I was trying to find a good VNC client -- I liked the zaDesktop RDP one, but that doesn't work with a Linux server, of course. I was puzzled when the very highly reviewed PT Pocket Office trial crashed and died without an error message or doing a thing... has anyone heard of this before? I couldn't find any information on it, although one other user who had a Treo had the same complaint, so it does not seem like it is just the Touch Pro.
I found ZoomVNC and MochaVNC both worked fine; the latter is able to hide a bit more of the screen than the former, so I preferred it.
You may also try .NET VNC Viewer:
http://dotnetvnc.sourceforge.net/
It hasn't been actively developed for a while, but it's compact (just a single .exe, no install required) and works pretty well. It doesn't offer very many features compared to other commercial clients, but if you just need basic remote desktop it should do the trick.
Hey there,
You can use the RealVNC client which worked more than fine for me in my att fuze. Follow this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=138601&d=1229694478 .

Hi there!
For quite a while now I'm searching for an app making it possible to print from the Qtek, via LAN, WLAN, IR, no matter (well, nearly)...
all I found was the HP MobilePrinting solution, which (at least on my device) doesn't work (installed on the machine as well as on the storage card). The app always complains that the hpprintcenter seems not to be certified or a component is missing... well.
The only other app I found was Vanguard Printing, which I can't test due to a lack of IR-printers... :?
Does anynone know a solution to get the HP app running or at least a complete different program making it possible to print?
Aah, before I forget it: what about freeware?
Thanks a lot.

WestTek maybe your solution...
WestTek just updated all their software to support WM5. One of the programs is called JetCet. It allows you to print from your device. They have a 14 trial period for all their software.
NOTE: The only problem I've found so far is that their printing software (currently) does not support IP printers. You cannot configure a printer with only an IP address. You must use a printer that has a dedicated print server.
I don't know if they (WestTek) plans to upgrade their software in the future that will support IP Printers.
Justin
BTW. I think their software works well. I've printed PDFs and PowerPoints (2 slides per page (and no, you can't change that)) and they look decent. Obviously, printing from a workstation is better, but for a mobile printing solution, it works very well.

i am going to google this to find them, but for others that come after me, and perhaps if I cant find them, how about a url to them/their product?
Here ya go......
www.westtek.com
Bachmann PrintBoy does it... aaargh.
I tried the WestTek product just to find it doesn't work for me. There are only a few (Canon, HP, Epson) network-printers supported and it was impossible to get it going with my HP JetDirect printserver... not a generic approach.
So at least my biggest fear came true: the most expensive program I tried is the only one working under WM5! I can't believe it...
Bachmann PrintBoy7 does the trick, although the built in 'configure' dialog didn't work for me - calling the appropriate executable solved the problem. Besides that it's a charm to configure.
Bachmann asks for 'only' 49.99 Dollars!
That's a lot of money for printing a page once in while!!!
And they don't support the WM5 NoteTaker .pwi file-format! Nobody knows why.
All this only because MS skipped the implementation of a printing service due to more resources... :x
Does really nobody how to run the HP PrintingService under WM5?
Any progs I don't know?
Take care.
Yul.
I believe the mobileprinting software from HP is for WM 2003 only. I don't think they've come out with a new driver for WM 2005.

HP no longer offers their Mobile Printing product -- they announced this some time ago on their web site -- so there will not be a WM5 version.
Has anyone tried out a VNC on the kaiser yet?
I'm looking at trying out this one: http://www.cs.utah.edu/~midgley/wince/vnc.html
but is there a better one before I try this one?
www.logmein.com (free) unless you need vnc specifically
oh, it's free?! wow, sweet thanks
Also WM6 remote desktop
can't open logmein.com in pIE
i've used logmein.com on my wizard fine, but now with the Tilt, whenever i try to get to www.logmein.com using pocket internet explorer, right as the page loads, IE will just close.
this seems to be consistent with opening other secure pages, (i.e. www.myorb.com)
anyone else able to run logmein.com??
ps. only occurs when using EDGE, works fine when on WIFI
Hi guys, looking for some pointers with this one.
Having usefully used Terminal Services on the TyTN to remote support Windows machines while out in the field, I've upgraded to the Kaiser only to find that not only is the improved Remote Desktop Mobile from WM6 not included in the build, but neither is the previous Terminal Services Client. This is a major problem for me as I don't want to have to carry two devices with me (never mind 2 SIMs and contracts!)
Having searched around it seems that Microsoft decided not to make the inclusion of Remote Desktop Mobile madatory in the build, but to offer it as an option to carriers and manufacturers. It also seems that this is something which none of the carriers has opted for - and definitely not Vodafone UK as in my case.
This really has crashed a major downer onto the otherwise brilliant bit of gear which is the Kaiser.
Has anyone any access to the RDM app for installation onto the Kaiser, or, failing that, an "easy" way to port the old TSC from the TyTN?
Try this... this is a remote desktop prog. for PPC on WM6 devices
Its available in the thread where all cabs are located (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332438), following the big link there will point you to the wm6 remote desktop cab (http://www.cinetsystems.com/xda/Kaiser Cab Collections/WM6_RemoteDesktop.cab)
Thanks guys, brilliant work and saved me loads of gief.
(BTW - I did search across the site but couldn't anything - I'll make sure I try harder next time!)
I know there are a few VNC viewers hanging around, but they all seem to have the an issue with what makes the Raphael unique: it's keyboard.
I'm forced to use the on-screen keyboard, and let's face it, on such a small screen it's hopeless.
Has anyone had any luck with VNC viewers with Raph, specifically, it's keyboard?
I'm running the latest ROMeOS on Raph and Xubuntu Linux 8.10 on the server.
I've used mochasoft's mocha vnc for wm with wm6 and wm6.5 on my fuze, i was able to use the keyboard on both with no problems. Its paid software but theres a trial.
im at huge vnc user! VNC is a must and so far i have had no luck with it and i am using the fuze . The pocketpc version is the best so far and it works but the display is soo small. i cant read any of the text cause it is soo small. Maybe it has something to do with the fuze resolution or something? I dunno but so far i have had no luck with vnc and the fuse. Any help is greatly appreciated. I have tried alternative vnc software such as zoomvnc, mocha, vnc. none of them seem to work
I've been using this free one for years. First on my treo 700wx and now on my Touch Pro. http://dotnetvnc.sourceforge.net/
The screen of embedded remote desktop client is too small,
Could any one tell me any other rmc suit for WVGA?
Thank you so much
Depending on what you want to do remotely, there are some alternatives. You can use Sallingclicker, to control specific programs like mediaplayers on your desktop, it only works over wifi. Puppetmaster allows you to use a mousepointer too, but I don't know if it works on TD2. Others are RemotelyAnywhere, Promixis, PPCTablet, you'd have to try them out. Or download and install a different cab from the windows rdp program and see if that makes a difference.
Hi Deechte,
I wanna to remote the desktop of my home PC which is running Windows XP,
Could you recommend some verison of windows rdp program for me? especially for WVGA
As I used logmein on my Diamond 2... It didn't work...
After I connected to my PC and typed the login id and passwords via logmein, it finally cannot load the the desktop of my home PC....
I am still finding what is the problem with my D2...
Thanks for your reply
I guess the mobile internet browser on your D2 cannot load the LogMeIn plugin or activeX element that's needed. You could try the Finster rdp client, but I don't know if it's any better than the one that comes with the D2, nor do I know if it works at all...
