Hi all,
I would like to know if there has been any ultralight ROMs produced for the X1.
I do not know why there are X1 ROMs that model the touch interface but I dun need all that silliyness as well.
Just a plain ROM will do.
Look at Kack's ROM version 1.04. This is a lite ROM that I use
Flash Rom / Hard reset,
go through setup, at the point the phone says customising rom in 3 seconds, soft reset the phone, none of the operator or sony stuff installed, sorted
Cheers

iv just hard reset my phone to clear off all the programs & rubbish id accumulated over the last month of having my phone. When i hard reset it, will i have cleared hardSPL etc, or am i alright just flashing duttys rom again straight away?
cheers guys
anyone? thanks
Everytime I´ve made a hard reset with a custom rom it has stayed there and the HardSPL as well. If I´m not mistaken you will not go back to stock rom because you´ve overwrtitten it with the custom rom and thefore the custom rom will boot up again BUT with all settings, installed programs and other changes you´ve made cleared. So if you had Duttys rom and made a hard reset you will still have Duttys rom.
I reset the device by going into settings, system and then clear data and afaik it has reset it to the HTF default, cant see any mention of duttys ROM. Also noticed the phone to be much much slower.
is it likely to be the HTC ROM or duttys ROM that im currently left with?
hardspl stays... thats why its called hardspl. it resists hard resets.
thanks for the response, just what i wanted to hear!

no problem may i recommend kaiser wiki? so u can learn more about ur device.
I recently got myself an X1, and I have to honestly say, its brill!
I am mainly using the spb shell panel, and like it for the reason that I can use my thick fingers to operate it. Is their any other user interfaces like this one?
Ok, I am a smart enough guy…(sometimes)…but I cannot for the life of me understand roms…and what you guys are going on about in these forums.
What I am looking for is a good selection of panels to choose from, however from what I can get from these forums is that I am better installing something completely different on the phone.. I assume this gets rid of my panels?
Do roms completely overwrite what is currenly on the phone? Ie. Panels, tomtom, etc.
Any tips would be much appreciated, as I am interested in a user interface that I can better customise to suit myself (cant customise spb mobile shell)…..
Thanks..
Roughly said a ROM is a collection of appz put in one file together with the WinMo OS.
What those appz are, and which version of winmo, totally depends on the creator of the custom cooked ROM. In the threads of the custom ROM is always a summary of what is included.
Most chefs delete the panels from their ROMs, except for the standard panels and the panelmanager. So you can install the panels you want to use.
When installing a new ROM (custom cooked or stock) it always deletes the phone memory, not your SD-card! So you need to install appz, change settings to your own need, and ofcourse put contacts, agenda, etc back from back-up.
Nice, thanks.
I think in that case that I will avoid them for now, as I do not have a good enough understanding of how it works. I will how ever make more of an effort to read into the process to understand how it will benefit how I use the phone.
Thanks for the heads up.
May I suggest you to read this thread:

Ok, took the plunge, and installed a custom rom....
I installed Touch_IT v4.5 and it is excellent..however
Anyone else experiencing lots of crashes? I am getting lots of crashes for stupid things like trying to open the X panel....
Whats annoyed me most is that I have taken off the back cover so much to remove the battery (to restart) I have cracked the part under the camera :-(
Just out of interest...to convert back to the stock o2 UK rom do I simply download "X1i_GENERIC_UK_CDF1215-1832_R2AA010 - uploaded" from:
NEW ORIGINAL X1 ROMS (all released variants) update 14.3.2009
Then Hard SPL, and install this original rom?
Thanks..

Yes, and yes.
Edit: You don't need to HARD SPL again before you flash it.
I believe that ROM is the generic SE one without any of the O2 branding.
If you need to return it for any reason you will need to reflash it with the O2 ROM (which I believe is available in the same thread as you found the one you pointed out).
You'll also need to change the hard spl back to the original.
Shame about the crack under the camera, did you know you can soft reset by holding down the power button for 3-5 seconds?

How do I change the hard spl back to the original??
I do assume though there is no way to reset the phone when it has completely crashed, without removing the battery. Holding the power button down has no effect.
Its a shame as I love the touch-it 4.5 rom. I almost would live with it being unstable just for some of the features (i.e Camera with autoflash, and the touchflo 3D interface).

Did you hard reset after flash, because I've been using Touch-IT 4.5 since the day after it was released and aren't experiencing big stability issues (hard reset is press the two directly under your screen and press reset button with stylo).

When the batterycover is removed there is a tiny hole next to the battery, you can use your stylo to press the reset button inside the hole (soft reset).
hard reset after flash? no...how do I do that?
As I didnt do it, will I have to reflash it again and then hard reset?
I dont understand "press the 2 under the screen" sorry...
Thanks again..

I know I hav to backup etc. Will this void the warranty though, will I be able to get it to factory settings if I want to change it back?
Thank you.

3. press reset button with stylus, while still holding the others

Ok, so the reset button is the one underneath the battery cover?
and the right and left buttons are the silver rectangular ones that you can assign as anything?
Should I reflash the phone and hard reset it then, or might hard resetting it now work?

Hard reset without reflash should do the trick
ps remind that hard reset will set the OS back like it has never been used before

Don't know Resco first handed, but looking at the screenshots (http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/explorer/indepth.asp) you should be able to enter the registry at the base of the folder tree.

A soft reset is just when you reboot your handset, but a hard reset is when u reset windows mobile to its factory settings (Deleting All Data)...
The best versions of touchflo are one that are cooked into roms, installing the touchflo after you have flashed a rom can lead to slow boot up times and also slow browsing of the windows directory in file manager...
the best version of the touchflo is v 2.1 at the moment, i suggest you try the one on yozgatg's rom found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=521941 as he is the one that converted this version of manilla for our devices
thanks for your help but which one of those files do i download
Heres the download link for his latest rom

Hello!
I have a Tmobile MDA Vario 3 and the following problem:
I used my phone normally every day, and one day no ringtones are working... I can hear them choose one of the sounds, but no sound if somebody rings me...
what can it be? I dont wanna make a hardreset, because many programs on it and i dont wanna lose them...
I did a hardreset and used before sprite backup, i tested the ringtone and IT WORKS, now i put back my backup and no ringtones working now again, how can i find the mistake in the system? Can i look into the registry like normal windows too?
in another forum i saw someone means it can be the divx player, i deinstalled it, but nothings better...
I NEED HELP... what can i do?
Regards
Can't you just put the programs back on there? It's really not that hard.

Its too much for me...
Its an tmobile device and i putted manually the o2 internet settings in there nobody knows whats the defect on there?
Regards
I could flash and setup my Tilt in no time flat.
Ok, i will do a hardreset, but is there a ROM for the Vario 3 so that i have an original HTC ROM?
And can i flash the phone then to WM 6.5?
Do you have any links for me?
are you on a flashed non OEM rom?
I am on an original tmobile rom, and i i have to reset i wanna change to another rom like windows mobile 6.5, i have to change rom to a htc rom 6.1 and then i have to go to 6.5 right? i wanna put away tmobile settings on hardreset!
Well if you hard reset it will put the oem rom on it. Then you follow the instructions to be able to flash roms on it. Until you flash a rom on it, every time you hard reset it the factory rom will install.
Can you give me a link where i find a description what to do for this?
I wanna flash the rom to HTC WM 6.1 original, and after this i wanna install 6.5 is this the right way??
[Resources] Flashing Your First Kaiser Rom (For Noobs)
No need for interim flashes after hard-spl you can flash a 6.5 make sure you read about Radio update
Maybe you have installed some softwares. let check recent installed softs and uninstall them, then restart. No need to use other rom if you like it
If it still does not work, do hard-reset.
Goodluck
My TYTN 2 (KAISER) came with the original WM6...But I upgraded/flashed it to WM 6.5 and that kinda sucks for me...
How can I revert it back to WM 6????
HELP.
Should I Hard reset it( by pressing several keys+stylus)??
Or should I hardSPL it again and flashing the WM6 Rom back??

First of all this is Android development so this is very offtopic. Second you hopefully can find and download the correct WM version from HTC by entering your S/N. Then I think all you need to do is to hold camera button + reset the device to enter SPL, connect to computer with USB cable and then run the installation (that you downloaded from HTC).
Hi Kalit_Kaffe, Thnx for the Help. Was helpless...thts Y had to post it here.
Anyways...is the hard reset(holding camera button...the soft buttons and stylus) the same as Factory restore??...then i wouldnt be needing the file that you mentioned for download??
Am i right?
Reset to factory defaults will not replace the 6.5 rom you have installed, you don't need to HardSPL again, that only needs to be done once.
Your best option would be to get a stock rom from the XDA Wiki pages, My advice would be either get a shipped rom that matches your carrier, or the latest generic HTC shipped rom, both can be found here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser_ROMs
Note that once you flash a rom a Hard reset does not remove it, only flashing another rom will do that. Also flashing a stock rom is actually one of the best ways of clearing out previous flashes.
hi
Hey man thnx a lot! really helps!
HELP!!!!!!!!!
How do I install the USB driver for HTC TyTN II, to whom I am the Android 1.5. Before that I was a Windows Mobile 6.5 and am using Microsoft ActiveSync. I would like again to get back to WM 6.5, but can not seem to connect mobile phone and computer.
You can't flash back to Windows Mobile through usb while in Android because of the driver issues. You have to either enter bootloader mode and flash, or you have to do it through your storage card. And before you post back asking me how to do that, use the search. There are instructions all over the place.
thank you very much I was able through bootloader mode
does anyone know what is the best WM for HTC taytn 2? I am installing TPC_Kaiser_Titanium_Ultimate_28002, it's not something particularly good
There is no *best* ROM. Please read threads and flash based on your needs. I think it's about time this thread be done for.

Looks like you need to downgrade your Hard SPL for WM6 so that it doesn't pause a lot.

Also there seems to be a guide for what you want. Sorry I stopped reading through the threads when I saw someone say you don't need to do anything with your hard spl.
