Using WM 6.1, the official T-mobile rom 3.31.114.3 NL with Rom 1.70.18.02
Today for the second time, it not possible anymore to read , write any messages.
From the today screen I can see that I have unread messages ,but cannot acces them.
#-Directly from the screen i can touch the messages but nothing happens.
#-The messaging button also does not trigger anything.
#-From the start menu I get get into the messaging screen (the one with the two options: messages and email setup), but both buttons do not work.
Just today after I sens an MMS (wich was correctly send) complete messaging stopped working.
This results also in a non working sync, active sync gives an error that the sync did not work.
Everything worked this morning....
Any ideas (besides a hard reset!!) on how I could get it to work again?
The second time you said, indeed. The first time I perfomed a hard reset....
Update: found an "answer" on the HTC wiki forum, http://www.htcwiki.com/thread/1318132/Disappearing+"Messaging"+apps indeed removing the memory card and deleting the inboxes did the "trick".

I've got the ATT Tilt running the original Kaiser ROM. There are a few (small) frustrations I'd like some advice on.
Currently, I'm running FlexMail full time, and PocketCM for a contact manager. These apps are rarely stopped. I have a feeling that FlexMail, PocketCM and the internal Messaging app are conflicting. Every time I receive a notification it comes immediately (tested with friends), but when I try to open a text in any of the three apps, there is a delay of a good 10+ seconds; if I try to compose a new SMS or reply to one, in any of the programs, the phone seems to freeze entirely for sometimes up to three full minutes; even after that, text entry via any method is very slow to respond.
I soft reset my device about every night, just to make sure it's running as quickly as it can. I find that the Messaging problem is persistent even immediately after a reset. My preference would be the have PocketCM quit trying to deal with SMS at all (every time I receive one, it switches to my contact list, and I hate that), and to use FlexMail to deal with SMS (but only if I can figure out how to deal with MMS as well in that app, otherwise the internal messaging is fine).
Also, recently when resetting I get the error immediatly after the HTC Home screen launches: "The file '' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file." I have no idea what this belongs to!
Other information that might be useful - I've added the HTC Phone Pad to the device; I tried Pocket Informant and removed it, and am currently running SPB Pocket (which I will also probably remove). I've installed a number of other packages which I decided I don't need and removed, having kept just a couple emulators, PocketPuTTY, and Opera Mini (latest beta).
Sorry for the long post, but I LOVE this phone - it just sucks when you can't text quickly, my LG VX6000 was better at it *snicker*.. gotta make this thing zippier!
I have searched for about an hour on the forums but didn't find an answer to this...please forgive me if this has been answered already:
I'm experiencing a strange issue where if there are NO new messages, then I can use the default messaging plug-in on the today screen to go into Outlook email without problem. However, as soon as I get new emails and the Messaging plug-in changes from "no unread messages" to "Outlook email: x Unread" then I cannot click on the messaging plug-in to go into messagning anymore. When I click on it, nothing happens.
I have to go to Start menu and select messaging from there instead.
As soon as I read all the new messages, then the today screen plug-in will start working again.
This is a new AT&T Tilt I just received. This problem occurs with both Stock AT&T ROM and Dutty's ROM that just released yesterday.
I have tried deleting the inbox.msxxxxxxxx folder in my storage card, but that didn't seem to help.
Any suggestions or ideas? TIA!
Hi,
after searching for weeks around ways to make the ring tone for text messages work, I found that even though there exist several proposals to solve the problem, many htc diamond users still apparently don't succeed in getting it done, myself included.
The problem is that if a message arrives, the phone returns to normal mode if on standby, the lights flash, but NO TONE is played. No matter if in standby mode or not.
So far I tried the following which at least made the phone wake up and the light flashes. However, no sound is played and moreover the message is not displayed. (I am not using Manila but SPB Mobile Shell (tried 2.15 and 3.0 and without, but does not change).
things tried:
1) I did several Hard Resets including using a totalling of five different ROMs (including one with 6.5)
2) Trying all possible settings in the alerts and Notifications menus, Vibrate, Program Sounds, built-in sounds,...
3) edit the registry to make the phone wake up on Message
4) Install the HTC Hotfix for the greyed out REPEAT option
The strange thing is, once I flash the phone new, it works for about one day, but then stops (however, I used to install some programs during that period, so far could not 8for the lack of time) find out what was the particular reason.
but after about 10 complete new Flashs I am really desperate that one of the most simple features of cellphones, an text message beep, seems not possible with the HTC Touch Diamond.
In any case, I know there are a lot of discussions around this issues but I tried all of them and it seems that they don't work for many others as well, while it does for some.
It would be great to have a final thread getting this issue fixed ultimately!
Thanks for your experiences / ideas !
cheers,

So after long trials and errors, I found one more reason why one cannot hear text message sounds:
I had deleted the Activesync Registry Key in order to get rid ot the Outlook Email Account as suggested in several threads. Apparently this made the sms sound not work anymore, for whatever reason.
Just restored the backup of the Active Sync key to HKLM Software Microsoft Inbox Svc and voilá!
well i think this is one of the most crucial and important problem with HTC phones...i had the same problem with my HTC Touch before...hopefully this should not start with my new diamond.
solution of that i found was something similar what u stated. i tried deleting my smses..i had more than 3000 sms in inbox and in outbox around 2500...so i deleted say around 1000 sms ..which might played some trick and then sms sound started...unfortunately my htc touch then got stolen ...i wish i would have not fixed that problem for thief to go with same misery of not getting incoming sms sound
it didn't work for me....grrrr
any new solutions?

Same problem here.
I was hearing sounds in incoming emails a few days ago but suddenly no sound is played when i receive an email.
I didn´t delete any registry value, so i don´t know if your solution can help me, but... do you remember the registry key to review, please?
Thanks!
Still looking for a solution anyway
EDIT: I have found a pseudo-solution: if i check the box "Display message on screen" (Sounds & Notifications), new email notifications sounds normally.
I don´t like seeying WM notifications pop´ups, but... it´s the only way new email are notified with sound.
Okay, yet another problem with this kaiser. This phone is acting worse then a problem child on crack since I reloaded 6 times because of me trying to get the weather in my area. Anyhow, since I gave up trying to fix the weather thing, I now have a message problem. I have deleted all messages from inbox and outbox, etc. But still the phone keeps saying I have one new unread message. I have powered the device off and also used the stylus to reset it from the bottom button, and still have no effect. What is wrong with this thing this time? Has anyone had this problem? I am running the stock HTC firmware with WM 6.1 and Update 23 of M2D Touchflo. Also have Update 20 addons installed to make things work, etc. TomTom, and other msc programs. Don't think they would effect this, since I had this setup before my phone starting to screw up.
Okay, I found the solution. If anyone else needs this then here is the website:
http://www.freewareppc.com/communication/fixunreadcount.shtml
Description:
This utility fixes the unread count for every mail folder in every account on the device.
Some users have had problems with Inbox or the Today screen displaying "-1" unread messages, or displaying 1 or more unread messages when, in fact, there are none. This utility will detect and repair these discrepencies.
It's not flashy, but it does the job
Just power off device and restart it and it should be gone.
Hi, Using HyperDragon IV OS for about three months now...my phone locked up while using email today so I soft reset. For some reason when it restarted, one of my apps would no longer auto load and then my outlook and text message screens in TouchFlow showed "no accounts" but the email counter in TF still show new messages . I removed the program that would no longer start, soft reset and now no error message up on start up, but there are still no text message or email on my phone anymore.
I tried manually starting messaging and outlook through the file directory and nothing happens, no errors, nothing. Any ideas?
