Hi,
As newbaby I need help regarding phone backup. I have currently PDACornerUltimate v13 and set up contacts, calendars, sms, mms, installed applications (some games, programs…), 5 mails setup, connection for 3G and MMS, specific sounds for contacts, alarms, calendar…
How to backup all these information and when install new version of rom to recover it? I know that pim backup application can restore contacts, calendar, sms, mms, but what application to use for restoring mails (servers, passwords…), connections, installed applications?
Thanks
Maybe SPB back up will work for you.

Hello pericaperica,
If you are wondering about a good program to back up installed programs and other information from one ROM/device and put it on another ROM/device, my advice to you is that you shouldn't. It is a real pain to do, I know, but to avoid real problems in the long run as I found out, you should just reinstall everything and re-enter everything. It is REALLY annoying and can take quite a while, but you will avoid potential registry errors, corrupt files, etc. I have tried a few of the backup programs that claim to allow restore after ROM upgrade, but none of them work like they claim to. Hope that helps,
Dave

I backed up with sprite backup using the stock at&t rom, then flashed to l26s new rom and now sprite backup only reloads some of my settings and my damn contacts are gone. Is there a way to manually extract the contacts out of the sB backup file also why does activesync think that i dont have outlook installed The damn window is open right beside it and it still says install outlook any help would be appreciated thanks ahead of time
did you check out the MIGRATION settings in the backup menu under options? you can choose to migrate your settings to another device (it migrates call logs, contacts, calender, tasks and categories...better yet for contacts to never fail and to always be updated is to use an exchange server for your pocket outlook email (i use a free one called mail2web i dont know what id do without it, push email is far superb over pop3)
well that would have worked before i backed up but doesnt help much now. thank u . i dont use email on my phone i just lost a lot of phone numbers. I just need to find a way to get to the phone numbers again. syncing with outloo didnt work because it says outlook isnt installed
I purchased the full version of Sprite Backup (figured it'd be well worth it) so that I could backup my 6800 and transfer some of its data to my 6850. More specifically, I was hoping to pull the contacts, call history, and text messages over to the new phone.
The contacts came over with no fuss -- actually, they came over through ActiveSync, so there was no problem there at all. However, when I tried to restore PIM data using the 6800 backup, the phone tells me that "Sprite Backup Requires Authorization To Run". As you can imagine, this is a bit weird. I tried using "Personal Data Only" as well as "Merge Level 2" and came up with the same result both times.
I've only had the phone for about 6 hours and haven't started combing through the threads here to make necessary edits, so there's nothing I'd care about losing. How do I pull the text messages and call history from my old phone?
Thanks in advance for any and all help, and sorry if I posted this in the wrong section.
Edit: I'm using Version 6.5.2.102
Sqube,
Even Sprite shows it needs code but you can still use it as in evaluation period for 10 days, so you can go ahead with the software and restore the utility. But i suggest using PIM backup for contacts, task, and messages as that works better than Sprite backup.
Unfortunately, I can't. That's why I'm posting here. I've already purchased the software; it's just not letting me restore the information from my 6800 to my 6850.
If I had known that Sprite Backup was incapable of restoring that information across different phones, I never would have purchased it, especially since I was coming to an all new phone.
Thanks for the help anyway.
It should be capable of doing what your asking. Why haven't you contacted Sprite about this issue?
Quite frankly, I was hoping I could find an answer here because these forums are (a) better; (b) more populated; and (c) don't have random spam in every other thread.
hmmmm
i have had the same problem using sprite to restore from PC.
solved issue by re-installing sprite on PPC before executing the restore from the PC. hopefully this issue has already been solved for you.
cheers.
As far as I know, the problem is you are tryign to back up data from a HTC Mogul to a HTC Touch Pro.... It doesnt; work like that... Settings in diffrent versions of windows on diffrent devices just don't work.... But what SHOULD work for you is that new "Microsoft My Phone"... you can back up lost of those things you wanted up over that, and restore them on a diffrent phone.... Try that and let us know... then when it is setup how oyu want... THEN creatire you backup using sprite backup
thanks teej, i did manage to backup and restore my HD2 to and from the PC. had to tweak a couple of things though.
i did a full backup to PC (everything except storage card - contacts, emails, messages, all calendar data, system data and my documents).
i also did a PIM data backup (contacts, emails, messgages and all calendar data) to my devices storage card (luckily).
so i flashed to new ROM, hard reset a couple more times, then attempted a full restore from my PC. used sprites same device/new ROM restore setting (called 'merge mode 2' i think), and it restored everything except my personal data (so the full PC restore didnt restore contacts, emails, messgages and all calendar data). luckily i had the PIM data backup and was able to restore all PIM data from that.
so with the two backups combined... i had success.
although this wasnt as straight-forward as i feel backups and restores should be... it was MUCH better than the backups i had done with SPB (using SPB i have had corrupted backup files on multiple occasions - i definately recommend using Sprite Backup over SPB, and i havent tried Resco or Microsoft My Phone).
advice to anyone backing up.... create multiple backup files, so if one fails or is corrupted... there is a safety net.
cheers.
So I reflashed yesterday, to Agent_47's Valkyrie rom. Like it so far, aside from the speed, but I have one problem. I am trying to restore all the information from a PIM Backup. While everything seemed to have restored okay, when I go to my contacts list, there is absolutely nothing in it. My call logs, and photo-attached contacts show in the call logs correctly, but absolutely nothing in the Contacts list. I also reformatted my computer recently, so getting my contacts via outlook is out of the question. Little help please
Thanks in advance,
Adam
I'm looking for a way, possibly free, to fully backup my phone.
I already use PIM Backup to save my contacs, Messages, and so on (but this is done on a daily basis with ActiveSync too, so this is not critical).
Much more critical is to backup eMail accounts settings (username, password, server addresses, ports, ssl, and so on).
Due to misterious reason (main suspect is Resco Audio Recorder, from now on disinstalled) I lost my account settings twice, and this is really annoying, as I use my phone to check many eMail account regularly so when this kind of crash happens, I have to re-type every single setting...
So, if a way exists to backup account settings, this could be enough. But, as my phone is currently perfectly configured and working, I would like to make a "snapshot" of the phone on the storage card, si I can later fully restore it.
I use a Shifu WM6.5 Rom.
Thanks in advance
Bye

So my phone died and is now miraculously working. So now I am backing everything up in case it happens again.
Here's the thing. Google sync never works perfectly for me and the HTC backup doesn't either.
I've tried MyBackup in the past but whenever I used it it would mess up the contacts. It backed them all up but upon restoring each entry of a contact (i.e. home phone, mobile home, notes, etc.) became a new contact with that name. So instead of having one Bob in my contact list I would have six bobs, one with the cell number, another with an email, and so on.
I was wondering what backup apps you guys could recommend that restore the contacts properly. I only care about the contacts. MyBackup works well with SMS and call logs so if need be I can use different apps for different backups and what I need now is a good contact solution.
Thanks
Helium from Clockworkmod. Its the best method of backup for non rooted users IMHO. https://www.clockworkmod.com/carbon
I have never experienced a problem restoring my Google account contacts, I take it you have removed the account and tried to set it up again to see if it will let you save the contacts. You can verify that they are saved if you log onto gmail when using a browser.

Thanks for the suggestion but trying out the free one it backs up apps but the people/contacts app doesn't show up in the list meaning it doesn't do what I need...
