto Assist.
My issue basically has been with listening to music/radio from my phone. Streaming radio from Tune In Radio Pro dropped my battery about 10% in 20 minutes with the screen on (I was texting and reading emails on the bus while listening to it). The phone was definitely hot to the touch. If I disable internet and do the same thing with Google Play music and local storage, the battery is slightly better but still drops significantly. Again, the phone ends up feeling like it's running hot. I looked at the CPU states under Bettery Battery Stats and the phone was at fairly high clock speeds (20% 1.73 GHz, 5% 2.65 GHz). I don't know if this was the definitive way to establish this.
Here's the kicker though. I enabled Android's battery saver option (it says it basically disabled sync, vibrate, and throttles the CPU) and have been running radio/music with FAR better battery drain. Like barely a percent or 2 in a half hour. I know that with sync disabled I would expect better battery too but the phone isn't hot and it wasn't always like this.
I'm running Computer Freak's 1.2.6 unlocked ROM. I guess my main question would be could I selectively choose power save features (i.e. CPU throttling WITHOUT disabling sync, vibrate, etc.) or is there any way to figure out why these apps end up making the phone run hot? Thanks!

If you used baybutcher's custom kernel, you could throttle the CPUs frequencies, and set a more power saving CPU governer, as well as other battery saving options.
That would probably require you to flash RR.

You could try messing around with Kernel Adiutor from the Play Store to control throttling.
Thanks guys I'll give those suggestions a shot and see how it works. I also did reflash my rom and modules and that seemed to help slightly as far as the overheating for today at least.

You might also want to constantly check for updates every week or so.
Also take advantage of the AMOLED screen to save battery i.e. use black themed apps, themes, wallpapers. Avoid white backgrounds wherever possible, avoid using the phone at max brightness (that'll kill your screen very fast.)
Hey any updates? I am running unrooted and have been noticing after I open certain apps my phone starts heating up and the battery draining. I haven't had much time to do troubleshooting but it seems that certain apps, not sure yet which ones, have runaway loops that end up eating up the processor and draining the battery. I am willing to root if I have to to solve this, but would prefer not to. Let me know if you have found anything out.
