It was brought to my attention that no one has posted the latest version of HTC GPS Tool (which supports VGA) as a .cab, so, now i've posted it. Taken from Raphael Test ROM.

Thanks Da_G!
HTC GPS Tool V1.1.1.0 is about 276kb and this new version is only 26.1kb, and after installing on AT&T FUZE (Touch PRO) I don't see the link any where. Is there any problem with this file? did this work for any one?
Thanks

EDIT:: The cab didnt add an icon correctly to control panel (atleast for me).
This cab should add an icon to the start menu/programs folder.
EDIT 2:: Ive noticed this version (and others) dont have the clear memory option, shame :s
What does this version do better or differently from 1.1.1.0? You mentioned VGA support, but I am able to run the latter on my VGA screen without noticeable problems; what would I get from installing the new version?

From what ive seen i still prefer 1.1.1.0 because it has a "clear memory" function which will remove ALL ephiremis data and start from scratch (ruling out any QuickGPS data which is invalid), the functiosn the newer versions offer dont seem to be any different, perhaps split into seperate screens but thats about it.
Thanks for posting a fixed cab, mrvanx
I think HTC split off the memory clearing function to a seperate app in the newer builds, in one of the ROM's I was poking through I saw "ClearGPSData.exe" or something similar, i'll see if I can't dig it up.
BTW won't deleting \Windows\xtra.bin clear the QuickGPS data? Or do you mean the epheremis data stored in the GPS chipset's firmware?
Edit: here's the CleanGPSData.exe program - it communicates directly to the GPS0: port provided by the gpsdriver.dll rather than going through the gpsid_HTC.dll provided COM4: port as any other app would. On blackstone this is set to execute at every startup (which would explain why they removed it from HTC GPS Tool)
What is the chip that we should select for FUZE? is it Q7200?
Yes, Q7200.

Thanks Da_G
Thanks for posting the new cab per my request on your ROM thread. Best regards, Michael.
What exactly is this program doing?
After clicking Open Port, it keep running like crazy all these codes...
I was wonder if there is a GPS signal booster
They told me that QuickGPS suppose to help your GPS signal, but I don't see the different. Now you guys said this one is better than QuickGPS... what can it do?
QuickGPS and HTC GPS Tool serve different purposes.
QuickGPS connects to a network server to download up-to-date epheremis data based on the MCC-MNC of the network you are currently connected to. This data gets saved as \Windows\xtra.bin and when AGPS is active, it gets factored into the intial fix, to speed up TTFF (Time To First Fix)
HTC GPS Tool allows you to view raw NMEA data stream as provided by GPS Intermediate Driver, and also through various menus to view information on current location, DOP (Dilution Of Position, or somewhat like 'accuracy'), and a sky-view of the satellites the GPS unit is seeing. This is useful if your GPS program does not report such information, which most do not.
Bump for a new version, first post

no more GPS fix on JADE
Weird, after one month perfect usage of HTC Jade, I, first time utulised QuickGps funtion and downloaded sattelite data.
Unfortunatelly, the result, GPS fix no more able...
Do you think HTC GPS TOOL uphere resolves the problem on my JADE too?
does it turn on/off GPS for Touch Pro / Fuze?
OK, This new one works good on my HTC Touch Pro.
The old tool did crash after a few minutes (also odd behaviour with jumping satelites in satelite view).
This satelite view is good, only display is flashing, while refreshing the view.
Seems stable for longer periods.
More possibilities for other devices/gps chipsets.

Have you tried ti make it run? Does it work, or is it only displayed?
That's the standard GPS settings control panel, a standard registry hack that works on every WM5 device AFAIK. It doesn't (necessarily) enable hardware, just virtual ports etc.

It means that there is no point to install tomtom? Or it might work?

But alas my labour was unfruitfull....
When I try to modify the registry with MobileRegistryEditor I get the error mesage "Acess Denied" Any idea to solve it?
Finnaly I could modify the registry and apply the suggested settings on gps cnfiguration but in TomTom 6 it doesn't work. I think that still the gps hardware remains disable (by the ROM!!). With the registry modification we only have the GPS option available on Windows Mobile but nothing else, so we should wait until a new ROM appears!!!
Good luck if someone success!!!
I figured the same, at least now we can pretend to have GPS

How gpsOne Works
The gpsOne technology functions in four different modes of operation. Chosen automatically or specified by software, the four modes are Standalone GPS, Mobile Station (MS)-based, MS-assisted and MS-assisted/Hybrid. In the A-GPS modes, gpsOne technology utilizes assistance data from a location server in the wireless network in combination with A-GPS circuitry and software in the wireless device.Note: The common term used by standards bodies for the handset/terminal device in CDMA2000 is "Mobile Station" (MS) and in WCDMA (UMTS)/GPRS/GSM/HSDPA/EDGE is “User Equipment” (UE). For simplicity in this document, references to the handset/terminal will be "MS," but this use implies both MS and UE.
Standalone GPS: The GPS receiver calculates a position without using any assistance data and without a connection to the wireless network.
MS-Based: The GPS receiver calculates the position using assistance data from a location server to increase cold-start sensitivity and reduce the start time for an initial position calculation.
MS-Assisted: The GPS receiver uses assistance data from a location server to make measurements related to its distance from the GPS satellites, then sends this information to the location server where the position is calculated. This mode also increases cold start sensitivity and reduces the start time for an initial position calculation.
MS-Assisted/Hybrid: Wireless network information is added to GPS measurements as part of the position calculation by the location server, integrating the relative strengths of GPS information and available wireless network location information for increased positioning reliability in difficult GPS environments.

Dear Sir
The GPS radio on the P3600 was initially disabled due to a compatibility issue with the release firmware. A new compatible update will be released soon that will reenable the radio. On release this will be available for the support section of our website.
Thank you for your enquiry, Should you have any other problem, please do not hesitate to call us. Your Local number can be found at http://www.europe.htc.com/support/cs_by_phone.html

i have tomtom 6.010 working on my trinity!
i used a prog called gps utilities developed by Efficasoft. and google maps. as suggested by www.coolsmartphone.com.
once i got the gps unit woking i installed tomtom 6.01 on my trinity, or spv m700 as mine is.
the gps settings are com port 9, and baud 4800.
it works a treat, not found any probs with software at all
if anyone wants the software i have a copy of the gps util. so let me know if you want me to sent you a copy. its a trail but once the gps is switched on it works fine. of course unless you do the reg hack you have no access to the gps settings after the trial has expired on gps utils
TomTom also works without any other third party app. on the Trinity. Just select the built-in GPS in TomTom and you are fine....

Glad you are happy with your M700 and TomTom.
This topic was started (and finished!) way back in January, when some of the Trinity devices didn't have GPS enabled in the ROM, causing much confusion.
Since March/April, all SPV M700's and other derivatives have had GPS enabled, so there is no need to use a program to 'switch it on'.
Configure an appropriate GPS program correctly, and give sufficient time to obtain a fix, and it will work. Remember that GPS signals are very weak, and work by line of sight, so a clear view of the sky is needed for a good fix.
The hardware baud rate is actually 57600, but anything from 4800 (the NMEA standard) to 115200 will be OK. The actual data transferred is less than 1000 baud anyway
maybe it was started back in jan,
but i didn't have my m700 back then and i am just getting started getting it working the way i want it.
i would like to enable the gps settings on my phone but all i can find are things that are for the hermes, and they tend to come with warnings that they will brick any other phone.
Hello,
I have used to have Nokia 3310 with Netmonitor function active and liked to do "BTS hunt" - searching for Tmobile BTS's in my surrounding. It was fun to estimate the direction the locked channel comes from, approaching the BTS and watching the TA coming down to zero and the signal intensity reaching -40 dBm - "it must be somewhere here!!!" )
Has already some talented programmer created an application for Kaiser doing the same job as the Nokia one - ability to monitor active cell, surrounding cells, their codes, signal intensities, TA (Time Advance - 1 unit equals about 0,5 km) and ability to lock certain channel to be able to locate it.
Actually, does the API support to get these informations from the hardware?

IMHO this one is even better than the netmonitor mode

Ha! Seems like we share the same interests Unfortunately, Kaiser is that good monitoring device It has, however, netmonitor-like application in \Windows\FieldTest.exe, but it's far far from Nokia's netmonitor... I haven't also seen any kind of API to write such application.
Personally I use and recommend Nokia 6630, where you can install native netmonitor for GSM/UMTS network as well as CellTrack for BTS logging into text file.

fieldtest
Hi there.
The HTC TyTN II is equipped with a Qualcomm chipset. Now it is our goal to access it's diagnostics port to retrieve signaling and status information about the current network like it is possible with other qualcomm phones. As there is already an application installed on the phone that shows this kind of information (FieldTest.exe, accessed via special keysequence *#*#364#*#*) we are confident to be able to get access to said interface. How is it possible to get access to this diagnostics port? Is there a special COM-port that has to be enabled or are specialized DLLs needed that have to be bought?
Do you have some ideas?
Cheers
Saimen

That sequence is a bit hard to memorize, so I'd suggest to make a shortcut from \Windows\FieldText.exe -> \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\FieldTest.lnk, so you could run it as any other application through Start -> Programs
What i meant to ask is, How to read the data that is displayed on the screen? What does all this data signify? How is all this Data Helpful? Is there any site which explains all these fields?
in answer to the quesition of my screenshot, yes that is from the kaiser!
I'm not sure where would be the best place to post this so, I'm putting it here (the dev & hacking forum seems a little inappropriate). Mods feel free to move if you see fit.

Thanks Dave, Just to be specific. The issue is not viewing a feed and letting the image download and then being able to view it offline.
The issue is that images only download when you view the relevant entry, and not when you refresh your feeds. So if I refresh feeds over wifi but then view the entries when not connected the images break.
I doubt that this version fixes the issue, I will email Ilium about it.
many thanks for posting the new version.

thanks for the productive reply. my reason for suggesting was simply because he might have downloaded a bad cab or something of that sort. the build i recommended is a port from vga over to kaiser by gsleon3 and so far people who have used it are running it w/o problem.
and i don't think his isp settings are bad as he is only having this problem in pie; not in all data apps, or atleast he didn't mention he does.

At least I'm starting at ground one by having him check the settings. I would say make sure it's plugged in first but of course this is a wireless device.

I am pretty much clueless about newer systems (ergo the "oldfossil"). My brain is stuck in the days of pre GUI's when I did my programming and system building so it takes me a little time to figure stuff out in newer systems.
thesire: I couldn't find Opera in your 4share. I want to use Opera mobile or PIE over opera mini because mini doesn't allow secure connections.
So, my MediaNet is set to connect to the network using MediaNet. Is this correct? Should it be AT&T ISP? I can connect to the internet, I just don't get full content.

thesire: I couldn't find Opera in your 4share. I want to use Opera mobile or PIE over opera mini because mini doesn't allow secure connections.

don't worry about your medianet settings they are fine.
Here is the cab for opera (its under the cabs folder)
http://www.4shared.com/file/5001468...126__Uninstallable__WM5_Compatible__QVGA.html
i would suggest downloading it on your pc and copy to your storage card (if you have one) and run them cab from there.

obviously problem w/browser not data connection. instaed of trying to argue read what the op is posting and help him.
OK you two. Sir Chums, The Sire, lets act like the adults we are. The benefit of a forum setting like this is people will come up with different answers.
Maybe Chumley is thinking of something in the Data Settings that the OP forgot. Maybe Proxy. Who knows the Proxy Causes weird issues.
And for TheSire, yes he asked about PIE but if he gets Opera working he won't have to worry about the PIE issue.
Thanks for more feedback.
I actually got Opera 9.5 working and have installed mini also. IE still doesn't give full content (some links are active, others are not; pics not shown).
An issue with Opera 9.5: When I try to log into my gmail account I get a blank white screen. Any settings/fixes I should be aware of?

I don't have that problem. The only solution I can give is to "Go around it"
Which is Download the Gmail.jar and install that in your Midlet Manager, which I believe you have since you installed Opera Mini.
Cinemo is an application for finding movie showtimes and information for your area(USA and Canada only, as far as I know). You can use either your postal code or GPS to find your location.
v0.9.5

Fixed a potential issue with automatic updates.
Allow GPS to determine location.

I have just released a new version of Cinemo. From now on Cinemo will be hosted here: http://www.danielgary.net/cinemo/
The new version is really just an interim release that enables image caching for the movie posters and allows automatic updates to Cinemo. A message box will pop up to notify you when the new version is being installed.

P.S. I know the site is ugly. I threw something up there just to host the file for now. I will get something pretty later.

Mods could you please delete the previous thread found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=497225
When I attempted to install this to my memory card the installation would fail; however, the installation to device memory was successful. Can this only be installed to device memory?
Edit: Maybe for a future update you could query the "total $ gross" for each film on the list? Might be a cool addition.
Works well. One suggestion is to have a list of theaters that are within some range of your zip code. Many people go to neighboring zips to go to their preferred theaters.
I will be keeping an eye on this as it would be more convenient than loading up Fandango every time.
im unable to dowload via my ppc.... it just snow a bunch of code and at ppcgeeks the attatchment isnot valid
I get a "No movie times were found for your area." dialog box regardless of the zipcode I enter.
Running on a Sprint Touch Pro, WM 6.1, stock Sprint ROM.

I would imagine that you do not have a data connection open or available. Can you hit the internet with your phone? Try disconnecting it from the computer if the USB cable is connected.

I was able to hit the internet and use other data connection apps fine. I did have it connected to the PC. Disconnected, no change. Cinemo wouldn't work, other apps would.
Did a soft reset, everything works fine. I guess there must have been something that didn't take or load completely until after the soft reset.
Great app, thanks for the work!
Nice App. Since I dont have data plan I guess I will have to check it when I am near a Wifi

+1 for the gps, works like a charm! I use flixter on my ipod touch, and this works just as well for locating movies and since both are very similiar in UI, its really nice to have the familiarity from one device to the other.
Just letting everyone know I have movie synopsis working on my test build. Look for a new update to Cinemo in the next 24-48 hours. It SHOULD automatically update itself when you run it. I will post letting you know when it should be available.
thanks for this app i would love to be able to watch the trailer. maybe you could link it with the youtube app
awesome app, been following it since the first thread. the only thing missing for me would be saving favorite theaters other than that this is perfect. it's helped me out a couple times, thanks!
looks like this is going to be a great app - I am in Canada and i cant seem to enter a Canadian postcode as it caters for zip codes only! I also tried the GPS and it found no cinemas in my area and im downtown Toronto!
Potential feature add: would be great if you could add a feature to be able to enter dvd titles and get it to check the ratings on imdb and metacritic!
Hey thanks for the great app!
Is there a way to add more theaters to the list?
I have to change my area to get different theaters and i much rather just have all the theaters within the area be displayed.
Vancouver, BC, canada working decently!
I agree with some of the others. There needs to be an option for more movie theatres both when viewing the actual movie times and in the theatres tab. Also, itd be nice to check times for other days in advance. Like being able to view the times for Thursday when it is still Monday. Other than that I think it looks really good. Until theres more theatres I am stuck using Live search
every time i change the zipcode the app shuts down with an error. also, sometimes when i open the app it shuts down with an error. tried it on my sprint diamond and touch pro with same results. when it does open without errors it works great though. is there an explanation why there are errors so often? i'd say i've received an error about 40% of the time.
thanks for making this, it's a great idea and very useful. it's much easier and faster than having to open a mobile browser or some other app. keep up the development!
great idea love the concept. would you be able to make this for wqvga devices?
thanks in advance
Nice App but I have been having issues. I am using Energy ROM 3.0. I am not sure if it is because of the 3.7 .Net that he is use or some other reason but I am recieveing a message "failed: \storage card\program files\Cinemo\Cinemo.exe"
I am not sure why I have started to get this. I have more then enough room on my SD card. I have used it in the past and liked the app. Would love to have it on my cell but I am not going to change roms.
So, basically can anyone confirm issues on install? does it have to do with the 3.7 .Net that is being used?
Thanks,
SoBBie
pretty cool app.
i think it would be nice if you could enter your user account information for fandango.com or movietickets.com. that way if you see the movie you want to go see, you can just tap a "buy now" button, and you are good to go. maybe it could pull the confirmation number as well or something.
