I have an original HTC TP. When connected to my PC (Vista 32 bit) active sync works and the TP is recognized. When I want to browse the contents of TP I cannot see anything? The content window shows 0 files? I've checked my folder settings and they are set to view all hidden and sys files. Even when I go to "my computer" and click on the TP icon, the content window opens and there's nothing there? I've disabled antivirus and firewall and still nothing? This is driving me crazy...

If you turn on Active Sync you can see everything when plugged into your PC. If you have it on Disk Drive, you will only see your storage card.

I have it set on Activesync and when I browse my device, there's nothing there? Shows an empty window with 0 files.
I know with mine I had to choose show hidden files and uncheck "hide protected operating system files"

I've tried that as well. Still shows 0 files.
Yout need to go into your USB to PC connection settings (start\settings\connections\USB to PC). Uncheck enable advanced network functionality. This should work. The only thing you really want checked or bolded on that page is the ActiveSync (Sync with Outlook) at the top of the page.
Hope this helps.

Is There a way to View Full Directories Of Kaiser In Vista ????
if i connect through windows vista and try to browse the device i only see a few folders like the basics; my documents, program files, application data
but when i connect it on Windows XP Active Sync 4.5 it shows me full directries like windows> subfolders
application data>sub folders
and everything located on the device,
ahs anyone the same problem?
same thing for me trying to view the Windows folder on my Tilt using Vista. Tried changing folder options to show hidden folders, and even tried typing the address into the browser, but no luck.
I would be interested to hear a solution.
you need a special browser, such as resco file explorer.
such as the common WINDOWS folder is hidden, go to properties and uncheck "hidden" problem solved. Now your computer can see the hidden folder WINDOWS. (may take a while to load files within windows)
To answer the OP, in Vista in your view of the Kaiser folders, click on Organise, Folder Options, View Tab, select show hidden files and ALSO SELECT show system files and folders... (which is just below it)

Yes, I was going to post this too. By Default Vista assumes you are stupid and hides certain files and folders from you.

CORRECT!! I love vista I find it so much more user friendly than XP
@ unwired4
Thanks, that worked. I missed the Hide System files check box when I tried it.
Ok i was looking and i did what you say about uncheking the box of HIDE PROTECTED OPERATING SYSTEM FILES; and it shows them but, why they are in vista PROTECTED OPERATING SYSTEM FILES and on XP Just hidden Files???
also why takes so long to show them???
Does anyone know how to access the windows folder when syncing in Vista? I used to be able to edit my windows folder through my pc when I had xp but now that i have vista there is pretty much now what to get to that my device folder to get to the windows folder. I've been trying to figure this out for a month, and I am not quite sure of what to type to even begin searching because the things that I type come back with negative results.
Go to tools>folder options>view>check show hidden files and folders.

Thanks Alot Dude that worked like a charm. I would have never figured that out. That was really starting to bug me cause I was use to controlling my whole phone through active sync with Xp and before now I couldn't
Is there any way to view/edit the contents of the Windows directory on my AT&T Tilt from a PC? I want to customize the shortcuts/folders/startup programs and the only way to even see the Windows directory is on the phone itself, which is extremely tedious. The Windows directory does not show up in Windows Explorer, ActiveSync or other 3rd party software I have tried that contain file browsers. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks!
I must be misunderstanding what your asking because...
If you are using Activesync, you most certainly can browes files on your phone as you would the files on your desktop. Two ways to get there. Either by:
My Computer \ Mobile Device
Or through the Activesync program and clicking on the Explore icon.
You also may want to make sure you have your view settings to where hidden files can be seen.
I can see all folders/files except for the Windows Directory from my PC. Nothing is set to hidden.

I'm guessing that you're using Vista....you need to go to your folder options in Vista (Organize->Folder and Search Options->View) and uncheck "Hide protected operating system files."
Tried on another machine (both running XP) and it's fine. Settings are the same on both. Could it be something with permissions? Thank for your replies.
With active synch up, click explore
Now click My Window Mobile-Based Device
Windows folder should be there along with your storage card
If it isn't, your device is probably possessed by the devil and you should consider an exorcism
Yep - works that way on one machine but not the other.
Oh, and your mother sucks c**ks in Hell, Karras, you faithless slime...
Found the problem. Had contracted a root kit virus some time ago on my other machine. Was able to clean everyhing, but one of the wonderful features of this virus was to delete the
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden" key.
Sneaky bastards...
I restored it from the good machine and everything is all good now.
Thanks again for everyone's time.
I guess Smuook was right, possessed by the devil.
When I connect my phone to my computer, it doesn't show the phones windows directory? how can I do that?
So it connects to the phone just fine, you can open the phone through active sync explorer and look at the files?
If that is the case you dont have a connection issue but most likely need to open the folder display options and allow display of "hidden files or folders"
That should allow the folder to show up and a few others but I cant remember for sure, I always enable hidden stuff for other reasons.
how can I do this enable hidden files?
On your computer go to Start, then My Computer, at the top on the menu options go into Tools, bottom option Folder Options. Then click the View tab at the top, you should now see a scroll down list with two folders, the second folder from the top should read Hidden files and folders, click the show hidden files option, then check the box for apply to all folders.
Then apply. Now you can do this in just the phone directory, but I cannot remember since its not part of the system if you will have to set this every time you sync the phone or if Windows will remember if you dont set it for the whole computer.
The hidden folders will show up as a slightly transparent folder, you will see a lot of them around your system so be careful not to delete something you are not sure what is.
I cannot see the windows directory eventhough I enabled hidden files and directories... Can someone help me?
Hi,
I am pretty sure someone already faced this problem, but I could not find the related thread.
Normally if I connect my phone to my PC using USB, I have been asked which kind of connection I would like to have.
I always chose active sync and did not care about the other ones.
Last time I was tried internet connection sharing, that was a bad choice :-(
Since this time the pop up is gone and I have no possibility to switch back to active sync. It always opens the internet connection sharing. I already tried to change the setting in the usb2pc menu, but that does not help.
I am using the ROM "Gen.Y Manila by yozgatg" with TouchFLO 3D 2.1.38658.0 VGA.
Thanks!
AdmiralX
Please. anyone HELP!!
;-)
finally I got to popup back and can select active sync or external disc.
but only the external disc is working, if i select active sync the windows pc is still trying to start the internet connection sharing.
if no one can help, does anyone know a forum where I could get help?
Go into Settings -> Connections -> USB to PC, there you can enable the selection screen again

finally I found a solution, I had to change three different registry keys and deactivate fast data sync (was working with this option enabled before).
hi..is there a way we can choose activesync while fone is locked on password and stop it from going into diskdrive mode?
if you do Twabi2's suggestion the other way around and select acive sync once,
it should be possible.
